Mind Candy asked us to recruit MNers with at least one DC aged 5-8 to test their new subscription service, containing fun Moshi-themed activities and games. The boxes work in conjunction with the Moshi Egg Hunt Mobile Game, which can be downloaded for free on iOS and Android. Selected testers were sent a letter from Moshlingologist Buster Bumblechops, enlisting their DCs to help in a quest to retrieve a special stolen egg. This was then followed up by the first in a series of Mystery Boxes, containing crafts and activities.

Here’s what Mind Candy have said about the product: ‘The experience begins when your DC receives an exciting personalised letter in the post, in which Buster Bumblechops explains that a very special Moshling egg has been stolen and that he’ll soon be sending a Moshi Mystery Box, jam-packed with clues, activities and missions. The first box contains fun art and craft activities, Moshi collectables, a comic strip, jokes and much more. And if you decide to sign up, there will be two more Moshi Mystery Boxes to follow.

A simple story runs across all three boxes, taking your child on a quest across Monstro City. Each box is also themed - box one is the Frostipop Glacier, two is Potion Ocean and three is all about the Gombala Gombala Jungle! The first box will also contain a pack of trading cards that can be scanned to unlock exclusive characters in the 100% free Moshi Monsters Egg Hunt Mobile Game!’

Testers - if you’ve been sent your mystery box, please leave your feedback on the thread below to be entered into a prize draw for a £300 voucher of your choice (from a list).

Here are the questions Mind Candy would like you to answer:

  • What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?
  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?
- Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?
  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?
  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?
  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?
  • How do you think the experience could be improved?

Thanks for taking part and good luck with the prize draw.

What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?
They both came up against stiff competition, the letter arrived on a day when friends were round, and the box arrived on the same day as new Lego. But they were opened enthusiastically in the end!

  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?
Favourite activity was the ice eggs, this was great fun!
  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it? Not yet, but will do in due time
  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price? Considering the cards, equipment and two activities, these are good value, particularly for taking away since they are self contained.
  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?
  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?
Probably not, but might buy moshi pocket money stuff from the shop
  • How do you think the experience could be improved? The letters and the story didn't seem to have much impact on my ds (aged 6) but he liked the toys cards and activities a lot

Thank you very much for the gift

Annazak · 19/06/2017 17:19

My little chap was so excited waiting for his box and littealy jumped up and down when it arrived.

His favourite bit was freezing the Moshi eggs and thawing them with the salt and pipette! Literally fixated!

The paint bit was ok but a bit messy as powder paint and my littler one got to the packet but he enjoyed making the eggs.

The personalised letter went down well but is a bit long for younger ones - maybe a simpler letter they can read for themselves?

I won't be upgrading to a subscription as a bit expensive, but I may well make him a. Little envelope of fund stuff and post it to him....

I haven't downloaded the game yet but will do soon.

Overall a good product but a bit too expensive for regular subscription.

Thanks for the trial!

What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?

DS was not really bothered about the letter but very happy and excited to open the box.

Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?

His favourite item was the collectable and he is still playing with it every other day or so.

Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?

DS found the game ready to download but hasn't really wanted to download it yet, he prefers the physical items in the box.

These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?

£17.99 is expensive and I probably wouldn't pay that. I would think £5 - £7.50 per box is acceptable.

What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?

He wasn't too bothered about the letter but he loved receiving the box. He was very excited to read the packaging and open it.

_How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?*

Not very likely I'm afraid as its a bit unaffordable for us.

How do you think the experience could be improved?

It would be good to have another collectable in the box, and to make it a bit cheaper.

eteo · 19/06/2017 17:25

Here are the questions Mind Candy would like you to answer:

  • What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?
My daughter rip out everything without reading the letter as she was do excited.
  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?
Have to be the three characters included in the box.
  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?
  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?
It is too expensive to pay. I will only expect to pay at £4.99.
  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?
She enjoyed the activities with me and we spent time doing all together plus reading the jokes.
  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?
No likely as it is too expensive to afford.
  • How do you think the experience could be improved?
More activities to be included if it is so expensive.

  • What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?

My Dd was very excited when a letter had arrived for her , she opened it straight away , read the letter out loud to us parents. She was puzzled and excited as I had not mentioned that I knew it would be coming. Waiting a whole week for the box to come seemed a bit long , she was excited coming home asking if it had arrived each day ,when it hadn't.

