The vitamins arrived in a lovely purple box and the girls felt like they were having a real treat receiving them. The packing is really informative and my eldest (7) read all the differences between the two sets of vitamins (we received a box of 3-6 years and a box of 7-11 years). They loved the fact that they had their own boxes and we have had very enthusiastic vitamin taking all week!
We have tried basset vitamins before but decided to try a cheaper brand as our last lot of vitamins, they are still sat half used in the cupboard as they tasted horrible apparently. I think in terms of taste and texture the basset vitamins are brill and both the girls loved the flavours and texture. The youngest has been asking when she can have her next vitamin and tried to trick her dad into giving her an extra one day!
I would recommend them to anyone as they are lovely tasting, the kids are egar to take them and as the packaging is so friendly then it's very easy to see your self and explain to your children what the benefits of taking these vitamins are.
Thank you for letting us be a part of this product test!

  1. the packaging was beautiful. Once I opened up the box and the tissue, there were 2 lovely light pink boxes of vitamins inside. My girls got very excited.
  2. my girls are 18 mths, 3 and almost 6. The rest was for my 3 and 6 yr old. They usually have the bassetts strawberry in the previous packaging. both my girls tried the strawberry flavour.
  3. they both loved the taste! I had to remind them that they are vitamins not sweeties!
  4. yes I would recommend them to others, I like the new packaging and the girls love the taste, makes it bet easy to ensure they take rheir vitamins every day without any fuss!
Kindhands · 28/08/2015 15:10
  1. Overall impression was very positive. Nice, child friendly packaging with clear product information.
  2. My DCs are 3 and 13 months , the 3 year old has been testing the vitamins.
  3. He loves them, I've never had much success in getting him to take vitamins in the past but he's asking me for one every morning.
  4. I would recommend to friends and family as an easy way to get vitamins in to pre-schoolers.
thestylethatdecadesforgot · 28/08/2015 15:20

1.What was your overall impression of Bassetts Vitamins?

I like the packaging - it was jolly and bright and got the kids' attention.

2.How old are your DCs? Have they tried Bassetts Vitamins before? Which of your children tried Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds as part of this product test?

I have a 1, a 3 and a 5 year old. The 3 and 5 year old tried them. They have not tried them before.

3.Did your child like our Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds? If so, what did your child like about them? If no, what didn’t they like?

Yes they both liked them. They liked that they were chewy and tasted like sweeties, they both asked for them each day which was great as I always forget to dish them out. What I liked is that the 5 year old currently has a crunchy tablet one, which I'm not keen on and it has a funny taste; the three year old has a liquid one as the crunchy tablets are for from age 5 and she doesn't like the taste of the liquid. It is a funny, irony taste. I also liked that both the 3 and 5 year old could have the same tablet, at the moment I have to buy two different brands and the liquid one is quite expensive. Having said that, I still have to give the one year old the liquid!

4.Would you recommend Bassetts Vitamins to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes I would, especially if they have kids of varying ages like mine, as it's easier to just be able to buy one type of tablets.

Florin · 28/08/2015 17:34

1.What was your overall impression of Bassetts Vitamins?

Nice bright packaging, very appealing to children

2.How old are your DCs? Have they tried Bassetts Vitamins before?

Which of your children tried Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds as part of this product test?
My son age 3

3.Did your child like our Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds? If so, what did your child like about them? If no, what didn’t they like?
Yes he thought it was a real treat as tasted like a sweetie only problem is he wanted more!

4.Would you recommend Bassetts Vitamins to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes because it is a no hassle way of giving your child vitamins

Florin · 28/08/2015 17:34

Oops missed out my son had the strawberry ones

HeadFairy · 28/08/2015 17:36

Hello there, apologies for being rubbish, we've just come back from our hols and we haven't received our vitamins.

DJThreeDog · 28/08/2015 17:41

1.What was your overall impression of Bassetts Vitamins?

Loved the fancy purple box with the ribbon they came in - the actual boxes for the vitamins were nice as well. They looked like sweets for the children, the recognised them as Jelly Babies.

2.How old are your DCs? Have they tried Bassetts Vitamins before? Which of your children tried Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds as part of this product test?

I have two six year olds and a three year old. They all tried the strawberry flavour and have never had vitamins before other than drops when they were first born.

3.Did your child like our Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds? If so, what did your child like about them? If no, what didn’t they like?

