Hope everyone has started their 30 day challenge... let us know how you're getting on

Day 16 Wednesday - half way through, workout 10!
Felt much better and didn't skip any exercises, and still only burnt 126 calories, it took 38 minutes. What happened to 20 minute workouts!? I was crap at the volleyball and tennis, but the boxing was great!
I have changed to the female trainer, just so I don't get too bored.
DH is getting increasingly annoyed at the lateness of dinner though...

How's everyone else getting on?

futurity · 18/06/2009 16:18

I know what you mean about the workouts getting longer..I had to skip a few things today otherwise I wouldn't of been able to give my kids breakfast let alone get them to school! I will have to get up earlier!

Number 11 today..went well..nasty epic kick backs getting slightly easier! My wii control keeps playing up and turning off so will need to sort that out as it is very annoying in the middle of basketball!

Smalline · 18/06/2009 20:02

Workout 10 for me today, took me 34 minutes, burnt 190 calories, there were far too many tricep kickbacks for my liking.

I see that you have also done workout 10 tonight Annie, I wonder why there is such a difference in calories burnt.

futurity · 18/06/2009 22:51

the calories burnt are calculated based on your weight and height which is why we are all getting different results even though doing the same exercises at the same intensity. Think that is right anyway!

AnnieShamrockInYourEar · 19/06/2009 10:55

Day 17 Thursday - Workout 11 (supposed to be a rest day, but I need to catch up!)
Much quicker tonight, only 23 minutes, and burnt 112 calories. And I did everything! And DH even joined in, but kept telling me to hold my tummy in... he of the beer belly.
Smalline I hate the tricep kickbacks too. LOVE the boxing though!!

Thanks futurity for explaining that. I really am trying honest.

Up and down with the lbs, but haven't lost any weight overall. Dammit.

Workout day 11 - I was hopeless at the Baseball. Burnt 142 calories, thanks futurity you are right, I just didn't think of that.

Smalline · 20/06/2009 22:24

Workout 12 today, lunges, lunges & even more lunges, come on, surely there must more exercises that raises our heart rate and makes the exercise less repetitive, I wouldn't mind but the pace is so slow sometimes, I get so impatient.

Burnt 232 calories tonight.

futurity · 21/06/2009 20:32

I agree on the obsession with lunges..I am sure I am getting a bit of definition on my legs and arms doing all these work outs but my tummy ain't changing at all..wish there was more tummy exercises!

You are all miles ahead of me - I did workout 8 yesterday and burnt 135 calories - but I cheat on the holding squats and inline skating. I really do think they could have added more of the boxing, dancing, tennis etc at this stage to keep me motivated.

AnnieShamrockInYourEar · 22/06/2009 12:39

Days 18, 19 and 20, rest days (ok, well drinking/hangover days... not part of a healthy diet)

Day 21 tonight. Workout 12. I will I will I will. Running out of days!

Smalline 232 calories! That's amazing!!

Glad to see everyone is toning up - so it will be worth it!

tigerbear · 22/06/2009 14:11

Oh, am I the only one to have failed in spectacular fashion??
I started off well on the same day as everyone else, and did about 5 days, then had a manic time with work (not getting back home until 10 or midnight most days), then went on holiday for 6 days. Resulting in missing about 17 days!!! Noooo

I started again from scratch this morning, so have reset it to begin the 30 day challenge again (but can't work out how to put my weight and height in again, and choose my avatar, etc - it didn't give me the option).

Really enjoyed this morning -set it to the toughest setting to punish myself for not doing it for so long!

Agree with Sis that there could be more boxing, tennis, etc, instead of boring lunges. The inline skating and running kick backs KILLED me. It seems that the things I like don't go on long enough (like the boxing).

Has anyone else noticed any proper tummy exercises yet?

Squiffy · 22/06/2009 14:47

Tiger - I am a shameless skiver too - only just moving round again after knocking out a rib. I will try tonight to see if I can rejig the workout to eliminate the lunges and the high-impact stuff so I can just stick to tennis and boxing and similar - GP reckons this should be OK.... we shall see...

