Mind Candy asked us to recruit MNers with at least one DC aged 5-8 to test their new subscription service, containing fun Moshi-themed activities and games. The boxes work in conjunction with the Moshi Egg Hunt Mobile Game, which can be downloaded for free on iOS and Android. Selected testers were sent a letter from Moshlingologist Buster Bumblechops, enlisting their DCs to help in a quest to retrieve a special stolen egg. This was then followed up by the first in a series of Mystery Boxes, containing crafts and activities.

Here’s what Mind Candy have said about the product: ‘The experience begins when your DC receives an exciting personalised letter in the post, in which Buster Bumblechops explains that a very special Moshling egg has been stolen and that he’ll soon be sending a Moshi Mystery Box, jam-packed with clues, activities and missions. The first box contains fun art and craft activities, Moshi collectables, a comic strip, jokes and much more. And if you decide to sign up, there will be two more Moshi Mystery Boxes to follow.

A simple story runs across all three boxes, taking your child on a quest across Monstro City. Each box is also themed - box one is the Frostipop Glacier, two is Potion Ocean and three is all about the Gombala Gombala Jungle! The first box will also contain a pack of trading cards that can be scanned to unlock exclusive characters in the 100% free Moshi Monsters Egg Hunt Mobile Game!’

Testers - if you’ve been sent your mystery box, please leave your feedback on the thread below to be entered into a prize draw for a £300 voucher of your choice (from a list).

Here are the questions Mind Candy would like you to answer:

  • What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?
  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?
- Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?
  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?
  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?
  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?
  • How do you think the experience could be improved?

Thanks for taking part and good luck with the prize draw.

What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?

She opened everything and tipped it all over the floor, lots of excitement. She was very pleased with it all. Loved the little monsters.

  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?

The unicorn monster has been a big hit. It's in a safe place in the bedroom. I'm terrified it's going to get hoovered up it's so small. The balloon activity was really good and we froze two balloons and did one each day of the weekend. That was a wonderful activity on a hot weekend. Spent ages experimenting with salt and warm water. We needed loads of salt in the end!

  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?

Yes, I downloaded it. It was ok for a while, but we couldn't work out what we were meant to be doing really. Exciting looking for the egg and making it hatch, but she hasn't asked to play it again.

  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?

I think it's expensive for what you actually get. I would think £5 would be a better price. If you want to charge £9.99, it needs another activity and or more monsters.

  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?

Loved the personalised letter and the box. But I found it all a bit random. Two paper bags of bits that I had but back together after the initial excitement where they went everywhere all over the floor. I would have liked clearer instructions for the activities. I thought the salt went in the water. We did work it out in the end.

We didn't get the link between the missing egg in the letter and the box. Yes, it was on the comic strip, but I thought there would be more activities based around the mystery.

  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?

Not very likely. I would if it was £9.99 or the two boxes, but they are too expensive for what they are. However DC are convinced Bumblechops is going to send more as he's said so in his letter. Not sure how I'm going to handle that.

  • How do you think the experience could be improved?

Faster delivery between the letter and the box. She was quite concerned that the box hadn't arrived. Also clearer instructions in the box for parents. Less bits of paper and more substance.

Thank you for the chance to test this product. I do think it's a great idea, and with a lower price or better contents it will be really good.

Here are the questions Mind Candy would like you to answer:

  • What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?
They were really cool cited to get the letter in the post addressed to them and eagerly anticipated the box coming!
  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?
Like the arts and crafts element but obviously this part is short lived
  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?
No I didn't
  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?
To be honest I think that is quite high, like most subscription boxes the price is what puts me off especially as I have 3 children all wanting something fmdiffrtebt. I don't think there is enough content to warrant £10 on 1 box
  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?
I thought the personalisation was great dd loved that it was addressed to her and the letter coming first to get them waiting is a good thing but i feel the price is a massive draw back for me for the actual content
  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?
Very unlikely
  • How do you think the experience could be improved?
More value for money for what the box contains or lower the price

