This thread is for the 280 Mumsnetters who tested Lidl Lupilu Nappies with their DCs. If you're wondering where to get the best bargains for baby products, Mumsnetters' have picked out their favourite buys from the Lupilu range here

The following items were tested:
Size 1 Newborn Nappies 24 pack £1.09
Size 2 Newborn Mini Nappies 44 pack £2.19
Size 3 Midi (4-9kg) 56 pack £3.49
Size 4 Maxi (7-18kg) 50 pack £3.49
Size 4+ Maxi Plus Nappies (9-20kg) 44 pack £3.49
Size 5+ Junior Plus Nappies (13-27kg) 36 pack £3.09
Size 6+ Extra Large Plus Nappies (16+kg) 26 pack £3.29

Here’s what Lidl have to say about the product:
"Lidl knows the most important things when choosing a nappy are dryness, protection and comfort. That's why we ensure ultimate dryness and leakage protection, and last year Mumsnetters asked for a wetness indicator on size 1 Newborn Nappies, so we added one!”

“There is no need to pay a premium price for a premium nappy, our prices are low but our quality is high. Our nappies are dermatologically tested, latex free, skin-friendly and independently tested. Protecting the environment is also important, therefore the padding used is from sustainably managed forests. The slim design means less materials, less packaging and less energy, helping to minimise our carbon footprint.”

Below are some questions we’d like you to answer, but feel free to add any other comments you may have.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

All testers who leave their feedback on site and complete the short survey we sent to you will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 Love2Shop voucher!

Size tested was size 2 and DS is 10 weeks now...
These fitted my son perfectly! No leaks and are a good design! I liked that there wasn’t a horrible smell once the nappy was a bit wet... with other brand I have tried like pampers they smell awful!!!!...
I have already recommended to several friends
I have already been and stocked up on these! And in the next size as well, such amazing value for money! I can’t believe I was so skeptical!

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

25 months - size 5+

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Really impressed. Nice and thin - I hate bulky nappies as my DD is quite petite and they can be very uncomfortable for her.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

Yes as they are great value and perform well.

Barbie1 · 06/01/2018 23:26

Usually have to go miles out of my way to get to an Aldi as they are the only nappies that have suited my ds....until now

Size 5+ on a very small 3 year old (very reluctant potty user Blush)

Excellant fit, not bulky at all and stayed fitted on a very active boy!

No leaks, no horrid smells when wet (unlike pampers) and a pleasent design.

Will definitely be switching from Aldi and it makes life so much easier as I have a Lidl closer to me/

Win win!

Thanks for letting me test these!

Kokoko · 07/01/2018 07:29
  1. Nearly 3, 6+
  2. I was pleasantly surprised - they didn't leak, even overnight. My only reservation was that the tabs didn't seem as sticky/secure as my usual brand.
  3. Possibly, yes.
  4. If I found myself in Lidl I might do; however it's not a shop I usually visit.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

10 weeks, size 2 nappies.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

We got on well with them - they are thin but very absorbent - no night time leaks! They say 8 hours dry but went for longer :) they have an elasticated back and wetness indicator which both get a thumbs up for a little baby!

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes, definitely. Good product at a good price.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

Yes, I’m currently using Aldi nappies but would happily buy Lidl Lupilu nappies. They are very good quality and value.

TitusAndromedon · 07/01/2018 09:25
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
25 month old twin boys, size 6+

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
I liked the slim line of the nappies and the designs were cute. My boys liked them and enjoyed pointing out the different animals. I was pleased with the absorbency and we didn’t have any problems with leaks. I do wish that the tabs were stretchier, though, as I think that would make them more comfortable and certainly easier to put on.

  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
    Yes.

  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?
I wouldn’t make a special trip, but I would if I was going to Lidl for other reasons. They seem to be good value for money, but I prefer the convenience of being able to have my nappies delivered with my weekly shop.

ButterflyOfFreedom · 07/01/2018 09:32
  1. My DD is 3 and we tested size 6+
  1. I liked them. They seemed nice, soft & comfortable (no complaints from DD anyway!). They seemed absorbant and didn't leak at all so no complaints from me either!
  1. Yes I would recommend, can't think of a reason not to!
  1. Yes maybe. If they are reasonably priced and do as good a job as my current brand then why not?!

