This is the feedback thread for the Mumsnet users with a child aged 6-24 months, who tested Little Yeos Fruity Fromage Frais. All selected testers were given vouchers to buy one of each of the following flavours:

Fairly, my 12 month old daughter is rarely fussy and eats most things but her first pot of this she really wasn’t bothered by. The next day we tried again and she did eat it but in the same way she has devoured other Fromage Frais.

• Would you recommend Little Yeos Fruity Fromage Frais to a friend or family member who is about to wean their baby? Please explain why or why not.

I would recommend them in the sense that we have tried it and that they are specifically designed for babies and young children to be low in sugar but I think the value to other comparable kiddies Fromage Frais May put some off.

• What did you and your child like or dislike about Little Yeos Fruity Fromage Frais 6 packs that you tried?

I liked the apple fruit flavour as this is unusual to other competitive brands. The pots are a great size and shape for little hands.

It’s just sad that not all places stock all flavours equally I had to hunt around to get the 6 pack not the 4 pack.

Overall how satisfied were you and your child with Little Yeos Fruity Fromage Frais?
Great distinct fruir flavours with a good range. Tasted a bit sour to me but neither of my children (1 and 4yrs old) seemed to mind. It has less sugar and they are happy so win-win.

• Would you recommend Little Yeos Fruity Fromage Frais to a friend or family member who is about to wean their baby?

Yes definitely! It is low in sugar but very fruity flavour so a great way to encourage healthy eating. A big variety of flavours too.

• What did you and your child like or dislike about Little Yeos Fruity Fromage Frais 6 packs that you tried?

All of the flavours were great (although strawberry and raspberry were the favorites). I thought it was sour, but the kids loved it. We also liked the animal pictures on the pots. The one negative is that they are a little tricky to snap off without peeling the lid off the other pots.

Yes. We eat a lot of yoghurt at home, so a 6 pack is very handy.

Quite satisfied. We haven't tried fromage frais before and they went down well.

The range of flavours, she liked the apricot ones in particular as that's her favourite fruit.

Unfortunately my 17 month old wasn’t overly impressed with them, maybe because she’s used to natural yogurt it seemed like quite a strong flavour. I thought she’d enjoy them more than she did.

• Would you recommend Little Yeos Fruity Fromage Frais to a friend or family member who is about to wean their baby? Please explain why or why not. I’m not sure I’d recommend them for weaning, plain natural yoghurt seems like a better weaning choice, full fat and no sugar or with some puréed fruit added but that’s just my personal preference.
• What did you and your child like or dislike about Little Yeos Fruity Fromage Frais 6 packs that you tried? I think it was the strong flavour that my child disliked, the texture seemed lovely and smooth.
• Would you buy Little Yeos Fruity Fromage Frais 6 pack again? Unfortunately not as they weren’t well received by my child.

DS ate them all so he must have enjoyed them.

I found them a little bit sharp, So probably wouldn't recommend them over another yoghurt for a baby being weaned, but they were still nice.

• What did you and your child like or dislike about Little Yeos Fruity Fromage Frais 6 packs that you tried? After giving DS a spoon or 2 I had some and found the taste a little sharp. It was ok, but other fromage frais are better.

Probably not. It's 50p more expensive than the usual ones I buy.

I don't think I could be encouraged to buy it more often, we go through 24 a week between DS and DD.

Yes I would I remember weaning mine with some strawberry yogurt from another brand and was shocked about the nutritional value, Yeo Valley really have it good here.

We loved the flavours, the product design like the lid for example, my daughter thought they looked funny and she liked the picture of the pear.

Less sugar but not an artificial sugar they put me completely off a product.

Yes I would infact we have added them to our weekly shopping list my children tend to have two together one time so we go through a ton of yougurt Overall I'm really impressed and I'm happy I was able to test them, they are a little more pricey than other brands but for what you get and the flavours irs worth it. We were not very satisfied with this product which is a shame as we love the adult yoghurts.

I would probably say yes if you like something quick and easy.

• What did you and your child like or dislike about Little Yeos Fruity Fromage Frais 6 packs that you tried?

Normally my little boy has natural yoghurt with a fruit purée and/or some cinnamon and he guzzles it down. However, he was less taken with these. I was quite surprised but when I tasted it myself, I didn’t really like the taste. It tasted almost acidic. I thentook a bad turn and had a bad stomach!

I think we might stick with the natural yoghurt for now.

If they made child size versions of natural yoghurt.

No because they are quite pricey and my little boy wouldn’t eat 6 before the use by date.

Overall how satisfied were you and your child with Little Yeos Fruity Fromage Frais?
My baby (8 months) and I both liked all the flavours. I found it a good consistency for feeding to him without much mess, and I think it would have been palatable in the earlier stages of weaning too due to its smooth texture.
However I'll be sticking with natural yoghurt for him due to the cost and sugar content of the fromage frais. I am disappointed that grape juice has been added. (Sensitivity to glucose runs in my family so I'm extra cautious about this; perhaps it is less of a concern for others.)

I think that if these were simply natural yoghurt with a little pureed fruit mixed in (no grape juice or other extra sugar), the little pots would be useful when in a rush or out and about.

