This is the feedback thread of the 500 Mumsnetters who are testing PitROK Extra Sensitive deodorant.

Here’s what PitROK have to say: “It’s a sensitive time being a New Mum. It can bring wonders and joy; but also nagging questions about our children’s environment and what’s good for our bodies. We spoke to 641 New Mums, and over 40% of them told us they had changed their Deodorant around this time to stop the irritation some Antiperspirants can cause; whilst enabling their bodies to perform more naturally. At PitROK we’ve been making naturally effective deodorant for over 20 years and many people swear by them. Please try our new Extra Sensitive deo - it’s been especially formulated by a Mum for New Mums.”

Having used the deodorant for several weeks now, I'm still very happy with the product. My only complaint is that to spray enough to make me think it's working you end up with it dripping down! I found it be very effective and happy with the (no) fragrance.

I would definitely buy it again so long as the price wasn't too high!

MrWriter · 14/10/2016 22:31

I really didnt like this product and I really wanted to. It had a horrible odour and I really didnt think it helped with perspiration. This is the product I want on the market, a natural deodorant, but it wasn't up to par.
Disappointed unfortunately.

icklekid · 15/10/2016 00:01

Updated review- still impressed as very sweaty whilst breastfeeding! Still struggling to aim spray 1st time. Have now lost a lid! Like it but not sure would pay £4 for more

firawla · 15/10/2016 01:00

Final feedback - although I wanted to like this product, because of it's natural ingredients and I liked the idea of it, ultimately I wouldn't switch from my normal roll on deodorants to this brand, because it just doesn't feel as effective compared to those so I don't feel confident using this in place of it. Also the price point is quite high when taking that into consideration.

BeautyBoo · 15/10/2016 01:19

I've enjoyed using the deodorant. It turned out to be a lot better than expected. I think it is a little overpriced and I would like it to have a nice subtle fragrance. However, it definitely helped prevent my underarms becoming sore and inflamed. Would definitely recommend Smile

malin100 · 15/10/2016 01:37

I really wanted to like this enough to stick with it but I just can't get used to/be confident having visible wet patches under my arms, whether they smell or not. I did find I still had a little odour some days but on the whole that side was usually effective.

Kmmac1980 · 15/10/2016 03:30

It didn't start well - despite two lids, the deodorant had leaked through the packaging. Am pleased with the product overall though. Do wish it was easier to actually aim/spray though (now appreciate the accuracy of aerosols) as pretty sure I'm missing large areas of my armpit! Will keep using as it doesn't seem to do that annoying thing of leaving a musty deodorant residue that appears whenever I get hot, making me feel unfresh and paranoid despite being well scrubbed! The real test will be when I'm back at work!

Allhallowseve · 15/10/2016 07:18

I stopped using it after a couple of weeks as I didn't like the smell. I prefer the fresh scents of spray deodorant so discontinued .

Chocolatekeepsmesane · 15/10/2016 07:18

Final feedback - for me this is a mixed review for the good points I liked the packaging, the smell was neutral but the big positive was that I was not allergic to it. My underarm skin did not react at all which is brilliant.
For the negative points when I applied it, it ran straight down my side. I ended up having to always apply it naked and having a designated towel to dry my side. However the biggest downside for me was that it did not stop me from smelling, which is the idea of using a deodorant.
Over all I was disappointed with this, I really wanted it to work fine for me.
I will not be using this product again.

  • What were your thoughts about the effectiveness of PitROK Extra Sensitive, given that it's a natural product?

It was good at stopping sweating and smelling!

  • Do you feel that PitROK Extra Sensitive has had an effect on either your sensitive skin or under arm irritation?
My underarm sling gets sore after shaving and pitrok did mean that there was no soreness.

However, despite its effectiveness I wouldn't buy it. It doesn't feel nice to apply - it feels too wet and I don't like the smell. I would recommend it to people with sore underarms or for someone looking for a natural product to use whilst breastfeeding, but it's not nice enough to use without good reason, in my opinion. (Sorry if that sounds harsh, I don't mean it to be, but I wouldn't choose to use it in favour of other deodorants unless it was necessary.)

SharonStrzelecki · 15/10/2016 07:24

Underarm sling?! I meant skin!

Alwayswaiting · 15/10/2016 07:27

Final feedback: been using the product consistently for the last few weeks now. I like the packaging, and the colours. On the positive, I fine the smell pleasant enough, and I don't smell of sweat whilst using it. On the negative, I do like the smell of the fresh smell aerosol deodorants but as a trade off, I do think my underarm skin has improved and benefitted from PitRok. I would buy it in the future.

HuggleBear · 15/10/2016 07:47

What were your thoughts about the effectiveness of PitROK Extra Sensitive, given that it's a natural product?

Positives-
I have been pleasantly surprised at how effectively this product has worked. Even during exercise I have stayed dry and smell-free.
It has made me realise how throat catching my usual aerosol deodorant is. It is awful using it now!

Negatives-
I don't like the 2 caps, the small one was chucked immediately.

The smell is awful even though it is 'fragrance free'.
The dampness on application. Leaves my underarms very wet which cocks up my morning routine as it takes ages to dry .

