This thread is for the 280 Mumsnetters who tested Lidl Lupilu Nappies with their DCs. If you're wondering where to get the best bargains for baby products, Mumsnetters' have picked out their favourite buys from the Lupilu range here

The following items were tested:
Size 1 Newborn Nappies 24 pack £1.09
Size 2 Newborn Mini Nappies 44 pack £2.19
Size 3 Midi (4-9kg) 56 pack £3.49
Size 4 Maxi (7-18kg) 50 pack £3.49
Size 4+ Maxi Plus Nappies (9-20kg) 44 pack £3.49
Size 5+ Junior Plus Nappies (13-27kg) 36 pack £3.09
Size 6+ Extra Large Plus Nappies (16+kg) 26 pack £3.29

Here’s what Lidl have to say about the product:
"Lidl knows the most important things when choosing a nappy are dryness, protection and comfort. That's why we ensure ultimate dryness and leakage protection, and last year Mumsnetters asked for a wetness indicator on size 1 Newborn Nappies, so we added one!”

“There is no need to pay a premium price for a premium nappy, our prices are low but our quality is high. Our nappies are dermatologically tested, latex free, skin-friendly and independently tested. Protecting the environment is also important, therefore the padding used is from sustainably managed forests. The slim design means less materials, less packaging and less energy, helping to minimise our carbon footprint.”

Below are some questions we’d like you to answer, but feel free to add any other comments you may have.

  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

Girl/Boy Twins - 7.5months old - size 4

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

The Nappy does look and feel inferior to other brands. More paper like.
The inside is soft which is good.
I have tried a few brands of nappy in the past few months as my daughters always leaks!! So far these haven't leaked, we have used them for 24hours, there would be 2/3 leaks in that time.
The price is good and with two babies to buy for that is very appealing to me.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

Yes, the price is very appealing with twins to buy Nappies for.
It isn’t terribly convenient for me to get to Lidl but when I went past I think I would stock up!

1) How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
I tested size 4 Nappies on a fourteen month old baby.

2) What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
My overall impression was very positive. They are very soft to touch and feel lighter than pampers. We had no leakage at all even overnight.

3) Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Yes,definitely.

4) Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?
Yes, these are cheaper and better quality than our normal Pampers. I wish I had known about them 7years ago when my oldest was born! Additionally, my baby has always suffered from nappy rash, since using these it has cleared up completely for the first time (obviously maybe a coincidence but still!!).

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

My baby is 6 months old and I tested 4+ nappies.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Initial impression was they looked appealing. The nappies were very soft, probably the softest I've tried (and we've struggled through so many brands). I can imagine they're very cosy for babies. I liked the little patterns on them, although unsure if they had a wetness indicator on them?

They held content well. We have issues with leakages up the back, but this wasn't a problem on the occasions we tried Lidl nappies.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes, I would.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

Yes. Although I very rarely shop at Lidl, I don't think I would go out specifically just for nappies. Saying that, its got me wondering what else I might be missing, so I'm going to try Lidl more. I find the shops/parking a bit faffy and that puts me off, but I intend to send DH in for nappies if he's working near one.

SnugglySnerd · 05/01/2018 19:32

Tested on 9 month old twins. Size 4+.
I liked the design of the nappies and the fit and they haven't leaked.
I did liked the packaging.
Yes I would recommend and yes I would buy them. They are excellent value for money.

JudgeRulesNutterButter · 05/01/2018 19:47

Tried the size 4 on my DS, he is 23 months.

I liked the design and fit. They felt soft which is another big plus, I hate some of the harsh ones that feel like they're going to really chafe the child.

I didn't like the slimness of them- too thin and I didn't think they'd be absorbent enough- and they weren't. Fine in the daytime but they didn't last the night. (Tbf my DS does drink a lot at night.)

I'd buy or recommend them as daytime nappies definitely. Except that I can't be bothered to have a different set of nappies for day and for night, so unfortunately that means I wouldn't buy them.

