A little late with this as we've been on holiday. So sorry!

1.What was your overall impression of Bassetts Vitamins?
I thought they were well designed to appeal to children. I'd prefer a bottle as my toddler can easily get vitamins out of blister packs.
Nice colours and images.
As a vegetarian I'd prefer gelatine wasn't used, it's so unnecessary.

2.How old are your DCs? Have they tried Bassetts Vitamins before? Which of your children tried Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds as part of this product test?
I have a 2 year old and a 4 year old. The 4 year old tried the vitamins. He has had Bassetts vitamins before.

3.Did your child like our Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds? If so, what did your child like about them? If no, what didn’t they like?
He liked them very much. He considered them a treat! He said that they were juicy and tasty liked strawberries.

4.Would you recommend Bassetts Vitamins to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would as they encourage children to want to take vitamins.
I do have reservations about the packaging and use of gelatine, however.

RandallFloyd · 29/08/2015 08:30

Child is 4 tried the strawberry ones. Have tried the Orange ones previously but only recently.

3.Did your child like our Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds? If so, what did your child like about them? If no, what didn’t they like?
Loved them. Asks for his 'sweetie' every day.

4.Would you recommend Bassetts Vitamins to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Definitely. My boy loves them and he is not easy to please.

Ren1974 · 29/08/2015 08:43

1.What was your overall impression of Bassetts Vitamins?

Well my initial impression was very favourable due to the lovely packaging! Also the vitamin box was eye catching and gave the impression of a high quality brand. The vitamins were a good size and colour with a soft and chewy texture.

2.How old are your DCs? Have they tried Bassetts Vitamins before? Which of your children tried Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds as part of this product test?

I volunteered to test the vitamins for my 3 year old daughter but of course my 7 year old son was keen to try them too.

3.Did your child like our Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds? If so, what did your child like about them? If no, what didn’t they like?

My sons words "I like that they are very tasty and also good for my body, i like everything about them". My 3 year old daughter also enjoyed them and they both were very excited each day when it was vitamin time.

4.Would you recommend Bassetts Vitamins to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

For the taste and texture yes but obviously the health benefits are not apparent as yet.

We are going to continue with the vitamins we have left and my DC's have asked if we can buy some ourselves once they are all gone :)

mummyofcutetwo · 29/08/2015 08:59

1.What was your overall impression of Bassetts Vitamins?
Lovely packaging; fun pictures, attractive colours, eye catching.
The vitamins themselves looked good - the boys took them without hesitation.

2.How old are your DCs? Have they tried Bassetts Vitamins before? Which of your children tried Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds as part of this product test?
3 and 7 years old. The 3yo tried the strawberry. They've never tried Bassetts vitamins before (didn't know they did them!), but have had other vitamins.

3.Did your child like our Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds? If so, what did your child like about them? If no, what didn’t they like?
He loved them - asked for them every day, which he's never done with vitamins before.
The 7yo loved the raspberry ones too.
They both said they're very yummy and they loved the texture and taste.

4.Would you recommend Bassetts Vitamins to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
I've recommended them already and will continue to do so. I'll be looking out for them on offer in the shops.

nomoreminibreaks · 29/08/2015 13:44

1.What was your overall impression of Bassetts Vitamins?

They're fine - standard enough! Didn't like the list of very artificial sounding ingredients...

2.How old are your DCs? Have they tried Bassetts Vitamins before? Which of your children tried Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds as part of this product test?

DS1 is 4.5 and I don't think we'd tried this brand before.

3.Did your child like our Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds? If so, what did your child like about them? If no, what didn’t they like?

Yes he loved them. He is excited every day to take them, so much he's started lying to me and DH saying he hasn't had one today when he actually has! It saves us having to remember to give them to him, and his 20 month old brother is very jealous Smile

4.Would you recommend Bassetts Vitamins to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes I think so, but I'd ideally like to find some that he enjoys that have ingredients that are more natural.

collette0409 · 29/08/2015 14:01

I was send 1 pack of strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds & 1 pack of raspberry flavour for 7 to 11 year olds (if they had an older child as well)

  1. Very impress with the vitamins. Got to say love the box like opening a present thanks you.
  1. My daugther is 3 year olds, she tried the strawberry flavoured for 3-6 years.
  1. She loves them has no problem in have them. She said they taste yummy.

