This is the feedback thread of the 500 Mumsnetters who are testing PitROK Extra Sensitive deodorant.

Here’s what PitROK have to say: “It’s a sensitive time being a New Mum. It can bring wonders and joy; but also nagging questions about our children’s environment and what’s good for our bodies. We spoke to 641 New Mums, and over 40% of them told us they had changed their Deodorant around this time to stop the irritation some Antiperspirants can cause; whilst enabling their bodies to perform more naturally. At PitROK we’ve been making naturally effective deodorant for over 20 years and many people swear by them. Please try our new Extra Sensitive deo - it’s been especially formulated by a Mum for New Mums.”

Testers, now that you've been testing the product for 3-4 weeks and given your first impressions on PitROK Extra Sensitive, we'd like you to complete this survey and answer the questions below:

  • What were your thoughts about the effectiveness of PitROK Extra Sensitive, given that it's a natural product?
  • Do you feel that PitROK Extra Sensitive has had an effect on either your sensitive skin or under arm irritation?

If you have any trouble with using the product or have any queries about PitROK Extra Sensitive whilst you’re testing, feel free to use PitROK’s Ask Alison feature where they will be able to answer your questions.

All testers who give the required feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Boots voucher.

Thanks, and good luck!

I am not sure if I like the scent or not but it is very effective at preventing perspiration and I like the fact that it isn't an aerosol spray. I like that too much doesn't come out when you spray it so there is minimal waste

TheWeeBabySeamus1 · 18/09/2016 14:50

Product arrived intact, I liked the packaging. I found the deodorant itself very wet going on and it takes a while to dry. No distinct fragrance, which is good for me as my skin gets irritated by heavily perfumed products. I am pleasantly surprised by how well it works, I sweat quite a lot, this week has been hot, and it's been as good as my usual aerosol deodorant at keeping me dry.

Heavenscent86 · 18/09/2016 15:49

Just received my deodorant and am on my second day of using it so first impressions.

Positives:
It's natural
No parabens
Not an aerosol
Feels nice on my skin
No noticeable sweaty smell by the end of the day

Negatives:
I don't like having two lids
Waiting for it to dry takes a long time when you have a baby and child to get ready
Slightly damp feeling under the arms during the day and this is not a very hot day
Slightly strange smell when you first spray it on

So this is all I can think of so far. I'm going to keep trying as I don't dislike it but at the moment I think I prefer a stick deodorant to this spray.

lozaa · 18/09/2016 17:34

Had a few days of using the deodorant

Positives so far - seems effective with sweat, packaging was nice, natural ingredients so feel very happy using it pregnant, no allergic reaction which is very good

Negatives- takes a while to dry, the two lids are slightly faffy,

It has a slight aroma but don't mind it- not sure what it smells like

socktastic · 18/09/2016 17:35

So far, so good.

I've done quite a bit of walking recently (sadly not in quite as high temperatures as some parts of the UK). I would often arrive home hot and sweaty - I live at the top of a big hill - but pitrok seems to be doing its job very well indeed as my underarms have stayed dry and fresh. I have also tried it on my feet which I will continue to do and report back when I've given it more time.

I'm not sure I like the pump action spray but that's a minor detail. I would also want more of a noticeable fragrance.

summerson · 18/09/2016 18:26

Like others I like the pump spray, and not having used a natural salt deodorant in a long time I am impressed with Pitrok. However I don't like the sticky/clammy feeling of my skin when I try shower at night I can feel where the deodorant has been all day, much like a regular deo/antiperspirant feeling.

Bubbinsmakesthree · 18/09/2016 18:29

I am really pleased with how fresh my underarms feel and smell!

I often ended the day with really stinky underarms which I've never understood as I shower daily, and I thought you weren't supposed to smell if you washed regularly.

This is just not happening at all since I started this trial - at worst I smell very slightly of fresh sweat at the end of the day, not a stale stench. I can only assume that clogged up pores were harbouring nasty odour causing bacteria - bleurgh! Shock

TheDuchessOfKidderminster · 18/09/2016 19:23

I like it. It smells nice, is gentle on the skin and works well as a deodorant. Much easier to use and seems more effective than the Pitrok crystal deodorant that I've used in the past. Also much nicer than aerosol deodorants which I usually find too strong smelling and leave a nasty residue in my skin. I like the fact it has natural ingredients and doesn't contain either aluminium or alcohol.