I haven't read the whole thread but I seem to be in a minority not thinking that the thinness is a plus. I tend to think a bit of padding when they fall on their bottoms is no bad thing!

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use? 4 months old and size 3.
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? The nappies before use are so thin! I honestly thought they wouldn't hold anything at all because I just don't see how they could. However after using them for a few days, they're amazing. I really like the fit of them an they feel like they will fit my daughter for longer than other brands of the same size I'd used previously. The design was nice, they fit well and are easy to secure (the tabs don't peel up at the sides like some nappies) no dislikes.
  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? Definitely. Especially if looking for an overnight nappy.
  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why? Yes I probably will as they are one of the cheapest and I was really impressed with the quality.
ArcticMumkey · 06/01/2018 08:33
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

10 weeks, size 1
2) What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Have used Aldi and Asda nappies previously and these seemed very similar. Felt soft and fitted well on the legs. I liked the wetness indicator, elasticated back and the tabs.

Didn't seem as absorbent as other brands.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Maybe

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

No I don't think so. They leaked up the front (wet) after only 2 hours and I wouldn't want to risk using them overnight.

Stargirl84 · 06/01/2018 08:50
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

She is 12 months old. She wears size 3 nappies.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I liked the fact that they are slimline- this means I can fit more into the changing bag. They didn’t leak. There wasn’t anything I didn’t like about them.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes, I would.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

I would do as they are good value.

ArcticMumkey · 06/01/2018 09:14

@EmmaMumsnet I haven't received a survey via email yet?

Rumblemumble · 06/01/2018 10:38
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use? 20 months and size 4
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? was impressed and I didn’t think I would be! I liked the patterns on them, they were very slim and weren’t restrictive. My only criticism is I felt they balled if DS was running around
  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? yes, especially for the price
  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?yes, I felt they offered a good alternative to pampers for a fraction of the price
NutCase82 · 06/01/2018 12:33
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

15 weeks Size 3

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Very slim, at first I wondered if they’d be able to contain what my baby had to offer them! They held up to her rigorous testing process well.
The design is a standard cute and neutral design with little characters, which is nice.
The sticky bits to hold waist part are effective, and the sizing is ideal.
I like the wetness indicator on all sizes though, which size 3 doesn’t have.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes, I’d go out of my way to do so and also recommend them in posts on the internet where appropriate too.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

Yes, they are a necessity (even if a mother chooses a cloth option) they are so slim that they’re a must-have in my opinion, even if it’s just for the changing bag when out and about. I love them.

Julesni77 · 06/01/2018 13:42

I tested the size 6 on my boy girl twins and found them great not to thick and no leaks and believe me they were put to the test!

I think they are much better than the “leading brand” and excellent value for money

Nectarines · 06/01/2018 15:16
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

My son is two in a couple of weeks and tested 6+

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

They felt well made and the material was good quality. They didn’t leak. My son seemed comfortable in them.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

Yes I will but again if I’m in Lidl anyway. I wouldn’t go especially for them. I thought they were good, comfortable nappies.

vibecece · 06/01/2018 16:37
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

One month and I tested the newborn size 1 24 pack

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

These nappies feel soft and light. The absorption pad is quite good and have a different design to other nappies I have used.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes would recommend these nappies

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

Yes would definitely buy, amazing value as well 👍

Spideygirl77 · 06/01/2018 17:27

Child age 2 Years size 6+ nappies tested.

These nappies were great. They didn’t leak of a night or during the day while she is on the move. Have had leakage problems with another leading brand lately as she nears potty training the nappies seem to struggle with the volume all at once these did not. They had a really soft outer layer that didn’t seem a small papery as some other nappies can feel.

I would recommend these nappies without a doubt.

I will be buying these nappies again they were well worth the money and quality was excellent.

