This is the feedback thread for the Mumsnet users who tested out Sunkissed’s Self-Tan Mousse Dark variant and their new innovative Hydrating Jelly Tan.

Which product did you test?

Hydrating jelly tan in light/medium

• What did you like most about your Sunkissed tan?

How being a clear gel it moisturises my skin and covered very easily leaving me with a lovely golden tan.

• What did you think about the smell, when you applied the tan?

It smelt very much to me like a tropical scent i really liked it!

• How long did your tan last?

I applied twice over 2 days to get the tan i wanted and it stayed for a full week with showers inbetween before i felt i needed to apply a little extra.

• How important are cruelty free and natural products to you on a scale of 1-5 (1 not at all - 5 very)?

Yes i would i loved being able to put a fake tan on without having to scrub back off due to streaks.

• Is there anything you would change about this product?

The after smell several hours later is a little off putting so maybe this if the issue could be resolved.

• What did you like most about your Sunkissed tan? I liked that it was buildable and that I didn’t need to wait for it to develop
• What did you think about the smell, when you applied the tan? I didn’t notice any particular smell tbh

• Is there anything you would change about this product? I didn’t like the fact that I couldn’t see where I’d applied the tan, this made it difficult to get it even

It was nice - almost reminded me of holiday 😊

I usually believe that the more expensive, the better but I really liked it!

No I really liked it and was very happy with result.

I tested the Dark Mousse
I liked best that it was very easy to apply, went on smoothly with the mitt.
I thought it smelled good when I applied it but then smelled like other self tans when it dried.
I didn’t think it lasted long- 2 days perhaps
Importance of cruelty free/natural- 5
I would buy it again
I would change the level of colour- even though it was ‘dark’ it was a little too pale for me

I tested the dark tanning mousse I liked it. It smelled great ,it went on evenly with no streaks and it lasted for six days before it started to fade .I would definitely buy this product again.

• What did you like most about your Sunkissed tan?

Easy to apply with minimal effort, especially when using the glove. It also doesn't leave skin feeling tacky afterwards.

• What did you think about the smell, when you applied the tan?

Really liked the smell, not overpowering or really smelt of tan.

• How long did your tan last?

2-3 days before fading after one application

Yes as it's easy to apply, provides a good colour but not too dark, also a moisturiser at the same time.

• Is there anything you would change about this product?

No, would highly recommend!

• What did you think about the smell, when you applied the tan? Usually fake tan smells awful but I didn’t mind the smell of this one.

Easy and quick to apply

I actually quite liked it, didnt find any strong chemically biscuity-ness I've come to expect!

How long did your tan last?
About 4 days then started going a wee bit patchy at my elbows, underarm and knee creases

How important are cruelty free and natural products to you on a scale of 1-5 (1 not at all - 5 very)?
5 very, cannot think why any animal testing needs to be carried out on 'vanity' products

Would you purchase this product again?
Absolutely, really happy with the product, l did have the fear initially at darkness but so pleased with final colour!

Not that l can think of!

It went on really even and left a nice colour and it was easy to use

* Lovely colour, easy to appy, the mitt feels luxurious and its quick to go on, smells lovely

* Very nice, the smell is often the worst thing about fake tan but this smells fresh and lovely but not overpowering

Hi I have already given feedback here as I received the mousse for tan removing. I didn’t receive any of the tans. The tan remover worked well on my ankles and smelt nice.

Self-tan mousse - Dark

• What did you like most about your Sunkissed tan?

As a mousse it was very easy to apply

Not as much as when I have self-tanned in the past! There was less of the 'wet biscuity' smell

• How long did your tan last?

4 days - I also wasn't particularly careful, moisturising or anything so this is pretty good!

3 - I would prefer it, but admit to not checking it carefully

Potentially depending on price, yes

Not at this moment, maybe more moisturising?

The sunkissed dark mousse
- What did you like most about your Sunkissed tan?
The final development colour was nice and natural looking.
- What did you think about the smell, when you applied the tan?
It smelt gorgeous, reminds me of suntan lotion when you go on holiday 😊
- How long did your tan last?
It only lasted around 3 or 4 days ☹️ but it faded quite gradually and rather even so that was a positive!

Regarding against animal testing 5
- Would you purchase this product again?
I would purchase again if I wanted a natural, light looking tan that faded evenly, however the colour just wasn't dark enough for me so wouldn't be my new favourite.
- Is there anything you would change about this product?
I would make the developed colour result darker, plus it has a slight green tinge to it whilst you're waiting for it to develop/before you rinse it off so not suitable in my opinion for use in the daytime.

I liked the packaging, very current and eye catching. Made me think of holidays. I liked the easy application and the lack of mess!

• What did you think about the smell, when you applied the tan?

Smelled good to me, like a nice moisturiser or body lotion. Not a biscuity fake tan smell that ive suffered from before

• How long did your tan last?

I had a good tan for 4-5 days, this is with showering everyday. By day 5 I was starting to appear blotchy in areas, specificallyheels and insides of arms.

• How important are cruelty free and natural products to you on a scale of 1-5 (1 not at all - 5 very)?

Cruelty free 5. I would never buy anything known to be tested on animals, theres no need in this day and age. Natural Id say a high 4.

• Would you purchase this product again?

Yes I would, I have purchased high end tanners in the past and found that the Sunkissed mouse worked just as good if not better. A very good product at a good mid range price point.

• Is there anything you would change about this product?

My imediate answer is no, Im currently on my 2nd application, and was asked today if I have been on holiday! 😁

Great product went on lovely and was a streak free finish. The only thing is a had to apply a second application as wasnt as dark as i thought it would be. Other that that defently would recomend.

Nice, slightly ‘fake tan’ later but not too bad.

Absolutely, I have used some quite expensive self tanning products in my time and this one has been equally good if not better!
