This thread is for the 280 Mumsnetters who tested Lidl Lupilu Nappies with their DCs. If you're wondering where to get the best bargains for baby products, Mumsnetters' have picked out their favourite buys from the Lupilu range here

The following items were tested:
Size 1 Newborn Nappies 24 pack £1.09
Size 2 Newborn Mini Nappies 44 pack £2.19
Size 3 Midi (4-9kg) 56 pack £3.49
Size 4 Maxi (7-18kg) 50 pack £3.49
Size 4+ Maxi Plus Nappies (9-20kg) 44 pack £3.49
Size 5+ Junior Plus Nappies (13-27kg) 36 pack £3.09
Size 6+ Extra Large Plus Nappies (16+kg) 26 pack £3.29

Here’s what Lidl have to say about the product:
"Lidl knows the most important things when choosing a nappy are dryness, protection and comfort. That's why we ensure ultimate dryness and leakage protection, and last year Mumsnetters asked for a wetness indicator on size 1 Newborn Nappies, so we added one!”

“There is no need to pay a premium price for a premium nappy, our prices are low but our quality is high. Our nappies are dermatologically tested, latex free, skin-friendly and independently tested. Protecting the environment is also important, therefore the padding used is from sustainably managed forests. The slim design means less materials, less packaging and less energy, helping to minimise our carbon footprint.”

Below are some questions we’d like you to answer, but feel free to add any other comments you may have.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

All testers who leave their feedback on site and complete the short survey we sent to you will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 Love2Shop voucher!

Thanks and good luck

  1. My child is 2yrs old & I tested the size 4 nappies.
  2. At first I thought the Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies wouldn't be absorbent enough as they looked a bit thin but I was impressed with them. We didn't have any leakage anime child was comfortable.
  3. yes, I would recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation
  4. Yes I would buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future. Thank you for the nappies.
GirlfromMars10 · 14/01/2018 21:41

1.) 11 months and used size 4+
2.) I was really impressed by the nappies. I've tried a few brands but use Pampers as I've found them the most reliable, certainly overnight. However the Lidl nappies were great. They were thin but we never had any leaks. I love the fact they are environmentally friendly, although I think that should be made clear on the packaging as I saw the FSC symbol but didn't know how it related to the nappies so I'm really pleased. The tabs were strong and secure and the fit was good/sizing seemed accurate. The pictures were nice, although generally irrelevant as didn't add much really.
3.) Yes
4.) I would buy them as they are very reasonably priced, although our nearest Lidl is 2 miles away with minimal parking so I'd have to do a special trip and buy lots to make it worth doing.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

2 and 3/4 - Size 5+

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

My son loved the designs, which was nice. He got very excited! I like the concerned about the environment claims, but don’t know how this differs from other nappies. We used to use cloth but my son got too big they stopped fitting well. They lasted well, only a couple leaked and that was after a long wear. They fitted nicely, but I thought my son was scratching at the legs a couple of times. This could have been a coincidence and didn’t happen many times. I thought they were a little poor on odour control a couple of times but this is being picky - overall I was very pleased and pleasantly surprised.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes
4) Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

I would, the price is great. Sadly I don’t go to Lidl so would have to make a special trip. They may well be worth it!

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
The nappies were sturdy, comfortable and didn't leak. I liked the design. There were no drawbacks that I noticed.

  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
    Yes definitely.

  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

Mindfulofmuddle · 14/01/2018 23:25
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use? 4.5 years - size 6+
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? The nappies were great. The looked quite thin when I got them out of the pack, and I wondered if they would have the absorbency needed for night time, but they were perfect - no leaks and no bulging. I liked that they were comfortable and not at all bulky for ds to wear in bed.
  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? I would absolutely recommend these nappies - I found no difference in performance to premium brands.
  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why? I would definitely buy them. They are a brilliant buy for the price.
NerrSnerr · 15/01/2018 10:17
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
9 Months. We used size 3.

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
I loved the designs, very cute. They appeared comfortable. The only downside is that they leak at night so need changing. We don’t get this with other brands.

  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
    Yes

  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?
If in Lidl I will do.

Bringmewineandcake · 15/01/2018 11:07
  1. my baby is 18 months old and we tested the 4+ nappies.

  2. the nappies felt quite thin when I got them out of the packet but we had no leaks even overnight. I liked how strong the tabs felt, they seemed really secure. My dd liked the diffferent pictures on the nappies, compared to always having the same picture on our usual brand. There was nothing I disliked about them.

  3. I would recommend them to a friend, they’ve been good reliable nappies.

  4. I would happily buy lupilu nappies again if I was in Lidl. I don’t currently go into Lidl very often though and wouldn’t make a special trip in just to buy nappies.

Starlight85 · 15/01/2018 12:13
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

My DD is 12 and a half months and we tried the size 4 nappies.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I really liked them, the outside and inside felt soft and I also liked the size of them compared to other brands of the same size. They seemed bigger and so covered well, which I think helped prevent leaks. We didn’t experience any leaks.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes I would.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

I will because I was really impressed with them and they are cheaper than the brand we currently use.