  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?
Her favourite was the egg she enjoyed painting.
  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?
No , not yet.
  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?
More expensive than I would pay for a general activity , however it would be nice as a gift to someone, if a birthday message or something could be incorporated.
  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?

Yes, she was thrilled and excited by it all !
Unfortunately it arrived on a very busy day , so initially I had to rush through content with her before we had to rush out .

  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?
No I wouldn't pay £17.99 for 2 boxes. Although Dd liked it very much, she hasn't mentioned getting more boxes or taking it any further! But we will download the app. I think I would only buy this as a gift for another child, or maybe if it was themed towards Xmas /Easter / birthday as this is the time I would spend money on treats.
  • How do you think the experience could be improved? I would have liked an idea of how long they would need to wait between letter and box arrival

Thanks

PapaCoconut · 19/06/2017 17:31

What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?
When they received their letters they got very excited and checked the letterbox every day until they received their boxes. My eldest even took his letter to school for Show & Tell and would ask me each night if I thought the Moshi box would be there in the morning, he'd guess at the contents. As soon as the boxes arrived they ripped them open to see what was inside and were mighty pleased, comparing their moshlings and trading cards.

Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?
My eldest's favourite item from the box was his transparent and bendy Fifi moshling and my youngest's favourite item from the box was his Fumble moshling. They both also loved the frozen egg experiment and seemed to be quite taken by the single shiny "rare" trading card they each had in their boxes. And yes, they're both still playing with all their moshlings and want to do the frozen egg experiment again.

Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?
Yes. They said it's fun, my eldest says he likes collecting Rox and they both like how you get a new egg each day.

These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?
Far too expensive for what you get. We used to have a Toucanbox subscription which was only £2.99 and included a bunch of craft stuff equivalent to the experiment bits included in the Moshi box, so paying £7 more for 3 moshlings and a handful of trading cards seems excessive. I don't think I'd pay more than £5 for the box.

What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?
They found the overall experience exciting and having mail with their name on it made them feel important.

How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?
Not likely with the current pricing scheme, sorry. They'd both love them sure, but I can't justify the spend.

How do you think the experience could be improved?
I think the experiments could've been better packaged and the instructions for the experiment should have been with the experiment. We ended up recycling the coloured bags that were torn open and replaced them with sandwich bags to hold the experiment bits and pieces.

  • What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?

Thoroughly excited about the letter on the mat, read it several times. Real novelty seeing her name on there (she's 5). Very excited when box arrived, it was sitting on the mat on the Saturday.

  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?

The balloons

  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it? We did she's on it now.
  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?

A little high.

  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?

She thoroughly enjoyed getting post!

  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?

Possibly i will ask her

  • How do you think the experience could be improved?

Only thing was the letter stated 'we are sending your box next week'. It was over that I think and in 5 year old years it felt like a millennia.. details.

MummyBtothree · 19/06/2017 17:37

ButtonMoonLoon - I completely agree. My five year old has Autism & we haven't received either the letter or the box and every day my son has come home from school really upset and keeps asking me "why have you lied to me mummy?" as he takes things quite literally. Even if and when it does turn up now we have been let down by not receiving the letter first Sad

MrsFigg · 19/06/2017 17:40

I didn't actually receive any information about this test but had an email today to tell me this feedback thread is active for comments.

I didn't actually think I had been picked so not fully sure if I should be expecting anything.
Just wanted to clear it up in case I unknowingly break the product test rules

snowymum12 · 19/06/2017 17:58

My daughter liked the colourful letter and was excited to receive the box. When it arrived she had a good feel of the parcels before us looking together at the different activities.

Her favourite item was the activity with the tiny moshings.

We downloaded the game but it didn't really sustain her interest.

I think the box is very expensive for what you get.

I liked the idea and the activities were fun. Our paint had disappeared by the time we opened the package so we were a bit confused by two empty packets.

We'll probably not upgrade our subscription as one of think he activities was broken so I would be concerned about paying quite a lot for not very much.

I suppose it could be a better price for the experience.

