This is the feedback thread for the 250 Mumsnetters who have been testing Fairy Non Bio Laundry Liquid and Fabric Softener.

Here’s what Fairy Non Bio has to say: “We want to reach out to all of the mums and dads out there who are faced with a daily everest of dirty laundry and are the best judge of what works… and what doesn’t. We want to put our products to the test and see if they’re still the best for a family’s needs.”

Testers, please give your feedback by answering the following questions, plus giving any other feedback you’d like to share:

  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?
  2. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?
  3. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?

All testers who give their feedback on this thread and complete a short survey about their experience will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks, and good luck!

  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?
I liked the dosing cap which cut down on waste and added convenience. I thought it removed stains well and had a gentle scent without being overpowering. It has been great for my children's sensitive skin. The fabric conditioner didn't make any difference to the softness of my clothes.
  1. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?
I woild be likely to buy the laundry liquid but probably not the conditioner
  1. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?
Yes especially for sensitive skin.

  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?
I really liked both products. They smelled lovely and my clothes came out looking nice and clean. My DD has very sesnsitive skin and she hasn’t flared up at all. I’m completely satisfied.
  1. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?
Very likely actually. I have already bought another fairy non bio fabric softener.
  1. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?
Yes I would. I’ve been really happy with both products and think that the lovely fresh smell stays far longer than the other brand I sometimes use.

  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?
I liked the closing cap like others have said and no mess.
  1. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future? Yes I found them to remove stains to my expectation and the fragrance was nice!
  2. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends? Yes I think the products are good depending on the price. I’m not sure how much extra I’d be willing to pay though compared with supermarket brand

  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better? The laundry liquid doesn't leave my clothes as soft as the conditioner so I wouldn't use the liquid over the conditioner. Both smell nice and easy to use. I would like them to be a little tougher on stains especially with white school polos.
  2. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?I would purchase the fabric softener and do. I would only buy the liquid if the softener wasn't available.
  3. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?Yes. Nice smell not overpowering and good on my child's skin
Bloatstoat · 18/12/2018 19:55
  1. Like other posters I really liked the smell of the product, nice and fresh without being too artificial or too strong. I liked he dosage cap too, I usually use powder and thought a liquid might be messy, but this was great and really easy to use. They felt nice on skin for washing my son's things and bedding and my clothes too. I use cloth nappies and found stain removal was good even with poos!
  2. I would buy both the products, particularly the washing liquid, I was really surprised at how good and easy it was to use.
  3. I would happily recommend to family and friends!

  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?

Good cleaning power, great smell.

  1. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?

I would buy them in the future, I tend to go for whatever is on offer though!

  1. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?

I would yes.

  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?

They did their job very well, they left a fresh scent but not too overpowering, which is an issue they have with some other brands as I'm sensitive to detergent scents, however this wasn't a problem with this brand. The cap was also brilliant for avoiding a mess.

  1. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?

I have bought another bottle of the laundry liquid already, I don't use fabric softener for every wash but I do use it every now and then and I would definitely buy it from this brand again.

  1. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?

Yes I would, most of my family members have a bit of a stockpile but when they run out I will definitely recommend that they try these products as they're definitely value for money.

Macarena1990 · 18/12/2018 21:58

I thought the products were great. They smell gorgeous and all stains were removed. Good on whites too which I wasn't expecting from a non bio. I did think the dosing cap was very flimsy.. mine arrived broken so I had to use another I already had.

I would definitely buy them both in the future and would recommend the products to others.

  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?

I like the detergent but not converted from using my usual liquitabs as I didn't really know the dose measurements. Feel much comfortable using a tab for every wash (whether that's right or not!)

The softener smelt nice, similar to Comfort sensitive although your bottle seems much smaller. Not sure if it's cheaper though?

  1. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?

It's highly likely as I have a baby

  1. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?

Yes

  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?
I liked the smell and the dispensing cup. Having the measure next to the kg of washing was very helpful.

The only down side of the dispensing cup is unless I go and wash it up I can't put it back on the bottle without making a mess which puts me off. I guess I could put it in with every wash but I think I would end up with it falling out somewhere and going missing.

