This is the feedback thread of the 500 Mumsnetters who are testing PitROK Extra Sensitive deodorant.

Here’s what PitROK have to say: “It’s a sensitive time being a New Mum. It can bring wonders and joy; but also nagging questions about our children’s environment and what’s good for our bodies. We spoke to 641 New Mums, and over 40% of them told us they had changed their Deodorant around this time to stop the irritation some Antiperspirants can cause; whilst enabling their bodies to perform more naturally. At PitROK we’ve been making naturally effective deodorant for over 20 years and many people swear by them. Please try our new Extra Sensitive deo - it’s been especially formulated by a Mum for New Mums.”

Testers, now that you've been testing the product for 3-4 weeks and given your first impressions on PitROK Extra Sensitive, we'd like you to complete this survey and answer the questions below:

  • What were your thoughts about the effectiveness of PitROK Extra Sensitive, given that it's a natural product?
  • Do you feel that PitROK Extra Sensitive has had an effect on either your sensitive skin or under arm irritation?

If you have any trouble with using the product or have any queries about PitROK Extra Sensitive whilst you’re testing, feel free to use PitROK’s Ask Alison feature where they will be able to answer your questions.

All testers who give the required feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Boots voucher.

Thanks, and good luck!

I am not sure when we are next meant to give feedback, but I am sold- this stuff is great. It works better than other Eco stuff I have used and I like it is a spray as some others I have tried are a solid that you have to apply when your underarms are still wet- and I never remember at that point.

The only think I would prefer is a scent - it is not odourless, itnhas an odd smell and it comes back when you get warm. Almost like dried dribble or something. That said the smell is not too strong and I can only really smell it if I like my arms or deliberately sniff.

I have struggled since pregnant with my first born in 2013 to find a safe deodorant. I feel like I have spent the last three years self conscious about smelling bad- so I am delighted that this works and I would certainly buy it again. I think the bottle will last me a couple of months - the spray is quite narrow so I spray each armpit twice and the bottle still feels pretty full after a couple of weeks.

Babyiwantabump · 07/10/2016 10:35

I don't think this is working for me . It might be because I am breastfeeding a baby and a toddler so am extra hormonal and so extra sweaty at the moment- had been struggling to keep it under control with my normal deodorant and I am finding I am getting a bit pongy with this by mid day. Will keep persevering though!

iamdivergent · 07/10/2016 11:02

Also finding that I'm starting to smell by mid morning Blush

daylight · 07/10/2016 15:19

I'm starting to like this! I'm getting used to it. Yes I sometimes spray too much but there's no colour to the spray so I don't mind it dripping down my side. The best part is I don't smell any more! I smell neutral and I haven't felt this good in a long time! There's no bo smell or funny deodorant smell. I feel confident and happy! Thank you for letting me try this! I still have plenty of use left!!

Abis04 · 07/10/2016 15:19

I have to say that after using this for a few weeks now that I'm finding it successful in stopping the sweat, but I am a bit self conscious about the frangrance. There is a bit of an odd smell about it and I wonder whether it might be better with some sort of natural, light fragrance.
I also feel that a light frangrance would make me feel fresher!

arianah2014 · 07/10/2016 20:09

Stopped using this product feeling itchy has anyone had the itch???

Laineypopps · 07/10/2016 20:30

I have been using the product for 3 weeks. I am having some success with the product and, on most days, I have had no odour and wetness has been manageable. There have been a few days that I have noticed some body odour in my underarms but I am wondering if this could be due to increased hormones whilst breastfeeding.
Overall, I do like this product. I have had less underarm irritations, fewer ingrown hairs and I mainly feel fresh. I would definitely consider buying again.

danigrace · 07/10/2016 23:29

Have been using for 3 weeks now and would totally switch to this product. I've grown fond of the natural aloe vera scent and I am amazed that this actually works on me (I'm a sweaty lady Blush ), not only does it work, it works well. I've unexpectedly found myself feeling more confident about knowing I'm not stinky no matter what the day's thrown at me lol. And as 'normal' deodorants hit the back of my throat and don't feel at all healthy in my lungs I'm extra glad to now have a much healthier alternative.

chibsortig · 09/10/2016 07:33

After using it for a few weeks i have found it works to stop the bo smell however i am not sure i am keen on the sweaty bit.
My underarms are much healthier though, they dont itch or arent sore ffrom using it.It doesnt mark my clothing either which i s a bonus.
It is hard getting used to it after years of using scented harsh products.
I will definitely buy this for my 10 year old Dd instead of getting her the harsher scented products for as long as i can-- until she wants the same brands as her friends.

user1470426914 · 09/10/2016 21:06

After using it for a few weeks I find it really works for me. With my old deodorant I found I was smelling by lunchtime, why is it u sweat so much more when breastfeeding?, but with this I don't smell at all! I still sometimes manage to spray it on so that it runs down under my arms though! I like the smell and have not experienced any irritation with it. I would definitely buy this product.

