This is the feedback thread of the 500 Mumsnetters who are testing PitROK Extra Sensitive deodorant.

Here’s what PitROK have to say: “It’s a sensitive time being a New Mum. It can bring wonders and joy; but also nagging questions about our children’s environment and what’s good for our bodies. We spoke to 641 New Mums, and over 40% of them told us they had changed their Deodorant around this time to stop the irritation some Antiperspirants can cause; whilst enabling their bodies to perform more naturally. At PitROK we’ve been making naturally effective deodorant for over 20 years and many people swear by them. Please try our new Extra Sensitive deo - it’s been especially formulated by a Mum for New Mums.”

Testers, now that you've been testing the product for 3-4 weeks and given your first impressions on PitROK Extra Sensitive, we'd like you to complete this survey and answer the questions below:

My final feedback is a bit of a mixed review. Unfortunately, even after a few weeks of using this product I still do not like the smell which puts me off the product as I like to smell nice aswell as be clean and fresh. So I've had to double up on my perfume just to feel comfortable that I smell alright. Maybe a change of fragrance would be beneficial. I prefer roll on deodorants as they dry quick as this took quite awhile to dry which isn't great when in a rush. On that note sometimes I need to refresh my deodorant when I haven't had a shower like if I'm running late on a morning, the product says to use after a wash or shower but sometimes you will want to use it when you haven't had a shower so that has been problematic having to just wash my armpits just to apply deodorant. On particularly busy or hot days it also doesn't work that effectively. But on an average day it is effective considering it is a natural product. I really like the packaging but think that it only really needs one lid. Makes it a bit more environmentally friendly. I can be quite sensitive on my underarms but I had no irritation from this product so i would recommend the product to someone if they do have sensitive underarms. I also think that the price is quite expensive. I normally wouldn't spend more than about £2 on deodorant. I know that it's more natural so that tends to increase the price but I still don't think I would spend over £4 on deodorant. So overall I don't think I would purchase this product in the future. Sorry.

lotusisaddictive · 15/10/2016 18:44

Final feedback: Not for me really, just didn't like the fragrance and it didn't keep fresh all day. I think this may just be my body right now because even my normal deodorant is struggling, bring pregnant is lots of fun Grin.

Liked the design and the idea of no chemicals and I will try it again when breastfeeding.

squeezed · 15/10/2016 19:02

Unfortunately I couldn't get on with the scent of the product and found it quite unpleasant. It's a shame because I was hoping to be able to use a natural product.

icclemunchy · 15/10/2016 19:10

Final feedback. In its current form I don't think it's for me. I loved how gentle it was and it did stop me smelling. However I'm not a fan of the spray and I disliked that I still got sweaty underarms even if it didn't smell. Maybe I'm just too used to my roll on which stopped me sweating at all (as much as I don't think it's healthy) I'll use up the last of the bottle either way and might get one for the days I know I won't be too active

Solasum · 15/10/2016 19:22

It did make my underarms smoother and healthier.

But I just couldn't get used to how wet it is. I don't like the sensation at all. I would not buy this again, certainly not at the price.

Very interested to hear of other natural deodorants in cream or roll on form though!

Herecomethesun121 · 15/10/2016 19:38

I love it. This is now my new deodorant. It keeps me fresh and I love that it's natural and I'm not exposing my skin and my baby (im pregnant) to any unnecessary chemicals.

nc060 · 15/10/2016 20:22

I didn't like this product at all. Felt very wet going on and I felt it didn't stop the sweat smell as the day went on.

Feltedbump · 15/10/2016 21:32
  • What were your thoughts about the effectiveness of PitROK Extra Sensitive, given that it's a natural product?
Was pleased that it seemed to manage quite well on a normal day. Would recommend it to others. I did start a new (physically demanding) job! and found that I did sweat more. I didn't actually smell but wasn't used to being so sweaty underarm. I think if I was any more physical/needed to go back into an office after working or it was a really really hot day - I would revert to an antiperspirant. But since I shower daily I wasn't actually smelling. I like that it is unfragranced as it meant I could wear my perfume and not feel two scents were clashing.
  • Do you feel that PitROK Extra Sensitive has had an effect on either your sensitive skin or under arm irritation?
Did not cause any irritation to sensitive skin even after shaving. I would recommend it and will buy it again if I can find it. I think it needs to be explained that it works differently to other products or people will question its effectiveness. My main plus point was that it was a natural product and when pregnant/breastfeeding I would have definitely bought this product.
Pinkangel23 · 15/10/2016 22:12

I did want to like this product but it's not something I would normally buy. It does an effective job but takes a while to dry and isn't fragranced. Good luck with the rest of the trial.

georgieandjess · 15/10/2016 22:25

My final feedback is that it was quite effective and I did not have any irritation using it. I don't like the 2 lids and it is quite wet to put on. Overall I would buy it on offer but I would not pay full price

Macdat · 15/10/2016 23:54

I loved using this. I didn't know these natural deodorants even existed and I'm definitely converted. Whilst the smell was bad initially, I got used to it and stopped noticing it. Plus, as mentioned, it's gone quickly anyway.
It definitely had an effect on my armpits. I didn't know they could feel so fresh! I really love how light this is and how it disappears into nothing on your skin but still does it's job.
I know lots of people didn't like the two caps, but I did. Just makes it look neater. It doesn't stop leaks in bags though.

Overall I really liked it and I think I'll use it again in future.

sianihedgehog · 16/10/2016 02:44

What were your thoughts about the effectiveness of PitROK Extra Sensitive, given that it's a natural product?

I am pleasantly surprised by how well it works, however I think that rather than becoming more effective after the settling in period it has become less effective. I've noticed some odour a few times recently which has made me paranoid that I might just not be able to smell my own BO.