  1. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?
I like the washing liquid but from the 3 loads I've done it seems good but not stand out better from the other own brands I usually use.

If I had a small baby I would be more tempted to buy this.

I really like the smell of the fabric softener. I would buy this if it were on sale in my price bracket. I usually buy branded softener as I think the smells are good but not over powering so this would go on my list

  1. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?
Depending on the conversation yes.
noenergy · 19/12/2018 04:35
  1. It was good at removing stains from my kids clothes, certainly better than the current product I use and it smells nice. It also seemed to be great for sensitive skin.

I don’t like the dosing cap, it should be the actual lid, not going on top of the lid as it makes it messy. I prefer tablets.

  1. I would buy it again if it were at the right price or on offer.
  1. I would recommend it to others with babies.
vincenta · 19/12/2018 14:41

1.Fairy Non bio products where great. Liked laundry detergent bottle it was easy to use and dosing cup with nice and useful addition. I loved lovely fragrance which wasn't too strong but at the same time still present that you still can smell lovely freshness. Fragrance is very nice. If you love a lot of artificialfragrance which you can even smell in other room, at that case better choose different product. I don't like that most laundry detergents fragrance is so strong that it last for ages. Non-Bio laundry detergent is better for sensitive skin and washes well, even stains. For fresh stains I just apply tiny bit of laundry detergent on stain and give it a rub and for older and dried staines I do the same and leave it for a while. I love to dry clothes outside too, as natural sunligh( at summer it works much better as there are more sunny days)remove stains too. All in all I am very satisfied with product and would buy again.
If I could change anything I would love white or clear colour laundry detergent.

  1. To my mind this is perfect product for our family, after my youngest son was born I was forced to use products with less fragrance as he was sneezing non stop, most laundry detergent brands add so strong fragrance to products and I feel that every year fragrance is getting stronger and stronger, when you cab feel 'freshness' which is coming from neighbour garden or from clothes which people wear, so strong, enpowering and artificial. Fairy non bio get scent which is nice and just the right strength for my liking, when you can feel little bit of scent when you are taking clothes of the washing line and ironing.
  2. I reccomended Fairy non bio to my friends and family already and would reccomend for others to try to. Laundry detergent is kinder to skin, washes well and clothes smell nice and fresh, with lovely gentle aroma. It is good product well worth the money when you know your expectations and you are getting what you are after.
Crochetcrochetcrochet · 19/12/2018 15:27
  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested?

The dosing cap, the clean fragrance, and on normally grubby clothes, cleaning ability. No one has reacted to them with their eczema (DS1) or psoriasis (me) and it's been fine with newborn DD2's clothes.

Is there anything you think would make them better?
Stain removal - but that'd probably lose the gentleness and defeat the purpose. But it doesn't shift baby pooh stains at all.

  1. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?
If on special, definitely
  1. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?
Yes, and I have in my pregnancy group.

  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?

Fragrance is very nice, and I like that it's suitable for sensitive skin. The softener is a bit watery though, I'd like it to be thicker.

  1. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?

Quite likeky - Probably if on offer.

  1. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?

Yes

  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?

The smell of both products were lovely, lightly scented and not too overpowering on the items washed.
The measuring cup was handy and sat on top of the bottle nicely.
I was slightly disappointed on the ability to remove stains, but perhaps I needed to put in more liquid.

  1. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?
I would be very likely to purchase this product in the future, providing it was affordable.
  1. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?

I would absolutely recommend these products to family and friends, I have already discussed the product with others.

PenelopeParallelogram · 19/12/2018 19:59
  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?

As with a lot of other posters, we really liked the dosing cup, although it would probably annoy me that next time we bought a bottle I would get another one...and another one...
Also enjoyed the non-overpowering fragrance

  1. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?

We have just started using cloth nappies, which are not recommended to be washed in liquid, so we probably wouldn't buy regularly. Might buy when on offer and use for selected washes.

  1. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?
If they asked what we used on a particular item, but probably not unsolicited.

  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?