4.Yes I would recommend them and I will keep using them myself. I am happy with the vitamins that are in them and as my daugther likes the taste, as I have said I will keep using them.

sarahbanshee · 29/08/2015 17:12

Overall impression - the package was a lovely purple box which the kids have enjoyed playing with very much! The vitamin box itself looked cheerful and the vitamins smell very fruity and are nice and soft.

My DC are 6 and 3. They havent tried Bassetts before, and both tried them as part of this test.

They absolutely love them, both orange and strawberry flavour - they ask to have one each morning and really enjoy them. DC6 said "they taste like really yummy sweets but i know they are good for me too"

I would definitely recommend them

TheGrandPooBah · 29/08/2015 18:57
  1. My two love the taste.
  2. dS is 9, dd is 4 1/2 and DS has tried Basserts before, a long time ago before.
  1. They like the strawberry and raspberry flavour and think they're a treat.
  1. I would recommend them to family and friends.
StillNoFuckingEyeDeer · 29/08/2015 20:43

1.What was your overall impression of Bassetts Vitamins?
I liked them. I had a great first impression when the fabulous purple gift box arrived (unfortunately DD1 took it while I wasn't watching and covered it in glue). I liked that while the box is appealing to kids, they're packaged as tablets, rather than sweets and it's more obvious than the little jars of vitamin sweets that these aren't normal sweets. The blister packs are good to remind you that they're vitamins. The sweets themselves were attractive and DD1 loved the taste.

2.How old are your DCs? Have they tried Bassetts Vitamins before? Which of your children tried Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds as part of this product test?
DD1 is 4. We hadn't tried Bassetts Vitamins before, but we have tried other strawberry flavour vitamins. These tasted just as good as the ones she loved before.
We also have DD2 who is 2, who tried one of the sweets and enjoyed it too.

3.Did your child like our Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds? If so, what did your child like about them? If no, what didn’t they like?
Yes. She loved the strawberry flavour and the fact they were chewy. I don't think if be able to get her to try any other flavour to be honest.

4.Would you recommend Bassetts Vitamins to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes. They're easy to get children to eat and while a balanced diet should negate the need for a vitamin supplement, sometimes kids don't eat that well for a while.

26milesofcbeebies · 29/08/2015 22:04

Once your child has had a chance to try the vitamins, please answer the following questions on this thread. You will also need to answer the questions on the survey form (which will be emailed to you).

1.What was your overall impression of Bassetts Vitamins?

I liked the box, the colours seemed a bit muted in comparison to the old box which I preferred as it made them seem a bit less like sweets. The box still looks fun and appealing though which I think my DDs appreciated as it was obvious this was something just for children.

2.How old are your DCs? Have they tried Bassetts Vitamins before? Which of your children tried Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds as part of this product test?
My DDs are 3 and 6. We have tried various bassets vitamins before, including strawberry ones, as well as other brands. They both tried them.

3.Did your child like our Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds? If so, what did your child like about them? If no, what didn’t they like?

Yes they did. They like the chewy texture and the flavour. Dd 2, who is 3, said they were yummy. They were both happy to eat them and they definitely wouldn't have done if they didn't like them!

4.Would you recommend Bassetts Vitamins to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes I would. I think vitamins can play a useful part in supplementing anyone's diet. I think it is particularly important to make sure children get enough vitamin d and for this reason alone I would recommend the vitamins as a palatable way to ensure children get the rda of vit D.

26milesofcbeebies · 29/08/2015 22:04

Thank you for including me in the product test!

Loomis1608 · 30/08/2015 07:50

1.What was your overall impression of Bassetts Vitamins?
Definitely designed with children in mind, from the colourful packaging to the kid-friendly flavour(s).

