This is the feedback thread of the 500 Mumsnetters who are testing PitROK Extra Sensitive deodorant.

Here’s what PitROK have to say: “It’s a sensitive time being a New Mum. It can bring wonders and joy; but also nagging questions about our children’s environment and what’s good for our bodies. We spoke to 641 New Mums, and over 40% of them told us they had changed their Deodorant around this time to stop the irritation some Antiperspirants can cause; whilst enabling their bodies to perform more naturally. At PitROK we’ve been making naturally effective deodorant for over 20 years and many people swear by them. Please try our new Extra Sensitive deo - it’s been especially formulated by a Mum for New Mums.”

I didn't write initial thoughts on it, so here's what I thought....
It looks attractive, I like the colour, style and shape of the bottle. I liked that there wasn't an overwhelming fragrance. I thought the spray was good and I haven't used deodorant like that before.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 13/10/2016 18:04

Pinklady Boots stock it (or my 2 local stores do) & I think it was just shy of £5.

I'm converted too, I picked some up when I was in town last week so that I don't suddenly find myself without any. My product test bottle still has around a 1/4 left in it though which I'm really impressed with as I've used it daily for almost 5 weeks, another reason for purchasing it.

Nicnac81 · 14/10/2016 16:17

After using this for a few weeks I have found that I no longer have irritation. It worked fantastically ( although I don't sweat much anyway

I would recommend for anyone who wants to use something more natural

Meinthecorner · 14/10/2016 16:17

Having used it for a couple of weeks now I am quite happy with how it has workeď. Most days I have smelt fine by the evening. My main problems were the runniness of the product - my armpits felt wet for much longer than normal even when I used less. I also disliked the smell of the product and it was quite offputting when applying. I would prefer a lightly scented roll-on product.

summerson · 14/10/2016 16:18

I love the product, but also like the security of a "regular" anti perspirant/deo, so I flick between brands usually! I don't really like the feeling immediately after application but it is great for sensitive underarms and I haven't had any itchiness or irritation while using it!

Didiusfalco · 14/10/2016 16:19

Well I've have finished the test, and I don't think I would buy it. I think I would prefer a product with some fragrance. This has an unpleasant smell, that I found lingered on my clothes. It didn't irritate my skin, but I would like something that didn't irritate my skin and smelt pleasant or at least odourless.

lillyfer · 14/10/2016 16:21

The product performs well, kept me dry and odour free, I liked the product I just feel the price is a little high compared to other products available.

Heavenscent86 · 14/10/2016 16:23

Here is my final feedback. This deodorant didn't work for me. I love the fact it's natural and paraben free but I dislike the spray and the wetness when you put it on. In addition on a mildly warm day I would feel sticky under my arms. I don't believe it would hold up to hot weather at all. I'm afraid I won't be buying it again for myself but if I knew anyone looking for a natural deodorant I would suggest they give this one a try.

CupofTeaTime · 14/10/2016 16:24

Really liked the deodorant. Stays quite wet for a while after spraying but it wasn't a big deal. Provided excellent perspiration and odour control. Overall an excellent product!

AdeleMcGilvray · 14/10/2016 16:27

What were your thoughts about the effectiveness of PitROK Extra Sensitive, given that it's a natural product?

I think that for a natural product it performed very well against chemical based products, however as my pregnancy has progressed I found that the product struggled more and more to cope with how much I perspire in an average day.

  • Do you feel that PitROK Extra Sensitive has had an effect on either your sensitive skin or under arm irritation?

In short, Yes. I've always had sensitive underarms that become irritated very easily. Using this product has improved this sensitivity which has been a welcome relief.

mandes1 · 14/10/2016 16:28

Hi there, Firstly i'll start with the positives. I have been using the Pitrok extra sensitive deodorant for a few weeks now and I have to say that it has definitely made a difference in terms of less sensitivity, particularly good after shaving which can't be said for some other brands. The delicate scent is also lovely and I like the fact that it is natural. The design is great and does speak 'natural' which I like. It does last a while.

The downsides are not too bad and can be lived with such as the double lids. I mean, it is not the end of the world but I don't see the need to have extra packaging when not overly necessary. It is quite a wet application, but again, I did get used to that, kind of adds to the freshness feeling. It might be overpriced at £4.00 but then many of the more natural niche deodorants are around that price -range.

I may buy it again if it were on offer. I might recommend to a friend if they were particularly sensitive under arms.

trumpybum1 · 14/10/2016 16:29

I found the product worked really well. No irritation. I just found it to be quite wet a free applying and it seemed to take ages to dry and I really didn't like the smell. I would be tempted to try again if the product was ever on offer as I feel the price point is quite high.

user1471466422 · 14/10/2016 16:30

I grew to like this less the more I used it. It is too runny, the smell is a bit odd, and it stings when applied to newly shaved pits, which my usual one doesn't. Also it doesn't work well on the occasions when I do actually do some heavy sweating. I'd prob be more interested if it was a roll on or solid product actually, ideally with a different fragrance.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 14/10/2016 16:30

I had no issues with the smell or the effectiveness of the deodorant in fact I found it very effective but I wouldn't buy it as I simply couldn't stand how wet it was and how it dripped down my side when applied. If it came as a roll on I would definitely buy it

zombeana · 14/10/2016 16:35

So, although this product did help with itchy /soreness I sometimes get, especially in this pregnancy I don't think I would convert to this, especially at the cost.