They loved them! I had to hide them from my three year old as he climbed onto the top cabinets to get them and had eaten four when I found him. Yes, I had read the warning about possible laxative effects - luckily that didn't happen!

They liked that they were chewy like sweets and tasted yummy.

4.Would you recommend Bassetts Vitamins to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

I'd say, if you think your child will benefit from vitamins then you can't go far wrong with these. Although I would say take them out of the box and put them somewhere safe as little ones don't really get 'no' when they are so like sweets.

noideawhat · 28/08/2015 17:41

1.What was your overall impression of Bassetts Vitamins?

Like other posters I loved the purple box & will definitely be reusing it! We've bought Bassetts vitamins before & I couldn't actually see much difference between the old and new boxes. Was expecting a bit of a rebrand.

2.How old are your DCs? Have they tried Bassetts Vitamins before? Which of your children tried Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds as part of this product test?

DS1 is 4, DD is 2 & DS2 is 10 months. DS1 tried the vitamins. He's had them before

3.Did your child like our Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds? If so, what did your child like about them? If no, what didn’t they like?

He absolutely loves them & describes them as sweets. He used to have the orange flavour ones but prefers the strawberry.

4.Would you recommend Bassetts Vitamins to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

I think it's a good idea giving supplements to kids, especially if they're as fussy as mine can be. However I was a little disappointed at how synthetic they smelled & wasn't impressed with the ingredients list. I'm sure they could find a way to make vitamins appealing to kids without adding sweeteners. Because of this I probably wouldn't recommend them to others.

Sleepyfergus · 28/08/2015 17:43

Thanks for selecting us to test these. They arrived in gorgeous packaging, the box has ben commandeered by my youngest to keep "special things" in as it's purple and absolutely her favourite colour!

1.What was your overall impression of Bassetts Vitamins? The packaging is bright, informative and appealing to the kids. They stand out in the shelf also in the likes of Boots etc.

2.How old are your DCs? Have they tried Bassetts Vitamins before? Which of your children tried Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds as part of this product test?
My eldest daughter has these vitamins already and my youngest who has just turned 3 has been keen to try them for ages. Both my dc aged 5 and 3 tried the strawberry vitamins.

3.Did your child like our Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds? If so, what did your child like about them? If no, what didn’t they like?
They love them and think they taste lovely. They're like sweeties so no difficulty to getting them to take them. They take them after breakfast. They used to take a liquid vitamin before I found these, well, I say they used to take it, but it was a battle to get them to as they tasted pretty vile and smelt awful. Used to make me heave!

4.Would you recommend Bassetts Vitamins to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not? Definately. It's a no brainer!

NotYouAgain · 28/08/2015 18:10
  1. The vitamins arrived beautifully presented in a gorgeous box, the packaging was bright and attractive, possibly too attractive for children as they do resemble sweets (especially with the inclusion of the Bassett's characters on to front) and could be easily mistaken for sweets.

  2. My 3 year old was the tester, she hasn't had vitamins before. I have 2 girls aged 3 and 1.

  3. No she didn't like them, she said they tasted funny and she didn't like the texture of them in her mouth.

  4. I would probably not recommend these, I feel the packaging is too sweet like, plus my child didn't like them.

Twigadee · 28/08/2015 19:19

Eep! First review!

1.What was your overall impression of Bassetts Vitamins?

They're cute, they're child friendly and the cute little faces make them much more appealing than other vitamins available.

2.How old are your DCs? Have they tried Bassetts Vitamins before? Which of your children tried Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds as part of this product test?

I have three boys, 6, 3 & 4 months. The 6 year old & 3 year old both tried the vitamins for this product test.

3.Did your child like our Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds? If so, what did your child like about them? If no, what didn’t they like?

Well, the 3 year old liked them so much he has tantrums daily because he wants more than one! The 6 year old prefers the orange ones but says that the strawberry ones taste just like sweets.

4.Would you recommend Bassetts Vitamins to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would totally recommend these vitamins to friends and family, in fact, I already have! They've been such a hit here I think we'll be continuing with them for a long time.

Treadlightly · 28/08/2015 19:29

Omg I loved the purple box! Was very exciting when it arrived in the post and my dd has swiped the box for keeping special things in!