  • What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?
When my DS received his letter he couldn't wait to open it he was really excited. The box arrived today and he rushed to show his dad and his Dsis before opening it all up.
  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?
His favourite items were the moshi figures, his Dsis have collected moshi monsters in the past so are a little bit jealous he got this lovely bundle. He also loved the way everything was wrapped and enjoyed opening them all to see what he'd got. As it is so hot today one of the figures is already in the freezer.
  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?
Yes as soon as my DS had scratched the cards I needed to download the game for him. He is still exploring but he is enjoying it.
  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?
Although my DS really enjoyed receiving this bundle in the post, I think that is a little bit expensive.
  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?
He loved it! He loved the presentation, the surprise in the post and he enjoyed unwrapping all the goodies.
  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?
I would like to buy this for him as he really enjoyed it but at the suggested price I would perhaps buy as a treat but not a regular thing.
  • How do you think the experience could be improved?
My DS is five so it was all fun for him, I didn't tell him a bundle was on the way which I'm pleased about as it was a really nice surprise for him today and I didn't have any nagging. The experience was great but maybe lower the suggested price a little bit.
LastMangoInPeckham · 19/06/2017 19:11

My DS loved getting the letter! I then had him and his older brother terribly excited waiting for the box. "We've got to find the rarest eggs!"

He showed the letter to anyone he could and the anticipation of waiting for the box was the source of much conversation in our house.

When the box arrived, DS was thrilled to bits and both boys tore into it with great gusto.

So far he has enjoyed filling the balloon and freezing it.

Unfortunately, much of the other stuff in the box is fairly similar to the generic kids stuff you find in happy meals / kid packs in restaurants/ travelling. It hasn't therefore captured his attention as I would have hoped.

I think it was also a little confusing for him (he's 6.5) He was really excited about helping to find a rare egg, but this narrative has been diluted by all the different activities in the box. I almost feel that something simpler would have been more magical and sustained the sense of adventure.

I am not sure if this is a factor, but he wasn't already a Moshi fan (just wasn't on his radar) perhaps if he was, he would have engaged for longer.

We won't continue with a subscription.

Thanks for selecting us, both boys are still amazed that bumblechops chose DS2 to help him and this alone has been great fun!!

asuwere · 19/06/2017 19:15

- What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?
I hadn't told DD (7) about doing this so she was very excited by the letter - she took it to school for a show and tell! She talked all week about her parcel she was due and was thrilled when it arrived.

- Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?
her favourite thing was actually the pipette and yes, she is still playing with it! She did actually like both the activities, although was very impatient waiting for the ice egg to freeze!

- Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?
Yes, we did and she enjoyed it. She scanned all the cards which she enjoyed and she has played on it since but not for long.

- These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?
It seems very expensive. Especially as they come this one is 1 of 3 so to unlock the full code for the game it would cost £27.98 which is a lot.

- What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?
DD did like having it addressed to her and made her feel very special. The box was fun but a bit disorganised and I think the hunt for the missing egg was a bit lost.

- How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?
Definitely won't be continuing, far too expensive.

- How do you think the experience could be improved?
I really liked the little packs for the tasks but would be good if the instruction sheet was inside the pack to make it clearer what goes with what. Also maybe a sheet with the box to explain what to do first so there is some order. Far too easy to rip the box open and for bits to get lost.

Overall DD loved it and I'm glad we got to try it. I think as a one off treat, it's good (at a lower price) but don't like the series idea of it - by the 3rd box, DD would be getting bored of the stolen egg story I think.

Thanks for choosing us!

Vonklump · 19/06/2017 19:22

What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?

They were very excited with the box, less so with the letter.
When they opened the box they re read both letters, went through all the contentsthen did the wordsearch.

  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?
They especially liked the scratch cards.
  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?
Received the box on Saturday. Not downloaded it yet. I will do and feed back.
  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?

Probably dearer than I would pay.

  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?
The six year old was unbothered that it was personalised. His older sister loved it and was very envious.
  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?
Not.
  • How do you think the experience could be improved?
Closer time between letter and box. He lost interest between the two.
Fairypantz · 19/06/2017 19:23

What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?
Quite excited by the initial letter and managed to read it on his own (age 6) but quickly forgot about it until the box arrived the following week. The box was immediately opened and bits scattered around the room.

Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?
The cards and yes, still being played with

Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?
Yes we did download the game which he's really enjoying and going back to every day. Also enjoyed the fact that we could scan the cards and get extra moshlings and Rox.

These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?
Too expensive. My son isn't interested in the craft stuff and it would be a lot for a couple of extra cards, a moshi and some comic strips.

