This is the feedback thread for the 250 Mumsnetters who have been testing Fairy Non Bio Laundry Liquid and Fabric Softener.

Here’s what Fairy Non Bio has to say: “We want to reach out to all of the mums and dads out there who are faced with a daily everest of dirty laundry and are the best judge of what works… and what doesn’t. We want to put our products to the test and see if they’re still the best for a family’s needs.”

Testers, please give your feedback by answering the following questions, plus giving any other feedback you’d like to share:

  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?
  2. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?
  3. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?

All testers who give their feedback on this thread and complete a short survey about their experience will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks, and good luck!

  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?

The smell is delightful and I found clothes still smelt fresh when they’d been in the wardrobe for a while. Everything came out of the wash clean.
Loved the measuring cap really handy with the measurements in the side to show how much depending on size of load - fab!

  1. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?

I would purchase them in the future they worked well and they didn’t cause any issues with the families skin!

  1. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?

Yes I definitely would.

Thanks Mumsnet and Fairy for letting me try it.

  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better? I love the smell of the product and the fact it is non-bio. My only negative is it doesn't get stains out well which as a mum is needed! However, I've used stain remover alongside and happy with result.
  2. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future? Likely
  3. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends? Yes

  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?

Love the fragrance and used them to wash all my baby's clothes before they arrived (PFB Blush )

I have very sensitive skin but this caused no problems for me or DD.

  1. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?

Will definitely purchase again- especially if they're on offer!

  1. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?

Yes - particularly if they've had problems with skin reactions from other products

  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?

I liked the dosing cap that came with it. Made my washing smell lovely and clean and when drying washing indoors made the whole house smell lovely and fresh.

  1. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?

I would be very likely to buy Fairy Non Bio in the future, especially for washing baby clothes.

  1. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?

Yes would definitely recommend.

  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?

It was very good at cleaning, even at 30. I liked the dosage cap. We prefer a non-scented detergent, although the fragrance of these products was gentle and only slightly triggered DP’s allergies.

  1. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?

I would buy them in the summer when I can do all of our drying outside, but the perfume of the non-bio liquid gives DP a slight headache when we have our washing drying on radiators indoors, so it wouldn’t be my first choice.

  1. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?

Yes if it came up in conversation based on cleaning and ease of use, but possibly not to people who avoid scented detergent.

  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?
I liked the dosing ball and the smell. It also did aggravate my husbands eczema. Unfortunately, I'm not confident about stain removal without using vanish first.
  1. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future? If my usual brand wasn't available.
  1. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?
Yes, if they suffer from eczema.

I also haven't received a link to the survey.

Thanks mumsnet and fairy for letting me test these products. 🙂

  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?
I liked that they were both very gentle meaning that they're perfect for sensitive skin like mine. I have eczema on my legs and can't get on with anything too strong. Although I would have liked a slightly stronger scent
  1. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?
I would buy them in the future if for a newborn or just for me. I don't think it's got the cleaning power for my 5 year old boys clothes
  1. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?
Yes I most certainly would. I'm from a big family and there's baby's being born quite often if I'm honest Grin I would recommend these products for baby's and for sensitive skin

  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?

I'd never used fairy laundry products before, usually using own brand or whatever was on offer. When my baby developed eczema I switched to Ecover/surcare which did improve his skin. Using the fairy definitely didn't worsen his skin if anything it was slightly better than when I was using the other detergents. The advantage of the fairy was the clothes were softer and smelled fresher. I would say the stain removal was as good or better as other non bios, but not as good as bio powders. Overall I really liked the fairy, and no complaints from my partner who also has sensitive skin

  1. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?

I would definitely purchase them again if they were on offer and possibly at full price while my son still has eczema.

  1. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?

Yes if they had sensitive skin

SuperstarDJ · 06/01/2019 13:41

i didn’t receive the Fairy Fabric Softener so this review is for the detergent only

  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?
Detergent didn’t seem to leave clothes smelling nice or looking nice and clean. Maybe this was because I used it without fabric conditioner. I prefer a 2 in 1 product.
  1. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?
Unlikely.
  1. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio
No.
HotInWinter · 08/01/2019 09:03

None tester: why are the fairy liquid tabs in such big tubs? For various reasons, I fly fairy liquidtabs round the world (yes, I know), and can repack nearly 3 boxes into 2 containers. Why don't you just put more liquidtabs in a box, or make the boxes smaller?

