This thread is for the 280 Mumsnetters who tested Lidl Lupilu Nappies with their DCs. If you're wondering where to get the best bargains for baby products, Mumsnetters' have picked out their favourite buys from the Lupilu range here

The following items were tested:
Size 1 Newborn Nappies 24 pack £1.09
Size 2 Newborn Mini Nappies 44 pack £2.19
Size 3 Midi (4-9kg) 56 pack £3.49
Size 4 Maxi (7-18kg) 50 pack £3.49
Size 4+ Maxi Plus Nappies (9-20kg) 44 pack £3.49
Size 5+ Junior Plus Nappies (13-27kg) 36 pack £3.09
Size 6+ Extra Large Plus Nappies (16+kg) 26 pack £3.29

Here’s what Lidl have to say about the product:
"Lidl knows the most important things when choosing a nappy are dryness, protection and comfort. That's why we ensure ultimate dryness and leakage protection, and last year Mumsnetters asked for a wetness indicator on size 1 Newborn Nappies, so we added one!”

“There is no need to pay a premium price for a premium nappy, our prices are low but our quality is high. Our nappies are dermatologically tested, latex free, skin-friendly and independently tested. Protecting the environment is also important, therefore the padding used is from sustainably managed forests. The slim design means less materials, less packaging and less energy, helping to minimise our carbon footprint.”

Below are some questions we’d like you to answer, but feel free to add any other comments you may have.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

All testers who leave their feedback on site and complete the short survey we sent to you will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 Love2Shop voucher!

I used size 3 on my 12 week old.

I'm really pleased with these nappies. I have previously tried Lidl size 2 nappies and found them too stiff and bulky, although not Lupilu (I also found this with Boots size 2, so perhaps it's a size thing).
I found them soft and adaptive. They weren't bulky but coped well. I found them as good as the Pampers, Aldi or Tesco that we use.
I liked the design, although I would love a wetness indicator on most sizes.

I would recommend them.

I would buy Lupilu nappies as Lidl is easily accessible and the nappies are good quality and good value.

  1. My little girl is 1 year old. 2)Very absorbent but we got couple accidents with leaking poo (my girl eat everything now so it isn't runny poo but still didn't stay in nappy). 3)Probably will recommend. 4)I will stick with Pampers as there was no accidents with them.

The design was nice but there was not much give in them and were a little restricting and not too comfortable,

  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Not for older toddlers but they are probably fine for babies,

  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?
No because the fit was not very good

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

16 weeks, size 2

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

The nappies were just as good as any others I have tried- no leaks, including at night when I tend to leave it for longer between changes.
You do tend to change often at this age though, and poo leaks are random rather than nappy issues in my experience

I didn’t love the elasticated back, but really the nappies were totally fine

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

Yes, if I was in/near a Lidl and doing shopping I’d be happy to buy these

BigBroIsWatching · 22/01/2018 22:13

How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
20 months. We used size 6.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Really impressed! In fact, they look and acted very similar to another leading brand. Loved the fact they were flexible with movement, not too stiff, had great absorbency. Nothing to dislike.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? Absolutely. In fact, I'd rather use these ones than the ones I'm currently using on my toddler.
  2. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

Yes! I'd buy them as they are just as good, if not better, than leading brands.

How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
My son is 2years and 9 months and we tested size 6 nappies

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? I liked the fact they fitted well, decent amount of coverage with the sticky tabs so you didn't end up pulling them off! They were quite absorbant- we had two leakers from the whole pack but this is quite common for my son at the moment no matter how often I change him. They were very good at night and lasted 11 hours no problem. I didn't like the fact that they didn't seem to absorb the smell as well as others and I noticed up close there was a faint smell of urine when my son used these.
  2. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? If they were looking for a leak proof option I would say these are the best in thus size
  3. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why? Yes for nighttime absorbency but perhaps not daytime as I didn't like the smell!

  1. five weeks, size one

  2. stayed dry to the touch even after several hours. Did not have any leaks, the other 2 brands I have tried leaked around the tabs, even when nappy was fairly dry, so I was changing multiple times a night. With these I was was confident I only needed to change for number 2s.

  3. absolutely, they are as good if not better than any other brand I have used and excellent value for money

  4. if Lidl built a store in my town I would definitely buy these nappies for both my children

Cupcakey · 31/01/2018 12:44

4 weeks old ds and we tested;
Size 2 Newborn Mini Nappies 44 pack

I was really impressed with Lidl's Lupilu nappies, we tested the size 2, my little boy was born 9lb 1oz and he fitted in these brilliantly. We've not had any leaks and they are not too bulky and are soft to the touch which is lovely for baby skin. There wasn't really anything I would suggest improving as I was very impressed. The price/ nappy amount is also good.
I would recommend these nappies to friends and I am tempted to switch to these nappies from my current brand as I can't fault them.