1.What was your overall impression of Bassetts Vitamins?
Great! My dd loves them. She tries to con me into having 2 every day :)
She likes the flavours and says they're like sweeties - we had a chat about them being like Medicine & only having 1 if she's asked me.
She likes the box and the picture of 'the man made out of the sweeties'

2.How old are your DCs? Have they tried Bassetts Vitamins before?

Dd is 5. She's tried them before but not the orange flavour.

Which of your children tried Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds as part of this product test?

My 5 year old daughter

3.Did your child like our Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds? If so, what did your child like about them? If no, what didn’t they like?

She preferred the orange ones. She says she likes the strawberry, they're not horrible. She just likes the orange flavour more.

4.Would you recommend Bassetts Vitamins to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, definitely! My dd is fussy and help ease my mind a little about her fuss eating

FlibbertyGibbets · 28/08/2015 19:38

1.What was your overall impression of Bassetts Vitamins?
Good quantity to a box, easier to give than liquid vitamins.

2.How old are your DCs? Have they tried Bassetts Vitamins before? Which of your children tried Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds as part of this product test?
I have a 1yo and 3yo. My 3yo is the tester, and has had the strawberry flavour. She hasn't had Bassetts before.

3.Did your child like our Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds? If so, what did your child like about them? If no, what didn’t they like?

She loves them - they're like sweets! She's reminding me in the morning that she has to have them.

4.Would you recommend Bassetts Vitamins to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

They're good in that they encourage children to take vitamins. DH is less convinced due to the artificial sweeteners, which he's not keen on for small children.

MeAndTheMajor · 28/08/2015 19:43

1.What was your overall impression of Bassetts Vitamins?
Good - we already use them, so I was interested to see how they had been changed. DD noticed no difference in taste - she still thinks that they are like a sweet, so was happy to have one every morning.

2.How old are your DCs? Have they tried Bassetts Vitamins before? Which of your children tried Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds as part of this product test?
Mine are 4 and 1. Only the 4 year old took part in the test. As above, she has Bassetts Vitamins regularly already.

3.Did your child like our Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds? If so, what did your child like about them? If no, what didn’t they like?
Yes, she really likes them. She likes the taste and would happily eat more than one a day if I would let her.

4.Would you recommend Bassetts Vitamins to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Definitely. DD actually enjoys having one and sees the Vitamin as a treat rather than a chore.

vj32 · 28/08/2015 20:40

1.What was your overall impression of Bassetts Vitamins?
Positive overall, I have previously bought another brand but my son didn't notice any difference.

2.How old are your DCs? Have they tried Bassetts Vitamins before? Which of your children tried Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds as part of this product test? My son is 4.

3.Did your child like our Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds? If so, what did your child like about them? If no, what didn’t they like? My son liked that they are strawberry - his favourite colour is red so everything has to be red! he also prefers fruit jellies to chewable tablet type vitamins. He thought they had a nice fruity flavour.

4.Would you recommend Bassetts Vitamins to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not? I would recommend them as my son really liked them, however I have discovered orange jellies from Asda are much cheaper, and price is a big factor for me. I also think they look a bit too much like sweets for younger children - we had a bit of a problem when my son was 3 first taking these kind of vitamins because he kept saying he hadn't had one to get more! I recently discussed vitamins for my toddler with my local pharmacist and was told it is much safer to not give vitamins than to risk giving too much because there are dangers in giving too much. I think there is a serious concern that a child could overdose on these thinking they were sweets. It also upsets my youngest as the only thing produced for vitamins for under 3s is a horrible tasting liquid and yet in his eyes, his brother gets sweets!

idleweiss · 28/08/2015 21:30

1.What was your overall impression of Bassetts Vitamins?
They looked great, I liked the new look packaging (since I last bought them) and the Children did too.

2.How old are your DCs? Have they tried Bassetts Vitamins before? Which of your children tried Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds as part of this product test?
My two eldest DCs are 3 and 5 years old, they have both tried them previously and both tried the strawberry flavour this time.

3.Did your child like our Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds? If so, what did your child like about them? If no, what didn’t they like? They both liked the little faces on each vitamin and the flavours although they both told me they were very sweet compared to the supermarket bought equivalent they have been taking?

4.Would you recommend Bassetts Vitamins to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, they are a fun tasty way to encourage little ones to ensure they are getting the vitamins they need.

verap · 28/08/2015 22:06

Fun packaging, our 6 year old was curious to try them.

She hasnt tried Bassetts before, we use different brand atm. Beside our 6 year old daughter, her cousin (girl, 8) also tried them.