What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?
Relatively excited but I think it was just the fact that something cam through the post addressed to him. He gets as excited by his free lego magazine.

How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?
Unlikely. He has shown no interest in the egg hunt.

How do you think the experience could be improved?
No need for the initial letter as the box arrives too long after it.
Comic strips and craft ideas could easily be made available online via the app.
It would be better if you could close the box again rather than it collapsing apart.

lillyfer · 19/06/2017 19:28
  • What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?

We read the letter and she opened the collector cards. We had a look at the activities and decided we would do them later as one of the paint packets had opened and was covering the contents of one of the bags.

  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?

My daughter loves the app, she liked the cards you could scan to get Moshi monsters and extra bits for the games.

  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?

Yes the game is currently her new favourite. She loves all the mini games and hatching new moshlings.

  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?

Whilst she did enjoy the box I think this is way overpriced, even with the multi buy discount.

  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?

Great! She loved the letter and was really excited to get the box. She was asking every day when it would arrive.

  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?

Not at the current price.

  • How do you think the experience could be improved?

More guidance over what to do with the box contents. Some clearer info about the app, the little corner on the letter was easy to miss.

heymammy · 19/06/2017 19:31

What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?

Ds was super excited when he received his letter and was counting down the days to get his box. It also inspired him to play Moshi Monsters on the PC!

  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?

Ds LOVED freezing the Moshlings in the balloons and seeting them free. He happily played with this for about an hour, in fact I had to get more salt from the cupboard! We've had the box a few days now and he's not completed the other craft thing though.

  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?

Yes he wanted the game downloaded and is still playing it. We scanned all the free gifts from the trading cards so he was chuffed to get them. Easy to use app for a 5yr old.

  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?

Far to dear I'm afraid. I'd pay £5 per box.

  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?

Ds was very excited to get post addressed to him. The design of the letter and box is very appealing. One thing I found with ds though is that he wasn't remotely interested/didn't get the detail/wording of the 'story' in the letter, I think maybe he is just a bit to young to understand.

  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?

Not a chance at that price.

  • How do you think the experience could be improved?

My son thought he was going to get actual clues to look for in real life so the fact that is just a printed code on the letter was a disappointment. Something where he could have 'revealed' the code with water paints maybe or searched for clues on the website maybe would have been better.

buddles · 19/06/2017 19:32

My DS was very excited when he got his letter - but that was at least 2 weeks ago and we've not had our box yet Sad

heymammy · 19/06/2017 19:33

I forgot to add the picture of ds rescuing the Moshlings!

ginsoakedgirl · 19/06/2017 19:44
  • What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box? They received the letter about ten days ago and were thrilled. They love to receive post and so this made their day. They were so excited to receive the follow on box and asked about it every day. The box arrived today - they were extremely happy to receive it, however they did get fed up waiting for it to come and drove me a little crazy asking about it constantly!
  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it? As they have only had the box a couple of hours, they are still discovering the contents and have not carried out the activities yet. Teh ydo love the little figures in particular though.
  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it? We have not downloaded the app yet. They did not seem very interested when i mentioned it.
  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price? I felt that the contents were similar to those found in a comic so I feel that a price closer to £5 would be more reasonable.
  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation? They really liked the fact that they received the items through the post, and like the colourful packaging and items. My younger daughter is expecting to find a real egg at the end of the experience though...
  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series? It's a nice idea, but if anything I think I would consider taking out a subscription to a comic for them both to receive through the post.
  • How do you think the experience could be improved? A price more in line with a comic, a faster delivery time between packages (or at least within the timeframe mentioned in the text).
ButtonMooooon · 19/06/2017 19:51

- What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?
I read the letter to him and he immediately started hunting for clues. Explained he had to wait for the box which then took 8 days to arrive. He was very excited when it did and knew immediately from the packaging what it was

- Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with i
The moshlings and yes still playing with them

- Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?
Yes and he loved it but he does like electronics

- These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?
Far too expensive in line with what was in first box. If we could find out contents of future boxes I may consider it

- What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?
He loved receiving post just for him
- How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?
As above, it depends on if I knew what was in the box as I can't really justify £20 when essentially all that was in the first box was some balloons, moshlings and paper

- How do you think the experience could be improved?
It needs to have a serious price review and possibly clear instructions for parents as DS just tore everything open. I only even realised about the ice activity from the feedback on the other thread

BeyondOfbob · 19/06/2017 19:57

Just marking my place to remind me to do it!