LadyTennantofTardis · 19/06/2017 18:01

Here are the questions Mind Candy would like you to answer:

  • What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?
My DD loved the letter but this led to a week of 'is my activity box here yet?' With her getting quite frustrated towards the end if the week.
  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?
The balloons with the freezing toys in. We will excavate them tonight.
  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?
Not yet, but the type of thing she is interested in.
  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?
Very expensive, would think 9.99 for 2 more like it.
  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation? Enjoyed getting something with her name on it, lived the activities and characters, found the story a bit complicated.
  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?
No, too expensive.
  • How do you think the experience could be improved?
Less complicated story.
tackyprincess · 19/06/2017 18:06
  • What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?
He wasn't overly excited by the letter. He was excited at the box coming although it was a few weeks later by the time it arrived I think he had forgotten about it. Although he still wanted to open it and look inside straight away.
  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?
He really enjoyed the map part that was a little bit like Where's Wally. It's now a pirate map on his bedroom wall! He initially liked the collectables but by the end of the first day he had stopped playing with them.
  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?
This was one of the best parts for him. He really enjoyed scanning the cards and collecting the characters. He still plays with the game now looking after his Moshling.
  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?
Far too expensive for what you get. If it was £9.99 for the final 2 boxes I would definitely buy them.
  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?
We already get Toucan boxes so he is used to getting things in the post addressed to him. He really enjoys doing them so I think he was a bit disappointed with the tasks in this box. However he initially enjoyed playing with the characters and is still playing with the cards and the map.
  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?
At £17.99 I can't really justify buying them for the short time they are played with. Although at a cheaper price I would consider it as he did enjoy it initially.
  • How do you think the experience could be improved?
There needs to be a shorter time between getting the letter and the box arriving. It would be good if the parent could tweet what was in the box so it was more age appropriate or able to choose what tasks they get so it would be something that the child is more interested in and more likely to complete them
donnatella110 · 19/06/2017 18:11

What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?
DS was soo excited. He read the letter aloud twice and told everyone who would listen that he had to do a treasure hunt to find a special egg. Quality of letter and personalisation was great. The little touch of the stamp on the back of the envelope was a nice. He look the letter to the park and to school. Excitedly awaited the delivery of the box. Like others have said stating that it would arive in a week gave him expectations that would be danted. On Saturday he woke up singing "I'm ready I'm ready" ready for what? His moshie box of course. I hoped and hoped it would come and it did. He loved opening the box although struggled a little. Loved the little bags inside.. it was a real treasure trove!

Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?
His favourite item was making the ice eggs and hatching them. He said he was doing science and playing.. always a plus for me. We have made ice eggs 3 times now but obviously used our own balloons and used food colouring to colour the ice.

Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?
DS is usually glued to apps like this. He played for about an hour but hasn't been back to it.

These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?
TOO EXPENSIVE! This is a shame. I thought it would be around the same price as a magazine subscription £5 - £6. The only thing to really keep us the little moshlings.

What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?
DS absolutely loved it. The anticipation was as good as receiving it and he couldntold wait to get started. He quickly completed all the activities.

How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?
Not very likely unfortunately purely down to cost. My DS would love to continue receiving them (he thinks Bumblechops is his pen pal) but at this price I can't justify it.

How do you think the experience could be improved?
Definitely make it a bit cheaper. Love the range of activities so keep a science /task element. The instruction cards within the little bags of equipment would have been better as DS was instant drawn to them and asked what do I do with these. He was still thinking treasure hunt!

Overall it's been an absolute treat to be on this little adventure with him. As an autistic child who is usually excluded by other children, he had something they liked and he felt very special (which he is!). Thank you Star

anniewhitey · 19/06/2017 18:12

WHAT DID YOUR DC DO WHEN THEY RECIEVED THEIR LETTER AND THEIR BOX?

My goodness she was beyond excited, she waved it in my face when I came home from work delighted and asked me how they knew she would want it!

WHICH IS THEIR FAVOURITE ITEM FROM THE BOX AND ARE THEY STILL PLAYING WITH IT?

the activities she loves crafts!

DID YOU DOWNLOAD THE MOBILE GAME? How did they find it?

yes I did and she loves it. I think the general ease of use helps as even I can find my way around it. Very child friendly

THESE WILL BE PRICED AT £9.99 PER BOX PR TWO BOXES FOR £17.99. WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE PRICE?

it think that's a little expensive as you would get more in a magazine for £3.99, I would say maybe £4.99 two for £9 as youdo get the personalisation

WHAT DID YOUR DC THINK OF THE OVERALL MYSTERY BOX EXPERIENCE AND PERSONALISATION?

loved it she did her own review YouTube style video for it !

HOW LIKELY ARE YOU TO UGRADE TO A PAID SUBSCRIPTION SO THAT YOUR DC CAN CONTINUE WITH THE NEXT TWO BOXES IN THE SERIES?

