Which Toomies Bath Toy did you test, and what was your initial impression of the toy?

The Fountain Rocket. My first impression was that it looked very basic (I had been hoping that it had more features than the description -it didn't) and also excessive packaging.

What did you or your child like or dislike about this toy?

The 2.5 spent about 5 mins playing with it in the bath until she got bored of it not doing much. She now likes to put things in it to carry around like a handbag and wear it as a bracelet outside of the bath. The 14 month old has paid no attention to it at all, but she hates baths and anything that might splash her. I tried it on her as it's supposed to be a gentle way to get children's hair wet. She screamed, and still didn't get that wet.

Would you choose to purchase this bath toy over other bath toys in the future?

No. I was disappointed we tested this one as I think my girls would have loved the foam cone and the octopals but thus was too simple for them. It might suit a child much younger than the 12+ months it is currently advertised for.

Would you recommend Toomies Bath Toys to your friends and family based on your experience with this toy?

I'm going to pass it on to a relative with a younger child, does that count?

If you could add or change a feature what would it be?

More features of any kind. Perhaps different jets or a better variety of water exit points that they could switch on and off.

  • Which Toomies Bath Toy did you test, and what was your initial impression of the toy?
Octopals, it looks fun and both children were playing with it before it even reached the bathroom! The numbers are also good for my older child, he recognised most of the numbers and could match them up with the spaces on the mum.
  • What did you or your child like or dislike about this toy?
The squirty toys are always a big hit in our house.
  • Would you choose to purchase this bath toy over other bath toys in the future?
Quite possibly
  • Would you recommend Toomies Bath Toys to your friends and family based on your experience with this toy?
Yes
  • If you could add or change a feature what would it be?
I don't think there's anything I'd change
Iknowacrackingowlsanctuary · 30/08/2019 19:27

Which Toomies Bath Toy did you test, and what was your initial impression of the toy?
We tested the octopals. I liked that all the packaging was recyclable. My boys were very excited to get the box open.

  • What did you or your child like or dislike about this toy?
They enjoyed squirting each other and my 1 year old found it very easy to squirt, which hasn’t been the case with other bath toys. They liked the octopus head too.
  • Would you choose to purchase this bath toy over other bath toys in the future?
Yes
  • Would you recommend Toomies Bath Toys to your friends and family based on your experience with this toy?
Yes
  • If you could add or change a feature what would it be?
The numbers on the base could be a different colour as they’re very hard to see. I’m unsure how easy the squirters are going to be to keep mould free.

Which Toomies Bath Toy did you test, and what was your initial impression of the toy?

We tested the rocket. My initial impression was that it was very basic.

  • What did you or your child like or dislike about this toy?

My son absolutely hated the water fountain part of the toy which is basically its only feature. My 4 year old enjoyed it as a novel way to wash his hair though.

  • Would you choose to purchase this bath toy over other bath toys in the future?

No definitely not.

  • Would you recommend Toomies Bath Toys to your friends and family based on your experience with this toy?

No I wouldn’t

  • If you could add or change a feature what would it be?

I don’t think I would change the toy just maybe aim it at a slightly older child. My son is 12 months old. He sits in a seat in the bath and the safe level of water we can have with the seat meant that he couldn’t really reach the toy himself. When I filled it for him he hated it and just cried. So it was really no use for him. My 4 year old on the other hand played with it for ages and loved using it to wash his hair.

  • Which Toomies Bath Toy did you test, and what was your initial impression of the toy?
Octopals! My first impression was it looked fun and colourful but would be slightly worried that the squirty ones would go mouldy as all previous bath toys we have had like that did and ended up in the bin.
  • What did you or your child like or dislike about this toy?
My son loved this toy as soon as he saw it he played with it after I got I out of the box and then again in the bath. He was very excited for bath time tonight as he couldn’t wait to play with them again. He really loves sticking them to the side of the bath.
  • Would you choose to purchase this bath toy over other bath toys in the future?
Yes I would depending on if they go mouldy It would make a great gift.
  • Would you recommend Toomies Bath Toys to your friends and family based on your experience with this toy?
Yes I would
  • If you could add or change a feature what would it be?
Nothing other than if there is something that can be done to prevent mould.
MooKnee · 30/08/2019 19:34
  • Which Toomies Bath Toy did you test, and what was your initial impression of the toy?
octipals and initial impression was very good, they looked fun and colourful and loved that they are also educational with the shapes aspect
  • What did you or your child like or dislike about this toy?
he laughed a lot when I squeezed the water at him and even more so when his sister joined in, he also liked the mummy octopus that had a shower effect
  • Would you choose to purchase this bath toy over other bath toys in the future?
definately would and would gift it to someone too
  • Would you recommend Toomies Bath Toys to your friends and family based on your experience with this toy?
yes 100%
  • If you could add or change a feature what would it be?
I’d make the green base a bit smaller, seemed a bit clunky and big
anitagreen · 30/08/2019 19:35
  • Which Toomies Bath Toy did you test, and what was your initial impression of the toy? When we saw it we was very excited as it looks fun before yo even get it started, we tested the ice cream cone one, -