Minor quibbles - writing difficult to read on the packaging, two lids seems excessive, difficult to aim correctly without looking in a mirror.

It is also a bit of a pain that you're only meant to use it straight after having a shower or bath, especially for a product aimed at new/busy mums who might find it difficult to find time to have a wash before having to go out.

RaeSkywalker · 18/09/2016 19:31

I've been using this for a week now (wanted to wait before posting my initial thoughts).

I am genuinely hugely impressed. I've tried lots of 'natural' deodorants before- they have never worked for me and I've been quite smelly by the end of the day! This is totally different. Our office was 34 degrees last week and I didn't smell at all by the end of the day. I also think that I'm not sweating as much as I normally would.

The other major bonus for me is that my underarms are so much smoother. The skin has always been really dry and irritated, but they're in great condition now. I can't believe the difference in such a short amount of time.

The negatives I've found are mainly that the 2 lid format is a bit of a pain- I've chucked the clear one away today. The product does have a bit of a smell when you first spray it, which I don't like breathing in. It goes quickly though. And finally- the product had leaked in transit (despite the 2 lids!)

Otherwise though, I am very impressed. I'm so pleased to have found a natural deodorant that works, especially as I'm 31 weeks pregnant.

parisgellar · 18/09/2016 19:40

Just thought I'd post again so I don't forget to say that this hurt my pits today as is applied it after shaving!Sad

RemoveAllPicturesOfRon · 18/09/2016 19:48

Mine had leaked by the time it arrived (despite the two lids) and I also REALLY didn't like the initial smell at all. It does seem quite effective, but a combination of the smell and the lingering wet underarms means I'll probably stick with my usual deodorant stick from now on. A shame, as I really liked the premise of it, but I don't think it's for me.

gammatron · 18/09/2016 20:41

I was quite surprised to find that the deodorant is a spray, always had aerosol/ roll on before! It has an unusual smell, not bad just different- the smell disappears once on though. I've found that the liquid drips/ runs down my body when I first apply it, it dries quite quickly (after about a minute) though. Perspiration wise, it seems to be working so far- I normally use a '72 hour' deodorant (I'm quite a sweaty betty!) so wasn't expecting too much from this however I've been using it for a few days now and even after a few long walks in the sun I haven't had any sweat patches so so far so good!

lebkucken · 18/09/2016 20:47

Like quite a few others here mine leaked in transit. Obviously a put off for travel, online shopping or even if you're going to store it lying down in a drawer rather than standing up. I also think the 2 lids is a faff.
However I'm impressed by the packaging- more modern looking than I was expecting - and I can't smell anything when I put it on. It does seem to work as an antiperspirant as well as deodorant. In the past week since I started using it I've noticed my body odour once, and that was at the end of the day when wearing synthetics. I'm no longer bfing my youngest but would have loved to use this as I did worry about chemicals and bf.

chibsortig · 18/09/2016 20:56

Been using it a few days now. I am not keen on the scent in the bottle its weird. However when it has dried on the skin there is no fragrance. I dont use my usual deodorant/antiperspirant on a night to give my body a chance to breathe but i have been using this product nightly after my shower and its been a warm humid week and this deodorant has kept the B.O at bay so far.

vickyors · 18/09/2016 21:27

I wasn't at all sure about the smell at first. Plus, I was put off by the very liquid consistency. It sprays, and dribbles down the inside of ones clothes.

However, I was won over by the quality. It kept me fresh, even after a run! I tried it out at home for the first couple of days, then tested it out at work, and I was really impressed! I have a really busy job and normally have a seriously strong deodorant.
I was really pleased.