EmmyInTheSticks · 19/06/2017 19:59

Here are the questions Mind Candy would like you to answer:

  • What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?

When letter was received DD was excited to receive a personally addressed letter. She wanted me to read it out and was very taken with the idea of being on a 'mission' and was looking forward to when the box arrived. I felt the box arrived a bit too late and interest and momentum had waned a bit. She was never the less excited to see the box and opened it straight away.

  • Which was their favorite item from the box and are they still playing with it?

The small plastic monster figures have been played with over the last few days since arrival.

  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?
We did but DD was not too interested in it.
  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?

I think I would want a bit more content to be tempted to buy. The cards didn't interest us but the tasks/craft activities did. The ice egg one was very good but the painting one quite dull. If it had had 3 good tasks on par with the egg one plus two more little monster I think I would have bought for the the £17.99 price but I felt it was just a little lacking in content.

  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?

Personalisation was important and made it more exciting and special.

  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?

No I won't as I feel it needs more content to ask that price. I would value it at £4.99 presently and would be willingly to pay that.

  • How do you think the experience could be improved?

We enjoyed the crafts and felt there should have been two more activities of good quality. The frozen egg task was well thought out and something I had never done with the children. The painting task was quite ordinary and something we often do. I like the science aspect of the frozen egg one and would've like to see another one or two tasks included that were interesting and well thought out like that one.

Caillou · 19/06/2017 20:01
  • What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?

She had no idea that the letter was coming, so she was quite excited at the idea of it,
She loved how colourful the letter and box where.

  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?

She liked the activity of the frozen balloon, this is a good activity that I will do again with her.

  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?

No we didn't download the game

  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?

I think the price is ridiculously high for what it is, she won't be getting the next 2 boxes, but she doesn't seem bothered in the slightest.

  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?

She liked that the letter was addressed to her,
She liked the frozen egg activity, but hasn't even bothered with the rest, she looked at it when she received it but hasn't touched it since,

  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?

Definitely not paying for it,

  • How do you think the experience could be improved?

I think better activities, a little bit more interesting than just painting an egg on paper,

my daughter is 5, so even though she can read, no way she could have read that whole letter by herself, I think the letter should be shorter

I think the age range 5-8 may be too big, as the children's ability vary a lot between 5 and 8, so I think maybe a 5-6 simpler box and then a 7-8 box may be more appealing for all.

And also I think that the time between the letter and the box is slightly too long, dd had forgotten about it.
Only one activity was good but the rest was not worth it. Sorry

hldf123 · 19/06/2017 20:05
  • What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?
they were super excited about the letter, how did the moshis find her? was it because she was doing well at school? all ever so exciting! the week wait for the box was a long one but she was thrilled with it when it did arrive, special post just for her
  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?
she really liked the cards and had a fab time doing the activities she really liked making the eggs
  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?
eventually yes we did but had to get hold of another tablet to do so as she has a kindle and the app is only for apple and google play. she loves it though and was super excited to design her own moshi for the game
  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?
its pretty good the get a fair bit to do in it and the fact that it special 'magic' post just for her is nice
  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?
she really liked it
  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?
very
  • How do you think the experience could be improved?
quicker time between letter and box, as an adult I wouldn't really want to wait a whole week for a surprise, making app available for kindle
Pointeshoes · 19/06/2017 20:12
  • What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?

Ripped it open so it was all over the sofa - opened everything but didn't know what he was supposed to do with each thing - instructions were very poor and very chaotic.

  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?

He liked the balloons to fill with water and freeze. I think the actives could of been more interesting to be honest there didnt seem much point to them.

  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?

Yes and did a few cards but lost interest quickly and hasn't asked to go on it again - didn't seem to do much but maybe he's too old for it - he's nearly 7.

  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?

Far to expensive - I can buy proper toys for that much that would last longer and keep him entertained for longer.

  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?

He loved it and got very impatient waiting for it to come!!

  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?

Not a chance I thought it be £5 tops for a box.

  • How do you think the experience could be improved?

More interesting things to do - very unclear instructions too.

