This is the feedback thread of the 500 Mumsnetters who are testing PitROK Extra Sensitive deodorant.

Here’s what PitROK have to say: “It’s a sensitive time being a New Mum. It can bring wonders and joy; but also nagging questions about our children’s environment and what’s good for our bodies. We spoke to 641 New Mums, and over 40% of them told us they had changed their Deodorant around this time to stop the irritation some Antiperspirants can cause; whilst enabling their bodies to perform more naturally. At PitROK we’ve been making naturally effective deodorant for over 20 years and many people swear by them. Please try our new Extra Sensitive deo - it’s been especially formulated by a Mum for New Mums.”

Testers, now that you've been testing the product for 3-4 weeks and given your first impressions on PitROK Extra Sensitive, we'd like you to complete this survey and answer the questions below:

  • What were your thoughts about the effectiveness of PitROK Extra Sensitive, given that it's a natural product?
  • Do you feel that PitROK Extra Sensitive has had an effect on either your sensitive skin or under arm irritation?

  • What were your thoughts about the effectiveness of PitROK Extra Sensitive, given that it's a natural product?
Surprisingly effective. I was very impressed. I'm planning to continue using it and have recommended it to others too.
  • Do you feel that PitROK Extra Sensitive has had an effect on either your sensitive skin or under arm irritation?
I think so, yes.
mummytobecabz · 14/10/2016 17:10

Great product, has cleared up my underarm irritation completely, i would recommend this product to others with the same problems or just as a daily deodrant, would be nice to have a light fragrance to make me feel more confident about any potential underarm odour although i didnt actually find i had any odour.

LuckySantangelo1 · 14/10/2016 17:11

I really liked it. Smells good, effective at stopping sweat and odour. And a bonus was my armpits look a lot nicer; they were reminiscent of plucked chicken skin before and they look smooth now.

My only complaint was the packaging: not sturdy enough & leaked on transit & in my wash bag.

All in all a great product and I will definitely purchase it.

pinkDEpanter · 14/10/2016 17:12

I have really warmed to this product. I was apprehensive at first (not liking fragrance, or lack of) I've found it's done my underarms the world of good. I love the feeling I'm left with instead of the usual clumpy deodorant feeling. I do miss a fragrance though, that would be my one and very small negative. Other than that, a great product, that works really well, love the packaging and I'm really grateful I've had the opportunity to test this product Smile

MotherOfCats · 14/10/2016 17:17

I've never used natural deoderant before and was sceptical that it would work. However I was pleasantly surprised. PitROK was gentle, kind to my sensitive skin and mostly kept me dry and odour free. It didn't mark my clothes either which has often been a problem in the past. The downsides were that I found the bottle cap kept coming off which sometimes caused leaks and it didn't stop me sweating or smelling when I did any kind of more intense activity. I also didn't notice it getting more effective over time which I believe it's supposed to. After a day of rushing round after a baby, I needed to 'top up' with normal spray deoderant to feel fresh again. But this is still a better performance than i expected for a natural product. I also missed having a fragrance and find the brand name quite off putting.
I'd probably use it again if it was a comparable price to my regular deoderant and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone with very sensitive skin. But I'd still want another deoderant in my cupboard for top ups

NoisyLittleLion · 14/10/2016 17:18

I was initially very apprehensive of using pitrok, due to the fact I've tried many different brands of deodorant that have claimed to be for sensitive skin but have still caused irritation. I was pleasantly surprised that pitrok was able to help my skin irritation clear up.

I was also not keen on the fact that it was unfragranced and was rather dubious as to its ability to prevent body odour, more so because I gave a job where I'm on my feet constantly and can become quite sweaty. I did notice more perspiration but thankfully there was no body odour despite me fearing the worst on several occasions.

I do think I will continue to use pitrok once my trial bottle runs out.

Final thoughts compared with ordinary pit rock in the black bottle and salt of the earth natural deodorants:

Positives specific to this product: doesn't sting after shaving which my other natural deodorants do.