Thanks for letting me test Smile

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
Our son is 7.5 months old. We tried the size 3 midi Nappies.

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
I quite liked them. They had a cute pattern, were soft and slim. I wish that they had an elasticated back like Sainsburys nappies. This helps to contain any poosplosions better.

  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
No. At the moment there is nothing that makes these nappies any better than our usual nappies (Sainsburys). If they were to have the elastic back they may be better and would warrant a recommendation.

  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?
I would buy these in the future, but only.if we weren't able to get our usual as Sainsburys is more convenient.

Alannahpickaver · 07/01/2018 10:38

) How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
My son is 7 months old and we used a size 4 nappy.
2) What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
We really liked the nappies. They we thin and easy to put on. They were as absorbent as my usual leading brand. They provided good overnight protection as promised. We did a complete swap for the trial and didn't notice any difference. We also liked the pattern on the nappies.
3) Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Yes without a doubt. We were very impressed.
4) Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?
Yes I would buy them. We enjoyed using them and they offered the same protection as we would expect.

Thank you for letting us try them.

ArchieStar · 07/01/2018 16:26

1) How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

DD2 is 15 weeks old, we tested the size 3 nappies.

2) What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Really pleased with everything! Packaging is nice and secure, lovely designs on nappies, very easy to use and no leaks through the night which was a pleasant surprise as Lidl's original nappies were no good on DD1.

3) Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Definitely! Will be recommending to everyone that still uses nappies Smile

4) Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

Definitely, knowing lidl they are good value for money and will also be trying the pull ups when the time comes. Thank you for this opportunity to test them!

KadabrasSpoon · 07/01/2018 17:03
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
DD is 2 and we tested size 5+

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

DD liked the snowman design (still a bit Christmas obsessed!) and I thought they felt soft. No leaks or allergy so did the job and no complaints. Very impressed.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
    Yes they seem great value.

  2. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?
Would definitely buy these for reasons above. However we aren't too near a Lidl but will get some when we are.

newbieho · 07/01/2018 17:18

How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

The baby is 7.5 months old and we tested size 4+ nappies.

What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies?

Positive.

What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I like the ergonomic design and fit. The only thing I dislike is the volume - we've got plenty of leaks particularly overnight.

Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

I am not sure due to the leaks.

Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

I may give a bigger size (size 5) a try and see if it prevents those leaks.

nc060 · 07/01/2018 18:08
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

3 size 6
2) What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

They have been very good quality, haven't leaked once despite being worn overnight. They seem very comfortable on him and a good fit.
3) Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Yes definitely.
4) Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why? Yes, they are a reasonable price and equal quality to brand leaders

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use? Size 5 1/2 for a 20 month old boy.

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
We were pleasantly surprised. Really liked the fact they are not bulky, yet didnt leak. The elastic was very secure which was handy with a son who likes to try to undo it!

  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? Yes.

  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?
Yes, definitely. I can honestly say I have never been so impressed with a sample product. My partner says the same. These definitely give the 'market leader' a run for their money!.

tiramisualwaystiramisu · 07/01/2018 19:51
  1. 27 months, size 4
  2. I was impressed at how slim they were, but very absorbent. We've had a few big teething-related nappies recently and they seemed to have coped very well - no leaks so far! I normally use a size 5 with our normal brand (Pampers), but these seem to be sufficient
  3. Yes, definitely
  4. I would buy them for the toddler, little more wary about getting for DC2 (due to arrive in a few months), in case they can't cope with newborn!
ConfusedLlama · 07/01/2018 19:57
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
    9 weeks size 1

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
Very good value. The quality is very good although some minor aspects are not as good as leading brand. For example, the wet indicator isn't obvious when it's wet.

  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
    Yes

  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?
I would say yes, myself, as I think there isn't much in it between pampers and lupilu nappies. My DP, however, says no as he prefers the wet indicator and finds pampers easier to get on and off.