2.How old are your DCs? Have they tried Bassetts Vitamins before? Which of your children tried Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds as part of this product test?
My daughter is three years old, turning four in December. This was her first time trying Bassetts Vitamins.

3.Did your child like our Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds? If so, what did your child like about them? If no, what didn’t they like?
She loved them. So much so that she asked for one each morning at breakfast. This also led to her younger sister wanting to try one and our (failed) attempt to explain to her that she was too young.

My daughter took the same approach to them as she does sweets: she saw them as a treat. I do wonder though whether her opinion would change if we made it clearer to her that they're closer to medicine than sweets.

4.Would you recommend Bassetts Vitamins to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
I defnately would. They're been produced so that they're immediately palatable to children, while ensuring that they continue to act as a vitamin. I would ask whether there was a similar product for younger children though (one to two year olds).

stodge74 · 30/08/2015 09:03

1.What was your overall impression of Bassetts Vitamins?
Totally impressed
2.How old are your DCs? Have they tried Bassetts Vitamins before?
DS is 3 and hasn't tried Bassett Vitamins before DD is 1
Which of your children tried Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds as part of this product test?
My 3 year old

3.Did your child like our Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds? If so, what did your child like about them? If no, what didn’t they like?
He loved them I'm sure he thought they were sweets he always asked for more after

4.Would you recommend Bassetts Vitamins to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes most definitely I would recommend.

EllaSaturday · 30/08/2015 13:42

1.What was your overall impression of Bassetts Vitamins?
I liked the packaging and so did my boys. DS2 named the man on the front Mr Vitamin Man. Both boys liked the faces on the vitamins.

2.How old are your DCs? Have they tried Bassetts Vitamins before? Which of your children tried Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds as part of this product test?
My DS1 is 7 and he tried the raspberry ones which he really liked.
My DS2 is 5 and tried the strawberry ones which he liked too.
We had not tried Bassetts before.

3.Did your child like our Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds? If so, what did your child like about them? If no, what didn’t they like?
DS2 tried the strawberry ones and he loved the taste. He also like the faces on the actual vitamins. ANd he was very pleased that his Mr Vitamin Man on the package was bigger than the one on the raspberry ones his older br4other had!

4.Would you recommend Bassetts Vitamins to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, I would recommend Bassetts Vitamins. They have no added sugar, the kids love the taste and looks. NOthing not to like really!

mm1975 · 30/08/2015 15:35

First of all the packets of vitamins came in a beautiful purple box with purple tissue paper inside, tied with a purple ribbon which I thought was a lovely touch.

1, My overall impression is good, I liked the colourful boxes and fun design. I also like that the blister pack has the age they are for on the back (really helpful with a few children)

2, My children are 12, 10, 9, 7, 4, 2 & 10 months. My 4 year old daughter was taking part and has never had Bassetts Vitamins before.

3, My Daughter liked the natural Strawberry flavour but did have to be reminded to chew them rather than swallow whole (which she did the first time) My Daughter doesn't eat sweets so knew they were vitamins and what they are for. I also tried one as I wouldn't give my child anything before I had tried it and I thought it had a nice natural flavour and it was easy to chew.

4, I would recommend them but I think they would work out too expensive for a family as large as ours where everybody has vitamins.

Catpawprint · 30/08/2015 18:43

Really sorry I'm late with this feedback. Internet access woes!

  1. Overall impression of Basset's:

Really good. Slick, updated. Taste delicious, with no nasty aftertaste. Clever marketing...what a beautiful box they were sent in!

2.How old are your DCs?
1 and 6

Have they tried Bassetts Vitamins before?

No

Which of your children tried Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds as part of this product test?

The 5 year old (now 6 it took so long to fill in the feedback!)

3.Did your child like our Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds? If so, what did your child like about them? If no, what didn’t they like?

He LOVES them and I have had to hide the packet in case he overdoses by helping himself. He thinks that they are sweets, likes the smiey face on them, loves the chewiness and the flavour.