What did you or your child like or dislike about this toy?there was nothing to dislike it was really clever never seen a toy like it before for the bath, my children loved it and wouldn't get out the bath after as they wanted to play!

  • Would you choose to purchase this bath toy over other bath toys in the future?Yes 100%
  • Would you recommend Toomies Bath Toys to your friends and family based on your experience with this toy? Yes I would it's really fun my 4 year old especially loved it even though the age is 18 months plus
  • If you could add or change a feature what would it be? I wouldn't change anything it's fine as it is! Thank you for letting us test
Elpheba · 30/08/2019 19:44

Which Toomies Bath Toy did you test, and what was your initial impression of the toy?

Foam cone pals. I had seen this advertised and so had 3 year old DD. Her face literally lit up with excitement when she opened the box and she couldn’t get up to the bath quick enough! She remembered seeing the advert and was excited to try it. I thought it looked inviting and was glad the packaging was recyclable.

  • What did you or your child like or dislike about this toy?
DD is 3y4months and loved it. Was able to pull the handle easily enough and enjoyed making ice cream for us all. DS had a go but at 14 months wasn’t quite strong enough (understandably as it’s designed for 18m+ I think). It did sometimes slide down the tiles but I imagine the handle would ease over time. I didn’t like that it wasn’t clear to see whether it was cleaned out properly inside and I’m not sure I’d be able to see if mould was inside which would be a big concern. I loved how occupied they both were at bath time!
  • Would you choose to purchase this bath toy over other bath toys in the future?

Possibly but would depend on price. I tend to avoid complicated bath toys because of the potential for mould. Being able to properly clean and dry the inside would be a game changer for me.

  • Would you recommend Toomies Bath Toys to your friends and family based on your experience with this toy?
Yes
  • If you could add or change a feature what would it be?

As pp said- magically prevent it from getting mouldy!

Finchbon · 30/08/2019 19:51

Which Toomies Bath Toy did you test, and what was your initial impression of the toy?

The ice cream factory. I was almost beyond it by the time I got into the packaging so much tape and wire and string (luckily I'd opened it while my daughter was at nursery or she would have lost the plot too waiting for me).
I thought it looked great. Chunky colourful and easy to see how to use it

  • What did you or your child like or dislike about this toy?
She loved it. Squealed when she saw it set up at bath time. Understood the principles of how to operate it really quickly and made my multiple "ice creams" while she was having her bath. She disliked the fact it wasn't real ice cream and was gutted when I pointed out she couldn't eat it!
  • Would you choose to purchase this bath toy over other bath toys in the future?
Nice to see a toy aimed at a slightly older demographic. Yes I think it is the type of toy I'd go for
  • Would you recommend Toomies Bath Toys to your friends and family based on your experience with this toy?
Definitely
  • If you could add or change a feature what would it be?
It's big. I found when the bath was filled it had to be stuck up really high otherwise there really wasn't enough room for the cone and pulling down the handle without submerging them. (Maybe we just like deep baths in our house!) I didn't have the issue I've seen others mention about it sliding down the bath. I've found it "stuck" really well
wineandcheeseplease · 30/08/2019 20:01
  • Which Toomies Bath Toy did you test, and what was your initial impression of the toy?
The foam cone machine. It looked great upon opening it up and my daughter was very excited.
  • What did you or your child like or dislike about this toy?

It feels flimsy, but my daughter loved it totally.

  • Would you choose to purchase this bath toy over other bath toys in the future?

No, I'm unsure of the quality of it.

  • Would you recommend Toomies Bath Toys to your friends and family based on your experience with this toy?

No, as above

  • If you could add or change a feature what would it be?

I think it just needs to be more sturdy for a childs use.

Someaddedsugar · 30/08/2019 20:04

Q. Which Toomies Bath Toy did you test, and what was your initial impression of the toy?
A. We tested the Toomies Octopals. My initial reaction was that it was brightly coloured and would be engaging for little ones. DS took the box and ran around with it and was very excited just by the box nevermind the contents!

