This is the feedback thread of the 500 Mumsnetters who are testing PitROK Extra Sensitive deodorant.

Here’s what PitROK have to say: “It’s a sensitive time being a New Mum. It can bring wonders and joy; but also nagging questions about our children’s environment and what’s good for our bodies. We spoke to 641 New Mums, and over 40% of them told us they had changed their Deodorant around this time to stop the irritation some Antiperspirants can cause; whilst enabling their bodies to perform more naturally. At PitROK we’ve been making naturally effective deodorant for over 20 years and many people swear by them. Please try our new Extra Sensitive deo - it’s been especially formulated by a Mum for New Mums.”

Testers, now that you've been testing the product for 3-4 weeks and given your first impressions on PitROK Extra Sensitive, we'd like you to complete this survey and answer the questions below:

  • What were your thoughts about the effectiveness of PitROK Extra Sensitive, given that it's a natural product?
  • Do you feel that PitROK Extra Sensitive has had an effect on either your sensitive skin or under arm irritation?

If you have any trouble with using the product or have any queries about PitROK Extra Sensitive whilst you’re testing, feel free to use PitROK’s Ask Alison feature where they will be able to answer your questions.

All testers who give the required feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Boots voucher.

Packaging looks nice, and I definitely prefer the pump spray to a roll on. Sometimes the spray seems very wet, does take a while to dry, but not sticky. Slightly medicinal smell when wet but not noticed any scent once dry. Seems pretty effective so far, killer Pilates class tomorrow then a hilly dog walk so will see how it copes!

Stargirl84 · 30/09/2016 20:07

I like the way it feels and doesn't sting or itch. I'd be interested to know how much it costs to buy - will it be a similar price to other deoderants on the market?

sharond101 · 30/09/2016 20:27

I am not so keen on this, smells medicinal sprays inconsistently and doesn't cover the whole underarm with one spray. It took too long to dry in for me to patiently wait and although it is effective (think double buggy big hill on a hot and humid day) I wouldn't buy it.

Monkies7 · 01/10/2016 00:00

I used this product in accordance with the instructions (ie on clean skin) but found that it applied very wet and didn't dry as quickly as the bottle states. I also found that it smells a little chemically on application. Unfortunately, it didn't keep me fresh all day as I felt a bit smelly by the late afternoon so I topped this up with my usual product. On the positive side, it was very good to know that this product didn't contain any nasties that would affect my baby when breastfeeding so I would still use it for that reason.

Pumble · 01/10/2016 19:05

I started using this late as I needed to be sent a replacement but I've been really impressed. I like the scent and it's really helped my irritated underarm skin. I do find it very frustrating it can Only be put on clean skin as I often shower at night and then do the school run in the morning before having my morning shower so can't use it then. So far I really like it though.

raviolig · 02/10/2016 08:10

After using the PitROK for several weeks I am very pleasantly surprised. I was worried I would end up being more smelly than usual but actually it has been very effective. I am breastfeeding so am very careful about what I spray or put on my skin. This has made me feel like I have found a suitable alternative to what I have used for years. I will definitely be buying this again.

Desmondo2016 · 02/10/2016 08:40

I'm tending to default to my previous deodrant(amplex roll on). I don't know of it's my pregnancy nose but I've started finding the smell really unpleasant.

allybird1 · 02/10/2016 20:24

Its fab.love it. Hope the bottle lasts for the 3 to 4 weeks we are supposed to be testing. :)

Leanna86 · 03/10/2016 16:00

I've been using the deodorant for about 2 weeks and what a difference. I have tried other crystal deodrants and they haven't worked so was a bit dubious about this one but it works. There is a subtle smell but that goes. It does dry quickly but it makes my husband laugh when I'm standing there with my arms up.

JackieG87 · 03/10/2016 16:09

So far I am very impressed by this product, I love the fact it is a pump spray and not a can, its not too potent so I can use in the same room as my children without gassing them out! Its very gentle on the skin and very refreshing too so all in all its a great design, great product and does exactly what it says it does!