Faithless12 · 19/06/2017 20:17

-What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?
When the letter arrived he ran off to read it. When the box arrived he took out the letter and read it and then took everything out of the two bags.

  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?
The favourite thing was the mini moshilings and yes he is still playing with them
  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?
I've downloaded it and I've played with it. He hasn't seen it yet.
  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?
The price point is too high for the activities in there. We get the Toucan box and for less we get one full activity at least sometimes a bigger one and a little time waster type activity which is where I would put both of the activities received.
Faithless12 · 19/06/2017 20:20
  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?
He loved that he got a letter addressed to himself and even the stamp was a special stamp.
  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?
Not likely at the price. It's nice but as we already get other activity boxes it's not special enough and more expensive.
  • How do you think the experience could be improved?
The bags that the activities come in should be labelled with the activity it is for or have the instructions in the paper bag. DS tore through the paper bags before reading anything other than the letter and ended up asking what is this for.
lynnheath50716 · 19/06/2017 20:20
  • What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?

My son was so excited from the second the letter landed until the box arrived, everyday after school he was asking did the postman bring me my parcel!

  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?

His favourite part of the box was the ice experiment. It was a one time experiment from the box and I had no more balloons but when I get some I am sure he will want to do it again. He also enjoyed the wordsearch and the colouring sheets.

  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?

We didn't download the app, as I have done something that prevents me from adding anymore apps!!!!

  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?

Wow.... I had given some thought to the price of this box and I thought that £4.99 would be a much more appropiate level, this puts in on a par with kids magazines and would make me much more likely to subscribe. I would not pay £9.99 for the box we recieved.

  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?

My son loved the personalization of the boxes, he really felt like that he was trying to help solve a mystery. He enjoyed all aspects of the box and loved the little seperate bags with the tasks in.

  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?

I wont be subscribing - I think that £17.99 for the next two boxes is too expensive.

  • How do you think the experience could be improved?

I think that it could be more reasonably priced.

What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?

dd was very excited to get her letter then checked the post daily for her box. She jumped around whooping. She took her box to the table to start looking inside and inspecting everything.

Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?

She liked the little Moshi toys the most and still plays with them.

Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?

We downloaded the game but dd was only interested for a short time.

These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?

Agree with previous posters that it is too much, two for £9.99 would be more attractive.

What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?

Dd loved getting her own post, it was all very exciting for her. She liked having a few different things to do. She liked having her name written in the letters.

How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?

I would do at the cheaper prices I've mentioned but for one offs like school holidays. I won't continue the subscription at the current price.

How do you think the experience could be improved?

Parental instructions as took a while to work out what was what. A little extra (Moshi rubber, little notebook, pencil, poster) each time.

The ice activity was perfect for the weather we have been having. We looked at the pretty rivers being made and made salt crystals on the table by accident.

What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?

Mine has been told that a moshi box was coming so even the letter was greeted with great excitement and once the box arrived he was super happy! He carried it up to his room to open and spread the contents all over the bed, very excited at everything that was included.

- Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?

His fave item was the small moshi monster plastic figure, he loved this the best and was pleased it was one he hadn't seen before. It has been put with his other moshi monsters and will be played with I'm sure.

- Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?

We did actually before the box arrived as he was so excited and wanted to do something moshi related. It got uninstalled from Mummys phone as the file size was so huge it was hogging all the space but he liked the game a lot and wanted to continue with it. He'll probably download it to his tablet at some point.

- These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?

Very expensive, I was expecting the boxes to be slightly smaller (contain less stuff as well) and cost around £4 - £6 each. I definitely wouldn't buy a bundle or a single box, I prefer to have boxes on a subscription where the cost lowers the longer you sign up to subscribe for. £9.99 for a single box is outside of my budget, even as a one-off.

- What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?

He really liked it, and the personalisation was one of the coolest things about the experience. He said he enjoyed seeing his name in the letter etc.

- How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?

Not at all likely I'm afraid, although I would tell others about it if their children were moshi mad.

- How do you think the experience could be improved?

Lowering the price of the box or having a tiered subscription with a smaller cheaper box option. DS said that he didn't much appreciate the arts and crafts items 'as I'm not good at painting' and would have preferred two moshi figures rather than one instead.

Overall we really enjoyed the experience of receiving the box and it was very exciting for DS to finally get some post of his own!