Not likely at the price they are set at!

HOW DO YOU THINK THE EXPERIENCE COULD BE IMPROVED?

I think having more monsters inside or them only unlockable from doing the activities

WHat

HeyGoo · 19/06/2017 18:13
  • What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?

DC was reallysurprised by the letter as it was personalised, and the mention of a mystery box coming just for him was very exciting. We were lucky and it arrived promptly.

  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?

The tiny moshies were a big hit, I think we will be freezing balloons here for a while. The trading cards were the most favourite though and DC will be wanting more of those for sure.

  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?

Yes, and DC really likes it. Scanning the codes on the cards was very popular, I think it will be a favourite app for a while yet.

  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?

Way overpriced. We really like the app and cards, but the craft activities were not worth the money for us. DC is not really a fan of craft activities, and I think the egg craft was particularly uninspiring.

  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?

The personalisation was great and really got my DC engaged with the whole idea, although the box contents were a bit of a let down. I think my DC was expecting a bit more of a mystery to solve rather than craft activities :D

  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?

Not for us.

  • How do you think the experience could be improved?

More activities in the box, and maybe a point to them? We were expecting more than we got, the contents seemed a bit random and unconnected to the excitement of the letter.

Maiyakat · 19/06/2017 18:13
  • What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?

DD liked her letter, and was excited that she would be getting a box. It took another week to arrive which led to daily questions of 'has my box arrived yet?'!

  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?

The 3 small figures, although they have now got lost

  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?

No didn't use it

  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?

Very expensive for what they contain

  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?

DD liked getting something addressed to her. She enjoyed the frozen egg activity. The packet of red powder for the second activity burst when DD took it out of the bag, so couldn't do that one (my sofa still has a red tinge, open on a table!)

  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?

Very unlikely due to the price

  • How do you think the experience could be improved?

It wasn't very clear what we should be doing to help solve the mystery, maybe that was on the mobile app

Bumbumtaloo · 19/06/2017 18:14

Sorry on my phone so cannot highlight each question but will still review.....

My daughter was very excited to receive the letter, she was immediately excited because this was the first part and she would be receiving the box.

The box arrived on Saturday - it was all battered and part of it was torn open but she was excited to get it all the same. She opened it straight away with her younger sister and all the bits were scattered everywhere. We sat down and had a look at it together and she particularly liked the Moshi cards.

Due to the hot weather and a busy weekend she hasn't picked it up since Saturday, I did ask if she wanted to go through it again tonight after school and the reply was no.

I think they are slightly over priced especially as you can get Toucan craft boxes from £5.95 per month. All in all I wouldn't pay to get the further two boxes as the initial one hasn't caught dd's imagination.

I will update again once she has done the tasks.

CopperPan · 19/06/2017 18:22
  • What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?

DD opened the box and spread all the contents over the floor and got me to tell her what all the different bits were. I had to read the letter to her and she was delighted that it was personally addressed.

  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?

DD loved the little character and the ice eggs, she is still playing with them.

  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?

Yes we downloaded the game and DD found it a lot of fun. It was quite a novelty scanning the QR codes.

  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?

I think that would be quite expensive on a regular basis, but we might consider it as an occasional treat.

  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?

DD loved the personalisation and was excited to open the box. It was definitely a good experience.

  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?

Unlikely as it's quite expensive. It would be good as a one-off for holidays etc.

  • How do you think the experience could be improved?

I think the pricing could be better and DD needed quite a bit of help to follow the activities. Instructions could be simplified to help dc be more independent. The packaging could be better as we wanted to pack everything up again but the box was torn.

MinnieMooo · 19/06/2017 18:24
  • What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?
She was absolutely over the moon to get the letter and was so excited about the prospect of the box
  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?
She loved the little toys and is still playing with them
  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it? Yes and she really liked it.
  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?
It is VERY expensive for what you get, but so are Shopkins and all the other plastic tat they love. I suppose on balance getting 3 little toys and the cards and two activities made it no more of a waste of money than the blind bags, and it was more personal.
  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?
She loved it.
  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?
She has some birthday money which she would only spend on rubbish, so if she wants to pay half then I will pay the rest.
  • How do you think the experience could be improved?
More toys, more activities, probably a bit cheaper.
RTRBlog · 19/06/2017 18:28

What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?

We received our letter a week before we received our box so my DS was very excited to receive his box. It arrived on the weekend, so perfect time to get crafty with the contents. He loved the look of the box and couldn't wait to open it.

