This is the feedback thread for the 250 Mumsnetters who have been testing Fairy Non Bio Laundry Liquid and Fabric Softener.

Here’s what Fairy Non Bio has to say: “We want to reach out to all of the mums and dads out there who are faced with a daily everest of dirty laundry and are the best judge of what works… and what doesn’t. We want to put our products to the test and see if they’re still the best for a family’s needs.”

Testers, please give your feedback by answering the following questions, plus giving any other feedback you’d like to share:

  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?
  2. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?
  3. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?

All testers who give their feedback on this thread and complete a short survey about their experience will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks, and good luck!

  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?

I liked that the liquid went into the drum rather than the drawer as it stopped it becoming gunky.
They were good on our sensitive skin too.
I liked the smell but didn’t feel that it lasted on the washed clothes.

  1. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?
If they were on offer and a similar price to my existing own brand purchases I would probably buy them. Especially the detergant. I was less keen on the fabric conditioner so probably wouldn’t bother with that.
  1. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?

Hmmmm. I wouldn’t not recommend it but I also wouldn’t rave about it. I would probably suggest it if someone was struggling to find washing stuff for sensitive skin.

  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?
I liked the ease of use and the dosing cap was a good design. My one year old suffers from eczema, which has actually been much better since using the Fairy detergent. Much prefer the liquid to using powder. I liked that there was no strong smell after washing, just clean and fresh. Stain removal power could be better.
  1. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?
Very likely after seeing how my son's eczema has been. Even better if it's on offer.
  1. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?
Yes I would

  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?

I liked the scent and the clothes came out smelling fresh. DS didn’t like it and complained that ‘it made my clothes stink and all my friends agreed’! Everything came out clean but not necessarily any cleaner than my usual supermarket own brand to be honest. It didn’t irritate DD’s skin which was a bonus.

  1. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?

Unlikely unless they were on offer at the same price as my usual supermarket own brand. I didn’t think the Fairy was enough of an improvement on that to warrant the extra expense.

  1. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family and friends?

Probably not.

TellMeItsNotTrue · 28/12/2018 17:35

1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?
I thought that they were great, the fabric softener is better than the current one I use as it leaves clothes softer and smelling fresher. The detergent was as good as current brand and I liked the scent

2. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?
I would purchase them in the future, the fabric softener will definitely replace current brand

3. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?
Yes, I already have done. I was really impressed so wanted to let other people know how good they were

BollockyBagels · 28/12/2018 21:44
  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested?
I really liked the smell that the fabric conditioner left behind. And considering it is non bio, it didn't aggravate my daughter's sensitive eczema skin either. I liked the measuring cup too. Is there anything you think would make them better? The conditioner is great but not convinced that the detergent has enough oomph to irradicate tough stains eg bolognese sauce.
  1. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future? I would only buy them if they were on spesh AND I had a voucher.
  2. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends? I'd recommend the conditioner to anyone who had issues with sensitive skin, but not as a value for money product.
BollockyBagels · 28/12/2018 21:54

Nb As other posters have said, I've not received a survey to complete, just this feedback thread.....

  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?
The dosing cap was nice and easy. Nice gentle fragrance that reminded me of my kids being newborns! Don’t think it was the best at removing stains though
  1. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?
Quite likely if they were on offer
  1. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?
Yes for sensitive skin

  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?

I thought they were really good. Liquid seems to be a lot easier than powder although I am trying to live a reduced plastic life so the bottles give me some concerns

  1. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?

Hmmmm, due to my issues with plastic;
Probably unlikely. However I do favour fairy powder with my young children

  1. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?

Yes

TellMeItsNotTrue · 29/12/2018 12:29

I got an email which gave both the link to survey and link to this thread

My feedback here:

I really like these products. In terms of the logistics of the product test, the delivery was straight forward and I received a large bottle each of laundry liquid and fabric softener. On the questions

  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better? - I think the cleaning power is great, good on tough marks and a lovely fresh but not cloying or overpowering scent. Makes the house small nice when it's drying! I feel the cleaning power is better than the supermarket liquid I was using when it arrived. The fabric softener works well, does the job well and has a good effect on my towels which are all dried indoors so tend to get crispy.

I REALLY like the liquid doser. Easy to put the liquid into and to find in the washing machine. My feedback on this is I would prefer it to be more strongly branded as I appears that yesterday my cleaner threw it out (maybe thinking it was a bottle top) so I think it could be made clearer that it's for laundry. I hadn't yet had the chance to try it as a stain scrubber.

  1. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?

The short answer is yes I'd be likely to purchase them. The longer answer is that it would all depend on price point. There's no doubt in my mind that it seems to give a better clean than my cheapy supermarket option, but it is also quite a bit more expensive. Looking online I'd expect it to be on a special fairly regularly and in that event I'd purchase it. If there were a Bargain extra big bottle which was a good price per litre that would tempt me too. The bottle supplied for the test (1.33 litres I think) I'm going to guess will last just over a month including the extra festive laundry). The fabric softener I think will be 1.5. - 2 months as I use less.

