This thread is for the 280 Mumsnetters who tested Lidl Lupilu Nappies with their DCs. If you're wondering where to get the best bargains for baby products, Mumsnetters' have picked out their favourite buys from the Lupilu range here

The following items were tested:
Size 1 Newborn Nappies 24 pack £1.09
Size 2 Newborn Mini Nappies 44 pack £2.19
Size 3 Midi (4-9kg) 56 pack £3.49
Size 4 Maxi (7-18kg) 50 pack £3.49
Size 4+ Maxi Plus Nappies (9-20kg) 44 pack £3.49
Size 5+ Junior Plus Nappies (13-27kg) 36 pack £3.09
Size 6+ Extra Large Plus Nappies (16+kg) 26 pack £3.29

Here’s what Lidl have to say about the product:
"Lidl knows the most important things when choosing a nappy are dryness, protection and comfort. That's why we ensure ultimate dryness and leakage protection, and last year Mumsnetters asked for a wetness indicator on size 1 Newborn Nappies, so we added one!”

“There is no need to pay a premium price for a premium nappy, our prices are low but our quality is high. Our nappies are dermatologically tested, latex free, skin-friendly and independently tested. Protecting the environment is also important, therefore the padding used is from sustainably managed forests. The slim design means less materials, less packaging and less energy, helping to minimise our carbon footprint.”

Below are some questions we’d like you to answer, but feel free to add any other comments you may have.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

All testers who leave their feedback on site and complete the short survey we sent to you will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 Love2Shop voucher!

I was fortunate enough to test the Lidl nappies and based on the test i can gladly say that i have been converted. As a father of a very active two year old i have always looked for nappies that are hardy and can withstand my daughter.

  1. My Daughter is 2 years old and I tested the 5+ Junior plus size.

  2. I was really impressed with them, usually we have separate daytime and stronger/more absorbent ones for the evening, however I decided to try the Lidl ones at night time as a once off, I was surprised to find they didn’t leak at all, and there was no redness etc after night use. My daughter loved the patterns on them, I found them particular easy to put on as it clearly showed the front and back through the pictures on the nappies. After the trial I have decided to switch to the Lidl ones as it makes it a lot cheaper and easier to buy one brand than to buy two separate types which are more expensive.

  3. I would definitely recommend them and have already.

  4. I would definitely be switching over.

1) How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
I tested Size 4 Maxi on my 14 month old baby.

2) What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
I really like the Lidl Lupilu Nappies, they’re thin and feel comfortable. They're more like expensive Pampers nappies than the Sainsbury’s own brand ones. They’re also really well priced and we haven’t had any accidents. I found nothing to dislike!

3) Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
I would definitely recommend these nappies to a friend.

4) Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?
I will definitely buy these again. We switched to Lidl nappies after I tried them previously and I was worried when I saw they were changing them, but these new Lupilu nappies are only a bit softer, while retaining the same shape and absorbency.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
Overall very impressed. Good size. Didn't leak. Only thing I didn't like very much was the plasticky green fasteners.

  2. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
    Yes definitely.

  3. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?
I would if I would shop in Lidl yes.

1) How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
DD is 12 months, and we tested size 3 (yes, she's dinky!)

2) What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
I loved them. We usually only use disposable overnight as we use cloth nappies, and I thought these were great.

3) Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Yes, definitely

4) Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?
Only if I was shopping in Lidl, and as it's not my nearest store (too far to walk, in next town) it's unlikely. But if I had a store nearer, I definitely would

acsec · 09/01/2018 18:04
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
DD is 15 months and we tested size 5+

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
They are great - good quality, didn't sound and feel plasticy, didn't leak or feel really wet in the morning. DD loved the cat picture on them 'cat, cat!' Very excitedly every time a nappy with a cat was used!

  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
    I already have

  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?
I will definitely buy them again, they are half the price of the brand I usually buy and just as good!