Khaleesi1315 · 09/10/2016 23:30

i've been using this everyday since the day after I received it and I can honestly say I'm in love with this product I'm a runner and even deodorants made purposely for athletes don't quite cut the mustard this product was made for me yes I still sweat (though I don't think as much) I never smell I run 10k every night and I've not smelled once my underarms feel so much smoother they no longer have that angry irritated look and I'm no longer uncomfortable at the end of the day the only problem I have is the having to put it on clean skin I like to shower at night I was a bit skeptical but I've found that i can put it on at night and it lasts during the day I'm so happy with this product and will continue using it thank you so much for allowing me to review this product It's been a real game changer for me

MotherFeeder · 10/10/2016 06:54

This could be a coincidence but has anyone developed a underarm rash?

SpecialStains · 10/10/2016 14:33

I received the Pit Rock Sensitive deodorant sample in the post a month ago now. I am 25 years old, very active and have a newborn baby. I have never previously tried a natural deodorant and I’ve been using it twice a day (after my morning shower, and before bed) since receipt. It’s advertised as being great for pregnant women and new mothers. This has made me, as a first time Mum, feel very comfortable about using it while breastfeeding.

The spray bottle it comes in has a nice and clean look and I like the colours used. The spray itself is a little wet on application and does take around 30 seconds to dry. It might be improved by coming as a roll on. It has a pleasant and clean smell and, unlike conventional deodorants, does not leave any residue on the skin, and doesn’t leave any scent lingering on my baby (new Mum’s understand how easily babies retain the smell of anyone who wears perfume and holds them!).

On lazy days at home with my newborn, this deodorant does the job perfectly and I don’t feel sweaty, despite feeling a little warmer than usual while I’m breastfeeding. I would recommend it for this purpose and give it a 9/10 (knocking off 1 mark for the wet application) for use. I think it would also be useful for those with jobs where they are sat down for most of the day.

However, as previously mentioned I am an active person. Since baby has been born, we have been regularly walking several miles a day in a hilly city with the pram. We have also been swimming, climbed a mountain and I’ve performed in choir concerts. Under more strenuous situations, I do feel more perspiration than when using conventional deodorants, although not much more so. For more active or stressful situations, I would rate it as 6/10.

Overall, I do like this product and my overall rating would be 8/10, and I will continue to use and buy it myself while breastfeeding my baby and afterwards. However, once my baby is weaned, I may use a traditional deodorant in addition to this on occasions when I need to ensure no sweat will show through my clothes.

Ndd666 · 10/10/2016 21:00

I liked this product and didn't feel as sweaty as with a traditional deodorant but the smell really put me off. If this product came out with a light fragrance I'd definitely buy it but at the moment I wouldn't because I found the odour of this product off putting

Cuppachaplz · 10/10/2016 21:28

I've been using this for about 3 weeks now and am really impressed. I was skeptical as to whether it would actually work following experiences with a similar product a few years ago.
I have used daily after showering as instructed, and during the last 2 weeks I have returned to work full time (I have quite a physical job) and am still feeding 2 babies and expressing day and night, so it really was put to the test.
My skin has not been irritated by this (many things do, leading to huge brand loyalty on my part), and I was truly amazed that it really works.
I would definitely buy again Smile

horseylady · 11/10/2016 17:19

I am still a bit sweaty but there is no smell. Think I would be more comfortable if there were an anti perspirant. However, in winter, at work it's ok. No rash or itchiness which is just great!! I would use it again for sure.

BonniePippin · 11/10/2016 17:38

I've been using this product for a few weeks now, I didn't get around to writing my initial thoughts before now because the product was actually delivered whilst I was having my baby!

The packaging looks really nice, I quite like the design with the two caps (and can see why its practical as the product is very liquid). On spraying the product on I wasn't keen on the fragrance. It wasn't unpleasant exactly, but it didn't appeal. Also I wasn't sure how much of the product I was actually getting in place, it was difficult to direct and then would dribble down. At the end of the first day I felt that I smelt. Not good, but I decided to persevere with it, baring in mind the adjustment period from my old products.

I've recently had a baby, as mentioned, and am breastfeeding. I'm not being particularly active at the moment, due to the breastfeeding. I've been using this product everyday, as directed.

Honestly? I really wanted to like it, but both the odd fragrance and the fact that I smelt at the end of the day put me off. I did ask my husband whether I smelt of sweat, which was my worry, he said not but that I smelt of perfume or something. I can only assume its the fragrance of the product? Or maybe its changed the smell of mybsweat, who knows?

It has had some tough things to deal with, I have a colicky baby with allergies and have had mastitis, both things which are tough on products. But it wasn't for me. Maybe as my baby grows up.