MrsIB · 04/10/2016 10:46

My first impression of this deodorant was good; the packaging was appealing (although it had leaked!) Spraying it was a bit weird as I'm so used to an aerosol deodorant. I wasn't too keen on the wet feeling (plus I worried how much or little i should spray as I couldn't see any instructions, plus I didn't want to stink!Confused) And the smell reminds me of Water Wipes (which I notice have the same grapefruit extract!) But I have gotten used to it and it doesn't seem to be causing any irritation. Just got to get used to the sought sticky feeling til it dries! Grin

Vikiib · 04/10/2016 13:12

My first impression was that it goes on very wet and doesn't dry quickly so need to put it on well before you get dressed! Two caps does seem a bit excessive and puts doubt in my mind for packing it in a suitcase - are they expecting it to leak? Personally I found it didn't work that well for me and left me feeling damp underarm for most of the day. Hopefully it will improve as these are first impressions!

PinkFlufff · 04/10/2016 14:08

I really like this, reminds me of when I was a young teen and using body sprays as deodorant. Seriously though, it does go on wet but I don't wait for it to dry, I just get dressed like I would with a normal aerosol and go about my day, it still works for me. It's good at preventing smells and sweat, we're quite active and it's worked just as well as my preferred brand.

snarferson · 04/10/2016 19:55

I've been using a few weeks and seems to be working again. I love the way I can spray it in the same room as my daughter and not worry as I used to dash into a different room to put deodorant on.

As pp have said it would be nice to have some instruction or a recommended amount of pumps. Still hating it going on wet but could live with this for the benefits.

Chocolatron · 05/10/2016 12:36

I have mixed opinions on this product after using it for a few weeks.

I really like the fact that it doesn't smell of anything. I have a squirmy bf 15 month old who likes to stroke my armpits whilst feeding (little weirdo) and with a conventional deodorant, I hate this as obviously it get all on her hands. Knowing that this product is natural and safe for her is a big bonus.

It is wet when you first put it on but it dries quickly enough and doesn't stain clothing so not a huge deal really.

The packaging is nice, I like the white and green and think it would be eye-catching in a supermarket or in boots.

I'm never really sure about how much coverage I'm getting with it. The spray doesn't go far and seems to 'blob' in one spot rather than spray so I spray it a lot more than I think I should.

It has taken a while to get used to not smelling that nice perfume-y smell you get from conventional aerosol deodorants when you start moving around a bit. My job involves lots of walking and leaning over/around people so I was paranoid at first. I don't think I've smelt bad during this time so it must be working.

Overall, I do like it. Depending on the cost of it I would probably seriously consider buying it to at least wear to bed after a shower. I'm not sure if I can give up my lovely smelly deodorants during the day though.

eatsleepfeedrepeat · 05/10/2016 13:55

Found this really strange to use to begin with, didn't feel like deodorant and so felt as if I was going out with none on. Like the smell, a bit grapefruity and fresh. Was surprised not to smell or be overly wet under the arms after use. However wasn't sure exactly when to apply, as with small baby don't always have time for a shower until afternoon/ evening, and wasnt sure if I should apply in morning as usual or not. In the end this led me back to using my usual deodorant in the mornings, defeating use of the pitrok. Might give it another try though as was pleased with effects and lack of itchiness.

socktastic · 05/10/2016 16:04

I've been using this for a month now and I can give a more rounded and balanced opinion.

Pros:
It's a very effective anti-perspirant. I'm a bit of a sweaty Betty and it's done a great job at keeping me dry.

It also works on my feet. I will continue to test this over winter when my need for thick socks leads to sweaty, smelly feet.

I like the packaging design. Simple but pretty. It would catch my eye on a supermarket shelf.

Cons:
I'd like it to be more heavily scented. I feel that where it keeps me dry, it doesn't keep me smelling lovely. I still need to use body sprays to make me feel as if I'm smelling nice.

I'm not a big fan of the pump action. I'd prefer an aerosol spray.

