This is the feedback thread for the Mumsnet users who tested out Sunkissed’s Self-Tan Mousse Dark variant and their new innovative Hydrating Jelly Tan.

I love the colour! It’s not orange at all, it has an olive undertone tone that is so lovely

It does smell like fake tan but that doesn’t bother me, it does bother some people so be aware

Once I'd mastered the quantity to apply (didn't apply enough the first time) I was left with a lovely natural colour with no streaks at all

-What did you think about the smell, when you applied the tan?
When I first used it it smelt nice, coconutty. But as it developed it had a very synthetic tell tale fake tan smell

-How long did your tan last?
Not sure, I've applied 3 layers with the last application about 5 days ago & theres still some colour there, it doesn't fade patchy either

Maybe just the fake tan smell. But it's not a huge deal for me & wouldn't put me off buying it again

I loved how easy it was to apply with mitt and you could see where you had applied it and what bits were missed.

The smell was lovely not the usual fake tan smell. This smelt of biscuits and was very pleasant.

• How long did your tan last?

My tan has lasted a good five days then the tell tell patches appear. I just topped it up and loved the look.

Definitely would purchase again. I’ve had lots of comments on my new glow. I’m over the moon with how good it looks.

Maybe a bigger bottle I can see me using this quite a lot.

It dried very quickly and wasn't sticky

It was nice, wasn't my favourite smell but better than most fake tans

A few days - I used one coat of tan with the mitt and I shower every day so didn't last as long as it would had I left it or reapplied it a few times. It did start to go a bit patchy though

Make it more moisturising as I felt if I didn't thoroughly moisturise daily then the tan went a bit snakeskin-Esque. However that could just be my skin?
I would also change the mitt - the edges were quite rough and caught me a few times!

Loved the smell. Didn't smell like other fake tans, smelled nice and sweet.

Not sure. I will give it another go with an extra coat to see if it lasts longer. If not then no I wouldn't.

The colour was too subtle, expected darker and it didn't last long enough.

Smelled lovely. Tiny tiny smell of fake tan after a few hours but only noticeable because I was keen to test the product properly and smelled very closely!

Yes I think so. It's a good price and I liked the colour.

I wouldn't describe the colour as dark, for me it was a light, natural tan. I was apprehensive that it would be very dark and so I left it on for 6 hrs (product said 6-8 hrs). I would have liked it to last the 5 days as promised without fading so much. I personally would liked more detailed instructions as I haven't applied many fake tans before, eg how much product to use. Do you rub it in or smooth over? Perhaps I didn't use enough.

I thought it looked very natural, there was no streaking or uneven patches.

I liked the smell, very holiday/summer like.

Smelled quite nice, was definitely not as biscuity as other tans I have used.

The only issue I found was the product got on my sheets but I find this an issue with all fake tans.

at first I was a bit worried about the colour, and that I’d actually look like a chocolate mousse! But actually, i loved that it was so easy to apply, dried quickly, didn’t smell at all and when I washed off 7 hours later, the colour was lovely, really natural and no streaks. I’m fairly olive skinned so I’m going to be even more liberal with it next time!

Lovely subtle smell, didn’t have that tell-tale fake tan smell at all

I tested Sunkissed self tan mousse dark variant and found it to have a fragrant smell overall which I liked and was very different from other usual biscuit smelling fake tans. It was very easy I apply and I liked the colour as it was brown and not orange and lasted about 4-5 days before starting to get patchy.

On a scale of 1-5 it is a 5 for me the importance of products being cruelty free.

I would have loved the tan to have lasted longer and left a darker colour when washed off.

- What did you like most about your Sunkissed tan?

I liked the fact that there was no lingering smell other self tan brands have, the natural colour and the longevity of the tan.

- What did you think about the smell, when you applied the tan?

It smelled lovely, an exotic 'holiday' scent and it wasn't masking a 'self tan' biscuity smell, even better.

- How long did your tan last?

About 5 days. Really impressive. I topped it up actually and it didn't go streaky or patchy.

Jelly Tan

• What did you like most about your Sunkissed tan?

Easy to apply, dries quickly and gave me a darker tan than I expected (I was pretty pale to start with), but natural looking.

• What did you think about the smell, when you applied the tan?

Coconutty! Great if you like coconut, not so if you don't! Although it doesn't small like fake tan at first, there was a distinct biscuitty aroma the next day after I'd showered. That didn't bother me though.

• How long did your tan last?

4-5 days and wore off evenly.

Yes, I'll swap my existing brand .

Probably the packaging. I wouldn't have thought it was a tanning product due to the blue colour. It looks like a nice, cooling after sun. You have to pick up and read the label to realise it's a tanning product.

More of 'an any other comments' - As I have dry skin, I think I probably applied more than others might, as it soaked in really quickly and gave me a deeper tan. When I applied the second time, I moisturised first, which gave a slightly lighter tan.

Really quick to apply, mitt was very soft and felt good quality and the initial smell of the tan was lovely

When first applied it smell amazing, really summery and coconutty, however that didn’t last long and then it was the usual biscuit cake tan smell

The mousse was really easy to apply with the mitt, and the guide colour prevented any streaks. The packaging looks good and is easy to use.

I really liked the scent of the mousse, it was really nice and although it changes after a day it wasn’t a horrible smell.

I was expecting the colour to be darker, but yes I would buy again as it is so easy to use, and gives you a warm glow

I think the colour could be darker, or market this mousse as a medium colour, I certainly wouldn’t call it dark as it is, it does build if you reapply.

• What did you like most about your Sunkissed tan?

Really easy to apply. I loved the mitt that came with the product. Left me with a nice gentle tan.

Very strong coconut smell! I quite liked it at first but wasn’t sure of the smell the next day.

Around 3 or 4 days although I do still have a bit of the colour now.

If it was reasonably priced then I definitely would.

On my first attempt I found it difficult to tell where I had already applied as it dries so quickly so I ended up a little patchy. The second attempt I made sure I exfoliated first and took my time and that seemed to do the trick.

- What did you like most about your Sunkissed tan?

The tan applied really well with the mitt and didn't feel at all sticky. It dried quickly with minimal transfer on to bed sheets over night. The smell was pleasant and not at all 'biscuity' like some fake tans can be.
It also developed into a lovely deep brown colour - a lot of tans I have tried either have an orange or green tint to them, this tan was more like my natural colour after a couple of weeks in the sun

The smell was pleasant and reminded me of holiday

The tan lasted 5 days before it started to fade, after 7 days I exfoliated and reapplied and the tan looked good again