Aniamarsh · 31/01/2018 13:08

My LO is only 9 weeks. I used size 1 when he was 6-7 weeks. Good size for a newborn. Those nappies are very absorbent and last for much longer than a very popular other brand. The price is amazing too. I would definitely recommend this product to my friends and in fact I already have recommended it to six pregnant girlfriends. I will definitely use those nappies again. Thank you so much.

Wowzel · 31/01/2018 13:27

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

My DD is 18 months and we tested size 4+

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Overall impression is that they completely satisfied our criteria. My DD sleeps 7-7 and I've struggled to find nappies to cope with the duration of wear without leaking but these managed well.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes, absolutely.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

Yes I would as they are one of the few brands to not leak during the night and they're good value for money.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

My baby is now 8 months old and I tested size 4 nappies.
2) What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

The nappies seem softer and more flexible than usual. They fit really well and my daughter is now very active and they withstand all the movement. Don't have any dislikes that I can think of.
3) Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

I have already recommended these nappies to friends who use more expensive brands. The Lidl nappies seem far more superior and leak proof than other nappies I have tried.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

I already have bought more of these nappies. They are a great price, great product and leak proof.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

3weeks old size 1

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Really liked that they fitted very well. I've previously tried all the big brands and most supermarket brands and all of them were too big as she was only 4lb. Also liked that the sticky tabs were very sticky which will be grammar for when she's older and a wriggler.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Definitely. Excellent value for money.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

Yes as I've finally found a nappy that fits her well.

foreveryours123 · 31/01/2018 16:23

I TRIED THE SIZE 4 NAPPIES AND THEY WERE VERY VERY GOOD, ABSORBANT, LOVELY FIT AROUND THE LEGS, TEXTURE WAS GOOD AND THE PICTURES ON THE NAPPYS WERE QUITE CUTE, THE TABS OPENED AND RE CLOSED WELLTOO. OVER ALL I WOULD RECOMEND THESE NAPPYS TO BOTH FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

DumbledoresArmy · 31/01/2018 20:44

The nappies were good quality, nice design. Fit well. DS liked them!

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes, absolutely

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

Yes without hesitation!

Boogalu45 · 01/02/2018 08:06

I tried the 4+ size on my 9 month old Daughter.
First impressions were that they looked cheap and flimsy. However they did the job very well and the flimsyness meant they were lightweight and not too bulky which was important as she's just started crawling. I wasn't too keen on the pictures on them but that's just me. Good value for money and would possibly recommend but will probably stick to Tesco superfit.

  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?I would buy them in future because they are just as good as other nappies if not better
INeedNewShoes · 02/02/2018 15:09

Firstly, sorry that I am a bit late in reviewing these. The reason is that, even though DD has been in Size 3 nappies in other brands for over two months, these Lidl Size 3s are enormous in comparison to the three other brands of nappies I'm familiar with so I had to wait for her to grow a bit to try them!

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

My DD is just about to turn 9 months. We tried the Size 3 nappies.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

The overall impression is that they are OK and much of a muchness with other brands.
I like that they aren't bulky.
They aren't quite as absorbent as our usual brand, and I don't particularly like the colourful design - I prefer a plainer design. I missed the colour-changing line that other nappies have when wet.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

No, I'm afraid I prefer another brand which are the same price and in my view slightly better.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

I wouldn't buy them in future. Other brands are a better fit for my daughter.

Kaffiene · 03/02/2018 08:36
  1. 2 weeks old - Newborn nappies
  2. Yes, really impressed with how soft and compact they were.
  3. absolutely
  4. Yes, Lovely and soft, not bulky, and of course can’t beat the price!
ememem84 · 03/02/2018 08:46

I’m a bit late to this as nappies only arrived this week. But we are halfway through testing so thought I’d give my feedback.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use? - ds is 4 months and we tested/are testing size 3 nappies

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? I liked them. Ds hasn’t noticed any difference! They seem slightly thinner than the usual ones we buy (boots own brand) but are as absorbent. We’ve had one nighttime leak - but I think that’s user error on my part - not doing it up enough rather than nappy failure!

  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? - yes! Absolutely.

  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why? Yes. But I live in the Channel Islands and we don’t have a Lidl store here. My closest would be south coast uk or France. So a bit of a trek! But if I was in uk with the car I would definetly stock up on these. I think they’re cheaper than our usual ones too.
