Doing ok with tennis apart from the backhand [hopeless emoticon]

Hello Fitness Buffs!!

Day 2 Wednesday - REST! Well, I had a yoga class in the morning, and then went out on the razz after work, so No Time to workout unless drunk which I suspect isn't recommended!

Day 3 Thursday - I continued with a 25 minute workout, which burned 102 calories (projected 92 I think). Involved running, with high kicks etc, tennis, lots of lunges and some shoulder presses, which causes the resistance band to snap out of the handles!
But I could feel the burn after the 25 minutes, and have some aches in my inner thighs today, which have been sorted out by my Pilates class now.

Looking forward to tonight's session!

Everyone sounds like they're doing really well!

Futurity I think the tennis is just timing - hit the ball a second or two Before when you think it should be.
Tigerbear, I think the walking at the beginning and the end is meant to be the warm up, which is rubbish really, as it only lasts about 10 seconds.

Still. I like it. DH laughs at me, but I can run longer than him, ha ha!

sis · 05/06/2009 20:23

Day two for me today. Medium intensity about 140 calories. I did a bit of volleyball, tennis, and baseball in a short customised workout and that was fun but not many calories burned (about 38!) - need t change the difficulty/intensity, I think!

As others have said the 30 day challenge seems to be focused on thighs and upper arms which is fine but I'd like to have slightly less of a wobble to my belly!

Day 3 for me, medium intensity, have burnt between 170 & 190 calories each time, I love the minty smell of the bands, was a bit bored tonight and didn't break out into a sweat like I usually do, I wanted to change to a higher intensity but couldn't see the option to do that, I'd be very grateful if someone could advise me how to do that, thanks.

Overall I'm finding it okay, it needs some warm up and cool down exercises and also some stomach exercises, as I don't feel as if it is working my whole body.

Smalline · 06/06/2009 08:38

Sorry I've exaggerated a little with my burnt calories it's between 130 & 150

AnnieShamrockInYourEar · 06/06/2009 09:31

Day 4 Friday - 20 minutes focused on upper body, so lots of bicep curls and shoulder presses. Glad to say the resistance band didn't snap this time. Some running and tennis target and inline skating as well. I didn't feel as hot as last time, I think I need to up the intensity as well. Smalline, I think when it asks if you did such-and-such yesterday (easy intensity, electronic music, something else) I guess if you say no, then you can change it there. I haven't tried it though.
Burnt just over 70 calories. Not enough for a glass of wine...
Also agree with sis, I would like to lose the belly wobble! Early days though, I can feel the wobble when I run...

A little achey in the thighs still, and I could definitly feel it in my shoulders and elbows while I was in the throes of it.

Still enjoying it and looking forward to the next one, but DH is bored of it now (he only joins in the 'real exercises' like running!!)...

I also did a Pilates class yesterday, so I expect that helped to easy any aching.

Keep it up, everyone!!

futurity · 06/06/2009 12:50

Day 4 this morning (after having done a 5K run..polish my halo lol!). All that jumping and lunging...ouch! Rest of it went well and am enjoying the boxing (which I haven't done much of yet). Burnt 97 calories.

I normally get bored of things like this quite soon but even though there is repeatitive stuff in it , I like the fact that every session is different and that is keeping my interest.

AnnieShamrockInYourEar · 06/06/2009 15:12

Blimey futurity, 5K! Well done you. I'm knackered after the 2 minute run!

I have also put ON a lb so far. That'll be my muscles weighing more than my fat...

Julezboo · 06/06/2009 20:08

Me and DP started this a few days ago. Day 3 of exercise today, We got some dance in there which was fun! burned 98 calories, target was 66 so did well i think!

I ache though!!!

Smalline · 07/06/2009 12:15

Day 4: Managed to up the intensity to high, many thanks Annie for your help! Projected calorie burn was 167.8 managed to burn 177.8

More of the usual stuff today, shoulder press, bicep curls, lunges, squats, the jumping lunges were a killer! at one point I had the jumping lunges followed by squats... ouch.

I do get a bit frustrated with the trainer sometimes, I find the pace a bit slow at times and go ahead of myself iykwim, only to hear a voice saying don't worry if you can't do this exercise blah blah blah, I can do the exercise it's just that I might have moved my hand at the wrong time or something like that.

futurity · 07/06/2009 12:23

Did day 5 today (no rest day..naughty me! will have rest tomorrow). More boxing - horray! More inline skating...ouch! My kids stood behind me the whole time copying exactly what I was doing..was very cute.

Get annoyed with the lady on the shoulder press (I think it was) when it doesn't recognise your movement (or lack of it!) and just hangs for ages whilst you try to persuade it that you are standing still. This has happened most days and it is annoying but I can cope with it unless it gets worse.

AnnieShamrockInYourEar · 07/06/2009 15:01

Day 5 Saturday - approx 20 mins workout, burnt about 90 calories I think. And I've lost that lb again! Phew! Running, lunging, including jumping lunges which are NOT good for my knees! skating, boxing and some arm work. Still enjoying it, not really aching, and starting to feel toned, though that could be just my imagination...

Smalline, glad it worked, must try it myself now! Sometimes I find that too, you'll have your arm stuck up in the air, but it doesn't get recognised, so I THINK I pressed A and it re-set it, but that might have been a fluke. And, futurity, I somehow managed to do 4 shoulder presses while I was trying to get the resistance band ready !! So I guess it's whatever way you are holding the remote, rather than your real actual position that registers.

