JimJams asked us to find 250 Mumsnetters to test their hazelnut chocolate spread. Each lucky tester was sent one 350g jar of the low sugar spread to share with their families, spread on toast and eat with a spoon. Read the comments below to find out what they thought!

Here’s what JimJams co-founder, Kellie Bath, has to say about the 83% Less Sugar Hazelnut Chocolate Spread: "As a mum, I was shocked at the amount of sugar found in most chocolate spreads (the equivalent of 57 sugar cubes per 400g jar). I decided to create a range of spreads that tasted amazing but with a fraction of the sugar (83% less sugar than leading brands!).

Our chocolate spreads are available in hazelnut and milk chocolate varieties. They have won Great Taste Awards, are kinder to teeth and are gluten free.

We use Maltitol to sweeten our spreads which is derived from a natural source (not artificial). It has nearly half of the calories than sugar, is kinder on teeth and diabetic friendly.

The tiny amount of palm oil used (one third palm to two thirds rapeseed) is fully sustainable and certified by the RSPO."

Yes: we normally buy either Nutella or own brands, but we thought this was especially nutty and delicious.

Yes, definitely - although I'm always a little uncertain about too much artificial sweeteners too. I'm more swayed by the sustainable palm oil - both my kids have covered this issue at school and we'd actually stopped buying chocolate spreads because of the palm oil issue.

Yes we all really enjoyed it. My husband is very fussy about his chocolate and hazelnut spread and was very reluctant to try it but once he did was fighting the kids for it!!!

Yes we loved it! My daughter is 5 and has never had chocolate spread before and she absolutely loved it on her sandwiches. However it did taste much better when eaten with a spoon whilst hiding in the larder cupboard having a break from said 5 year old, the newborn and DP!!

Yes, I feel much better about using it knowing it has much less sugar in it. I feel much more inclined to buy more when this jar runs out.

I was a bit sceptical at first, I thought it may have quite a bitter taste and not be as sweet as other brands due to the lower quantity of sugar. However, we were greatly surprised and found it tasted very sweet and hazel-nutty. We also thought it tasted much nicer and much less sickly sweet than another well known brand.

Yes because it tastes much better than my previous one and its less sugar.

2. I don't think the reduction in sugar will make us more likely to purchase it. We generally buy 1 - 2 jars of chocolate spread a year (family of 4) and so our consumption is not that much that we should worry about the amount of sugar. All things in moderation. I also think that sweeteners (even natural) are not necessarily that much better for us, so again, all things in moderation.
3. The airiness of the texture which was not so dissimilar to marshmallows. Most chocolate spread is quite dense but I suppose this is due to the absence of sugar and introduction of sweetener.
4. I would probably buy it again if on offer based on the taste alone.
5. We'd happily try white chocolate spread and would also like to try things such as pistachio, chocolate and grape and chocolate orange.
6. We don't have a usual brand. We just buy what's on offer so if it's on offer then yes we'd buy it.

Hello everyone, got ours yesterday.
Tester is a very picky 9 yr old Nutella freak. Will accept no substitutes usually!
Anyway, our review...

Myself and the kids genuinely enjoyed the taste. Even Nutella freak was very happy with the taste. "11/10" was his opinion!

I would be far more likely to get it, as long as the price was reasonable.

1.the kids absolutely loved it tastes no different to nutella.
2 as I don't give chocolate spread regularly to the kids this makes me feel more comfortable them having it.
3 omg how easy yo spread you don't end up with a lump of chocolate in the middle of the bread,then try to spread it but just end up with holes in your bread.

I was delighted to test out JimJams as we love rival brand Nutella in our house but I am very concerned about the sugar content so to try something with such a massive reduction in sugar made me very Happy! We adored the taste and in fact we were very pleasantly surprised by it as it tasted no different to Nutella! I would actually say it tasted better! I would not hesitate to buy this again as it's better for my family with the same great taste ! It would be fantastic to see other flavours like white chocolate, coconut and even honeycomb! I would have a whole cupboard full! We liked it on toast and to dip breadsticks in. A lovely guilt free treat I will enjoy over and over again! Here's a pic of my little boy enjoying his JimJams on toast ! Okay well I never promised it wouldn't be a messy treat did I?!