RaeSkywalker · 18/09/2016 21:33

I also forgot to say- you have to apply straight after a bath/ shower. But it really stings if you apply after shaving!! Still pleased with it, but maybe it should carry a warning- I know it does about broken skin, but I'm not sure that a lot of people would consider shaved skin "broken" if there's no visible skin damage. I'm not sure how to get around this- I need to shave (OK, i don't need to, but Inwant to), but I also have to apply the deodorant immediately afterwards?

cookiewuk · 18/09/2016 22:32

I have to say that when this arrived I was disappointed to note that it had leaked despite having two lids. That however is my only complaint about the product so far. The packaging is beautiful and I love the natural ingredients. I have tried a few different aluminium free deodorants in the past but gave up as they left me a bit stinky by the end of the day if it had been warm. So far I have been using this for three days and no sign of any stink yet even though it has been scorching here! Do not apply after shaving though or it does sting! I'm very impressed and looking forward to continuing the trial.

Considerphebas · 19/09/2016 07:40

I would definitely echo the issues with leaking, mine has leaked all over the bag and I took it away this weekend and it leaked into my wash bag despite having both kids on.
I like the initial smell and it's worked well so far although I haven't been that hot and sweaty yet!

Fabulosososo · 19/09/2016 07:50

So far so good. I only have one lid (blue one) which had fallen off in the packaging. No leakage though. Also packed it in a suitcase last night and still no leakage so it's portable. Packaging is nice. I had assumed that, as the name has 'rok' in it, it would be a solid deodorant but it's a spray. When I first saw the pump spray thing I thought it probably wouldn't spray evenly but it actually does spray nicely. Takes a bit of time to dry but so do my roll on deodorants. There is a funny smell when you put it on which I really don't like. I'm pregnant too so sensitive to smell which doesn't help. I can't smell it through my clothes though. I've just walked one mile and it seems to have worked so far. Still got a train journey and another mile to walk so we'll see! But overall I like it so far and I'm really happy to not be using chemicals with being pregnant and also having a rash on one armpit so fingers crossed it works! Will post again in a few weeks

AdeleMcGilvray · 19/09/2016 08:01

On first impression I really like this deodorant. The smell is pleasant and remains so throughout the day. Although I've only been using it for a week or so, I have noticed a difference in the sensitivity of my underarm skin which is usually easily irritated but seems much calmer since using this product. I am currently pregnant and so far it is coping well with all the extra hard work required of it!

HappyGirl86 · 19/09/2016 09:45

First impressions: I like the packaging. I like the fact the bottle is a spray as I think this seems more hygienic that a roll on somehow. The smell isn't too strong- I don't either like or dislike the scent. The spray comes out easily and the liquid isn't sticky or greasy. Just feels very light and gentle.
I am interested to see how this product is over a few weeks.

Babyiwantabump · 19/09/2016 12:39

Only recieved mine on Saturday so only on first day of using it .

Initial thoughts are it's ok . Bit strange being a spray as I'm used to a stick deodorant so application has been a bit messier than what I'm used to - may have been easier as a roll on?

I can't really detect a strong smell - OH says it smells a bit like baby wipes but it's not off putting .

Seems ok so far no sweating after running round after two poorly children this morning .

I am interested to see how well it will stand up over time as my body gets used to it.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 19/09/2016 12:40

Just tried this at the gym, and didn't shower/clean the area beforehand as it says you're supposed to, and it was fine! Great even! Genuinely impressed.

ralv · 19/09/2016 14:22

I'm a bit late to the party as just received my spray on return from holiday. On day 2 and first impressions are good. I was expecting a solid block like the pitrok I'm aware of so the spray was a pleasant surprise as easy to use. A little confused as it says to only use straight after a shower... and I shower every other day... so will it last until my next shower or should I risk it and use on my inbetween days too? (I'm not that dirty...promise!). Either way... it has a pleasant smell and feel so all looking good so far - but its very Autumnal now so it's not being put through its sweaty paces yet! I'm pregnant so its very important for me to use a deodorant free from aluminium and other chemicals - and so far I haven't found one that works as well as horrible high street ones... so I am keeping everything crossed!

Poocatcherchampion · 19/09/2016 15:54

Ive given some feedback on the other thread but I'll give it here too.

I initially didn't like it to apply and I am struggling with the "only apply after shower" advice.

Spurred on by others' positive posts I am giving it another go, and it did seem better to apply this time. I guess I will come back in a few weeks to give a verdict on smells