Day 6 today - REST! Well, I'll see how I feel later... quite fancy doing it, it's addictive!!

NeedaNewName · 07/06/2009 15:13

Yay I've found you - posted somewhere else but now I know where to come.

First of all when I told DH i got this game we shoudl get a Wii he said no (something about having no money, buying a house etc etc!) Anyway the game finally arrived on Friday (was stuck at the post office Friday was the first chance I had to go and get it. DH sees it and says so do you want a Wii then? Y E S ! ! !

So we went and got a Wii yesterday and have done my first work out! Forgot how tiring it was!

No boxing yet so arms OK. Very easy to set up, must remember not to wear jeans as the thigh strap kept falling down, especially when running. Did make a mistake and tried to catch up with someone else ont he track and ended up with chest pains (well a stitch in that area really but chest pains sounds so more dramatic) so think will not be so stupid tonight!!!

As long as I keep to it and not put it off I really do think it could make a difference, will be back later.

NeedaNewName · 07/06/2009 18:16

Right just done day 2 - found the lunges tricky(and had lots of them), don;t think I had the nunchuck/legstrap in the right place - ending up nearly getting cramp and having to miss out a few exercises.

Still on low intensity.

Wore more suitable clothing this time and the leg strap didn;t fall down so running was much easier - no chest pains either!

Did lots of upper body stuff, can feel it in my arms so hopefully will be able to get rid of the bingo wings!

Was supposed to burn 115 calories but for some reason only burnt off 104 calories - how many maltesers is that?

sis · 07/06/2009 20:13

Day 4 for me today and it was okay as there was a bit of dancing but I still find it a bit boring with all the gym type repetitions - I wish the owrkouts had more dance or tennis or boxing or volleyball to break things up a bit!

Futurity, I have had the same thing happening - when it freezes and won't recognise that I am doing the exercise. I think I worked out what the problem was - I was holding the nunchuck slightly differently to the way they were. I was holding it so the knobbly bit was sticking out just over where my fingers and thumb met up whilst they hold it so the knobbly bit is just above the bit of skin between the thumb and index finger. Maybe it was just fluke, but when I changed my hold, the rest of the session was fine.

futurity · 08/06/2009 18:21

thanks for that Sis..I will try and adjust how I hold the nunchunk. On a rest day today but did just have a play for half an hour doing boxing whilst both DS's stood next to me doing it as well Then did Inline skating...ouch! Then a bit of tennis which I have finally got the hang of..not perfect but at least can hit the target. Bit of baseball and volleyball..all very American!

sis · 08/06/2009 19:26

Day 5 here - did the 22 minute workout but didn't have time for any extras. It was supposed to burn 103 calories but somehow my ineptitude meant that I burned 115 calories. I really hate the lunge jumps and the squat jumps!

Smalline · 08/06/2009 22:03

Workout day 5, the high intensity is fine for me at the moment, a few new exercises today, back lunge leg raises, heavy punch bag, and tricep kickbacks, all good fun, only swore at the Wii a few times tonight. Projected calorie burn was 187.3 managed 198.7

Smalline · 08/06/2009 22:10

Ooh I've been promised a 'full body' workout next time do you think that might include abs?

futurity · 09/06/2009 09:45

Did day 6 this morning...high intensity for the first time. Inline skating lasted ages! Basketball was fun. It got stuck again on some of the movements but I am alot better and getting it to work again (I shout at it..that helps! )

Not lost any weight but don't really expect to...do feel better for it though.

ahhhh, here you all are.

I didn't get my game until the weekend because it was one of the ones sent out late and then no-one was at home ot sign for it, so I have only done two days. Medium on 1st day - 148 cals, then low on second day (having learnt my lesson) but somehow managed to burn more calories on lower intensity.

Views so far? Am already fed up with lunge kicks and am already swearing at American trainer ("you're doing gggggrrrrreeeeaaat". no I'm not, and even if I was I don't need the Frosties tiger to tell me).

My main niggle is that when we are doing the stuff with the band, is it just me, or is it all a bit slow? I ask because I had a (real) personal trainer for a year (Yes, I did slim, but my bank account slimmed faster) and I remember how I always had to breathe out on the 'up' and in on the 'down', but it is impossible to do this with this training thing (without gasping like a guppy). Does anyone know if it speeds up at some point?

Although God help me if it speeds up on high kicks....

Other than that am currently thinking I might actually get into this thing. And I am aching, so something good is going on.

AnnieShamrockInYourEar · 09/06/2009 16:23

Day 7 Monday. Upped the intensity to Medium - yaay me! - which really just meant extra reps, 12 instead of 8. It was mainly an upper body workout, and I didn't feel it as much as before... only burnt 92 calories (projected 87). Hmm. Still, carrying on...

I agree with you Squiffy, about the trainer, in one lunge 'you're really owning this exercise!', the next lunge 'I can see you need to work a bit harder...' Shaaddup.
I tend to use Pilates breath when doing it, despite what he says.

Looking forward to the promised basketball tonight!

NeedaNewName · 09/06/2009 21:45

Supposed to day 3 today but went to WW instead now too tired - will do tomorrow instead! Is that really bad?!

However the advertising thing really works - a friend of mine went out and bought it on my recommendation of our morning trialing it - she is loving it so far thoguh also hates the lunges!!!
