This thread is for the 280 Mumsnetters who tested Lidl Lupilu Nappies with their DCs. If you're wondering where to get the best bargains for baby products, Mumsnetters' have picked out their favourite buys from the Lupilu range here

The following items were tested:
Size 1 Newborn Nappies 24 pack £1.09
Size 2 Newborn Mini Nappies 44 pack £2.19
Size 3 Midi (4-9kg) 56 pack £3.49
Size 4 Maxi (7-18kg) 50 pack £3.49
Size 4+ Maxi Plus Nappies (9-20kg) 44 pack £3.49
Size 5+ Junior Plus Nappies (13-27kg) 36 pack £3.09
Size 6+ Extra Large Plus Nappies (16+kg) 26 pack £3.29

Here’s what Lidl have to say about the product:
"Lidl knows the most important things when choosing a nappy are dryness, protection and comfort. That's why we ensure ultimate dryness and leakage protection, and last year Mumsnetters asked for a wetness indicator on size 1 Newborn Nappies, so we added one!”

“There is no need to pay a premium price for a premium nappy, our prices are low but our quality is high. Our nappies are dermatologically tested, latex free, skin-friendly and independently tested. Protecting the environment is also important, therefore the padding used is from sustainably managed forests. The slim design means less materials, less packaging and less energy, helping to minimise our carbon footprint.”

Below are some questions we’d like you to answer, but feel free to add any other comments you may have.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

All testers who leave their feedback on site and complete the short survey we sent to you will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 Love2Shop voucher!

Thanks and good luck

I haven't received mine yet either though I have a parcel I missed today so hoping it's that.

teainbed · 04/01/2018 20:23

Thanks for letting me test the nappies.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

DS is 8.5 months and we tested size 4+ (he's a big boy!).

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I really liked them. They were a nice slim nappy and not bulky at all. I liked the packaging and the designs on the nappies. There was nothing I disliked or would change. They would be good value for money if you were buying these. They didn't ruck up or bunch up round the legs. My DS has a very delicate bottom and he didn't get any nappy rash or redness whilst using these nappies. They felt like a good quality product.

I haven't used one overnight but will do tonight and report back. I am a bit nervous about using anything other than a premium brand (sleep is so precious!) for such a long spell at night.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

I already have recommended these to my sister!

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

I would. The only thing that would stop me is the fact that I get an internet shopping delivery and buy just about everything from there. I do go to Lidl every 4-6 weeks to stock up on some of the bits we like so can get them then but would probably use other brands in the meantime.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
dd is 18 months old and we’re testing size 5+

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
when I first opened the nappies I liked how thin they were, the stretchiness of the tabs and how soft they felt. I don’t know if it was the batch that we have, but unfortunately we have had quite a few leaks and I can feel the absorbent beads inside, which has put me off a bit

  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
I would recommend that they give them a try, but be open about our experience. Different babies suit different nappies

  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?
I would give them another try, more so for the curiosity over whether we might have been unlucky with the pack that we have. There were many positives that would definitely draw me back to trying them again

  1. Size 4 on my 26month old
leanneth · 04/01/2018 20:51

Aaagghh, sorry!

  1. size 4 on my 26 month old
  2. I was very surprised at how light, skin and soft these nappies were. I really liked the designs on them- very cute. The tabs seem very sturdy and overall they seem a good fit.
  3. yes I would definitely recommend these nappies
  4. I would buy these nappies in future if I was in or near a Lidl at the time. I have only ever been in our local Lidl a couple of times but perhaps I should go in there more often. Very comfortable looking and honestly surprised at how slim and light they are!
thenewaveragebear1983 · 04/01/2018 21:02
  1. My Ds is 2 and 3 months, and we used size 5+.
  2. These nappies look and feel almost identical to pampers. After using I would say that the waist fixings are slightly longer than pampers which actually helps as Ds has quite a round tummy.
  3. I'd definitely recommend because I think a lot of people may believe budget brands are not as good.
  4. I'd definitely buy these again in future, as I have been very impressed with the quality and absorbency. We are potty training soon so I may also look into the pull up nappies.
RustyRoller · 04/01/2018 21:29
  1. My DD is 6 weeks old and I used sized 1.

  2. I liked them because they were relatively compact, didn't have too much of chemical smell and had fairly soft texture. Also the price seems good compared with the nappies I am currently using. However, they were a bit small and tight around leg holes and waist compared with others I've been using (Naty, pampers, Tesco, Boots). Personally it's not a big deal as long as you know it and go up a size a bit earlier.

  3. I would recommend to a friend but would also mention their smallish size.

  4. I would if I have chance to go to Lidl as I think the quality is fairly good and the prices are competitive.

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/01/2018 21:54

1 dd is 9mths and in size 4

2 fantastic. i use Lidl nappies anyway. Like the cost half the price of pampers and when dd was having a night feed they lasted 12hrs of wee and no leaks - they aren’t rough and be we had a tab break unlike some other brands

3 I always do. Tho sadly some friends are too snobby to leave pampers

4 yes I use Lidl previously

EllaMenoPea · 04/01/2018 22:27

I haven’t received mine yet

londonrach · 04/01/2018 22:30

I never received the nappies despite saying they send them

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/01/2018 22:37

Nappies only arrived after new year. Maybe give it another day or two the two posters who replied after me

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
    Age 2.5, size 6+

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
We liked the patterns on the nappy (toddler especially enjoyed the fact there were two different designs in the pack). The nappies aren't bulky, I've found the tabs to do a great job and we have no leaks so far. The cost is also a big positive.