The detergent seemed to clean well at both 30 degrees and 40 degrees, in hand washes and quick wash settings, on colours and whites (I tried it for everything!). I liked that the dosage instructions were easy, I liked the dosage cap that goes into the drum - it's less messy than pouring it into the drawer like I do with the brand I currently use and means the drawer doesn't go mouldy so easily. I used the upper limit for dosage as we live in a hard water area and it worked well. The fabric softener left towels smelling fresh but not too strongly scented after being in the tumble dryer. It was good to be able to just use one detergent for both colours and whites.

What I think would be better is a different scent for both products - I found the fabric softener too strong and synthetic, I prefer the smell of the brands I currently use (Aldi and Lidl own brands).

The thing that was really disappointing was that my favourite cardigan became discoloured after using the detergent in a quick refresh wash - I'm not sure how it happened but somehow a dark blue cardigan has come out of the wash with a pinky red splotch on it! (Pic attached). I'm not sure how to rectify it, I'm gutted!

  1. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?

Pretty unlikely, because I didn't see any real benefits as compared to the products I usually use. Also, my cardigan was wrecked while using the Fairy Bio products so I'm wondering whether they contain bleach? I'm not sure whether the detergent was to blame but for this reason I wouldn't risk purchasing them in the future.

  1. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?

No, I wouldn't, because I'm not convinced of the benefits of the products myself. I also wouldn't want to risk any family or friends ruining their clothes!

Thanks for choosing me!

  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?
I really liked the scent. It smells really clean. The clothes came out really soft, especially fleece which felt like silk! I didn't like having to put the dosing cap in the machine as it was annoying to have to find it in the jumble of wet clothes before I could put another wash load on. I'd rather pour it into the drawer.
  1. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?
I'll definitely buy them.
  1. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?
I'd recommend it if we were discussing laundry.
GlitteryFluff · 19/12/2018 20:53

Common that definitely looks like bleach but surely these don't contain bleach as non-bio, gentle on skin, made for babies etc?

Could it have been from wearing it whilst cleaning/bleach from toilet etc and you didn't notice until you washed it?

libertysilk · 19/12/2018 21:55

What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?
I liked the smell, but, it doesn't last long. The fabric conditioner got the clothes soft, but, again, the smell doesn't last.

Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?

I probably wouldn't buy it.

Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?

I don't think I can recommend to my family or friends. It was good to get the opportunity to test the products. But, the lack of smell lasting on the clothes is disappointing. It smells lovely, and I like to smell washing products on my clothes.

HettiSpagetti · 20/12/2018 09:55

1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?

I like to use non-bio products as they are better for the environment. I wonder if colouring is added to get the blue colour for the washing liquid - if so is it necessary?

2. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?

I often buy fairy non bio liquid, as I like the product and it works fairly well. I normally buy when on offer or in a bulk size at Costco.

I don't buy fabric conditioner, as never really found the need to add extras to the wash if it does't help clean my clothes. Towels weren't noticeably softer after tumble drying, so I probably wouldn't buy more.

3. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?

Yes, if they asked.

scrivette · 20/12/2018 10:28
  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?

I liked the fresh smell of both of them and they were very easy to use with clear instructions.

I was a bit disappointed that some of the stains weren't removed though, mud and baked beans, as my usual power would remove them.

  1. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?

I wouldn't use the detergent but if the conditioner was on offer I would definitely buy it again.

  1. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?

I would recommend the conditioner.

BumWad · 20/12/2018 11:46
  1. What did you like about the Fairy Non Bio products you tested? Is there anything you think would make them better?

It was easy to use. I liked the fabric conditioner. The detergent bit so much

  1. Now you’ve tried the products, how likely or unlikely would you be to purchase them in the future?

I would buy the fabric conditioner again but not the detergent - it want particularly powerful

  1. Would you recommend the Fairy Non Bio products you tried to family or friends?

Only the fabric conditioner

CommonFishDiseases · 20/12/2018 12:54

Thanks GlitteryFluff, maybe... I normally only wear that cardi for work and not for housework though... but it is a possibility Xmas Sad

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 20/12/2018 12:56

@common non bio products have artificial whiteners in them which I didn't know till i did some research after a similar issue to be fair (no pun intended) it wasn't fairy.

Has anyone had the survey for this yet
