This is the feedback thread of the 500 Mumsnetters who are testing PitROK Extra Sensitive deodorant.

Here’s what PitROK have to say: “It’s a sensitive time being a New Mum. It can bring wonders and joy; but also nagging questions about our children’s environment and what’s good for our bodies. We spoke to 641 New Mums, and over 40% of them told us they had changed their Deodorant around this time to stop the irritation some Antiperspirants can cause; whilst enabling their bodies to perform more naturally. At PitROK we’ve been making naturally effective deodorant for over 20 years and many people swear by them. Please try our new Extra Sensitive deo - it’s been especially formulated by a Mum for New Mums.”

Testers, now that you've been testing the product for 3-4 weeks and given your first impressions on PitROK Extra Sensitive, we'd like you to complete this survey and answer the questions below:

  • What were your thoughts about the effectiveness of PitROK Extra Sensitive, given that it's a natural product?
  • Do you feel that PitROK Extra Sensitive has had an effect on either your sensitive skin or under arm irritation?

If you have any trouble with using the product or have any queries about PitROK Extra Sensitive whilst you’re testing, feel free to use PitROK’s Ask Alison feature where they will be able to answer your questions.

All testers who give the required feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Boots voucher.

My first impressions on this product where conflicting. I really like the design of the packaging but the smell and 'sticky' feeling left over after use I didn't initially like. However, after a few applications I didn't notice either of these things.

I have been using the product for around a month now and I really do like it. There has been some warm weather and I have also taken up running so have had some sweaty days and this deodorant has been brilliant. I was quite apprehensive at first and wanted to use my usual brand but I'm glad I never as there has been a real change in my under arm skin. I noticed how much softer the skin was within a few applications and I haven't suffered any irritation at all.

Overall I am really impressed with this product. Usually I buy whatever is on offer and don't have a brand that I stick too month after month. However, I think PitROK has converted me! I love this product, I will definitely use it again and recommend to my friends and family.

pinkrosexxoxxx · 14/10/2016 19:28

I do think pitrok was effective as a deodorant but I could not stand the smell. It didn't make any physical difference to my underarm

beachbaby18 · 14/10/2016 19:29

Used this for nearly 3 weeks now.

Love the fact that there are no nasties as my mum had breast cancer and got told to avoid deodorant with aluminium. This sounded like perfect solution as I'm also breastfeeding so like the fact it's natural.

It's quite drippy and wet when first sprayed but not a real problem. The smell was okay.

The only problem I encountered was that on very hot days or when I'd been doing lots of activities I suffered from smelly armpits. I got my teenage daughter to try it as wondered if it was just me but on active days she also suffered from slight body odour. Something neither of us suffer from after usual our usual brand of deodorant.

Nice packaging.

My initial impressions were mixed - the bottle looks pretty but had leaked a lot in transit despite the two lids, so obviously not very travel-friendly. I like the lack of perfume as I tend to avoid heavily fragranced products. Not so keen on the wetness - I usually use a roll-on so I'm used to quicker drying deodorants.

After having used it for a few weeks, I'm still not that keen on the wetness but have got used to it - I don't wait for it to dry completely before getting dressed as I don't have time, but it's never stained my clothes. I do like the PitRok - it has kept me fresh and I like to use more natural products, particularly while I'm still breastfeeding. I feel like my underarm skin is healthier for using it - no dryness or irritation. I'm not sure that I would permanently swap the convenience of a roll-on for the pump-action spray though, but I do think it's a great natural alternative while pregnant or breastfeeding.

