This thread is for the 280 Mumsnetters who tested Lidl Lupilu Nappies with their DCs. If you're wondering where to get the best bargains for baby products, Mumsnetters' have picked out their favourite buys from the Lupilu range here

The following items were tested:
Size 1 Newborn Nappies 24 pack £1.09
Size 2 Newborn Mini Nappies 44 pack £2.19
Size 3 Midi (4-9kg) 56 pack £3.49
Size 4 Maxi (7-18kg) 50 pack £3.49
Size 4+ Maxi Plus Nappies (9-20kg) 44 pack £3.49
Size 5+ Junior Plus Nappies (13-27kg) 36 pack £3.09
Size 6+ Extra Large Plus Nappies (16+kg) 26 pack £3.29

Here’s what Lidl have to say about the product:
"Lidl knows the most important things when choosing a nappy are dryness, protection and comfort. That's why we ensure ultimate dryness and leakage protection, and last year Mumsnetters asked for a wetness indicator on size 1 Newborn Nappies, so we added one!”

“There is no need to pay a premium price for a premium nappy, our prices are low but our quality is high. Our nappies are dermatologically tested, latex free, skin-friendly and independently tested. Protecting the environment is also important, therefore the padding used is from sustainably managed forests. The slim design means less materials, less packaging and less energy, helping to minimise our carbon footprint.”

My child is 12 months old, wearing size 4.
I liked how soft and flexible the nappies were. They did not leak even when I used them overnight.
I would definetly recommend these to a friend.
I plan to buy these nappies in the future. Really happy with them.

TheWeatherGirl1 · 15/01/2018 19:29

6 months in size 3

Nice and soft but leaked overnight.

Would recommend and buy again, but not for nighttime

TheWeatherGirl1 · 15/01/2018 19:30

6 mths in size 3.

Soft and a good size.

Leaked overnight, so would both buy and recommend again, but not for overnight use.

bec4everuk1 · 15/01/2018 19:31

My son is 16 months old and we got the opportunity to try size 4+.

I really liked the design of the nappies the rabbit and the owl were cute and I liked that they also featured on the back of the nappy too, to signify the front of the rabbit being the front of the nappy and the back of the rabbit being the back of the nappy likewise with the owl.
They didn't have a cheap feel about them and we have experienced no leaks with them even when used overnight.
The straps on the side to hold the nappy in place had a very strong feel to them which is good as I have had previous nappies where the straps have snapped off.

Yes I would recommend them to a friend if was asked as we haven't had any leaks with them and they have a pretty design and I imagine they are alot cheaper than other alternative nappies on the market which makes them good value for money.

Yes I would certainly buy Lidl's nappies because they're good value for money and kept my son dry all night in bed with no leaks and we liked the design.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I liked them. They were soft and fitted my baby well. The nappies are thin and absorbent and the pictures are interesting enough to distract the baby while the old nappy is taken off (very important in our house!)

We did have one leak overnight but the baby feeds a lot in the night so does wet a lot. They are fine during the day though.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

I would and have done.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

I will, they are a great price and do the job well!

MoNigheanDonn · 15/01/2018 19:46

1) How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

18mths, used the 4+ (but I'll probably but size 5 from now on)

2) What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I found them very good. No leaks at all, they coped very well overnight. They fit my toddler well, some other brands don't sit right on him but these did. They weren't bulky either which is great. Economy pricetag for a quality product.

3) Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes, I was very impressed with them so would highly recommend.

4) Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

Yes, I was very impressed with the quality and the price is amazing! I'll definitely by purchasing them from now on.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
14 month old boy, size 4

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
I liked the texture which is not papery. The size number annoyed me a lot being on the back. I change nappies without thinking and the number is helpful being on thr front.

  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
    Definitely

  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?
They worked for my boy, no leaks so definitely

NurseKeegan · 15/01/2018 20:20

Pippa will be 2 next month and we tested the 6+ nappies!

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Great fit! We haven’t had a single leak at night that we’ve had with all other nappies! So absorbent! No complaints.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

100% - I have recommended these to my best friend who has just given birth!