Positives similar to other natural deodorants I already use: doesn't catch in my thrust and make me cough. Natural ingredients. Doesn't give me itchy sensitive underarm skin. More effective than you might expect.

Negatives similar to other natural deodorants: takes a while to dry and can dribble.

Negatives specific to this product: I didn't like the smell at all. Slightly less effective protection than similar products I think - I have got sweaty and smelly quite a few times (though I'm heavily pregnant and we have had hot weather so it has had a hard test!). Perhaps best for winter/ordinary breastfeeding days rather than hot weather and heavy pregnancy. My husband and I usually share deodorants but he didn't want to use one aimed at women and kept using our normal pit too - I wouldn't want to buy double!

I would reccomend natural deodorants like this to pregnant and new mum friends. I would recommend they smell this particular one first if smells bother them in pregnancy or they have nausea. If the smell is ok for them and they shave this has the slight advantage if not stinging at all but I would say get whichever of these similar products is cheapest/on offer.

Thesoggybiscuiteer · 14/10/2016 17:19

Overall I liked the product, I liked that it was unfragranced so I didn't have to worry about clashes with my perfume.
I soon got used to the pump spray application. I had no bad reactions to it and my underarms feel much softer than normal. Overall the level of protection was good, I did find I smelt a little wiffy after some of my more active days but maybe I should have used more product on those days?! Only thing that puts me off converting is the higher price point but that may change once I've worked out how long it lasts in comparison to my old deodorant.

NiceCupOfTeaAndASitDown · 14/10/2016 17:23

I'm converted!!

Initially I had concerns that this product would be as ineffective as every other non-aerosol I have tried in the past, but I couldn't have been more wrong

I have wanted to try a natural product for some time. I have small children and don't want them breathing aerosols in, and I had concerns about the ingredients in my anti persperant and others on the market. I also suffer with occasional excema under my arms. But I've never found anything else effective at keeping my underarms dry and fresh smelling.

Pitrok has solved all of my concerns, I'm very impressed at its effectiveness and will be buying it in the future despite it being more expensive than my previous brand.

It's too soon to tell if it works for me in terms of sensitive skin because as I say it's just an occasional thing but I'm really pleased with pitrok and will recommend it and be a regular customer from now on. Thank you for the opportunity to try it out!

twolittleboysonetiredmum · 14/10/2016 17:23

I am really surprised by how much I liked this product as I really wasn't keen to start with.
My underarm irritation is pretty much gone which was the main reason I was keen to trial it. It's also been very effective. With normal anti persperant I generally smell after a long run, with the pitrok I didn't smell at all! I also really liked that there was no fragrance. Am a total convert and am currently trying to make my husband try it to.

ButterflyOfFreedom · 14/10/2016 17:28
  • What were your thoughts about the effectiveness of PitROK Extra Sensitive, given that it's a natural product?
I thought it was effective and did the job. It's good to know it is a natural product.
  • Do you feel that PitROK Extra Sensitive has had an effect on either your sensitive skin or under arm irritation?
I haven't seen much difference really though it hasn't cause any irritation (I didn't have any to start with but it's good it didn't produce any!).
LynseyH · 14/10/2016 17:34

I enjoyed being a tester! Thank you for letting me take part.

I thought it was a nice deodorant, it was gentle and easy on my skin but I did miss having a scented deodorant too. I feel fresher after my shower if I have a nice spray to use afterwards. The two lids was neither here nor there for me! The design is maybe a little basic and might not be eye catching to people who haven't tried it before...

Overall, it wouldn't be my first choice in the shop and I think the suggested price is a bit steep but it is a nice product. Just because it wouldn't be my first choice, it doesn't mean I wouldn't buy again and I certainly wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

I'd recommend to anyone with sensitive skin who prefers no scent as it is worth trying to prevent irritation. I had no adverse affects at all Smile

arianah2014 · 14/10/2016 17:38

Been using this product for a month now,I lrobably would recommend to my friends who dont like fragranced/scented deodorants. It's a bit pricey but if they had a promotion offer because it's a new product not on the high street ,pple will buy it cause the product itself is eyecatching more organic type of look.