Do you feel that PitROK Extra Sensitive has had an effect on either your sensitive skin or under arm irritation?

I haven't noticed a huge difference in my underarm skin but although it is sensitive, it wasn't irritated when I started using the product and hasn't flared up.

Overall I think with a few adjustments- package, smell and maybe application method would make this product very good. I love that it is a natural product and I will definately recommended to new mums. Thankyou for involving me in this product test.

iamdivergent · 15/10/2016 08:17

What were your thoughts about the effectiveness of PitROK Extra Sensitive, given that it's a natural product?

I was surprised at how effective the product actually was especially given as I am a breastfeeding mum and seem to sweat alot. It did take a few weeks of use before I felt like I got on with the deodorant but once I did, it's been great.

  • Do you feel that PitROK Extra Sensitive has had an effect on either your sensitive skin or under arm irritation?

I tend to get irritation, especially when I shave or sweat alot (which I have been doing lately) but I have had none whilst using this product. My underarms are very soft and irritation free.

nippey · 15/10/2016 08:57

What were your thoughts about the effectiveness of PitROK Extra Sensitive, given that it's a natural product?

It stopped my underarm irritation but it wasn't effective in stopping odour and I couldn't get used to feeling sweaty!

Do you feel that PitROK Extra Sensitive has had an effect on either your sensitive skin or under arm irritation?

Absolutely, I had no irritation almost immediately after I began to use the product.

Such a shame it wasn't effective in odour control! I also didn't like the way it felt to apply.

Jenni2legs · 15/10/2016 09:59

I love this product, I'd like a fragranced version in a sensitive scent like rose.
It definitely keeps me smell free for 24hrs

MumToTiny · 15/10/2016 10:00

Unfortunately this isn't the product for me - I tried really hard to deal with both the smell and the leaving it to dry, but after a week I had to give up. I find the smell absolutely repellant - it does fade, but not quickly enough for me, and having to waft my pits about to make them dry was too much of a pita.
I don't like the two caps - far too many bits to lose, and the spray application is really hit and miss.
My morning routine doesn't always allow for a shower, so to test this I was having to wash my underarms in the morning in order to apply it - another pita.
Sorry pitrok - I'm sticking with my dove roll on.

lollylaus83 · 15/10/2016 10:34

After using this product for 4 weeks I am fairly impressed with the results. It certainly keeps sweat and odour at bay for the most part of the day. However this does start to creep back in by the evening. I wonder if this product would benefit from Being slightly scented to combat this problem? I would like to continue to use the product as it feels much kinder to my skin than the conventional, stronger anti perspirants that I would normally use.

DiggityDam · 15/10/2016 10:43

If applied per instructions, freshly cleaned skin, it worked well. I felt dry all day. However over the course of the trail I found it frustrating that if I wanted to freshen up but not shower and product was not effective and I resorted to using my husbands deodorant. For me this was a big negative considering it's aimed at new mums, the opportunity to shower can be hard to find.

I also realised that if my armpits were not smooth, hair free, it just did not work.

My armpits do feel softer which is pleasant but did find that when freshly shaven, it stung when applying the product.

Overall I don't think this is for me.

collette0409 · 15/10/2016 11:12

This spary is awesome it did stop my underarm irritation, But I don't think I will use it permanently. The odd smell may be because I pregnant as my husband could not smell anything. (I just used perfume or a perfume body spary to cover the smell) When first sparying PitROK it does take a time to dry and is very runny.
If the was in a roll-on and dry quickly I would use this all the time as it did stop the irritation But will keep using during my pregnancy as this is when my underarm irritation is the worst.

teabagsmummy · 15/10/2016 12:06

First impression liked the packaging but I ended up throwing the little cap inside the large cap away as I found it unessary packaging and kept forgetting to remove it.
I didn't find there was any smell whatsoever of this product so will be very handy when my baby is born so he can get used to my natural scent.
I'm still working 12 hour shifts as a nurse and it stayed effective through your my shift.
All in all I was very impressed with this product

anonymice · 15/10/2016 13:09

I would buy this deodorant. It worked for me (though not for stress sweat, but for everything else). It did not irritate my skin and I liked the smell. It was a bit odd getting used to it being so wet when it went on but I got used to it.

thebluefoxategreensocks · 15/10/2016 14:16
  • What were your thoughts about the effectiveness of PitROK Extra Sensitive, given that it's a natural product?

I felt it was effective and worked well for me.

  • Do you feel that PitROK Extra Sensitive has had an effect on either your sensitive skin or under arm irritation?

No irritation, which I have gotten in the past when switching brands.

Overall, I really liked it and may well switch to this brand all the time! Thanks for the chance to try it out! :-)

kod88 · 15/10/2016 16:15

First impressions - it's pretty basic looking, I didn't like the fact it was fragrance free, it also felt very sticky when sprayed on. Didn't feel very comfortable.

I didn't feel like it had any impact on the condition or sensitivity of my skin.

All in all it's a product I wouldn't buy at any price.

poopoopoo · 15/10/2016 16:16

For my final feedback I can honestly say I am impressed; no smelly pits for me, no irritation, baby is getting the hang of breastfeeding without any overpowering pongs! Great productGrin
