I emailed MN and they removed it for personal attacks, deliberately inflammatory behaviour and hate speech. And veering on attacks on people because of their faiths whether it's Islam or Judaism. 👏🏼

I seem to be getting somewhere in the feminist chat! There's a question that a poster has asked me, actually 2 questions by different posters and I'm not sure how to answer them in a manner that won't be taken in the wrong way. Would anyone here be able to help me with a constructive and informative reply pls?

1 - "it still doesn't explain how gay and bi people are supposed to cope trying to pray surrounded by distractions and everything" - discussions around modesty in mosques and reasons for segregation.

2 - "if women need to cover up so as not to distract with their beauty is the responsibility with the woman? Ie what is the view of a woman who does not"

For the gay/bi question, a friend of mine who is bisexual describes it as being part of her own test in that situation, but that there's far less 'temptation' in a setting where she and her Muslim sisters have come together for study or celebration than there is when she's walking down a high street or through a park on a sunny day. I don't know if that's helpful at all though as haven't read the thread.

That's interesting, that's not the reason which popped up on my feed - I cannot remember the exact wording but there was definitely no mention of anything you have written there. There were quite a few false accusations on that thread and also people refusing to see the difference between islamophobia and simply questioning islam as a faith (or indeed questioning any faith).
Just to clarify, my views are that people are free to practice whatever faith they chose and also to question whatever faith they choose, even if the questions don't have easy answers/make people feel slightly uncomfortable.

Accusations of islamophobia when it isn't there, doesn't help deal with actual islamophobia. It isn't islamophobia to question how a belief system works, in a respectful way. I am not sure how anyone can conclude it is.

Yes the wording is different in the feed it says it was deleted because guidelines were repeatedly broken despite being asked not to.

No, I said it's interesting because that's not what appeared when I clicked on the thread after it was deleted. It was a much shorter explanation and didn't have any of the words you've used. Maybe they give more detail if you push for more detail. Maybe you interpreted it differently. I wish I had a copy of the exact sentence I saw when I clicked but I don't.

I missed that comment - even if the thread had remained then I would hope something of that nature would have been deleted.

TBH I think the whole thread was essentially a train-wreck and not a helpful or balanced discussion (from either 'side' of the debate).

I just think it's interesting that they don't provide so much info unless you actually e-mail. I am not accusing you of making anything up or lying, just to clarify.