  1. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?

YES! It cleans really well! Also it's a lovely fresh smell to wash your new baby's clothes in

For me Fairy seems to be one of the few brands where I do feel you get a superior product than the supermarket option, and the laundry liquid is no exception.

WhoTookTheChristmasCookie · 29/12/2018 17:32

I've also not received a survey link?

MrsBobcat · 29/12/2018 19:17

products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?

Loved the detergent, my dd has very sensitive skin but we had no reactions. The fabric conditioner did soften clothes but not as well as others I’ve used. Smell was ok but did not last as long as other brands.

  1. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?

Will be buying the detergent on a regular basis, not sure about softener depends on the price.

  1. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?

Yes would certainly recommend the detergent.

  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?

I like the fragrance, and am happy with the cleaning. Most of all I like that they don’t cause reactions in any of us. Bio products cause me to react so I haven’t used them for years and my daughter suffers from eczema. I’m also happy enough with the cleaning power, although my sons tougher stains didn’t always come out. I’ve had to use vanish on top.

  1. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?
Will definitely use the washing liquid, but thought the softener was less good than comfort pure.
  1. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?
Yes, particularly for those with sensitive skin.

  2. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future? - I will definitely continue purchasing, don’t think I’ll use anything else.
  3. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends? Yes! I already have! X

  2. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future? I would buy them if on offer, but they are usually more expensive than my usual brands.

  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?

I really liked the fragrance and the dosing cap. For a non-bio, it really does clean very well.
Make it eco friendly!

  1. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?

Probably not, I prefer to use eco friendly cleaning and laundry products.

  1. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?

If they weren't bothered about using eco products, then yes.

MummyBtothree · 02/01/2019 15:42

Just to clarify, I am unable to leave any feedback as although I had an email to say that I'd been chosen, I didn't receive any products to test.

  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?

So far I've been impressed with how the liquid has removed stains. The conditioner has made clothes soft and we all like the smell. The dosing cap makes it easy to change the amount of liquid used depending on the wash.

  1. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?
I would use again.
  1. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?
Yes, been impressed so would recommend.

  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?
I liked the smell and the softness of the clothes after the wash. I definitely noticed a difference compare to my usual stuff. I just always wonder why the softener and the detergent don’t come in bottle for the same number of loads. Why always 34 and 36 loads for example?!
  1. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?
I think I probably would but these in the future, unless there was a super offer on something else!
  1. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?
I would.
ellenpartridge · 03/01/2019 12:12
  1. I liked the dosing cap, the smell and that the products were gentle. I found them effective enough to get my clothes and my daughter's clothes clean.
  1. I would be likely to buy it again, yes. Definitely the washing liquid, the softener not as much as I felt the clothes came out soft enough without it.
  1. I would be happy to recommend these.

Dosing cap and subtle scent No changes
  1. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?
Very likely

Yes

  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?
I already used fairy powder, so was expecting the same results with the liquid. I found of tougher stains it needs a stain remover like vanish in the wash.

Love the softener. My eczema has been so much better since using it rather than lenor.

  1. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?
Very likely - in fact I’ve already bought the softener
  1. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?
Yes I would

  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?
They perform really well in they wash. I normally use bio products, but was really impressed with this non bio. I loved the smell also of both products.
  1. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?
I've made a decision to only purchase eco friendly / cruelty free stuff or make my own from now on, so no.
  1. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?
In line with my answers above, I would tell the truth that it performs really well but not for me long term.

  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?
I really liked the smell, hadnt expecting the washing to smell so nice so i was plesently surprised. It cleaned really well and ive never used liquid before so was also impressed with that as no climping of powder in the drawer. Also didnt cause any irritation to any of our skins.
  1. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?
Very likely infact i have alrrady been out and bought more instead of my usual brand and was pleasantly surprised to find it on offer in morrisons.
  1. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?
Yes definitely and especially to anyone with a nee baby or sensitive skin. Really happy with both products.
Incontinentiabucket · 03/01/2019 14:37
  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?

I usually use the capsules because I thought I'd use too much liquid than is necessary but the dosing ball is helpful. Also, as you use the product I'd assumed the bottle would end up covered in liquid and residue but I was pleasantly surprised to find it didn't! I might be tempted to buy liquid Fairy from now on!

I agree with other posters that the washing liquid isn't great on stains so had to use it with vanish for the children's clothes.

Also, the scent isn't too overpowering and the laundry can smell lovely and fresh when removed from the machine but the scent quickly disappears which is disappointing.

The softener is great in that it doesn't clog your machine like some of the thicker varieties available.

Most importantly we are grateful to find a product that our daughter with excema doesn't react to! If her clothes are washed accidentally with other products then she can be clawing at her skin and requiring lots of topical and oral medication to calm everything down again.

  1. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?

For our daughters benefit we will definitely be buying both products in the future but generally wait to purchase it whilst the products are on special offer.

  1. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?

Having lots of family affected by excema and skin conditions I would happily recommend these products.