I didn't like the spray application and odd scent, I do like when my deodorant leaves a subtle fresh smell all day, it makes me feel fresh and clean. I felt a bit self conscious a few times when using as I wasn't sure if I smelt- probably due to it being scent free.

It did give me peice of mins re lack of chemical s though especially with scares around the impact these can have - and I breastfeed my 1 year old still so I did like that aspect.

If it smelt fresh and was a little cheaper I would use- even better if it was a roll on as the spray made me feel a bit damp!

Fingermoose · 14/10/2016 16:38

I'm really happy with pitrok and will definitely buy it again. I've had no underarm irritation and best of all no smell. I like the fact it's unfragranced as it means I can choose my own perfume - so many ladies' antiperspirants are horribly floral.

VelvetThunder · 14/10/2016 16:40

I have used the product for a few weeks now and I still love it. It works really well nd is so kind to underarm skin. I was really impressed overall. The only downside is that when sprayed on it's quite runny and can take a while to dry, however it is worth it. I agree a choice of a fragranced version would be nice too. I find the price quite high, although it's long lasting and for such a good product it will be worth it.
I much preferred this spray so much to the thick fog of fumes that a lot of aerosol sprays cause as I'm wary of that around my young children.
When I finish my test bottle I shall decide, however I think I'm a convert.

Icedsilhouette · 14/10/2016 16:40

I felt that this product worked really effectively. During the trial period I only once experienced sweaty armpits, and I was wearing more layers than ideal and carrying a baby uphill! It didn't irritate my skin at all, and in fact my armpit skin feels much softer now than it ever has before!

Gumgardener321 · 14/10/2016 16:41

My final thoughts on this is its not very good. Used it on a slightly warm day where I wasn't doing excessive exercise & it just wasn't up to the job. Has a funny smell, very wet when applying&not keen on the nozzle.
Felt a bit soothing & has a pretty bottle. Quite pricy as well. wouldnt buy

PippilottaViktualia · 14/10/2016 16:49

I loved that this was a natural and sensitive product. I had no irritation whilst using it.

I did dislike the smell when first applied, it reminded me of when my dog sneezes... I would've preferred a lightly scented version, something nice and fresh and natural smelling and only subtle enough to cover the initial dog sneeze smell.

The packaging was a bit of a pain and I threw away both caps as they were just a fiddly hassle. I didn't think the spray itself was that great, I would have preferred a finer mist with a wider reach.

One thing that I really didn't like was that if I did sweat whilst using it, I felt really wet under my arms and I'm not used to that with my usual antiperspirant, obviously this deodorant did work because I didn't stink, I just felt wet. I'm not sure if I really can cope with that going forward, I don't want to have to think about what clothes I'm wearing and if wet patches are showing, especially in the office.

Overall, I won't continue buying this particular product but I think I will try a PitRok roll on next and see if I prefer that to my normal roll on. I would definitely recommend to anyone who had any kind of underarm irritation though, it was excellent from that point of view.

melfly · 14/10/2016 16:55

Final impressions.
The smell is still vile. I really don't like it in the slightest.
It stings my armpits. Sometimes when I've shaved them and sometimes when I haven't.
I did feel a bit drier than if I were using regular deodorant.
I did smell if it were very hot or if I had been exercising.

I missed not having a nice smell in my armpits as I dont wear perfumes deodorant is really the only fragrance I have.

All in all I dont think I will switch completely to pitrok but may invest in some if I am ever pregnant/breastfeeding again

YvonneH99 · 14/10/2016 16:56

I can't say that I'm particularly impressed with this new deodorant. As a sufferer of dry itchy skin I was willing to participate to see if this was a new wonder product that would help.
Upon first use I wasn't impressed with the smell. I know it is supposed to be scent free, however there is a definite scent there and not particularly pleasant. However I kept on with the use.
I can't say that I was particularly impressed with the product keeping me feeling dry and fresh and compared to my usual deodorant this didn't improve over the weeks I tested it.
I think comparing it to my usual in price, smell and doing what it should I really wouldn't bother to use again. Quite disappointed but was worth a go!

murzite · 14/10/2016 17:01

First I didn't like it as I usually have used roll on deodorant. But with few days in to testing I start to get use to it and love it, as it's left my under arm skin very soft.
As new mum to few weeks old baby it was important I did not use anything with strong smell in it, this was perfect solution.
I will continue to use it :)

Abis04 · 14/10/2016 17:03

After using it with the trial, I would definitely recommend it for skin irritation - not once have I had any problems and feel that it's a gentle and kind product on skin.
However, I swear quite a lot and so even though it did decrease sweating, it didn't stop the smell!
Overall a good product that I would recommend to others but I would prefer something more frangranced myself!

Pumpkinmoon · 14/10/2016 17:04

My final thoughts:

After the initial first few days of feeling quite wet and sweaty and almost giving up on it PitROK really surprised me and did a very good job!

I found that 4 sprays under each armpit was the right amount to work well for me. Also TMI but it also worked very well on my Caesarean section "overhang" which sometimes gets sweaty which I hate.

My armpits feel softer than ever with no itching or dryness caused by many other deodorants.

I didn't like the fact it was unperfumed though and this is the only deterrent from me purchasing PitROK and using it in the future.

The design of the packaging isn't to my taste either so I probably would not have bought this product off the shelf if it hadn't been for the trial.