Q What did you or your child like or dislike about this toy?
A We both really like the colours and the squirty elements to the toy. DS also really liked using the mummy octopal to pour water on the baby octopals. He also liked seeing if he could stick them to the side of the bath and then knock them off one at a time. My one dislike is that they aren't easily cleaned - you can't unscrew them or access the insides of each of the baby octopals and so can't actually tell whether black mould has started to form inside and this would be a real concern was I to purchase this myself.

Q Would you choose to purchase this bath toy over other bath toys in the future?
A Probably not, but only due to the inability to clean inside the toys. I appreciate you need to squeeze all of the water out but it's not always possible to get every last drop and therefore it's inevitable that mould will start to form at some point.

Q Would you recommend Toomies Bath Toys to your friends and family based on your experience with this toy?
A I would recommend the brand but probably not this particular toy.

Q If you could add or change a feature what would it be?
A Some kind of easy clean feature - similar to the Munchkin Easy Clean Bath Squirts where you can unscrew the middle to easily dry clean the insides and prevent mould from forming.

Kelbell444 · 30/08/2019 20:07

ich Toomies Bath Toy did you test, and what was your initial impression of the toy?
We tested the toomies octopals. My first thought was that it was colourful, bright and inviting to play with.

  • What did you or your child like or dislike about this toy?
I like that it floats and that they suction on to the tiles. Also impressed that it came fastened with paper ties not plastic. The 'mummy' octopus doesn't seem to sit in the middle very well and falls off very easily.
  • Would you choose to purchase this bath toy over other bath toys in the future?
If the price was right. Would make a nice gift.
  • Would you recommend Toomies Bath Toys to your friends and family based on your experience with this toy?
Yes.
  • If you could add or change a feature what would it be?
The numbers on the Base to be a different colour so they stand out making it easier for my child to match them up. As it is she hasn't really noticed them.
Ratbagratty · 30/08/2019 20:27

Which Toomies Bath Toy did you test, and what was your initial impression of the toy?
Foam ice cream factory

  • What did you or your child like or dislike about this toy? Liked the role playing of ice cream making and eating. Disliked that it was hard for her to pull the lever and this also caused it to keep sliding down the tiles.
  • Would you choose to purchase this bath toy over other bath toys in the future. No, but I loved the idea just poorly executed
  • Would you recommend Toomies Bath Toys to your friends and family based on your experience with this toy? Sorry no, The plastic on the sprinkler and other parts were thinner than some of the plastic packaging. Also struggled to get out of the packaging especially the cable ties.
  • If you could add or change a feature what would it be? More sprinkles in the sprinkler and possibly a way of making the disappear and reappear.
CinnamonTwist · 30/08/2019 20:47
  • Which Toomies Bath Toy did you test, and what was your initial impression of the toy?

We tested the cone factory. My first impression was that it looked a lot of fun, the packaging was quite fiddly to remove, especially with an impatient toddler watching.

  • What did you or your child like or dislike about this toy?

I am not exaggerating when I say this toy has actually revolutionised our bathtimes. We give our son a bath every weeknight as he comes home from nursery completely filthy, and it has always been a huge battle. He loves this toy; he now can’t wait to get in the bath in the evening and we even had a tantrum at the weekend as he wasn’t going to have a bath and he wanted to play with the ice cream maker.

  • Would you choose to purchase this bath toy over other bath toys in the future?

Yes, although the arm is quite flimsy and it can be too stiff for my son to pull down, making the toy slip down off the wall, it also uses a lot of bubble mix!

  • Would you recommend Toomies Bath Toys to your friends and family based on your experience with this toy?

Yes I would

  • If you could add or change a feature what would it be?

Make the arm easier to pull down, and the suction cups stronger. Also if possible reduce the amount of packaging.

Thank you Mumsnet for the opportunity to test this toy, you have saved our bathtimes (especially helpful currently as I’m in the early stages of pregnancy again and feeling horribly sick with a low patience threshold!)

Beach11 · 30/08/2019 20:58

Which Toomies Bath Toy did you test, and what was your initial impression of the toy? We tested Octopals. First impressions were it looked bright and entertaining.

  • What did you or your child like or dislike about this toy? The dc liked that it floated and each octopi floated and squirted water. They also likes that each octopi had its own place to sit on the float
  • Would you choose to purchase this bath toy over other bath toys in the future? Yes I would purchase over other bath toys because it had multifunctions and was bright. It was well made
  • Would you recommend Toomies Bath Toys to your friends and family based on your experience with this toy? Definitely recommend to friends/family
  • If you could add or change a feature what would it be? It would be good if a colour matching element could be added to it.
I just hope the inside of the octopi don’t go mouldy and yucky- how to stop this happening would be very useful.