Cheekyandfreaky · 09/01/2018 18:22

    10 weeks old and newborn/size 1

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
I liked the stretchy waistband and the wetness indicator. To be honest I couldn’t fault them.

  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
    Yes- great price too.

  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why? Yes they seem like a good product at a great price. I’m a Lidl shopper so it’s nice that I wouldn’t need to shop elsewhere to search for deals on the market leader.

MissisBee · 09/01/2018 19:43
  1. 8 months old, size 3
  2. really liked them - a good fit for my long, lean baby. Nice and soft, seem comfortable and no leaks during the period of use

StillNoFuckingEyeDeer · 09/01/2018 19:53
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use? DS is 19 months. We tested size 6+ I think I would try size 5 on him next time, but we found size 6 better than 5 with Sainsbury’s and pampers nappies.
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? Overall I liked them. They’re soft and not too bulky.
  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? Yes
  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why? Yes. They’re good value for money.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use? My son is 3 years old and we used size 5+
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? I liked the nappies especially the designs on them my son liked them very much. No leakage overnight but there is a much stronger urine smell compared to our normal brand
  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? Yes I would
  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why? Yes I would much cheaper than our current brand
PicklePantsx2 · 09/01/2018 20:40
  1. 7 months. Size 4.
  2. I REALLY like them. They are the best disposable nappies I have tried. They are soft, slim fitting, last all night and (if we remember to tuck out the frilly bits) even hold in bf poo! Although, this is yet to be tested out when baby is sitting/being held!
  3. Yes
  4. Yes, if there were a Lidl nearby.
bobgoblin · 09/01/2018 21:34
  1. I tested size 3 nappies on my 7 month old.

  2. They were very absorbent yet soft and not too bulky compared to other brands.

  3. I would definitely recommend them.

  4. Definitely - they are excellent quality and reasonably priced.

londonrach · 09/01/2018 21:47
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

My daughter is 17 months and we tested size 4+

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Ive tried lidl nappies before but drifted back to pampers due to an offer and over night use where i thought pampers were better. We tried the lidl nappies last night. Fixed great. Daughter was running around with the nappy on with no problem. No leakage over night. Not sure if its linked to teething or nappy but my daughter did wake an hour eariler than normal but was running around in her nappy with no leakage. Therefore they good for nightime use. Not really anything i dislike

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes i would they as good as pampers

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

I would buy them as i do most of my shopping in lidl. I buy lidl wipes but had recently returned to tesco for pampers (and sliced tiger bread as lidl one is unsliced). Impressed they the same as pampers and suspect they be cheaper

Thanks for letting me test them x

LeSquigh · 09/01/2018 21:52
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

8 months, size 3

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

They were not too bulky and they were nice and soft. They also don’t emit that horrible smell of wee that Pampers do after 5 minutes of being worn.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

I would use them again. I currently use Aldi nappies and like them very much although don’t like the design as much after size 2 when it changes. I have all supermarkets nearby but Aldi is slightly easier so will continue to use them however it is good to know there is now a decent back up option as I really dislike a lot of the other brands, especially Pampers which smell very quickly and Huggies which leak. I find Aldi sometimes go out of stock so would use these as an alternative.

LostInTheTriangle · 10/01/2018 11:08
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

3.5 weeks/size 1 (Newborn)

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Nice design, good absorbency, fitted well, no leaks, keenly priced.

There was nothing I disliked. It could be argued that they're not as soft as Pampers; but this might be as they're more eco friendly/sustainably produced?

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Definitely.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

Yes - if I had a Lidl closer to me. They're outstanding value for money and performance was as good as Pampers we usually buy. No leaks.

Stej7 · 10/01/2018 15:56
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

20 Months. Size 5+

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Really liked the design and the absorbance. The fit wasn't fantastic for our very long toddler, but we struggle with this on most other brands!! Didn't dislike anything else.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes definitely.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

In theory I would. I like the price, design and absorbance, but would have to make a special 20 mile round trip to the nearest Lidl to buy them unfortunately.