Jessicar9593 · 14/10/2016 17:38

I have used this product for 3 weeks but will be going back to my normal sure roll on, it did not improve my skin irritation and was not strong enough to leave you dry all day even though the smell it gives it would make you think it would as it's so overpowering! The spray mechanism is not good as leaves excess dripping down the bottle leaving hands sticky. Will not use or recommend

hancockja · 14/10/2016 17:42

At first this deodorant did help with skin irritation and did leave my armpits feeling much better. However, it didn't always stop me from smelling when wearing certain materials. I feel it didn't offer as much protection against underarm sweat as some other deodorants out there.

fleaing · 14/10/2016 17:44

First things first, I really did not like the smell of it! It said it was fragrance free but it had a funny odour to it which reminded me of a hospital smell! Secondly I wasn't a fan of the spray to apply it, I'm so used to roll on that I found this a little difficult to use, especially in making sure it was evenly spread.

Other than those two issues the actual product itself was great and I saw a huge difference in my underarms. Going into this test I've always suffered with sensitive underarms but this helped a lot and reduced the irritation!

I was also pleasantly surprised with how it reduced my sweating. I was a bit dubious about that seeing as it wasn't fragranced or anything but it did actually work!

Overall it worked, I was just let down by the smell and spray of it.

joanne070479 · 14/10/2016 17:48

Final thoughts are although it cleared up my underarm irritation, which was fab by the way, I didn't really warm to the smell of it and how it takes a while to dry. Other than that it's very effective if you suffer sore underarms, like me, but if you like a scented anti perspirant then maybe this won't be for you.

lozaa · 14/10/2016 17:53

Thank you for letting me test the product my final thoughts on it are :
Although It didn't cause any irritation I disliked the length of time it took to dry and that when spraying it seemed to leak. I will be returning to my roll on as I prefer the coverage I get from it. On busy days I feel like it was not strong enough to cover the smell of sweat and disliked the dampness it caused.

ImBrian · 14/10/2016 17:54

I didn't find this worked well on me at all. I don't know if it's because I'm very active but it was not effective. I also much prefer a roll on or cream.

lilyboleyn · 14/10/2016 17:54

Was lovely for my skin, but I just couldn't deal with the sweat patches from wearing it. Also wasn't reliable and I found the need to change shirts to avoid smelling a bit unwashed (😳)

gammatron · 14/10/2016 17:58

What were your thoughts about the effectiveness of PitROK Extra Sensitive, given that it's a natural product? For me the product wasn't very effective. First impressions were good but after a few days I was getting sweat patches- I'm quite a sweaty person so normally use a 72 hour deodorant- a few days after stopping the 72 hour/ starting pitrok the sweat patches started to appear. I was happy to be using a natural product though so would recommend it to someone who doesn't sweat heavily

  • Do you feel that PitROK Extra Sensitive has had an effect on either your sensitive skin or under arm irritation? I have very sensitive skin but did not experience any irritation to this product
BreakHerOffAKitKat · 14/10/2016 18:03

Final thoughts - I love the packaging and like the smell but felt my pits felt a bit sticky after use and it takes too long to dry before I can get dressed. It was effective in as much as it stopped me getting BO but if it's going to be sold for £4 a time I doubt I'd buy it

jacrispy · 14/10/2016 18:06

I think it could be more fragranced but other than that it's good. I still sweat sometimes but I'd happy buy again as my underarms feels so much better and less spotty from ingrowing hairs. Overall a good product.

AnotherTimeMaybe · 14/10/2016 18:10

Final thoughts- loved it!!! It did take about 2 weeks to work as expected but can't do without it now so will definitely be buying it from now on !

JoseCohan2 · 14/10/2016 18:11

Liked the product, would prefer a fragrance. It worked well on my skin irritation but so does the product I currently use and it's more than half the price. Will probably mention it to people who ask if I know any products for irritation but I doubt I'll buy it myself. Confused