TheShrew · 14/10/2016 19:37

I really liked this deodorant. I was pleasantly surprised at how well it worked (including on the hottest day of the year) and I liked the smell. The only downside was the consistency - I maybe like to put too much on but to apply the amount I do with a roll on left me with trickles of wet deodorant running down my sides. That could well be user error though Smile I didn't have any irritation problems so not sure about that side, but I'd defo recommend this to others and may well buy it in the future

HitsAndMrs · 14/10/2016 19:39

This isn't a product I would switch to unfortunately. Being a massage therapist I regularly apply deodorant throughout the day but the spray bottle doesn't allow me to do this under my top as the product is too wet and drips. The smell is fine and I love that it's natural.
If this was made as a roll on then I'd definitely use it but at the moment it's current form doesn't work for me. I didn't feel the product was strong enough and had to apply my own deodorant over the top.
I don't really have irritation other than being occasionally itchy; PitRok doesn't irritate at all and it's nice to apply before bedtime but as I said, not for during the day.

annarack99 · 14/10/2016 19:42

I was pretty impressed with the product, smelt good, sprayed well and seemed effective however would have been good to test it over the heat of the summer. No issues with underarm sensitivity before or after use.

goldenretriever1978 · 14/10/2016 19:42

I love the packaging of the product and the concept. I didn't mind the fact that it was a spray. I liked the slight fragrance. The issue for me was that it was not as efficient as the standard deodorants that I usually use. I do, however think that I charge around like a lunatic frequently. I would not buy it for this reason.

MrsIB · 14/10/2016 19:50

Now I've been using this deodorant for a while, I'm far more used to the smell. I like the fact that it is natural and also the fact it doesn't stink out the bathroom which is fab when you have two little ones who follow you everywhere! I'm still not sure about the whole drying time/stickiness! But it does keep me fresh and has helped my underarm irritation! So thank you for letting me test this product!

violetsmummy · 14/10/2016 19:52

I have continued to be impressed by the pitrok spray. I am not keen on the initial smell but it quickly disapears. I can honestly say I have never felt sweaty or smelly when wearing it. Will definitely buy again because it is so effective.

TheMrs04 · 14/10/2016 19:56

Absolutely brill! Having really sensitive skin I did have my doubts but after using it for around 3 weeks I couldn't ask for a better product! No irritation at all like I used to get from some products! Would 100% recommend

Whoateallthecheese · 14/10/2016 20:16

Really liked this product although I still prefer a roll on. Got used to the smell, and found the product really effective for a natural deodorant. No sweating or irritation at all.
Would buy again if the price was right but if it's going to retail nearer the £4 mark I'm afraid that would put me off.
Thank you for allowing me to participate in this product test.

My final feedback:

  • What were your thoughts about the effectiveness of PitROK Extra Sensitive, given that it's a natural product?
I thought it was pretty effective, I didn't really notice any difference in my underarms or perspiration from my usual Dove spray. Given that it's a natural product, I'd probably favour this over what I normally use.
  • Do you feel that PitROK Extra Sensitive has had an effect on either your sensitive skin or under arm irritation?
I don't think it made me any worse but I haven't noticed anything positive about my skin.
babypeach · 14/10/2016 20:43

As a natural deodorant I was very impressed with pitrock. Its kept me free despite not being choc full of chemicals.
It definitely didn't irritate my underarm skin and it generally feels less sensitive.

My only issue is that I prefer roll-ons personally but that is really my only complaint.

cait2695 · 14/10/2016 20:49

I thought this product was quite good apart from the weird smell! but it does fade ... I'm also not sure about the spray rather than the aerosol.

zarinebedford · 14/10/2016 20:56

I disliked the smell and tried to overcome this because the texture was pleasing but in the end I decided that this is def not for me due to the smell. A fruity smell would be better Flowers

Mouthofmisery · 14/10/2016 20:57

Have used the PitRok for the majority of my pregnancy and I am really impressed. I don't usually use a spray but it's been good. It dries quickly and I like that it is a pump spray so doesn't fill the whole room. The packaging is neat and practical. My skin has been really sensitive throughout this pregnancy and I have had to stop wearing make up (which I'd never leave the house without) and moisturiser but thankfully I have been able to continue using deodorant. I have not had white stains on my clothing and I have had no issues with body odour either! I feel reassured it's all natural and I am not applying harsh chemicals to my skin, especially while my baby is growing in me. I watch what I eat and drink carefully so it's good to know what I apply to my skin is also safe.

AnotherLove · 14/10/2016 21:10
  • What were your thoughts about the effectiveness of PitROK Extra Sensitive, given that it's a natural product?