I the dc are loving playing with the Octopals and I’m definitely going to purchase as a gift in the future 👍🏻😃

  • Which Toomies Bath Toy did you test, and what was your initial impression of the toy?
Octopals
  • What did you or your child like or dislike about this toy?
The bright colours, my daughter loved the fact that she was strong enough to squash the toys too as they were super soft
  • Would you choose to purchase this bath toy over other bath toys in the future?
Yes, this is a fab toy, all the elements on the toy float which is lovely as her little fingers can grab them without having to fish under the water
  • Would you recommend Toomies Bath Toys to your friends and family based on your experience with this toy?
Absolutely, they are all so well priced, great colours and I truly believe that the target audience for the toys are absolutely spot on.
  • If you could add or change a feature what would it be?
I love this toy as it is, but I wish the octopus in the middle didn’t have holes as that could then be used as a bucket instead.
Cooptime57 · 30/08/2019 21:00

we tested the Toomies "Foam Cone Factory" and our initial thoughts when seeing it was it looked very colourful and interesting and sturdy. My Grandson absolutely loved this bath toy and now asks for his bath knowing he can make pretend ice creams although needing help with the pull down lever. We would definately purchase this bath toy as it kept him interested and made him giggle uncontrollably when the foam bubbles started to ooze out. We have already started to recommend Toomies bath toys widely amongst family, friends and child tot & toddler groups we attend, and have already decided to purchase the other bath toys in this range. A very well made interacting bath toy that will last, if we could change anything we did feel the lever handle was slightly stiff even for the parents so the child needed help. All in all a fantastic bath toy :)

Angelfaced · 30/08/2019 21:13
  • Which Toomies Bath Toy did you test, and what was your initial impression of the toy?

The bath toy we tested was the Toomies fountain rocket. See link below for details:
uk.tomy.com/products/tomy-toomies-fountain-rocket
Initial reaction was very impressed as it was bigger than I thought and looked great especially as my son is crazy about space rockets. It's bright and colourful and just the right size to fit in the corner of the bath after use.

  • What did you or your child like or dislike about this toy?

My son didn't dislike anything about it quite the opposite he was crazy about it. He usually hates getting his hair wet so washing his hair is a nightmare but after showing him the photo of the boy on the packaging holding it over his head lik3 a fountain he.wanted to try and loved it. Thankyou, as this is the first time he has actually got his hair wet and not screamed!! He is 2 years; approaching 3 years. He also loved the holes at the top as he could put some small bath figures he had inside and pretend they were flying in the spaceship.

  • Would you choose to purchase this bath toy over other bath toys in the future?

Yes for sure it's fab value for money and actually made my son wanting to go and stay in the bath when usually it's a battle to get him washed!

  • Would you recommend Toomies Bath Toys to your friends and family based on your experience with this toy?

Most definitely as its been a very positive experience for us.

  • If you could add or change a feature what would it be?

I wouldn't change anything although if i was forced to say something I would say maybe add a little spaceman that can be put in the top holes like my son did with his little bath play toys but we were very happy with it how it is.

Thankyou so much for letting us test this put its been amazing. I will attach some photos of the fun we had woth the Toomies fountain rocket bath toy Smile

  • Which Toomies Bath Toy did you test, and what was your initial impression of the toy?
The fountain rocket, I thought it looked nice and colourful, and interesting, the way the water was pictured coming out of the toy in the packaging.
  • What did you or your child like or dislike about this toy?
My son is 14 months, he loves the water coming out and feeling it as it pours out, it's simple enough that he understands how to fill it up. My other children who are 4 and 5 also enjoy playing with it and using it to pot water over each other's head.
  • Would you choose to purchase this bath toy over other bath toys in the future?
Yes, I like toys that encourage the children to pour the water over themselves so they don't feel worried about getting a wet face
  • Would you recommend Toomies Bath Toys to your friends and family based on your experience with this toy?
Yes, I love the way the water pours out
  • If you could add or change a feature what would it be?
I wouldn't.
PizzaAndChips · 30/08/2019 21:48
  • Which Toomies Bath Toy did you test, and what was your initial impression of the toy? We tested the Foam Cone Factory. Bright colours and open packaging so the toy could be seen meant two very excited little children at bath time!
  • What did you or your child like or dislike about this toy? I don’t like the amount of bubble bath we have used for the toy already but it’s very effecting at producing the foam! We liked the shaker - my daughter couldn’t pull the handle so it was her “job” to put the sprinkles on the ice cream when my slightly older, stronger son had put the foam in the cones. Good for teamwork.
  • Would you choose to purchase this bath toy over other bath toys in the future? Yes, I’d probably buy this as a present as it’s something a bit different and I think most young children would enjoy playing with it.
  • Would you recommend Toomies Bath Toys to your friends and family based on your experience with this toy? Yes. They seem to be well-made and affordable.
  • If you could add or change a feature what would it be? I’m concerned about the mildew that may build up in the toy. There is no clear way to dismantle for cleaning so we won’t know that it’s completely dried after each use.

