This is the feedback thread of the 500 Mumsnetters who are testing PitROK Extra Sensitive deodorant.

Here’s what PitROK have to say: “It’s a sensitive time being a New Mum. It can bring wonders and joy; but also nagging questions about our children’s environment and what’s good for our bodies. We spoke to 641 New Mums, and over 40% of them told us they had changed their Deodorant around this time to stop the irritation some Antiperspirants can cause; whilst enabling their bodies to perform more naturally. At PitROK we’ve been making naturally effective deodorant for over 20 years and many people swear by them. Please try our new Extra Sensitive deo - it’s been especially formulated by a Mum for New Mums.”

Testers, now that you've been testing the product for 3-4 weeks and given your first impressions on PitROK Extra Sensitive, we'd like you to complete this survey and answer the questions below:

  • What were your thoughts about the effectiveness of PitROK Extra Sensitive, given that it's a natural product?
  • Do you feel that PitROK Extra Sensitive has had an effect on either your sensitive skin or under arm irritation?

If you have any trouble with using the product or have any queries about PitROK Extra Sensitive whilst you’re testing, feel free to use PitROK’s Ask Alison feature where they will be able to answer your questions.

All testers who give the required feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Boots voucher.

Thanks, and good luck!

First impressions: I really like the packaging & the double lid the inside one has now been pinched & hidden by 2 troublesome kittens. I like the fact that it's unscented as stronger scents tend to make me sneeze. The first couple of times I used it I found it very wet going on but I've now got used to this. We've had really hot temps this week & I've found it very good & I haven't felt sticky & horrible or like I smell &, assuming he's being honest, DH has confirmed that I don't. Overall 1 week in I'm really impressed Smile

Whitecoatsyndrome · 17/09/2016 12:46

First impressions of the spray are good. I did notice the smell but got used to it very quickly. I've been impressed by the effectiveness of it, I haven't sweat much at all and I don't smell so that's definitely a plus! It took a little while to dry but I haven't had the dribble down the arm that others have mentioned yet!One niggle I would say in the packaging design is that because the writing goes around the bottle, it makes it hard to read without turning the bottle back and forth, might be better in two columns? Overall, I'm impressed and I wasn't expecting to be!

OrangeBlossom2 · 17/09/2016 17:05

Similar packaging shape and size to standard pitrok and salt of the earth deodorants which I usually use. Easy to tell this is a similar product. I might buy it instead as long as the same price or cheaper than these.

As with these other natural deoderants, feels wetter than standard aerosols and takes a while to try. I'm used to this.

I like the idea of one for pregnant /new mums. This was when I switched to natural products and a now pregnant with #2. Are there any particular benefits? Make clearer.

I'm glad it's green rather than obvious pink!

Don't like the smell AT ALL. This would put me off buying it it again as it doesn't seem to have any other benefits over other natural deoderants and only this negative. Maybe it will grow on me. But pregnant women have a very sensitive sense of smell.

The two lids seems unnecessary packaging, I'm bound to lose at least one. Only a second extra of my day to remove and replace twice but annoying as I can't see the benefit of two.

Raisingbabylg · 17/09/2016 17:25

My first impressions are that it looks like a hair product. I like the double lid so I feel assured when I carry it with me that it won't leak.
I like that it doesn't fill the room when sprayed like an aerosol can but the initial smell is not pleasant. Fortunately this does appear to disappear quite quickly.
So far so good!

BendydickCuminsnatch · 17/09/2016 19:19

I have tried again properly over the past couple of days and been quite impressed and unsweaty actually! Which is good as it feels so UN-fresh when you first apply it.

I think the thing is, I didn't have a good first impression so didnt have a massive urge to try it. Didn't have a great first impression because my bottle only had what I've now learned is the inner cap and so I assumed it was a prototype, it didn't look like a final design and a product you'd find in the shelves. Now I have seen the second cap, I feel a lot better about it! How odd! Funny the difference a cap can make Grin

Stargirl84 · 17/09/2016 20:16

I really like the natural feel of the product and the fact that it is unscented. I like the fact it is a water spray rather than an aerosol spray. I think the bottle is a good size but I find the text on the back difficult to read due to its size (could just be me getting old!) and the colour of the font on the white background.

chunk14 · 17/09/2016 20:29

First impressions not to keen on the smell or the wetness as you put it on and don't feel overly confident wearing this on underarms ( I have never used a natural deodorant before) do like it on my feet though.

bananafone5 · 17/09/2016 20:42

The double lid was a bit unnecessary, but I liked the packaging overall. I'm not finding it too wet, once I've sprayed it I don't really notice, and I've found that two sprays are about right.

I'm surprised at how well it works - although it's definitely stopped working by the next morning, it lasts the day and there's no synthetic smell like other deodorants. Pleasantly surprised!

orangebud · 17/09/2016 20:45

First impressions were not great. The bottle had leaked so required cleaning before use. I was unsure of the pump spray rather than standard aerosol spray, but it worked well. I found I needed to use about 4 sprays under each arm to feel like I was getting the required coverage. Not sure if this is the norm or not.... The scent is very mild. After using it for a week, I have no complaints about the performance so far. I have yet to use this product before a long run or gym session, but will do in the next week and several times before the end of the testing.

flipflump · 17/09/2016 21:19

First impressions, like the look of the bottle. Was surprised it's neither aerosol or roll on but a pleasant surprise. Not crazy about the scent, I'm used to heavily scented products. Felt a bit whiffy after the first 2 days but I'll stick with it and see how it goes.

