Savsé has asked us to find 500 Mumsnetters to test their brand new range of cold-pressed baby food, My First Savsé. This product test is open to MNers with a child over 6 months of age.

Here’s what Guka, the founder of Savsé has to say: “When we looked at manufactured baby food, we realised babies weren’t getting the nutrients they deserved. Refusing to feed my own child pasteurised product, I wanted to push boundaries and create the freshest baby food possible. After all, real food isn’t just for adults.

This is why we created My First Savsé – Europe’s first cold-pressed, HPP baby food that’s as good as homemade. Unlike heat pasteurised baby food – which experiences a shocking 40% reduction in nutritional value* – with My First Savsé the nutritional value of our 100% Organic, Grade A fruit and veg is never compromised.

*Source: Fruselva Laboratories, July 2017 (tests carried out vs. heat pasteurised competitor x)”

Also from My First Savsé: “By cold-pressing our fruit and veg we don’t strip the goodness, replacing heat pasteurisation in favour of non-thermal High Pressure Processing (HPP) to ensure all vital nutrients are locked into each pouch, removing any nasties without compromising on taste or quality.

A busy parent will have to make a million compromises on a daily basis, but quality nutrition for their baby should never be one of them. However, with 1 in 4 parents unable to prepare homemade baby food due to work pressures, many have been forced to rely on heat pasteurised options bought in-store, with a sell by date often older than the babies themselves! But compromise no more. Our brand new cold-pressed baby food range, My First Savsé, has solved the problem - because babies deserve real food too.

Unlike heat pasteurised baby food, you won’t find My First Savsé in the baby aisle - oh no. You’ll find it in the chiller, alongside all the other fresh products!”

Find out more about the products here, or visit My First Savsé on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram @myfirstsavse #myfirstsavse

If selected, you’ll receive the full range of 7 flavours and will need to test the product with your child as a part of your normal routine, and provide your feedback by posting on a thread on Mumsnet. We’d also love to see a photo of your baby trying the food.
All selected testers who complete the required feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

Justine this is the only email I have received from you guys about this product test. I have checked my spam. I got it yesterday and have binned the lentil one. Where do we do the feedback?

Hi,
Thanks for applying to test My First Savsé - as you know, you either will have received the products today or will do tomorrow.
Unfortunately it has come to our attention that due to a supply chain issue, one of the seven products is past it's best before date. The product is "lentils, sweet potato carrot and apple". If your child has already consumed this there's no need to worry as it's still within the safe range, but we would recommend that you discard this if this isn't the case.
My First Savsé hope to be sending this product out to you all again soon and we'll update you on this asap.
Many thanks,
Mumsnet Insight Team

Same here. I'm assuming we post our feedback on this thread? How detailed does the feedback need to be? Thanks.

wineandcheeseplease · 28/07/2017 21:13

Mine were left on my doorstep in the sun. No dry ice just a foil bag... binned the out of date one too. Not a good start. Where is the feedback thread

Unihorn · 28/07/2017 21:38

The feedback thread normally appears a few days later when people have had a chance to use them all doesn't it?

So we have tried our first one, I have posted a review video on YouTube. For the first mouthful of all the other pouches I am going to Do in one big video with my final review. Come take a look

StealthPolarBear · 29/07/2017 08:07

I'm sure savse would be interested to know they're a cottage industry and are made in batches of 92 per hour in someone's front room :)

I was interested to try this as my baby is nearly 8 months old but I am concerned about them sending out out date food. Have they stopped doing that?

Shropitlikeitshot · 29/07/2017 18:38

A hit here.

hanliying · 29/07/2017 23:49

I cannot believe that the pouch is so yummy that my daughter absolutely loves it! I gave it a try myself and have to admit it tastes much better than the non fridge pouch i normally buy. Would definitely switch to My First Savsé if it is convenient to buy from major supermarket

StealthPolarBear · 30/07/2017 07:48

Cute photos on this thread :o

YoungGirlGrowingOld · 30/07/2017 08:29

We went with the coconut, cacao, apple and banana this morning and it went down very well. This is the first time ever that my nearly 8 month old has scoffed a whole sachet in one meal. That might be because cacao is the closest he has ever come to chocolate! Going to try the beetroot one this evening.