4.Would you recommend Bassetts Vitamins to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes. They taste lovely, but no Iron in them and they are relatively pricey so if DCs would eat other (cheaper) pills then would start there instead . These have the 'whiskas' effect...the child won't go back to Tesco own brand cat food!!

Topsyturvyland · 30/08/2015 19:03

Only just back from hols so a bit late with the feedback!

  1. What was your overall impression of Bassetts Vitamins?

Fabulous packaging. Like a lot of others, I got quite excited! Overall impression of the vitamins is good. Nice, bright boxes. Very appealing to kids.

2.How old are your DCs? Have they tried Bassetts Vitamins before? Which of your children tried Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds as part of this product test?

7 and 3. My 3 year old is trying the strawberry flavour as part of this product test.

Both children have tried Bassets vitamins before.

3.Did your child like our Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds? If so, what did your child like about them? If no, what didn’t they like?

Yes, very much so. He regards it as a sweet, and regularly asks for more! I have to explain that they are not, in fact, normal sweets.

4.Would you recommend Bassetts Vitamins to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would recommend them. A great way to get extra vitamins into kids easily without them realising that they are eating something potentially nutritious!

My only issue is the presence of artificial sweeteners, but I do realise these are an unavoidable consequence of the vitamins being made child-friendly.

popcoot · 30/08/2015 19:04

1.What was your overall impression of Bassetts Vitamins?

Very excited to be opening the beautifully presented purple gift wrapped package. My daughter and I were both impressed. The packages were a lovely colour, an attractive jelly baby style character and overall very impressed.

2.How old are your DCs? Have they tried Bassetts Vitamins before? Which of your children tried Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds as part of this product test?

I have a 6mth old and 3.5yr old. My 3.5yr old daughter tried the strawberry 3-6yr old vitamins. No, not tried before.

3.Did your child like our Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds? If so, what did your child like about them? If no, what didn’t they like?

My daughter loved her vitamins especially the fact that they were her own and she didn't have to share them with her brother. She loved having one every morning and would have eaten the whole packet given the opportunity.

4.Would you recommend Bassetts Vitamins to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes a lovely way to get vitamins in a child hassle and stress free

becks213 · 31/08/2015 00:35

My daughter is really enjoying taking her Bassetts Vitamins and I am so pleased to have discovered them through you - Thanks Mumsnet!

My Daughter is 4 and she has never tried any vitamins before. We got to trial both Strawberry and Orange Flavours

My Daughter does like orange flavour the best but also likes the strawberry too, She likes that they are chewy and that they have a nice flavour.

We would definitely recommend Bassetts Vitamins to friends/family as they are a great way to get children to take vitamins and be healthy. I am going to continue to buy both flavours for my daughter - I wish i'd known about them sooner! :)

woodlysmum · 31/08/2015 01:46

.What was your overall impression of Bassetts Vitamins?

The packaging they came in through the post was impressive and my son felt very pleased to have received it. The product packaging itself is cute and appealing.
2.How old are your DCs? Have they tried Bassetts Vitamins before? Which of your children tried Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds as part of this product test?
I have 2 DCs DS1 is 8 and DS2 is 5. They have had Bassetts Vitamins before. My DS2 tried the strawberry flavour.

3.Did your child like our Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds? If so, what did your child like about them? If no, what didn’t they like?
DS2 is not a big strawberry fan but he loved these vitamins as they are squidgy and like sweets.