RFM3 · 10/01/2018 18:16
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use? Dd is 10 weeks old and we tested size 2
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? Love the nappies, I thought you couldn’t beat Aldi but I actually preferred these as they are slightly softer
  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? Definitely recommend and have done already
  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why? Yes I’m now going to switch to Lidl from Aldi

1)My Son is 22 months & we tried the size 6+ nappies.
2)I liked the feel of these nappies, didn't feel cheap or bulky. One did leak one night, but so do Pampers sometimes, depending how much my Son has had to drink.
3)Yes I would recommend to friends.
4)I would if I was shopping in Lidl, but unfortunately haven't got a store too close to my house.

doleritedinosaur · 10/01/2018 22:26

1) How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

My DS is 10 months old and these were 4+

2) What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

They felt a lot softer that any other brand I've come across, I liked the cartonny image and I felt as though this was a decent nappy. I didn't dislike anything.

3) Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes and in fact I have recommended the newborn ones.

4) Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

Yes as I liked the blue inside to show how wet they were, handy if you need to know if baby is dehydrated when ill. They fitted very well and no soreness on bum at all. I was very happy with this nappy and didn't even notice a difference from our normal brand.
The price as well is a key factor is making me want to buy them again.

frumpyheron · 11/01/2018 06:44
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

2 years 2 months - size 5+

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I was impressed! I thought they felt too think when I opened the pack but their absorbency was fantastic. We had one damp wake up but I realised he’d been in bed nearly 14 hours and I wouldn’t expect any nappy to keep going that long!! He also drinks masses and they handled being very damp really well.

Feeling thinner meant I could fit more in my bag which was great and my Mum even commented that my kid looked slimmer!

My main issue is the two designs in the pack. My kid loves to choose and he became very enamoured with the cat eating spaghetti which means we’re left trying to convince him that the penguins are just as good! With just one design he’s never made a fuss.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes - already have multiple times!

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

We’re expecting a second and spotted that the newborn size have damp indicator strips - definitely going to get those!

We’re almost at potty training so will be popping to Lidl to buy some nappy pants.

I thought the packs looked more expensive than our current brand but your big packs are excellent value.

My only hesitation is that my little boy has had a lot of nappy rash (which he doesn’t normally get) whilst we’ve been testing these. So I’m going to have to switch back to check if it’s the nappies or just him before we totally switch.

Phwoggy · 11/01/2018 08:38

My son is 16 months and we used size 4+

They felt good quality and had nice neutral designs on them

Yes I would recommend them- and I have

Yes - they are very good quality for the price

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use? We tried these nappies on my 3 year old and we used size 6+
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? We absolutely loved these nappies, they aren't chunky and they didn't seem to leave her with any rash or irritation. I also like how there is a lack of chemical smell that you get with some other brands. We only use nappies at bedtime but there was no leaks so big thumbs up!
  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

I absolutely would!

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

I would happily go out and purchase these nappies again, they are great value for money, they look good as well as absorb a good amount meaning that your little one gets a perfect night sleep. Should I have another child I will certainly consider using Lidl Lupilu nappies.

Loopyaboutmy2boys · 11/01/2018 12:31
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

She is 13 weeks, and we tested size 3
2) What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Mixed feelings. They were a lot better than I expected but not as good as pampers. I didn’t like the fasteners, the nappies felt soft but not as good as pampers and they were very thin and don’t think as absorbent as she got nappy rash whilst using them. She has been using pampers size 2 but because of her long legs we are about to love her to size 3, however the Lidl size 3 didn’t seem much different to the pampers size 2? But good when you compare the prices as much cheaper.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? I’d say they are definitely worth trying if people can’t afford pampers
  2. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why? Not sure, as I mostly shop online and Lidl don’t deliver

Yes definitely, have already recommended to a few mums.

4) Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?