DiggityDam · 17/09/2016 21:20

I began using Pitrock was right in the middle of heatwave on a beach holiday and I felt that it out performed my usual brand. The smell of the product was light and airy, which for me is a positive as I don't like deodorants which smell too strongly. It did take a little while to get used to the wet feeling on application but I have gotten used to that.

First impressions of the packaging was that is was visually pleasant, but could be mistaken for a hair product, although I've never used non aerosol deodorants before so that might just be me.

So far so good.

firsttimemum15 · 17/09/2016 21:58

I like the packaging. The two caps doesn't bother me. The product is growing on me after using it continually. The smell is also growing on me the biggest t plus for me is that it's natural

wonkylegs · 17/09/2016 23:02

First impressions - seems fine, it does go on a bit wet which I don't really like but dries after a minute or two. Once I realised this I have been using this time to moisturise (I usually forget so this is a good thing) but I'm not sure how great this would be if in a rush.
I do have sensitive underarms and I felt a tiny bit itchy when I first tried this but after a few days it's no longer an issue.
Not sure about the smell can't decide if I dislike it or not
Performance wise although I don't feel as dry as I'm used to, I don't seem to smell and that's been over a rather busy sweaty week in some muggy weather.
Packaging nice looking but don't get the 2 lids thing , i favour less is more where packaging goes so this does annoy a bit.

OksanaFitzgerald · 17/09/2016 23:05

I have tried many deodorants and antiperspirats before. Even before I got pregnant I wanted to find something natural that really works. I found that natural deodorants do not work so well and have unpleasant scent. I was a bit sceptical about this product too. But when it arrived I loved that the scent is so subtle, almost no scent at all. Its easy to apply and so far I loved the result. I do not sweat as much and I do not have any unpleasant smell under my arms anymore. I did not like the 2 caps, its a bit annoying, so I threw one of them away.

Fizzyboo · 17/09/2016 23:12

First impressions, nice pump spray not an aerosol.. Best to put on whilst still in a towel, not dressed. Lastly the two caps seems a bit odd and wasteful!

Macdat · 17/09/2016 23:54

So I've been using it for a week now, and I know I've said it before, but I'm really really surprised by how well it works. The initial smell, I'm not keen on, but that fades quickly. It's so light, and the smell it has, just both make it seem like it really won't be strong enough but it really does work well.

puglife · 18/09/2016 06:46

The initial smell is a bit odd, however this doesn't seem to last once applied.
So far it seems just as effective as I'm usual deodorant, no marks on my clothing and I don't feel smelly after a day out.
So far it looks good.

Abis04 · 18/09/2016 08:29

So after using it for a week I really like the pump spray.. I definitely haven't had any irritation, even after shaving.

I really like the design on the front of the bottle and have found it effective, even in the heat! Yet to test it on a really long walk but seems good so far

pinkDEpanter · 18/09/2016 09:21

Still loving this product. Missing a constant fragrance slightly though. Other than that this is honestly fantastic and does the job well

rachaelsit · 18/09/2016 09:26

I don't think the deodorant has any scent at all and my sensitivity to smells is pretty high at the best of times!
I love it. It's a great size and is effective in keeping me dry and without smell. No horrible powder or white creases underarm. Love it

Jennamn · 18/09/2016 10:10

Absolutely love the design of the bottle with it being a spray and the double lid. However there is definitely a smell which I am not too keen on. Only received yesterday and heading to Barbados for a week today so cannot wait to try this out whilst in the heat!

snarferson · 18/09/2016 10:29

Hello. Sorry I'm a bit late just got back from holiday this am. I will pick up from sorting office tomorrow and leave some feed back!!

digitalpaintartist · 18/09/2016 11:34

I am really pleased with the product, so far. It arrived in my final days of pregnancy, when the weather was extremely warm, and I remained dry and odour free throughout (despite sweating buckets). I am pleased that there is a slight scent to the product as I am used to my 'powder' fragrance from my normal deodorant and typically, sensitive products make me feel as though I'll never get to use anything that has a scent again. I took it in my hospital bag and was pleased to have it with me after labour as its not harsh and I didn't feel as though I was spraying anything that might be harmful to my baby.

danigrace · 18/09/2016 12:22

Second day and initial impressions are good!! All spray deodorants have always hurt my throat/chest a little which has led to me habitually holding my breath whilst I apply deodorant then swiftly exiting the bathroom!! But this doesn't do that at all, ahh the freedom! I like the fragrance, especially as it doesn't feel like it's trying to kill me lol. Feels wetter than I'm used to for the first few seconds but (if it works) that's something I'll et used to and m more than happy to trade.

postitnotes · 18/09/2016 13:39

Mine had somehow leaked in the package it arrived in, the inside lid was loose but not sure how that meant the package was soaked with deodorant.

Other than that, have been pleased with it in general. I don't use aerosols as they aggravate my asthma, so have always stuck to roll-ons. This spray has worked well, and has lasted all day.

Minor downsides: although it is fragrance-free, there is an odour when sprayed which is not particularly pleasant but is fairly mild and disappears quickly. Also, I had some broken skin (eczema) and the spray made it sting for a few seconds (then I checked the label and it does say not to spray on broken skin! - but this is not ideal if you suffer from allergies or sensitivities as you may well have broken or irritated skin)