I really hoped this would work for me but unfortunately not.
I sweated more than with my regular deo (which I expected as this isn't an antiperspirant) but didn't keep odour at bay at all.
I didn't mind that it was a spray but I didn't like the smell of the deodorant.

  • Do you feel that PitROK Extra Sensitive has had an effect on either your sensitive skin or under arm irritation?

A big positive was that it did not cause any irritation which is a problem that I have had with both natural and chemical deodorants in the past.

I'd consider trying other PitROK products to see if I could find something more effective for me.

WheresTheCoffee · 14/10/2016 21:10

What were your thoughts about the effectiveness of PitROK Extra Sensitive, given that it's a natural product?
I've used the crystal deodorant in the past, I hoped this would be easier to use.

  • Do you feel that PitROK Extra Sensitive has had an effect on either your sensitive skin or under arm irritation?
I have sensitive skin generally and experienced no irritation It's a small thing but waiting for it to dry made me not want to use the spray some mornings as I was late! Thanks for including me in the product test SmileFlowers
BumpPower · 14/10/2016 21:14

Anyone else love this and getting worried they won't want to wear another deodarant ever again (worried because i had always been happy with my 'cheapest one on the shelf" approach to buying deodarant.

CopperPan · 14/10/2016 21:32
  • What were your thoughts about the effectiveness of PitROK Extra Sensitive, given that it's a natural product?

I felt it was effective at preventing odours on most days but not for longer days when I had a lot of physical activities. I think it is fine to be used on a normal working day as for me that's mostly quite sedentary.

  • Do you feel that PitROK Extra Sensitive has had an effect on either your sensitive skin or under arm irritation?

I didn't experience any irritation at all when testing which I was pleased with.

PotteringAlong · 14/10/2016 21:40
  • What were your thoughts about the effectiveness of PitROK Extra Sensitive, given that it's a natural product?

I felt that it got more effective the more that I used it - it coped well with some warm days at the start and it now seems to be working really well.

  • Do you feel that PitROK Extra Sensitive has had an effect on either your sensitive skin or under arm irritation?

it left my skin lovely and soft. Not irritated at all as it can be. Will continue to use it:

lilwelshyrs · 14/10/2016 21:41

Generally really like the product. Have stopped using the larger lid and instead using the small one as it's easier to take on and off in a hurry!

Underarm skin feels lovely and smooth and I don't have any issues from shaving, either, any more. I have found that I haven't had any issues with body odour and the deodorant is really effective and more so than previous deodorants that I've used in the past.
I really like that it won't leave any marks on my clothing and that it's safe to use around my baby as it doesn't leave a residue in the air.

I am an active person - I horse ride daily and have an energetic 11 month old to look after. I feel it is good value for money as I use it daily and it still feels full!
Looking forward to seeing it on the shelves - I don't want to go back to my previous product!

woodwaj · 14/10/2016 21:46

Just posting a 2nd update after 3 weeks usage

  • What were your thoughts about the effectiveness of PitROK Extra Sensitive, given that it's a natural product? At first I really loved the product, after a few weeks I noticed a smell and became really conscious of it and it put me off using it, On days where it wasn't too warm, and I wasn't too active I really liked it but when I was active I felt gross and sweaty and eventually smelly. I also didn't like the spray it took too long to dry seemed forever when running late, if I didn't have a chance to shower in the morning it didn't work as well at all even when I washed and dried underarms.
  • Do you feel that PitROK Extra Sensitive has had an effect on either your sensitive skin or under arm irritation? My armpits did feel better for using it. if it was a roll on, smelt better and stopped the sweaty feeling id be converted, however I am disappointed to say I don't think ill be converted! However, I would consider it for temporary use when experiencing irritation.

Thank you for the trial.

Helloooomeee · 14/10/2016 21:47

I love it! I have had an occasional busy day where I have had a small amount of odour but I regularly suffer from underarm odour no matter what I use and I actually feel it had been greatly reduced since using this product. It takes a little while to dry but I love the smell and the packaging and it has lasted well so despite appearing slightly more expensive than my usual deodorant I think I'll be using this again as long as I can get hold of it without having to go out of my way to find it.