Starlight85 · 15/01/2018 12:14

Correction to my post above, my DD is 12 Months not 12 and a half!

CordeliaScott · 15/01/2018 12:32
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use? DS is 18 months old. We used the size 6+
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? I thought that they seemed just as good as my usual brand. They seemed comfy, fitted well and most importantly did not leak!
  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? Yes
  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why? I would probably continue to use the pants that I am currently using as I find it easier to put pants on a running toddler rather than nappies. If there is a pants version I would certainly consider them.
DryHeave · 15/01/2018 13:06

1) How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
6 weeks old (but 5kg+) and we tested size 3.

2) What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
The Lidl Lupulu Nappies came compactly packed in attractive packaging (more so than the current Toujours range). The Nappies were easy to use, a good fit with strong sticky tabs (even when readjusted) and absorbent. We were saved from a very large poonami as the nappies are fairly “tall” and have had no issues/leaks with large nighttime wees (though he doesn’t go much more than 4 hours at the moment!).

3) Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Yes and I’m sure I will amongst my NCT group.

4) Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?
Absolutely. I tested the Lidl Lupilu Nappies against the Boots Baby size 3 nappies and there was really very little difference (if any apart from the cartoons!) but the Lidl nappies provide much better value for money. I also happen to live local to a Lidl store and so it’s good to know that I can pick the nappies up easily and the quality isn’t a compromise for the convenience.

LurkinMerkin · 15/01/2018 16:28
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

Baby is 9.5 months, we used size 4.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
I liked them, they were a good fit, didn’t leak and felt like they were good quality without being bulky, my baby is very active crawling and climbing and trying to walk and they held up very well. Nothing I didn’t like.

  2. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
    Yes definitely.

  3. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

I will definitely buy them, they are good value for money and less papery feeling than other more expensive ‘name brands’. Thank you for letting us test them for you!

hebrideanprincess · 15/01/2018 16:35

AGnu · 15/01/2018 17:30

1) How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
6 weeks, size 1

2) What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
Perfectly functional but did have a bit of a "cheap" feeling - the inside wasn't quite as smooth as our usual brand. The wetness indicator is paler than on any nappies we've used before but we're "change every few hours" people & don't pay attention to the line.

3) Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Yes, if I knew said friend lived near a Lidl & was looking for a cheap alternative to a brand name.

4) Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?
Probably not, I'm happy to pay a little more for the smoother inside & we're planning to switch to cloth nappies soon anyway!

MacNcheese87 · 15/01/2018 17:31

Following on from my previous review, I've actually sent my husband to Lidl to buy two more packs of nappies. We got the next size up, as I think she's in between sizes but we haven't had any issues with them at all.

We really like Lidl nappies. As a result of this product test, we will aim to stock up on these nappies for the foreseeable future.

lottielotto · 15/01/2018 17:33
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use? My baby is 12 months and we tested size 4plus.

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
Good quality, they were absorbant with no leaks, and had very cute designs.

  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
    Yes definitely!

  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?
Yes, they are much better quality than other own brands.

DollyLlama · 15/01/2018 17:37
  1. 9 weeks old, size 2 nappies
  2. I was very impressed with the quality. They have contained some very nasty nappies no problem as they have a nice elasticated fit at the back.
  3. I would certainly recommend these nappies to a friend.
  4. I’ve been buying tesco own nappies for a while and pampers for my older daughter as Tesco’s nappies leaked with her. I’ll certainly be buying these for my baby again and will try the bigger size for my older daughter too.
thUnderdog · 15/01/2018 17:46

1) How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
15 months, size 5+
2) What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
Firstly, I'm not too sure why the sizes seem to skip. No size 5. Anyway, if this is 5+ in terms of being more absorbent than size 5, I'm glad we got 5+ as they still weren't absorbent enough.
They were lovely and thin whilst dry, that was nice. The fit and design are fine. The price is fine. Unfortunately, they were demoted to day nappies only as they leaked most nights they were on.
3) Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
I would recommend they try them, especially if they have a newborn, as those nappies are often different anyway, but I'd warn them we had leaks when worn a full night.
4) Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?
I'd buy them in an emergency but I'd only use them during the day. Or I'd try the tiny sizes if I had another baby, as we might get on with those better! For now, only Tesco seems to work for us!

littledinaco · 15/01/2018 18:00
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

19 Months. Size 3

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Very impressed overall. Loved the design. Nappies seemed comfortable and didn’t leak. Nappies were not bulky at all and well fitting.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes, price and quality are fantastic.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

Yes, would defiantly buy, price is really good and quality is great in comparison to other nappies I have used.

baby410 · 15/01/2018 18:58
  1. 14 weeks, Size 3
  2. They are nice and soft and not as bulky as some other brands. They are quite big compared to other brands so I would have probably got a size 2 if I'd known that.
  3. Yes I would definitely recommend them
  4. I would buy them in the future.
ChefsFloozie · 15/01/2018 19:08
  1. 19 months and tested 6+
  1. Was very impressed with these nappies, slim but really absorbent. Didn't dislike anything.
  1. I would definitely recommend them to a friend
  1. I would buy them again, I was very impressed especially at such a reasonable price