Which Toomies Bath Toy did you test, and what was your initial impression of the toy?
We tested the Toomies Foam Cone Factory, it looked great nice vibrant colours and loved the cones shaker which my son loves shaking,
What did you or your child like or dislike about this toy?* i found it hard to get out of the box it came with instructions on how to use but not how to put on the wall, we found that as u pulled the handle it slid down the wall on one side quite annoying the handle was also quite stiff for a child to pull, my son loved watching us pull it and giggled then tried to eat the snow cone
Would you choose to purchase this bath toy over other bath toys in the future? not sure
Would you recommend Toomies Bath Toys to your friends and family based on your experience with this toy?* yes they are fun to use in or out of the bath
If you could add or change a feature what would it be? less stiff handle better suction easier to get out of the box

JustLikeJasper · 30/08/2019 22:41

Which Toomies Bath Toy did you test, and what was your initial impression of the toy?

Octopals, it looked fun with the bright colours

  • What did you or your child like or dislike about this toy?

He liked throwing the different squishy toys around the bath and putting his hands under the water coming out the main toy holes, however i didn’t feel it was totally suitable for a 1 year old, my DS liked squishing the toys but was more luck than skill the water squirted out when he did it

  • Would you choose to purchase this bath toy over other bath toys in the future?

No i think there are more suitable ones for his age group

  • Would you recommend Toomies Bath Toys to your friends and family based on your experience with this toy?

Yes I would recommend Toomies bath toys

  • If you could add or change a feature what would it be?

I wouldn’t change anything i can see its a great toy just not for a 1 year old

BeautyBoo · 30/08/2019 22:47

We received the Fountain Rocket and first impressions were good, it looked fun and I knew my daughter would love it

I liked that my daughter could use her imagination with this toy and enjoyed watching her play with it. She liked how the water flowed out of the bottom and enjoyed making up stories of where she would fly her rocket to.

I would definitely purchase this as a gift for someone following our good experience with it.

Yes I would recommend Toomies. This is the 2nd bath toy we've had from them and I think they are decent, long lasting products that provide hours of entertainment.

I think it would be a great idea if the rocket had a feature that meant it could hold the water as it flows through very quickly when lifted

PetyaV · 30/08/2019 22:57

We tested the Foam Cone Factory and our initial impressions were really good.
We both liked how the toy looks like, how funny it’s to play with and how enjoyable was to make an ice cream.
I would choose to purchase this bath toy over others because it’s different and encourages role play l
I would definitely recommend Toomies Bath Toys to friends and family based on my experiences as my little girl enjoyed it so much.
If I could change anything I would make the handle a little bit more easier to pull because it’s quite difficult for such young children to do it on their own.

TeePeeCee · 30/08/2019 23:15

Which Toomies Bath Toy did you test, and what was your initial impression of the toy?

Toomies Fountain Rocket.
I was impressed as soon as I opened the package. Impressed by the toy’s actual packaging and also the look and feel of the toy.

  • What did you or your child like or dislike about this toy?
My child loves this toy, as does my older child! My visiting niece (8yrs old) was present when I opened the toy and she quickly took charge of the “turn taking”. My child loves playing with the toy during baths and has also brought it out of the bathroom to play with it for a period of time without water. I like this aspect. I like the colours and how well made the toy is too. The fountain mechanism works, unlike a previous bath toy I bought. I haven’t found anything I dislike. I like that the toy stands alone in a corner if the bathtub and looks great in that place.
  • Would you choose to purchase this bath toy over other bath toys in the future?

Yes but the price would be the deciding factor for me.

  • Would you recommend Toomies Bath Toys to your friends and family based on your experience with this toy?

Yes

  • If you could add or change a feature what would it be?
Nothing. I like everything about this toy.