Do you feel that PitROK Extra Sensitive has had an effect on either your sensitive skin or under arm irritation?

I've noticed less trouble with my eczema than usual lately but it's really hard to tell if that is related or just a random thing. I haven't noticed any irritation or anything related to the deodorant, which is good.

I think I'll continue using the deodorant until it runs out, and possibly buy it again. I really like that it's completely unscented, so I can choose a perfume and not have to worry about it clashing with my deodorant smell.

Catherik · 16/10/2016 09:18

Having used Pitrok for a month now I am really impressed! Provided you follow the instructions and apply following a bath or a shower then it keeps you fresh for well over 12 hours. I shave my underarms and they are smoother with no irritation. I'm a new mum and it the natural smell seems to have aided breastfeeding. I would definitely recommend Pitrok.

OksanaFitzgerald · 16/10/2016 09:48

I loved using this product. I always tried to find a natural option for my armpits. I loved that it doesn't have any fragrance, so it doesn't mix with my perfume. It definitely had a great effect on my armpits. I felt so fresh! I would buy it again, but I would prefer a roll on deodorant.

BumpPower · 16/10/2016 10:40

Final feedback: really liked this product it survived a lot of hard service with me working in a super hot classroom! Will def keep using while a breastfeed and see if I can afford it after that!

Desmondo2016 · 16/10/2016 13:09

So I have finished the product testing and have completed the survey. Overall whilst there is nothing wrong with the product per se it has not impressed me so the niggles that I did have with it would put me off buying it again. These niggles being, the wetness, the smell, the double lid, the fact it's a spray and the expense. My irritation (caused by a dove roll on) had cleared up prior to the test when I had reverted to my old faithful 'Amplex' roll on. Amplex for me ticks all the boxes so I will be staying with it. Many thanks for including me in the product testing. I am sorry I have not been able to provide super positive feedback, but it is at least, genuine and honest!

postitnotes · 16/10/2016 13:21

Final thoughts: I liked it, but prefer using a roll-on. I sometimes forget to put deodorant on until I am dressed, so find a roll-on easier to use once dressed than a spray.
It was very effective, better than I'd thought it would be.
However it did sting on broken skin, which did clear up, but I am not sure if this was due to using PitROK.

Pickofthepops · 16/10/2016 16:02
  • What were your thoughts about the effectiveness of PitROK Extra Sensitive, given that it's a natural product?
I'm quite blown away as I haven't felt as wet under arm, despite it having been warm. I guess it shows that you don't need the harsh chemicals. Do you feel that PitROK Extra Sensitive has had an effect on either your sensitive skin or under arm irritation? All feels good but no issues just prior to using or during. Has been great for my tendency to nasal and respiratory irritation.
AliBingo · 16/10/2016 19:21

I liked the packaging apart from the funny lid. Didn't like the name. Found the smell quite mild but a bit odd.

I was really keen on the idea of no nasty chemicals but I am afraid it didn't really work for me. Maybe I am extra sweaty and smelly but my underarms felt damp and pongy quite quickly using this, it just didn't have enough strength or staying power.

xtoniax · 16/10/2016 19:58

I've tried using this product and initially I loved the idea of it, no more cloud of the fragrance hurting my asthmatic lungs. The bottle etc looks appealing in appearance too. However when I tested it, and followed the instructions perfectly, I found this irritated my skin worse than some of the deodorants i've used in the past. Also found that it didn't protect very well and after not very long I smelt like I hadn't showered at all. I also wasn't a fan of the smell of the product and felt it smelt a bit chemically.

whitless · 16/10/2016 20:28

After using this for probably just over 2 months I can honestly say I will never look back! It's the best deodorant I've ever used!
It took a few days to get used to the smell but after that it was fantastic, my underarms feel soft, they aren't irritated or itchy like they would be with areosols or roll ons.
I like the fact it's in a spray bottle as all you need is one spritz each side and you're good to go for the day!
I guess the only downside is that it's not fragranced! I would love to know where I can buy more of this stuff from!
I would recommend it to anyone with problem skin or irritating skin!

Sleeplessinmybedroom · 16/10/2016 20:36

I have to say when I first started using this I wasn't very impressed. I hated the smell and the wetness but now I'm used to it its good.

  • What were your thoughts about the effectiveness of PitROK Extra Sensitive, given that it's a natural product?

This worked really well at stopping sweat and body odour. I didn't sweat or smell once despite exercising a lot.

  • Do you feel that PitROK Extra Sensitive has had an effect on either your sensitive skin or under arm irritation?

My skin didn't flare up at all. I have very sensitive arm pits and can only use a few anti persperants without getting infected and sore. This was great.

cuntinghomicidalcardigan · 16/10/2016 21:15

My final review is a little mixed. I did find that my underarms are softer and I have had no problems with irritation for the whole time I've been using it, which is unusual for me. However I'm not keen on the smell and didn't always feel as fresh as I do with other deodorants. I probably wouldn't buy it at the advertised price.

Wheresmycider · 16/10/2016 21:24

I wanted to live this product, and for the first week or so it all seemed good. However, after a week or so I found that I simply was not comfortable without an anti perspirant.
The product is unscented, but still has a smell to it which I didn't mind, but my husband found unpleasant. While it kept body odour at bay, my underarms felt constantly damp and I found I developed a rash (though this may have been coincidince).
I really did want to love this, but it isn't one for me.

RaeSkywalker · 16/10/2016 21:34

Final feedback: love how soft my underarms are now! Not put off by the spray or drying time, or the smell. I am very put off by how badly it leaks though! I wouldn't buy it purely because it's such a faff cleaning up the leaks, and I don't trust it to be transported in a wash bag without leaking everywhere when I go away. Seriously though, if I spot an update in the packaging, I wouldn't hesitate to buy this.