SassS1217 · 06/01/2018 17:53
  1. Newborn size for a 1 month old.
  1. Good overall impression. No noticeable difference to premium brands. Wetness indicator very useful and we liked the fit around the leg. Only slight negative is that they were too big for a 5lb 4oz baby, although the size states it would fit 4lb.
  1. We would recommend these nappies.
  1. We would definitely buy them, due to their cheaper cost and comparable quality.
MrsMotherHen · 06/01/2018 18:53
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

7 months size 3

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Nice packaging with handy carry handle along the side rather than the top.
A cute design on nappy front.
I liked how slimline these nappies were in comparison to our usual brand.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes and already have to a friend.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

Yes If i was doing some shopping in store I would I dont always go to lidl but when I do I will definitely grab some nappies aswell now. They are very cheap compared to leading brand and in my opinion alot better weve not had one leak at all.

Mummyh2016 · 06/01/2018 19:28
  1. 7 months, size 3 nappies.

  2. they felt and looked like a premium brand, they had a colourful design. I’ve used a mixture of nappies including the Lidl Toujours, Aldi, Asda, sainsburys, tesco and pampers. There have only been sainsburys nappies that have prevented around 90% of nappies leaking and been absorbent enough for night time. The Lidl lupilu nappies compare very well to the sainsburys nappies. We have had a leak so I can’t say they should have better however I don’t think it’s likely there is a nappy in the world that can contain all of my daughters bowel movements Blush no leaks at nighttime. They are quite long in length which suited my daughter perfectly. Sometimes I struggle with the sainsburys nappies to fasten them up.

  3. would definetely recommend these

  4. yes, as above they are one of only two brands that don’t leak ALL the time and are absorbent enough for nighttime. The length of them suits us much better.

Now when are they on sale so I can stock up Grin

Nigglenaggle · 06/01/2018 20:17

How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

My baby is 15 months old, and I used the 5+

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

The only thing I disliked was the pack wasn't as easy to open as some brands. To be honest we are fairly bonded to Pampers as a brand, but these were as good and much cheaper. The designs are absolutely lovely. I don't usually shop at Lidl but might make a detour for a bulk buy.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Absolutely

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

I think so. It's easier to get to Tesco than Lidl, but nappies are a major expense and these are very good value.

Nigglenaggle · 06/01/2018 20:19

Surely worth a Mumsnet rated stamp?

spethy31 · 06/01/2018 20:46

1) How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
Age 3.5 years, size 5 nappies. Only used overnight.

2) What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
Seemed excellent. Felt thinner than other nappies but lasted overnight perfectly fine. Our daughter also liked the varying colourful designs.

3) Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Definitely, yes.

4) Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?
In theory yes, although our daughter now prefers pull-ups and did object to wearing the nappies after a few days. Otherwise, price is good so I would be happy to buy instead of our normal brand if necessary.

TuckMyWin · 06/01/2018 20:49
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

16 months, size 4

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I liked the fact that they were lightweight but not stuff. No leaks so far.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

Possibly- don't tend to shop in Lidl, but would make a special trip if the range included pull ups.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

Baby is 6 weeks old, we tested size 2 nappies.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

At first I thought these were very good but as we've used them constantly I've found they have disagreed with my dd's bum. They are on the small side so have caused red marks on the back and the front. They are quite tight despite dd being on the smaller end. We have had to use nappy cream at every change, we've had to stop using this product. They are very absorbant which is good but not for us.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes, as despite not being good for is, I do believe all parents should try different brands of nappies to see which suits them best.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

No. As described above they are not suitable for us.

DameBaggySmith · 06/01/2018 21:49
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

DC is 6 months and we tried Size 3

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Overall I had a good impression of these nappies. I thought the package branding was quite basic looking however the actual nappy appearance was good with a nice design. So far we’ve had no leaks and they seem to do well overnight. The slim design is good.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes I would as they have coped well so far.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?

Yes I would as they are as good as my current brand.