Ljgstorm · 07/01/2018 21:24
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

DD age 11 weeks. Size 2 nappies

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I am very impressed with these nappies. My dd has just recently moved onto size 2 nappies and the fit on these was perfect. The are very slim and do not feel bulky when on. With a very slim baby it has been difficult finding nappies that fit without leaking.
The slimmness of the nappies also means that the packaging is smaller which saves on storage space.
My dd is beginning to sleep for longer stretches at night and these nappies have worked well with no leaks.
My dd has been happy wearing these and they have caused no distress or irritation.
One issue we have noticed is the sticky tabs are difficult to release one handed when putting the nappy on a wiggling baby, but this isn't a major issue and wouldn't stop myself from using them again in the future.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes, these nappies are of good quality and great value for money.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

Yes! I am waiting for our local lidl to start stocking these in size 2 and 3 as they currently only have the old branded nappies in stock. The price of these nappies is very good.

AccrualIntentions · 07/01/2018 22:29
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use? 8 weeks, size 2.
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? Initially I was skeptical as they looked a similar shape to the Aldi nappies which we have had a lot of leaks with. They appeared thinner than the equivalent size of Pampers. I tested these on the night shift, so they had to cope with 8+ hours of urine - in the morning there had been no leaks and my baby's skin wasn't damp, so I was impressed. I liked the slim and non-bulky design, now that I'm confident absorbency hasn't been compromised. Didn't dislike anything in particular.
  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? Yes I would.
  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why? Yes I would. No leaks even after a long night, and a good price. I'm not near a Lidl but would ask someone else to pick up some packs for me!
AVT5 · 07/01/2018 22:33

How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
My son used size 3. He's 7 months old
2) What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
Like the feel of the nappy. Found every left sticky tab was open so not as sticky. Also my son got a little rash on his back where the nappy lays . He has never got anything like this with our usual tesco brand.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Probably not due to the rash

  2. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why? If I needed nappies and was at tesco I would but would stick to tesco brand as normal

letitgo1234 · 07/01/2018 23:25
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use? baby was 2 weeks old and used size 1

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? i really liked them they were very absorbent and didnt hurt my baby or giver her any rash, i would buy them giving an affordable price

  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? yeah i would as long as they were a good price.

  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why? yes i would i was happy with them and how absorbent they were.

FlyingFordAnglia · 07/01/2018 23:43
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use? 18 months size 5+
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? At first I thought they felt very thin, and perhaps not up to the job, especially night time, as DS2 wees ALOT during the night. However, we had no leaks at all, they fit really well, and actually were a nice slim line fit, not bulky at all.
  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? Yes definitely
  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why? Unfortunately, whilst I have a Lidl in the area, it’s not close enough for me to do a special trip just for nappies. I tend to buy nappies in town when I’m at work or the supermarket where I do my regular shop.
HumpHumpWhale · 08/01/2018 10:11
  1. 18 months, size 5+
  2. They're great. I thought they were very thin compared to Tesco nappies, which I've used previously, but actually they're probably more absorbent if anything. I also find they keep her skin drier and less rashy! She's got v sensitive skin and pampers are the only other ones I've tried which are as good on that front. So that's a big positive! 5+ is marginally too big though. I've since bought the 5s and they're perfect.
  3. I've already recommended them to friends.
  4. Yes, I've already bought more. They're good and SO cheap.
sarat1 · 08/01/2018 11:11
  1. 8 weeks at the time, size 1
  2. Immediately found that they were very soft, much more so than the Pampers brand currently used. They also folded out much easier. A good start. Overall a good fit, though a little smaller than Pampers. First nappy held up well when wet and dirty, but then second nappy leaked when wet and only on for an hour. It didn't seem to have the same level of absorption expected from a nappy. 3/4) Due to the leakage, I would not recommend to a friend if it came up in conversation, though I would want to try next size up in case it was simply an issue of a different fit to what used to.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

My DD is 15 months and we used the 4+ size

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

When I first opened them they felt quite 'plasticy' and I was concerned that they may not be as comfy as our usual brand (Nutmeg at Morrisons) but the nappies really surprised me. They are comfy, don't leak and fit securely. I am very impressed.

I don't think the packaging design is that great, feels a bit dated somehow.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes I would. I would recommend them above Aldi nappies which we have used in the past. They are great value and feel like a quality product.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why? Yes I would. Unfortunately our nearest Lidl store is a significant drive away so it will be a case of stocking up as we go past one but I wouldn't hesitate to buy the nappies. We would get more for our money (we currently get 114 for £10 so the Lidl nappies are cheaper)