Positively though, no rash or irritation and my daughter wasn't bothered by the smell.

chubbyteacher · 11/10/2016 19:20

I like the simple packaging and the fine mist spray. The smell didn't make much of an impression on me. It did say not to apply to broken skin but as I always shave my underarms in the shower it did occasionally sting a little on application. I did think it took a while to dry but I may have been over-applying. I was surprised at how un-sweaty I felt through the day, given that I'm used to using an antiperspirant. A great first impression.

snowsuit · 12/10/2016 13:19

I have been putting on the Pitrok after my morning shower and find that it works really well throughout the day, although occasionally by the evening I feel like I'm a bit sweatier than normal. I like that it's a non-aerosol spray, but I'm still not keen on the smell at all - would far prefer something fresher, and it has quite a chemically tang I think (although I'm sure that doesn't reflect what's in it). No irritation when applying it, which is great. I must add that I'm basically sat around waiting for my twins to arrive at the moment so not very active at all, so I can't comment on how well it works after exercise, etc. My biggest bit of feedback after using it for a few weeks is to change the smell - maybe some nice essential oils?

peaceloveandbiscuits · 12/10/2016 13:29

Having used this for a while now, I'm sad to say that I don't get on with it. During the trial I've discovered that I'm pregnant, so maybe I'm sweating more or differently, but unfortunately I don't feel it protected me well enough, compared to my usual anti-perspirant. Like a PP I did really want to like this product! I will keep hold of it and try it again when I've given birth to see if it suits me better then.

Thanks for the opportunity to try it!

happy13 · 12/10/2016 14:15

I have found this pitrock deodorant overall a great product,it does the job it meant to do well.At first I disliked the scent of this as I stated in my initial post for 1st mpressions, but it doesn't bother me now,I have got used to the scent.I have also got used to the amount to spray as when I first started using I found applied too much, and it took ages to dry and made my arms feel sticky, till dried.
it doesn't block pores which is evident by the fact you still sweat a bit,but stops body odour by neutralising bacteria, your body is meant to sweat,so this is a good thing. The packaging I found great it really stands out.The great thing, with this is its recommended for new mums like me,pregnant through to breast feeding, those with sensitive skin,it is not tested on animals and is also has no animal products so will suit many needs.I don't like using chemical deodorants especially when breastfeeding as the proximity to where baby feeds.
One thing I still was not keen on was the need for the two lids, the inner lid was chucked as seemed like chocking hazard,as could easily get lost.maybe if two lids needed the second could be attached so it's an all in one double lid.
I even got my husband to test as he did not believe it could work that well, his opinion changed,as it works well for him so much so,that he is continuing using pitrock.
Overall I would definitely recommend, and will continue using in my household.

JustineBMumsnet · 12/10/2016 16:05

Hi all, thanks for giving your initial feedback. PitROK have a message for you addressing most of the concerns people have mentioned. We'll be in contact shortly asking for your final feedback if you haven't given it already and sending out a link to the survey you'll need to fill out as a part of testing Smile

"Firstly, we really hope you’ve enjoyed some success in trialling our new Extra Sensitive product.

Your feedback has been invaluable for us. It’s certainly prompted lots of positive discussion here to improve a product which we hope, is already doing a good job.

We wanted to pick up a few points that have come up throughout the trial, in an attempt to help you better understand us and let you know how you have already made a difference.

The ‘second cap’ or the ‘inner cap’. Firstly, it’s recyclable. It’s also aids part of the production process and helps the product transport better. So please feel free to discard it once you have opened the product for the fist time. I know many of you have; useful to know it can cause confusion, so thank you. The bottle is also recyclable after use too.

The fragrance. Whilst this is designed as a Fragrance Free product, naturally the ingredients will emit some smell. It’s designed to quickly dissipate and therefore allow your normal/preferred fragrance to stand alone. We’re already looking into a lightly fragranced version of the Pitrok Extra Sensitive - and we hope to gain further feedback from consumers throughout future testing. Also, we already have two highly rated fragranced roll-on’s Gold and Berry Burst - equally natural and effective. We hope you might try one of these and let us have any feedback via our website or social media. Keep letting us know what you think.

The ‘runniness'. Admittedly, it can be a little disconcerting when you first try Pitrok spray, especially if you prefer roll-on’s or creams; and we do know people can sometimes apply a little more than is actually needed at first. Regardless, we are already looking again at the spray mechanism to see if we can get a better, finer ‘mist’. We also know that roughly 25% of people prefer a roll-on; and we are now into the final stages of developing one. We hope this will be launched in the next few months. Naturally, we’d love you to let us know what you think of it too.

When to use…? Clearly after bathing - whether it’s a bath, shower or quick freshen up in the washhand basin; just apply as often as you like to keep you clean, fresh and your body working at it’s natural best.

Finally, thank you again for taking part, I hope we have relieved discomfort from Under Arm Irritation and helped convert you a more ‘natural’ way to deal with perspiration, even better if you become a PitROK devotee and keep passing it on..."

OhIfIMust · 12/10/2016 16:44

Hi, just to say I've used this for a month now and I've had to revert back to a normal antiperspirant. Although I didn't start to smell I couldn't get used to having damp armpits... I really did like the product smell though. Perhaps the roll-on you mention might be better overall?

rachaelsit · 13/10/2016 15:53

I still find the product great. I find it dries fairly quickly and most importantly it's effective for me

Pinklady1981 · 13/10/2016 16:13

I am still using the product and have been converted!! Where can you buy it and how much is it please?? I don't know about anyone else but i am certainly shaving less Smile