AnnieShamrockInYourEar · 22/06/2009 15:29

tigerbear, I think if you click on Profile before you go to the 30 day challenge, you can edit it from there, and enter your height etc. I think!
Haven't noticed any proper tummy exercises either. Damn them!

Squiffy, you take it slow girl! You can untick the exercise that you don't want to do at the beginning of the workout.

Smalline · 22/06/2009 20:20

Workout 13 today, wow that was a killer, 3 sets of inline skating, followed by jumping squats after each set, it knocked the breath out of me each time!

Tomorrow promises to be my favourite, lunges, I just can't wait

tigerbear · 22/06/2009 20:24

Squiffy - at least you had a proper excuse!!

sis · 23/06/2009 10:19

Did workout number 10 last night - away for work tonight and on holiday next week. I am trying to do some 'extra' sessions this week so that I don't have too much to catch up on when we get back from holiday - ever the optimist!

tigerbear · 23/06/2009 11:32

HI all,
Just did Wii session for today - burned 153 calories - yey!
Soooo bored of the lunges though - it seemed like they were every other exercise (however on the positive side, I can now do them without wobbling!).

Things which really annoyed me today - not having enough tennis and boxing. And mainly, that the nunchuk kept flying out of the holder when I was trying to play tennis - it was pushed right down in the correct position, but as I was transfering from forehand to back hand, the motion gradually pulled it out, resulting in me trying to frantically push it back in again, and missing loads of the tennis!! Grrr....

And is anyone else suprised that the cool down is so short - doesn't seem much point in doing the walk, for about 10 seconds!

futurity · 23/06/2009 13:19

Does the nunchuk thingy go in the leg holder when playing tennis...I thought you held it? (ignore me if that is wrong..been a long day already!)

Even lost count what number I am up to! Think I did number 13 this morning with some interesting baseball knocking down cans. I would like more tennis and boxing as well.

Can't believe the end is in sight! I think I will continue with it but probably not 5 times a week as that has been hard to fit in. I had to stop my running for a bit to make time but started again this week as have started my 16 week training plan for half marathon in October.

tigerbear · 23/06/2009 21:00

Hi Futurity - hmm, maybe I was doing it wrong with the nunchuk! I think you're right in that you hold it instead!

Which half marathon are you doing? I just signed up for the Great North Run.
What length are your runs?

The end is def not in sight for me - I had to start again, so am only on day two

Smalline · 23/06/2009 21:49

Workout 14, a killer on the legs again today, squat hold, followed by jump lunges followed by alternating lunges followed by jump lunges followed by squat hold finished off with squats with calf raises, I'm still walking though. Burnt about 196 calories

MaggieTulliver · 23/06/2009 22:24

Did you guys all get this as a mumsnet product test?

I just bought this myself and have done day 1, burning 131 calories. Quite impressed. Just hope I can stick at it.

futurity · 24/06/2009 07:34

Tigerbear - I am doing the Royal Parks Half in London in October. The furthest I have run so far is 10 miles so I can see it is possible Just started the training plan and have a 5 mile run to do today.

MaggieTulliver: Yes..Mumsnet put a request asking if anyone wanted to trial out a new Wii game in London so we went to Covent Garden to some very nice offices and trialled the game with Emma Forbes and Austin Healey and ate healthy food! Then we signed up for trial where by we do the 30 day challenge and comment on how we are getting on and we got sent the game for free. Glad I have done it..the whole experience from London to trialling the game has been a laugh, toned me up and made me do something different for a change!

AnnieShamrockInYourEar · 24/06/2009 10:44

Day 21 Monday, wimped out I was too tired

Day 22 Tuesday, was going to wimp out as I was too tired, and fed up after bedtime chaos, but DH took over bedtime so I did it and I felt LOads better!
Workout 12, about a million lunges (had to skip two sets) and long running, and it took 35 mins and burnt 149 calories, the most so far. I was crap at volleyball and basketball, but it was nice for a change!

Need to catch up though!

Tigerbear, yes I think you hold both the remote and the nunchuck for the tennis, though control of the 'racket' is just the remote I think...

Yoga class now. Very impressed with you half marathoners, three laps of that track and I nearly collapsed...
