Anyone else fed up with some of the blatant anti-muslim hatred on mumsnet?

I don't know if i should even bother trying to address it anymore.
Anyone else fed up?

Why can't people just get that hate speech isn't ok, whoever it's about... 🤦🏻‍♀️

anotherlevel · 14/09/2024 18:28

I honestly do not know.

CassieMaddox · 14/09/2024 20:43

Just popping on to express solidarity, even though I'm not Muslim. Why anyone takes proven liar Ayaan Hirsi Ali seriously is completely beyond me and I wish people would stop giving her airtime. But at least it lets one know which posters to avoid.

I am not a Muslim; I have no faith, in fact.
I am simply aghast at the level of ignorance and sheer misunderstanding of what Islam stands for.

Thank you for your support. Hopefully someone might read something we've said, look into things a bit more and change their perspective a bit, even if they don't say anything.

Does everyone have to be pro Muslim? Or pro Christian? Or pro Jewish? Or pro Rastafarian? Or pro Hindu? Or pro atheism? Or pro Buddhist? Why can't someone disagree with all or some of your religious beliefs? Surely there are certain beliefs that you disagree with? As long as it's kept respectful and no one is breaking the law I don't see why it should bother you that some people are anti Muslim. You shouldn't expect everyone to agree with your beliefs that is impossible no matter what religion you have.

Not being pro something does not mean you have to be anti something.

I am a white British atheist. I don’t personally agree with religion and don’t believe that there is a God, whatever form that takes. It does not mean I am anti Christian, anti Jewish or anti Muslim. I respect people’s right to believe in whatever they want to.

I don’t know how anyone can think it is ok to be so against a certain religion, to the point of some people acting violently because of it.

Yes there are horrible Muslim people, just as there are horrible Christians, atheists etc. There might be some Muslim women who are oppressed by some people choosing to interpret their teachings in a certain way, but that is the same for other religions too. There are plenty of non religious men who oppress women.

I bet a lot of people who think the holocaust was disgusting and that it should never happen again also think that all Muslims are how they have been wrongly portrayed, you know just like Jewish people were wrongly portrayed.

I'm sorry you have felt anti-muslim hatred on here. Just wanted to add to the support from non-muslim voices on this thread. I'd like to think most people on Mumsnet are just normal mums rather than bigots/racists, but I know some awful opinions are spewed on here at times, so I'm sorry you have felt hatred. I absolutely loathe what's happening to the innocent people of Gaza x

I will always call racism out, wherever it rears its ugly head and no matter the disguise it takes.
Thank you for welcoming me here. It is appreciated.

You were completely right to start that thread. I feel strangely relieved it's gone now. I kept getting drawn back into because what people were saying was so upsetting.

anotherlevel · 15/09/2024 12:48

I missed the last few posts so no idea what made them change their minds other than posters repeatedly breaking guidelines. But I'd like to know what was said and by who in case it was perhaps someone being supportive of us and that's what was deleted