4.Would you recommend Bassetts Vitamins to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes. Great fun way of ensuring that your children get their vitamins especially if they dont eat fresh fruit like my DS2!
I like the fact Bassetts have age ranges now as I feel reassured that my older son is getting the right amount of vitamins for his age

mapmyface · 31/08/2015 08:07
  1. The vitamins arrived in a gorgeous purple box with ribbon. Too exciting for just vitamins, my 5yo dd had it carted off to her bedroom in no time. So very impressed with first impressions.
  2. My children are 5 and 6, the 5yo was taking part in the product test. We tried the strawberry flavour. Yes they have tried basset vitamins previously and had both strawberry and orange flavour.
  3. Both children loved taking the vitamins and will often ask for one before I remember. They say they taste like sweets. I tried one for research purposes and it was yummy, like a non sugary fruit pastille.
  4. Yes I would recommend bassetts vitamins to friends and family, such an easy way to get extra vitamins in their diet. I would love to see a pastille version of the vitamin for 2yr olds though as 2yo ds really wanted one and there only seems to be liquid vitamins for under threes.
AdamantEve · 31/08/2015 19:20

1- It's a bit irrelevant but the packaging the vitamins came in was amazing!
The actual vitamins themselves look like little sweets and as such, are instantly appealing to children. The packets are bright and colourful and they do appear to be a treat rather than a health supplement so are easy to encourage children to take. In fact they needed no encouragement!

2- My 4 year old DD tested the vitamins. She has had some tablet style vitamins previously, I am not sure of the brand, but they were quite chalky and although she did take them, she wasn't hugely keen.

3- My child loved the Bassett's strawberry vitamins. She definitely considers them to a be a type of sweet. She asks every day to have one. It's actually been quite awkward as her two year old brother can't have them so we have to distribute them discreetly!

4- I would probably recommend them if another parent was considering giving their child a supplement as they are seemingly very attractive to children so there is no fuss about getting them to take them.

OverScentedFanjo · 31/08/2015 21:55

I have namechanged due to hackergate so have a different name now. Hope it doesn't cause confusion.

1.What was your overall impression of Bassetts Vitamins?
loved the beautiful purple packaging.really nicely wrapped and presented. Made us feel very special.like the blister packs and the one a day dose. We had a previous brand where the dose was two a day. Liked the body image on the box showing how the vitamins support your body.

2.How old are your DCs? Have they tried Bassetts Vitamins before? Which of your children tried Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds as part of this product test?
Turned 4 during the test time! Yes have used before, orange and strawberry, but currently using another brand

3.Did your child like our Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds? If so, what did your child like about them? If no, what didn’t they like?
loves them.keen to have them with breakfast.asks for them.like the strawberry flavour.

4.Would you recommend Bassetts Vitamins to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

yes, I feel vitiamins are vital for all. Like the dose rate on these and compared to another brand I only need to give one a day. Yes would recommend

Thank you for choosing us to be part of the trial.

Batbear · 01/09/2015 07:41

Sorry, I'm slightly late to the party as I've been away.

1.What was your overall impression of Bassetts Vitamins?
easy to get into, appealing packaging and got the DC's interested which is half the battle won!

2.How old are your DCs? Have they tried Bassetts Vitamins before? Which of your children tried Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds as part of this product test?
DCs are 4 and 1. The 4 year old did the testing. He's never had Bassetts vitamins before and we had the orange and strawberry flavours.

3.Did your child like our Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds? If so, what did your child like about them? If no, what didn’t they like?
he was less keen on the strawberry and liked the orange a little better. He's not a fan of sweets though (strange child) so until we get vitamin chocolate it's going to be a small battle.

4.Would you recommend Bassetts Vitamins to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes. Easy than liquid to administer and pretty straightforward.

Smcgettigan79 · 01/09/2015 09:21

Sorry for delay - had problems logging in like everyone else!

1.What was your overall impression of Bassetts Vitamins? Look nice - box is fine.

2.How old are your DCs? Have they tried Bassetts Vitamins before? Which of your children tried Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds as part of this product test? DS1 who is 4 tried them, he's had vitamins before but not Bassetts.

3.Did your child like our Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds? If so, what did your child like about them? If no, what didn’t they like? He did like them and asked daily for one of those red sweets!

4.Would you recommend Bassetts Vitamins to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not? yes - they seem to taste nice and they are small enough that DS1 kept it in his mouth and ate it rather than taking it out for a look every 10 seconds!