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

I will definitely be buying from this range when my baby is born in Feb/March! Trustworthy and reasonably priced!

How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
My baby is 7 weeks old we used size 2

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
Really like them, very good value for money, if I had to be very picky I’d say perhaps not as stretchy as pampers

  2. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
    Yes definitely

  3. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?
Exactly value and do a good job

Padget · 16/01/2018 09:46
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use? 10-11 months, size 4
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? The packaging was very similar to the ocado nappies I used last time I bought some. They seem a good quality product.
  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? Probably would mention them as worth trying
  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why? Currently no, because it would mean making an inconvenient trip to the nearest Lidl and I can get fairly cheap supermarket own brand nappies much closer to home. However if I happened to be near one, I may well stock up
JaniceBattersby · 16/01/2018 10:28
  1. 3y 1m, size 6+
  2. Liked them. They contained everything and were quite large, which is good when they’re on a very tall three year old. They were slightly thin though, which meant after a full night the nappy bagged down his legs a bit,
  3. Yes, would recommend.
  4. Would probably buy them if I was in a Lidl but we don’t have one for ten miles around here.

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? Really liked them, thin and absorbant. Lasted well overnight. Don't smell like chemicals (like some other brands)
  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? yes
  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why? Yes, they are comfortable, don't leak, last all night and a good price.

  1. My little girl is 11 months old and we used size 4
  2. I found them to be very absorbent but very thin and not bulky. They fastened very well and were easy to put on. I personally wasn't keen on the pattern. I also thought the price was very good compared to my usual brand.
  3. Yes!
  4. No, because there's no Lidl near me. I would if I were able to get to one though.
EEandEmakes3 · 16/01/2018 13:15
  1. 11 weeks old, Size 2 nappies

  2. I was very impressed with the design, the elasticated waistband prevented any messy explosions leaking from the nappy. The introduction of the wetness indicator was helpful. (this wasn't on the previous design)

  3. I would definitely recommend the nappies to friends and family.

  4. I will be buying these as soon as they're available at my local Lidl's store. They are great value for money, not bulky and I didn't have to worry about those messy leaks. Overall a great alternative to other well known brands. 👍🏾

Beautymama · 16/01/2018 13:37
  1. 18 months size 6+

  3. Yes totally recommend to family and friends & soft play group.

  4. Yes we will definitely be buying them again until little one is on potty full time. Totally because we had no leaks at bedtime.
Great design, totally great value for the money. ♡♡

MyBabyIsPerfect · 16/01/2018 13:54

5 months, size 4

I liked the materials, they feel very soft but are very absobant. Was shocked at how thin they are! I didn’t like the old Lidl nappies but these were great and I didn’t dislike anything about them.

Yes I would recommend.

Yes I would buy them again.

dontticklethetoad · 16/01/2018 14:06
  1. 2.5 years, size 6+

  2. We only use for night times as my daughter still has a couple of wet nights a week.
Overall we have been really impressed and I can't think of anything I don't like about them!

  3. Yes, and already have done!

  4. Yes, I definitely would. They are thin, well fitting and most importantly they hold a whole nights wee from a 2.5 year old!

lucylou1234 · 16/01/2018 16:02

1) How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

Baby is 4 months and using size 3 nappies

2) What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

When i first opened them i was pleasantly surprised that they weren't bulky. I was disappointed that there was no "blue" line on the nappies to check if they are wet. As a FTM i like this feature on nappies. I also found that the came up smaller than other brands that i use. My LO is on the 9th centile but has chubby thighs and this was where it came up small. I feel that then going up to a size 4 would probably be too big. They do seem to hold allot though but still managed to have a couple leaks.

3) Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

I would say for people to try them as every baby is different in shape. They do seem good value for money.

4) Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

I probably wouldn't for the reasons stated in question 2. I like being able to have a quick peak to see if nappy needs changed so as not to disturb LO.

Blackteadrinker77 · 16/01/2018 18:04

Size 2 new born

We loved them, they have a stretchy back where the Aldi version don't in that size.
The mainly velcro tab rather than just a sticky tab made them easier to change.
We are already recommending them and will be buying them. Great product for the price.