  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?
The smell was pretty great. I felt it did a better job than my regular product if I used it on a long cycle. On a shorter cycle it didn't make much difference. I didn't like the fact that I was unable to do a pre wash due to the style of product. Powder wins in that respect.
  1. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?
Not very likely, It was superior but not superior enough to justify the price increase.
  1. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?
Yes but not emphatically This product was really put to the test in my house - Norovirus kicked in two days after it arrived and my one year old left no fabrics untouched by vomit! I found that it was really good on wet stains but if the fabric was unlucky enough to be left for the next wash and it dried on then this product was really rubbish at getting it off! I had to wash things twice. Pretty disappointed by that.
cannotmakemymindup · 12/01/2019 01:13

I am unable to leave any feedback as although I had an email to say that I'd been chosen, I didn't receive any products to test.
Meant to hear in the new year what Fairy were going to do.

fadehead · 12/01/2019 20:45
  1. I didn’t particularly like either. I was disappointed that the fabric softener didn’t leave the clothes softer or smelling really nice and fresh. The liquid didn’t do a particularly good job of removing stains, as I had to rewash several items from loads where stains had remained (type of stains that other liquids I’ve tried have removed fist time).
  2. I’d be unlikely to purchase them again.
  3. I’d be unlikely to recommend these products to family and friends.

  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?

I liked that they were gentle products which did not cause any reactions on my childs skins. I also liked the subtle scents of both products but particularly the fabric conditioner.

  1. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?

I am not likely to purchase the detergent because I found that it does not do anything for baby stains and I have had to use other products to wash any baby clothes which have stains on them. I would purchase the fabric conditioner though.

  1. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?

I would recommend the fabric conditioner, but I would not recommend the detergent.

Glitteryglitter · 18/01/2019 10:09

. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?
The non bio was good, I liked the dosing cap. There was no mess like with the liquid non bios I've tried previously.
The fabric conditioner didn't smell very nice it was a bit antiseptic smelling and didn't last very long.

  1. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?
I'd buy the non bio again, I wouldn't use the fabric conditioner again.
  1. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?
I'd recommend the non bio but i wouldn't recommend the fabric conditioner.

  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?
Thanks for the chance to test! The dosing cap was good as mentioned. The laundry liquid was good but importantly my toddler’s eczema has improved somewhat- making me think our usual product might be part of the problem, Not hugely swayed about the softener but from an allergy perspective it was also a positive.
  1. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?
I would buy them both again for reasons above.
  1. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?
On the basis that they didn’t exacerbate my daughter’s eczema, I would recommend as alternatives.
DickVanTyke · 22/01/2019 10:14
  1. I like the fragrance of the washing liquid, but I'm not as fussed on the softener. I have to admit that I don't really use softener usually as I don't think it's adds a lot to clothes and is just more money and more plastic waste! As pp's I really liked the dosing cup, it's pretty mess free & the measurement marks are really clear (I'm looking at you supermarket own brand stuff!)
  1. Depending on price I would buy the detergent but not the softener.
  2. As above!
missfab · 23/01/2019 01:24

I liked the scent of both the detergent and the fabric softener. It’s not too strong and is light. I would buy both of them again in the future. I would recommend them both to friends and family.

lilstar · 24/01/2019 00:35

1.What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?

I do like the scent of the fairy non bio products, the fact that they are non bio and that they were kind to the skin of my family (one of us having sensitive skin with eczema). I felt like I had to use more than the recommended amount though for the laundry to have that extra special clean smell, so although I liked the scent, it wasn't strong enough for my liking.

  1. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?

I am likely to recommend them to people who are concerned over skin issues because my family had no problems with it. For other people I believe there are probably much more of a variety of choices especially when it comes to fragrances.

  1. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?

50:50 depending on who I am chatting with (see answer above for more detail).

anitagreen · 05/02/2019 19:13

When does this end and winners announced?

Cheesycheesytwist · 07/02/2019 13:55

Apologies for the slow response, I did the survey weeks ago but my laptop crashed when I did this thread and it looks like it didn't post!

1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?
I like the subtle fragrance as I'm not keen on washing having a strong smell. They didn't aggravate my DCs eczema prone skin. The bottle was easy to use (though I wish there was a better design for bottles that didn't involve getting a new plastic dispenser everytime). Pur clothes came out clean and fresh.

2. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?
I would definitely consider buying the washing detergent for DCs washing. Whilst I liked the softener I would probably not buy it as often, I don't use softener in the winter as I use a tumble dryer so don't find it necessary.

3. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?
Yes, if it came up in conversation, for those with young DCs.

Thank you for the trial.