Interested to see that the name of the product does not really correspond to the list of ingredients. The main ingredient to this sachet is actually apple, then banana...it's only 0.8% cacao. But calling it "coconut, cacao apple and banana" makes it sound more unusual and exotic, I suppose. I am probably over-thinking this, but Ella's does the same and it annoys me...! Grin

whenyouwish · 30/07/2017 09:03

We've tried a few now and he's wolfed them all. The beetroot was possibly his least favourite but he still finished it!
He had the prune one yesterday mixed in with his readybrek and the nappies he's had so far today have been explosive! Not sure if this is a prune side effect!
He had apple for breakfast which I tasted and it tasted lovely!
Only a couple more pouches to go, but I usually mix them in with porridge or use pouches with puréed meat to make a meal and as these 2 pouches are mainly sweet but with cucumber and spinach in I can't work out whether to mix with porridge or meat!!!

YoungGirlGrowingOld · 30/07/2017 11:31

Same here with my 8 month old when - we had to leave softplay early because of the poonami....

Oliack1417 · 30/07/2017 13:28

Would love to try these products - my son is 6 months so we are just starting to wean! The concept sounds fab.

ElizabethShaw · 30/07/2017 14:42

I'm a bit confused about these - they are 'fresh' and need to be refrigerated, but can be sent through the post and left out in the sun and eaten 10 days past their use by date? And last months in the fridge?

Unihorn · 30/07/2017 16:00

The packaging says they can last 12 hours out of the fridge. They were delivered by courier so I don't think they are intended to be left out in the sun though. I assume they are similar to the "fresh" filled pasta and the Little Dish Go Go pots which have best before dates a bit longer than just a few days. The process used to preserve it is just an alternative to others, such as using heat, so it still gives the food a one month to two month shelf life.

SolomanDaisy · 30/07/2017 18:27

I don't understand what the process is. There's no way I'm comfortable giving my baby something that's supposed to be fresh but is ok ten days past its sell by date, which is several months anyway. I thought cold pressed meant mashed, but its obviously something else. What actually happens to the food to make it last so long?

Unihorn · 30/07/2017 18:41

www.hiperbaric.com/en/high-pressure

It's just a different way of preserving food that keeps more of the taste than other ways. There are multiple ways to preserve food but using heat is the most common way as it kills more bacteria and is cheaper.

It's a best before date not a use by date so it can be eaten after the date, but may not be as tasty and will eventually start to spoil like all other food.

ElizabethShaw · 30/07/2017 19:07

Interesting. So does it actually need to be kept in the fridge or is it a bit like Sunny Delight (remember that children of the 90s?) where the "keep refrigerated" instruction is just marketing meant to give an impression of freshness?

IndianaMoleWoman · 30/07/2017 19:23

Just came on to ask about poos! DD has produced three whoppers today after having two of these pouches per day for the last three days (she has porridge and a gnaw on some toast for breakfast). I guess it's just because she's actually eating so much more than usual because she enjoys them so much. Great to find something she really enjoys, despite the side effects in her nappies!

Unihorn · 30/07/2017 19:40

Ah yes possibly Elizabeth I do miss proper Sunny D.

It's interesting that people have said about nappies as my daughter suffers with chronic constipation and this has had no effect on her. I was really hoping we'd finally found a solution.

thisreallifedad · 31/07/2017 13:21

The 7 pouches arrived fresh in a dry ice cool bag just the other day, thankfully none were past their best by date. We placed them all in the fridge and so far have tried 3 all straight from the fridge, although I know you can heat in warm water should you wish to. My 6 month son Arran has absolutely loved every flavour he's tried so far. Can't believe that they're made from 100% natural flavours and there's also a fantastic variety of flavours to choose from. Thumbs up all round from us. 👍

I've sent 3 emails and a pm to say I've had the email about being chosen and the out of date pouch, but still no food. No one has replied.

80sbabi07 · 01/08/2017 22:07

I was really excited to read about My First Savsé baby food; The opportunity to give my baby boy organic food that was also really convenient..but most impressively..fresh and not pasteurised. Being back at work full time, the 'I'll only feed my baby meals from scratch' motto has gone out the window a bit. I do some weekend batch cooking & I'll serenade a fresh veg combi in the baby blender a few times during the week too. We are trying to get him to eat what we do, but it's not always easy and I do rely on shop bought too! Opening my pack (thank you by the way) I liked the quality feel to the packaging, no sharp edges and a sturdy feel cap that makes the pouch re-sealable. The fruit and veg combinations are a brilliant match for varying tastes. My baby boy loves his fruit pouches anyway but he really enjoyed these ( refusing to let go and draining two in one sitting gave it away lol) He especially liked the Cucumber, Kiwi, Kale, Spinach, Apple & Banana pouch ( as you can see) I really love the fact that being cold pressed this food retains all the essential nutrients and vitamins but also combines a wide variety of fruits and veggies like Kale and Kiwi, that I have previously struggled to integrate into his diet. We are definitely new fans of My First Savse and as a parent, I'm pleased to see this new development in the baby food market that sets this high standard!