I probably wouldn't recommend them in this scenario because even though they're lower in sugar than other fromage frais (and plenty of the fruit/veg purees too) they still have quite a bit compared to just plain yoghurt with some fruit mixed in. My baby has been more than happy with natural yoghurt, either plain or with a little fruit. But if he had started with these pots I am not sure he would have liked plain yoghurt as much. It is also expensive compared to taking a tablespoon of plain yoghurt out of a big tub and adding mashed/pureed fruit.

What did you and your child like or dislike about Little Yeos Fruity Fromage Frais 6 packs that you tried?
I liked that they were organic, and it was nice to have two flavours within each 6 pack (though I say this having liked all the flavours: otherwise, it might be annoying if you're after one flavour in particular; it's also annoying to have to hop between different supermarkets for the whole range). The portion size seemed about right too. I can imagine them being good for on-the-go/packed lunch, although generally I'd prefer not to be generating so much plastic waste on a day-to-day basis so a large tub option would be great for day-to-day use at home.

I like the fact that it's live yoghurt (I think? Couldn't actually see confirmation of this on the packet or the website).
My baby loved all the flavours but he also likes natural yoghurt, either completely plain or with a little mashed up fruit added. In fact, due to the sugar content of these, rather than feeding them to my baby as they were I started to mix them with some Yeo Valley natural yoghurt, which was fine but defeats the object of having a ready-prepared yoghurt in a pot.

Would you buy Little Yeos Fruity Fromage Frais 6 pack again?
I might as a one-off, but it wouldn't be a regular purchase.

What would encourage you to buy yogurt or fromage frais for your child more often?

• I do often buy plain natural yoghurt, generally from Yeo Valley, for my child. If Yeo Valley made natural yoghurt mixed with some fruit for flavour, but no grape juice sweetener, I'd be more inclined to buy again.

Would you consider buying Little Yeos Natural Fromage Frais in a 6 pack for your child?

• Probably not at this time, for the reasons given above.

I meant to add that I think the little colouring and craft activity inside of the lid is a great touch too.

We really enjoyed the different flavours, I tried them too. Creamy and tasty. My child didn't like the raspberry one, perhaps as it wasn't quite as sweet (or maybe sourer) as the others.

Loved the craft activity inside the packaging, too!

Yes, at the right price. I think it's silly that not all flavours are stocked at every supermarket though.

Cheaper, I think it’s good that they’re organic and have less sugar but probably more than I’d usually spend, unless they were on offer. You can buy natural yoghurt with no sugar for cheaper, but these are handy which of course is a bonus.

Yes i have purchased a further 6 packs since, as they love them! They enjoyed all the flavors and i am happy knowing they are getting quality and nutritious pots of goodness. I have recommended them to all my friends and family :)

We liked them, they are definitely not as sweet as our normal brand and my son was shocked when he first took his spoonful but was licking the pot by the end! I preferred them, they tasted a lot more natural.

Yes, they are not too sweet but still a treat and would happily recommend them for a little one.

My son liked the animals on the lids, he enjoyed choosing which one he wanted each time. He liked the strawberry ones the best, but I liked the more unusual Apple & pear flavours. My older son also liked them.

Sounds silly, but I thought they were more expensive than they are as we usually online shop and I've never spotted them. They are definitely yummier than our normal brand so yes I would.

We buy them every week anyway, but maybe an easier transportable version?

I was very satisfied with the product, they seemed to go down well with my youngest son(9 months) and my oldest son(5 years) likes them too were a nice size for little ones.

Yes I would recommend them for weaning babies. They were a good size and I liked they are mild flavours with no added sugar.

I liked the size, the flavours and the values behind the yogurts. However I do think they are a tad pricey compared to the other yogurts.

Yes I would consider buying them again, my two children do like yogurts after their dinner.

I do like generally to buy a bigger tub of yogurt, so I would like to see a big tub you could buy and use but I would buy the 6 pack now and again.

I will mention we did not try one flavour of the yogurts as we could not find it in our local stores. The other two we also had to buy in two different supermarkets.

Yes, I would recommend particularly to people who are about to wean as the small pots are perfect for weaning, they are also full of good stuff and organic.

My child likes the taste and the design of the packaging with the cow, I like the fact it's organic and made with actual fruit however I do feel that the pots are quite small, it would be good to offer larger pots as sometimes my daughter has to have two.

I wouldn't need encouragement as I buy them each week however it would be nice to see some more unusual flavours.

I would recommend this to others but not at start of weaning I would say wait for 8 months or so , let the baby try vegetables and fruits first.

We both liked the taste , the pot size was good as it allows for little wastage. It tastes very natural, not too sweet. I like the consistency also.

I was very satisfied. My daughter (16months) seemed to enjoy the variety in flavours and the size was perfect for after a meal or as an extra at breakfast.

Yes I would. The flavours aren't too strong for a weaning baby and the texture was nice and smooth and not too thick.

My LO liked the flavours of the yoghurts and the creaminess. I liked the size of the product.

Yes I would as they seemed to enjoy them but as said above I'd probably only buy them when they are on offer.
