This is the feedback thread for the 250 Mumsnetters who have been testing Fairy Non Bio Laundry Liquid and Fabric Softener.

Love the smell and practical packaging. Not sure it cleans as well as some others but understand it's gentle so can live with that.

The cleaning power was great on tomato sauce and mud and the clothes came out lovely and soft. I don't use a tumble dryer and noticed my clothes were a lot softer once dried than with my other washing detergent. I also like the neutral scent of the fabric softener.

What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better? There wasn't really anything I particularly liked. They were thin, the smell wasn't brilliant I didn't like it much and the lid of the detergent wasn't very useful to use in the machine.

I liked the dosing cap, easy to use and store. Good gentle scent and soft on baby's skin. Detergent dose not removes stain that well.

I thought it smelt really nice. Had a 'clean floral smell'. I found the fabric conditioner made some bedding and clothing more rough though than soft.

I liked the mild smell and the softness of clothes following being washed. I did like the dosing cap and thought it was a great idea. But because the liquid was runnier than the usual gel i found it easier to spill when adding the cap to the washing machine. A smaller opening would have been great!

I liked the fragrance and the consistency was good, not too thick or too dribbly. It was absolutely fine on my baby's and husband's sensitive skin and washed really well. But I'd prefer the washing liquid to have a measuring cap like the fabric softener as it lead to me guess pouring from the bottle as using the separate measuring cup was too messy

Very likely if they were on offer but I'd stick with Tesco loves baby if they were full price

Yes definitely

The products smelt lovely and left my clothes smelling fresh. Stain removal I'd say was average as it didn't get rid of several greasy food stains on my daughters clothes. Measuring out the detergent was easy but I think the dosing cap could be made from a more robust material as after being bashed around in several wash cycles it is now a bit distorted.

Yes I would definitely use again (and have done in the past).

Yes for those needing a product for sensitive skin or a new baby but not for those with toddlers as I think you need a biological product to get rid of the tougher stains that toddlers seem to produce!

1. I liked the dosing cap for each. I liked the fill line on the side of the bottle as it helped me know how quickly it was disappearing. They both seemed to work well but I must admit I normally buy tabs and it was slightly annoying to try and find the dosing cap in the washing each time! The scent was nice.

I would if they were on offer but would need to be cheaper than tabs.

Yes I suppose.

I liked the smell of the detergent and conditioner. My clothes were soft and the smell retained in the clothes after drying.

I liked the gel - I was surprised at how well it cleaned. I normally use powder and pre wash settings. So that was quite a change, however I did feel that I used a lot more detergent using gel, and there's no way I would get 38 washes out of the bottle.

Dependent on price I think, as although very effective and smelled lovely, I went through it quite quickly so not very cost effective unless on offer.

I liked the gel and was surprised at how well it cleaned. I like the window checker on the side of the bottle to see how much is left.
It would be nice if the bottles fitted into each other as that would save me alot of space in my cupboards.

I liked the smell and the fact that the bottles were quite compact. The clothes came out feeling very fresh.

Yes definitely recommending it.

I really liked the products. I usually use fairy gel and don’t use any fabric softener as my kids have sensitive skin. It made a nice change to use fabric softener, everything felt soft and smelt lovely. No adverse reactions.

I would buy the liquid as I am already a fairy user. Although I liked it i’ll Continue to wash without softener once it’s run out.

I’d recommend the detergent to friends or family with sensitive skin.

Fairy to me is a big trusted brand. I like feeling confident that when I washed my newborn's clothes, she'll not react to any of the ingredients. I like that they're not too strongly fragranced. My clothes I like to smell more of detergent and softener, but just 'clean' is what I want for my baby. The only thing I'd change to make the product better, is making the detergent better at removing stains. Which defeats the object of it being a delicate product marketed in my opinion, to new mums with new babies. I found if I was lucky enough to be at home when a nappy leaked, and chuck the clothes straight in the wash, the stains came out. If they were left for even a short amount of time before washing, they were beyond saving with just Fairy alone.

I'll continue to use them while my baby is little, so long as they're on offer. The full price cost of laundry products is outrageous and I'd never pay it.

I'd recommend them only as a basic detergent and softener for cleaning 'cleanish' clothes. Anything that's soiled or dirty, they're sadly not really good for.

I liked how the clothes came out, they were clean with no marks. I also liked the packaging of the cleaver including the window to see how much was left

I probably would only purchase them if on offer - I found the smell slightly strong

I like that they smell nice but the scent is not too strong or overpowering. They left my clothes feeling soft.

2. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends? Yes, the detergent in particularly. The consistency of the fabric softener is a bit thinner than I like.

I’ve been using a powder detergent so I much preferred using a liquid. It was easy to pour out into the cap...no spills. I was impressed with the colour of our washed clothes. Whites seemed whiter and coloureds seemed brighter too. I luckily didn’t have any serious stains to try it on so didn’t put it through any tough tests. I don’t know if it would have risen to the challenge! I wasn’t as keen on the softener. I found the smell too powerful. I much prefer my current one. At the same time, when I forgot to add it to one wash I could really tell the difference without it.

I would buy the detergent again if it was a good price. The softener I’m not so sure on - perhaps if priced competitively.

I liked the scent. The usual detergent we use doesn't smell as nice. Stain removal wasn't any better than the cheaper detergent we use.
Liked the easy dosing. Would be better if refills were low plastic. I buy powder detergent in a cardboard box packaging. This seemed so much plastic.

1 - I liked tat they are great for sensitive skin especially babies. But strong enough to clean for the whole family. Really liked how subtle the smell is. I wouldn't change anything except maybe the price.

1. I would definitely buy again especially if on a special offer.

3 - I would recommend to anyone having a new baby.

1. My children and I have super sensitive skin and we've been absolutely fine with both the detergent and the softener. I really liked the clear markings in the cap of the detergent bottle for measuring. I have a 9kg machine and it's a bit vague with some of the other detergents. Unfortunately the fabric conditioner wasn't so easy to measure. I didn't particularly like the smell, too chemically, something more linen fresh would be good.

1. At the right price I would definitely purchase them again.
2. Yes I would, mostly because they've been kind to my family's skin.

To be honest I usually just buy what is on offer. However, if this was on offer I would buy it.

1. Really liked the dosing cap, helped so much with judging how much to put in. Both liquid & conditioner were fairly mess-free which was good too. I preferred the liquid to my usual powder. I think fairy products in the bottle smell overpowering and a bit chemical, but is diluted in the wash so clothes came out smelling fresh but not too strong, which was good. It seemed to do a pretty good job with day-to-day stains, but really tough stuff would need something more.
2. If the laundry liquid was on offer I’d definitely consider it. I agree with a previous poster re the amount of plastic/packaging - too much. I probably wouldn’t re-buy the conditioner, but I don’t have any particular loyalty so buy lots of different ones anyway.
3. Would probably recommend the liquid - wouldn’t recommend the conditioner but not because I prefer a particular other one. I have nothing bad to say about it, it just didn’t stand out.

1, I thought the stain temoval quality was pretty good, the scent is nice and the bottles are a good size. The dosing cap works well. I like Fairy as a brand.
2, I liked them but dont feel they are different enough from my regular products to switch, i often use fairy washing powder which i like more.
3, If a fan of liquids with a new baby then yes I would.

I liked them both. I liked the dosing cup for the washing liquid, it was easy to fill without spilling and easy to see how much you were using. The fragrance of both was nice, fairly inoffensive and clean smelling. I was surprised how clean everything came out as generally I find non bios less effective.

It would totally depend on price. I have no brand loyalty and tend to go for what's on the best offer.