I don't really like how it goes on so wet. I have to walk around with my arms at right angles to my body when I'm getting ready in the morning. Especially with a demanding baby.

The demanding baby also demands that I spend all morning with him so I often do not get a morning shower so the advice only apply after showering is rather difficult to follow.

All in all I think I will be sticking to sure for just now.

RaeSkywalker · 05/10/2016 18:14

Ok, a bit more feedback from me.

I knew that the packaging leaked, but it was ridiculous over the weekend. We went away for a short break, 2 hours drive away. The PitROK was in my wash bag. I also put it inside a plastic bag as I was expecting it to leak a little.

When I unpacked, I opened the plastic bag- and product went everywhere. This wasn't a little leak. It soaked my socks and left a puddle on the bathroom floor! Obviously this is less than ideal. Very little was left in the bottle.

On the way home, I put it in a cup holder to keep it upright. It still leaked! It's now back in our bathroom cabinet- upright, and still leaking.

I'm so torn! I love the product- my underarms are in the best condition they've been in for years. But I'm getting fed up of mopping up leaks. If I'd paid full price for it, I would be really annoyed and unlikely to buy again, purely because of the mess and how much is wasted. Maybe I have a faulty pump?

sharonad01 · 05/10/2016 18:59

First impression (one week use):
Very happy to see that there isn't any artificial perfume in the ingredients list. Not a great fan of the smell, but it isn't dominant anyway. The deodorant is very easy to use, few sprays on a clean skin, let it dry and you're good to go. The results are amazing! Got to try it during a very hot week, and I didn't had any smell at all! I was sweating but the sweat was odourless, no matter how active I was. So happy!!!

My review at 3.5 weeks use:
I've officially found the perfect deodorant! It is literally everything I could ask for and it is natural! It didn't irritate my (sensitive) skin at any point and I'm not bothered about the deodorant smell anymore, it just fades away after few seconds. It is so much easier than my current solid crystal deodorant (by another brand), as it can be used on a dry skin. A little goes a long way, I've been using daily it for almost a month now and I've used only half of it. I can't recommended it enough! X

Macdat · 05/10/2016 20:46

I've been using it for a while now. I'm really enjoying it now. My armpits feel great now. Just really fresh feeling. It still feels weird when I put it on though, just because I'm so used to other deodorants.
I don't worry about if I'll smell anymore. Before, I was really worried it wouldn't be working because of how light it feels to put on, but I've got a lot more confidence in it now.
Still have not had a proper opportunity to test on my feet yet. Only on a normal day, and not when I had thick socks or heavy boots or something on. I can't wait to try it on my feet though.

PrincessWellington · 05/10/2016 22:02

It smells weird. I have tried to get used to it but I can't

summeraupair · 06/10/2016 12:28

I thought I'd update my experience now I'm on maternity leave and not working in a hot and sweaty cafe any more!

I'm still not absolutely convinced about the smell of the deodorant, and I do feel a bit aware of how much I'm sweating if I do anything strenuous (especially as it's still so warm for October). But my sensitive underarms absolute love this deodorant, and I'm so much less itchy now than I used to be. I think it's worth having to put it on more than once on busy days for that reason alone, though I'd be very hesitant to use it once I'm back at work.

jacrispy · 06/10/2016 12:54

After a few weeks of using it my underarms feel better but I still sweat a bit. I think it could do with a scent as I can't smell anything!

Firewall · 06/10/2016 20:11

I like this product. When it arrived it had leaked in the packaging and left a sticky residue however when I tried it it seemed ok. It seems to work though not so well on the super hot days however day to day especially now it's getting cooler it seems a wonderful alternative to my usual, especially as it's perfume less. There is a slight odd scent to it when it's applied but it does fade. I have sensitive skin and this had been no problems at all.

CheeseEMouse · 06/10/2016 22:08

I do feel really self conscious that I am a bit sweatier than usual as whilst ok whilst floating round at home I am too self conscious at work. I like the product in theory but in practice i prefer an antiperspirant too.