  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?

The moshi monster figure was his favourite item and he is still carrying it around with him and the cards.

  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?

My son loves the game, he is very dissapointed that none of the code work.

  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?

Extremely overpriced, I would not pay that amount for 2 craft activities and a colourful box.

  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?

He liked the personalised letter, but got bored very quickly, he didn't like the craft activities. After waiting a week from the initial letter he was a but underwhelmed.

  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?

Not at all likely, I think the boxes are terrible quality and poor value for money.

  • How do you think the experience could be improved?

Reduce the price and maybe include more craft activites, there are plenty other craft box subscription boxes that charge less and provide more.

PooPooOfferson · 19/06/2017 18:34

-What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?
My son gets excited about receiving post, so he was keen to open the letter and box. He looked through the contents of the box and particularly liked that there were little figures.

  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?
He says that his favourite items are the little toys, cards and making an egg in the freezer.
  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?
Yes we did. Very addictive - my son would spend ages every day if it was up to him.
  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?
This seems too expensive.
  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?
He really liked it and has spent a couple of hours doing the activities over the past few days.
  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?
Unlikely as it is expensive.
  • How do you think the experience could be improved?
To lower the cost. The initial letter is too long-winded for a 5 year old.
ColdAsIceCubes · 19/06/2017 18:35
  • What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?

The wait between the letter and the box was a bit longer than anticipated, it arrived on a weekend morning which gave us lots of time to have a good look at what was inside. DS spent a good hour upon opening it examining everything.

  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?

DS loved the blind Moshi bag, chopchop has been everywhere with him since.

  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?

We did download the game and scanned all the cards. Ds liked it, easy to use and understand but having used the previous Moshi Monsters with my now teenage DS a few years ago I much preferred the early version (which we paid a subscription for).

  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?

I liked the box and so did ds, but the price is a bit steep for what it actually is which is a shame.

  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?

Ds LOVED the personalisation, he doesn't get any post so he was very excited to get something with his name on, but he got a bit disheartened with the wait after the initial letter.

  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?

Not likely at all, although ds loves it £17.99 is just too expensive for what it was.

  • How do you think the experience could be improved?

The only negatives were the wait between letter and box and the price of the boxes. If the boxes were priced in a child's pocket money range it may have been a consideration.

Thank you so much for letting us test, DS genuinely enjoyed the experience, but I can't justify the cost going forward.

What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?
The letter made him excited but it was then over a week until the box came and he had forgotten about it. But he ripped the box open as soon as it came.

  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?
He says the story. It is still out as he only got it 3 days ago so is playing with it. He hasn't been interested in the activities which is odd as he usually likes them. He liked the cards and got all his old moshi monsters down to play with the new one and baby ones.
  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?
We haven't yet as he hasn't asked. I imagine we will but if he doesn't ask, I could do with less time on ipads!
  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?
It is on the high side. £8 or £15 is more reasonable. That said I wouldn't want to purchase it myself, maybe as a gift.
  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?
He liked the letter was to him but the wait between letter and box was too long.
  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?
Not likely based on price
  • How do you think the experience could be improved?
It is hard as as a parent I wasn't overly impressed, but my DC did like it. I guess as a parent, it feels like you aren't getting much for your money. I would personally like an extra moshi rather than the cards.

Here are the questions Mind Candy would like you to answer:

  • What did your DC do first when they received their letter and their box?

Loved receiving post - ripped open the letter and read it over and over.
Ripped open the box which unfortunately distributed contents everywhere which made the contents a bit confusing!

  • Which was their favourite item from the box and are they still playing with it?

The tiniest moshling

  • Did you download the mobile game? How did they find it?

We haven't downloaded the mobile game, didn't actually know there was one til now...

  • These will be priced at £9.99 per box, or a bundle of two boxes at £17.99. What are your thoughts on the price?

Far too expensive, more in the £10 for 2 boxes price range

  • What did your DC think of the overall Mystery Box experience and personalisation?

Loved the personalisation - "mummy, he's chosen me! I'm going to be a spy! How cool is that?!" X 100000

  • How likely are you to upgrade to a paid subscription, so that your DC can continue with the next two boxes in the series?

Based on the price, unlikely

  • How do you think the experience could be improved?

A 'grown ups letter' too - difficult to figure out what was what and what you were supposed to do with it by the time 2 kids had got all the bits out, played with some/mislaid some