  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes, would definitely mention that we had tried the nappies and had good results

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

Yes, seem to be good value (although we don't have a store nearby, so might not be a regular occurrence)

CrazyOldBagLady · 05/01/2018 00:33
  1. 7 weeks old. Size 1 newborn.
  2. They were a good fit and felt nice and soft. I liked the elastic waistband as it provided a snug but comfortable fit. I particularly liked the sticky tabs that were a contrasting colour so they were easy to see. I’ve not seen this before on other brands. Lidl have added a wetness indicator that I don’t think was on their old nappies, so this is an improvement.
  3. Yes
  4. Yes, they are good quality and good value
MamaOfTwoBoys · 05/01/2018 04:31
  1. 8 weeks old

  2. They felt a lot stiffee rhan the pampers we usually use and I was concerned this would mean they weren’t as flexible when worn and would leak. This didn’t happen at all. DS actually felt less ‘full’ than he does in pampers and they have less of a full nappy bulge!

  3. Yes, I actually really like them.

  4. Yes. They work just as well as his normal Pampers ones are are significantly cheaper!

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
  • my son is 23 months and we tested size 5+
  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
  • i’d Tried Lidl Toujour range when my son was around 3 months and hated them, the difference between the Lupilu and the Old Toujour is huge. The Lupliu didn’t leak once (and my son wee’s ALOT at night) they are really thin, so much so that I was sure they would leak but didn’t, my son seems to be more comfortable as a result, also the design is nice, little animal characters so I can hand him a spare nappy to look at the characters when we are having a particularly difficult change.
  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
  • I think most of the supermarket brand nappies are good but would recommend if your a regular Lidl shopper.
  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?
  • Yes I will be changing to these nappies, I did a product test for another supermarket brand and was going out my way to get those nappies as they performed really well but these perform just as well so will be swapping to Lupilu
Reubymum · 05/01/2018 08:52

Thank you for the opportunity to test these!

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

4 months size 3.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I really liked these nappies. They are slim, cute little design so don't look like a budget range. They are soft and seem to fit well. They have lasted well over night 10 hrs and quite good at keeping in my son's ebf exploding poop. To date they have stood up to my hubby heavy hand tab pulling too!

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes I would these definitely hold their own against the more premium brands and at a fraction of the cost.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

Yes definitely, was so glad we had this opportunity to test. We have a new store opening up so wanted to see what Lidl products were like as it is a bit of a drive. However if these are anything to go by the drive will be worth it!

Zampa · 05/01/2018 09:43

1) How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
Baby is 6 weeks old and we tested newborn.

2) What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
Liked: the packaging. The font and colours are fun and cool and remind me of the Little Bird range in Mothercare. Very slim nappies and not bulky. Fitted lo well. Kept her bottom super dry and lasted overnight.
Disliked: Nothing!

3) Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Definitely. Cheap and effective.

4) Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?
No - only because we're a 30 minute drive to a Lidl store yet 5 minutes to Aldi/Asda/Tesco/Sainsbury's.

SleeplessInPT · 05/01/2018 10:36
  1. 13 weeks and size 3
  1. The material used in these new nappies are softer and have a nicer feel than some other own brand nappies. The design is also really child friendly. I do feel however that the this size could still benefit from a wetness indicator.
  1. I would definitely recommend these nappies if they came up in conversation. I also have several friends due in the coming months and I will also recommend it to them without prompt.
  1. I would definitely buy these going forward as the price point is really attractive and it’s another component of my weekly shop that I can get from Lidl.
Maffy · 05/01/2018 11:02
  1. LO is 2yo and we tested 5+ size.

  2. Loved the nappies, especially the price, which I find is the main consideration as long as they work! They were soft, efficient and my LO liked the cartoon design (his main consideration...)

  3. Yes, would happily recommend the nappies, and have already!

  4. Yes, shall buy Lidl Lupilu nappies again and often go out of my way, passing other supermarkets, to buy other great Lidl products.

Lofari · 05/01/2018 12:25

Child is 2, size 6+
I really like these nappies. They are thin and not bulky so are great for a toddler who isn't keen on keeping still. Fab design and they kept him dry. Would definitely recommend, and would definitely buy them myself.

byebyebeautiful · 05/01/2018 12:51
  1. My child is 2 years 7 months, we used size 6+

  2. I liked the design, they looked good and were a talking point with my daughter. They also felt nice and soft and were easy to put on, even though we normally use the pull-ups style nappies.
We did have one instance of leakage, however DP had put on the nappy on that occasion so I can't verify that it had been out on correctly Grin

  3. I would recommend, for the price they performed very well compared to our usual brand as well as the higher priced brands we have used in the past.

  4. I would buy these in the future, the price is good and they worked - can't ask for more than that really!

foxessocks · 05/01/2018 14:02
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use? Age 16 months size 5+
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? First impression was it felt very thin and lightweight, I was a little worried it wouldn't be very absorbant but they are fine. Nice pattern on the nappy, the tabs stay stuck well and they are a good fit, not bulky.
  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? Yes they are really good
  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why? Yes I would as long as the price is competetive which I'm sure it is
mama36 · 05/01/2018 15:04
  1. Baby is 8 weeks , size 1
  2. Like the absorbency and fit, good surprise for me as I wasn’t sure what to expect for this price. I think the material was a bit stiff for newborn
  3. I will ask friends to give it a go
  4. I will try them once baby is a bit older
Willowwisp23 · 05/01/2018 15:11

Age 5 months Size 2

Really liked these nappies. They fit well and I had no issue with absorbancy. Would certainly use again.

Would recommend. No negatives with these nappies for us.

Would buy these from now on. As well as being good nappies I'm sure the price is good too!
