1. What did you particularly like about the Homepride Slow Cooker Sauces?

The ease of use was great, as I usually make sauces, marinades etc from scratch myself. The flavours tasted like I would expect if I had made them myself.
The pulled pork, in particular, I was very pleased with as the user adds the sugar content themselves to taste, as I use very little or none at all when making it.

1. What was your family's favourite thing about the Homepride Slow Cooker Sauces you tried?

Rich flavour, and we could taste the spices and herbs used, which I don't think you often can with ready made sauces, which is why I rarely buy them.

1. Would you recommend the Homepride Slow Cooker range to others? Why?

Yes I would recommend both sauces I tried. They were a huge time saver to use, and at this moment in time, with homeschooling and lack of childcare, finding time to do meal prep for scratch is definitely being neglected. They tasted like a meal I had put time and effort into, when infact there was no effort on my part at all.

Sticky Chinese sauce like a Char Sui/roast pork.

So this means we can pop everything in the slow cooker and the kids can help themselves thru out the day while we are working

1. It was very easy to use and set up the slow cooker with the ingredients. The meat also cooked really well in the sauce and became very tender.
   

1. They enjoyed the thickness of the sauce and the flavours. Particularly the pulled pork.

These were not easy to find in shops. One shop didn’t have them at all and because the packaging is so small they got lost in amongst the jars of cook in sauces. The size could be a bit deceptive to those looking for a large family meal.

I’m really sorry but I didn’t really find anything positive in them at all.
Their only use in my opinion would be for someone who is not at all confident cooking and dislikes having to add a few teaspoons of spice to a meal, I wouldn’t recommend them for people with dexterity problems like arthritis as i think the plastic pouches are difficult to open.

They both tasted the same to us..tomatoey! given that we tried chilli and curry I was quite surprised.

No, we don’t like the lack of flavour. I thought they were horrendously expensive given that it was necessary to add onion and tomatoes to the meal too. I’d prefer a sauce with no other additions at that price point!

We tried the Chicken Curry and Chilli. I shop online and the vouchers were for in store only, but had committed to test them so bought them anyway.
They tasted fine but if I am in a hurry and want to do a slow cooker curry I would just add a jar of korma or tikka to diced browned chicken and it turns out well, no chopping of onions and adding tins of tomatoes.
Again the chilli tasted fine, but I would normally make a slow cooker chilli using passatta, kidney beans ,crushed chillis, onion but with the pouch you have to buy and add tomatoes, kidney beans, peppers etc which means its more expensive than making from scratch so not really worth spending money on the pouch.
I did think the sauces for both were a good consistency though. When I go to a supermarket again in person I will use the vouchers to try other flavours but to be honest I wouldn't buy them on a regular basis as they are no easier than other methods. Always good to try something new though so thank you.

We tried the beef and ale stew and chicken curry flavours. I would’ve liked to have tried the pulled pork sauce but it wasn’t available.

The easiness of just adding the sauce to the slow cooker without having to think about flavouring and seasoning and forgetting about it once everything was prepped.

Maybe not as they currently are. The sauces were easy to use but the flavours we tried were not to our taste. The herbs in the beef and ale sauce were overpowering and it still tasted quite concentrated, there wasn’t a massive amount of sauce in the finished dish. The curry, on the other hand, was really bland, I’m not very good at making curries at home and I don’t think this tasted any better than what I manage which was disappointing as I was looking forward to a really flavoursome home cooked curry.

Maybe a sweet and sour sauce or a honey mustard flavour. Something a bit different from the usual casserole and pulled pork slow cooker meals I usually make. Or maybe just a better curry.

We tried beef and ale and chilli con carne, both were tasty and easy to prepare. My only hesitation is that they both say to brown off everything first which I don't normally do so added a little prep extra time. Otherwise good value and a hit with my 4 year old, especially the chilli! Would recommend for an easy mid week meal.

My usual supermarket does not stock the range but I found the Beef and Ale at my large Asda 24 hours store for £1.
We found it far too thick and gloopy and not particularly pleasant tasting plus expensive compared to my usual home made version which everyone agreed is much superior.
I found the pulled pork variant in Morrison’s today at a whopping £1.50. Will report properly on both once we have tried the second product.

Not really as Koh I Noor (I think that's the name), is twice the size and cheaper but I would like to try other flavours if there was more sauce for the money. However, must say during busy times it makes life easy and using two packets would still be cheaper than a takeaway for a whole family. Unfortunately I couldn't purchase the chilli con carne as Sainsbury's didn't have it.
