Anyone else miss the old gigs thread and have concerts planned?

Didn't there used to be a Gigs thread?

Anyway, just sorted tickets etc for Masta Ace + Live Band (!) at the Jazz Cafe nexrt month. Very excited about that! No late-night train to get home from Euston, sadly, means an overnight London stay, though. Resigning myself to being the oldest in the audience by some distance 😃, but I can live with that.

just came in to say Levellers were absolutely fantastic last night.

WorthySloth · 17/10/2026 09:36

Land of the Giants were really good fun last night. Off to a day party in a local nightclub this afternoon 🤣🤣

Just about to book Herb Alpert at Bristol Beacon. £90ShockShock

WorthySloth · 19/10/2026 17:48

Probably going to book Snayx in Bournemouth in march. Just pricing the hotel up now. They’re playing the Bear Cave

CMOTDibbler · 20/10/2026 19:32

Wow, how is Herb Alpert still going!

He's in his 90s! Apparently has some memory issues but still able to play. I imagine he'll have a supportive band with him. He's one of those you think you'd better go to see while you can.

Quite a lot of the acts I like are getting on. Saw Lee Ritenour (in his 80s) this year and saw Herbie Hancock last year at age 85.

We're seeing Paul Heaton next Thursday. Can't bloody wait, I've been "revising" so I can sing my head off and have a dance

Oh that will be brilliant. I've got him on my Twickets alerts but no luck so far.

MadisonAvenue · 21/10/2026 20:09

I’m seeing Brandon Flowers at the O2 Academy in Birmingham on Saturday and Paul Heaton on Nov 13th at the NIA.

I missed out last time so was on it the minute they came out. He's such a lovely bloke too! I love a "story teller" band

Another Sparks fan checking in! I've had the best time the last year or so seeing them in Glasgow, Edinburgh (I'm based in Scotland), Hong Kong, Tokyo (2 different venues, Duo Music Exchange was awesome!), then Live at Chelsea, Glasgow Kelvingrove Bandstand, London again with Gorillaz, then York, Rock en Seine festival and finally Antwerp. They simply amazing live. I've met some fabulous fellow fans along the way. I also love Franz Ferdinand and saw them also in Hong Kong, Dundee and at Rock en Seine (ever hopeful of a reunion of FFS!). Wish I had seen Steve Hackett again, my first ever gig in 1979! Have seen him since then, just not this year. I love going to gigs! Can't wait for Sparks to announce 2027 dates....

SquashPenguin · 21/10/2026 20:29

Korn next week in Birmingham. So excited.

ShhhYouDontKnowMe · 21/10/2026 20:35

Got Damien Rice tickets (less than £100 though not by much) - could probably have held out and gone for a better day and seats but am in meetings when the general sale is on so didn’t want to risk it. Dragging the kids along and making a night of it. Haven’t seen him since 2003, can’t wait!

Saw Franz Ferdinand this year for the first time and was blown away. They were absolutely brilliant. I wasn't expecting much to be honest because I only knew a couple of their songs but what an entertainer that guy is.

Truinio · 21/10/2026 23:56

Got tickets for Green Lung in December and Castle Rat next year. Both are becoming really popular so it’s going to be the last chance to see them in smaller venues (if you count the Roundhouse and the Electric Ballroom as small). Seen them both already this year, absolutely amazing live and a wonderful, inclusive crowd. Properly heavy music, but with clear, intelligible (and intelligent!) vocals and beautiful melodic playing. Riley Pinkerton, the Rat Queen, has the most incredible stage presence too.

WorthySloth · 22/10/2026 09:19

Just booked my SNAYX tickets for march at the bear cave 😁

Crushed23 · 25/10/2026 02:40

Saw Pixies tonight in NYC - amazing! 🤩 It was a short set as the event was an interview followed by a performance (part of the New Yorker Festival), but still great.

Probably my favourite band ever. First saw them in 1989. They're just fabulous.

I saw FF. Musically? Brill. But 1h 55m? No. Far too short.

Loved Mon, the support though

LittleJustice · 25/10/2026 12:13

Honestly, 1 hour 55 minutes for an indie rock gig is a decent length. Most bands only play for 75 to 90 minutes. What exactly were you expecting?

ShhhYouDontKnowMe · 25/10/2026 12:18

1hr55 is loads - 90 mins is about standard for a headliner that isn’t Bruce Springsteen!

TheLambtonWorm · 25/10/2026 12:27

Going to see Shinedown next month with support from Coheed and Cambria and another band in not massively familiar with and can't remember off the top of my head. Used to be at gigs every week but I actually can't remember the last band I saw now. Possibly Offspring around this time last year.

^ this.

The Cure are another well known for incredibly long sets… though did see a Brian Jonestown Massacre gig that lasted 3 and a half hours once.
