This is the feedback thread for the Mumsnet users who tested out Sunkissed’s Self-Tan Mousse Dark variant and their new innovative Hydrating Jelly Tan.

I loved the packaging and the smell.it was easy to apply with the mitt. It needed rubbing in quite well to avoid the streaks.

It was so easy to apply and went on in really easy streak- free glides, & had a nice fresh smell.

• What did you think about the smell, when you applied the tan?

The smell was nice for a fake tan, not overbearing sickly sweet like some but also not really chemical smelling either.

About 3 days.

4- cruelty free is a massive plus point. I’m not massively fussed on how natural the products are but definitely the more natural the better but it wouldn’t be the biggest selling point for me.

No it was amazing I really loved it, & will be recommending to all my family & friends.

I loved that it was 'nasty' free. Big bonus!

What did you think about the smell, when you applied the tan?
I really like the smell, even after leaving it on all night, the smell in the morning is still pleasant and not 'biscuity'. My friends were giving me the sniff test last night and couldn't smell anything 'self tanny'.

How long did your tan last?
I haven't actually noticed the tan wearing off, I re-applied every 5 days, but enjoyed the guide colour more as was more noticeable on my skin. I checked the usual places for signs of wear but it was all good!

5 Will always use when available.

Would you purchase this product again?
Absolutely...if I can get an extra dark shade, this will be perfect for me.

Light texture that didn't go runny and drip.

• What did you think about the smell, when you applied the tan?

I wasn't sure I liked the smell at first - it reminded me of vanilla custard. I suppose it makes a change from the usual biscuit smell of other fake tans.

• How long did your tan last?

3 days, but I do have VERY dry flaky skin, like lizard-legs, so any fake tan struggles to last longer than that.

Very (5)

• Would you purchase this product again?

Yes, but it would depend on the price as I feel its effects were at least equal to my favourite, Bondi Sands, so it would have to match that price or be less.

• Is there anything you would change about this product?

Clearer instructions. The writing is so tiny on the bottle I couldn't read it, even with my best glasses, so I just winged it really.

I liked that it was a clear product, it was easy to apply and i was pleasantly surprised at the result. Nice tan, no streaks and natural looking.

The smell was pleasant, it did not stand out for me.

The colour, once developed, was lovely, really natural and as I have sun sensitive skin, this is the only way I can get any colour.

5, extremely important, in fact THE most important aspect. Needs to be cruelty free, I avoid all products if they aren't. Why buy cruel products when you can buy cruelty free?

I loved the overall results from the tan and I also loved how the colour was strong yet natural looking.

I actually really liked the smell when applying the tan however, it was quite strong therefore some people may have a problem with this.

• How long did your tan last?

The tan lasted for around a week.

This product was fairly difficult to apply as I found it soaked into the skin very quickly therefore, I would like it to soak in less quickly.

• What did you like most about your Sunkissed tan?

I've never used a self tanner which dried in as quickly as this one. I used the mitt and was done in a couple of minutes. It applies incredibly easily and sinks in so quickly that you can get dressed pretty much straight away. The colour was very impressive too. I was initially slightly disappointed that I'd been sent the light/medium shade, but once it developed I was thrilled with the colour.

• What did you think about the smell, when you applied the tan?

The smell was gorgeous, very summery and coconutty. The next morning there was a slight biscuity whiff but much less than most fake tan products.

• How long did your tan last?

It stayed lovely and even for at least four days. It probably needed reapplying after that.

Cruelty free is a 5 out of 5. Natural products would be a 3.

• Would you purchase this product again?

Definitely. I'll also be looking at other Sunkissed products. I really liked it.

The guide colour was lovely, I left the tan on for the maximum amount of time but once showered the tan was not as dark as I had hoped. So a darker colour would be better

• Is there anything you would change about this product? I would’ve liked it to be a bit darker with a bit of guide colour.

I thought the packaging it came in was excessive, a big box 4 times the size of the product and stuffed with paper curls, better than plastic of course and recyclable but pretty wasteful

Definitely. I loved it and so did my daughter. ( I didn’t know she used it but she fell in love with it)

I wouldn’t change nothing at all. It gave me the perfect tan and a real healthy glow. So many people asked if I had been on holiday. I guarantee this will be the only tanning product I use I loved it. It was delivered really quickly and packaged well. Thank you so much for letting me test it

The colour meant I could see where I was applying it and even when applied in a rush it was relatively streak free

Loved the smell, it didn't have the chemically smell that a lot of fake tans do

It dried very quickly, very effective; I developed a noticeable colour after just one application

• What did you think about the smell, when you applied the tan? There was quite a strong smell initially, although it was coconutty, not chemical like most other gradual tans I have tried. After a few hours the smell disappeared.

So I tested the Dark mousse here goes! 😊

• What did you like most about your Sunkissed tan? It was not tested on animals and when I applied it, it was streak free.

• What did you think about the smell, when you applied the tan? The original smell was really nice after a little while it did smell like fake tan usually does but just not as strong.

• How long did your tan last? I topped up every 3/4 days and still have it on so unsure how long it lasts without topping it up.

• How important are cruelty free and natural products to you on a scale of 1-5 (1 not at all - 5 very)? 5/5 for cruelty free products. 3/5 for natural products

• Would you purchase this product again? Absolutely. Maybe a different colour but I would absolutely buy again.

• Is there anything you would change about this product? Maybe a wider spectrum of colours so that it looks more natural than fake tan.

The initial smell; it reminded me of holidays. It was much easier to spread evenly with the mitt and I think this encourages you to take time to apply it. I did exfoliate extensively before applying it as my menopausal skin is very dry, especially at this time of year. The colour looked natural for a fake tan, although I don't go for the ultra dark Madge from Benidorm look.

• What did you think about the smell, when you applied the tan? Quite a coconutty smell on application, but as others have said, the familiar biscuity fake tan grew as the day progressed.