My daughter didnt like the strawberry flavour, she only tried one and prefers the orange ones. Her cousin like them very much.
I would definitely recommend them to my friends/family as they taste nices and kids love them.

Danso · 28/08/2015 22:16
  1. Our overall impression of Bassetts Vitamins is a very good one. The vitamins arrived in a beautiful gift box, showing that Bassetts care about their products and like to give a good impression.
  2. My DCs are 2, 5 and 7. They have never tried Bassetts Vitamins before. The 5 yr old tried Bassetts Vitamins Strawberry flavour.
  3. My 5 yr old liked the vitamin the first time round, but after having the second one started to complain that they tasted funny and that she would prefer the 'normal' supermarket own brand chewable tablets. However she is still having them as we go as 7 yr old had some Raspberry Bassett vitamins to try (and loves them) and 5 yr old won't be left behind.
  4. I would recommend Bassetts Vitamins to friends and family especially if theirs are into eating sweets as the vitamins remind my oldest one of having a gummy sweet. Only reserve I have about buying them is that they are much dearer then the vitamins I normally buy for my children.
lfrancis12 · 28/08/2015 22:45

1.My overall impression of Bassetts Vitamins is that the packaging looks fun and kid friendly, and the vitamins look like lollies so are appealing to kids. I also loved the packaging they arrived in and it felt like I was opening a special present.

2.My DC is 3 years, she has not tried Bassetts Vitamins before, and tried the Strawberry ones.

3.My DC loved the Vitamins and kept asking for more. She said that they were very yummy and she liked them.

4.I would recommend the vitamins to family and friends as they are very good and appealing to kids, so is an easy way to ensure kids are getting the vitamins they need.

PalaceGirl · 28/08/2015 22:48

1.What was your overall impression of Bassetts Vitamins?
colourful boxes were sturdy and well made. They looked attractive and bright without being 'garish' or too cartoony. My son was drawn to them; in particular he loved the "strongman" on the box and asked if he ate them would it make him stronger? Of course he popped it into his mouth and them flexed his muscles afterwards!
The packaging they arrived in was beautiful and made me think that Bassetts cared about making a good impression and the presentation of their products. However DH said it was overdone and waste of money. I thought it was special and appreciated the effort. I'm also going to reuse the box!

2.How old are your DCs? Have they tried Bassetts Vitamins before? Which of your children tried Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds as part of this product test?

Two children:1 year and 3.5 years old. My son has never tried this particular product before. He sampled both the strawberry and the orange flavour.

3.Did your child like our Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds? If so, what did your child like about them? If no, what didn’t they like?
He loved the stawberry flavour the most. He thinks they are sweeties.

4.Would you recommend Bassetts Vitamins to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes. It's a lovely treat and it's good for them. My son looks forward to having one after his breakfast.

Everyone who adds feedback as required will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

bicky · 28/08/2015 22:59
  1. Overall impression
Very impressed
  1. My dc are 3, 6 and 9, never tried vitamins before
  2. My dd 6 was the tester, she loved them,
  3. Would definitely recommend and will be purchasing, wish they were slightly cheaper though
startalloveragain · 28/08/2015 23:02

1.What was your overall impression of Bassetts Vitamins?

My daughter liked them - and if she requests a vitamin before we remember to give them to her, that's a good thing!

2.How old are your DCs? Have they tried Bassetts Vitamins before? Which of your children tried Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds as part of this product test?

She's six, and no, we haven't.

3.Did your child like our Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds? If so, what did your child like about them? If no, what didn’t they like?

Yes - she likes soft vitamins and as previously said, reminds us she needs one which is a good thing!

4.Would you recommend Bassetts Vitamins to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Defintely - they're vitamins, and they're appealing to my daughter.

DeRegReReg · 28/08/2015 23:27

I de-reg'ed in a bit of a panic at the start of Hackergate so am here under my new guise/email address. Hope that doesn't cause an issue...
Already completed the questionairre.

1.What was your overall impression of Bassetts Vitamins?
Good product packaging - DD liked it and was keen to try them. They smelled nice and apparently tasted good too.

2.How old are your DCs? Have they tried Bassetts Vitamins before? Which of your children tried Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds as part of this product test?

5 year old DD took part in the test. She's had Bassett's before, some she's liked, others she hasn't.

3.Did your child like our Bassetts Vitamins strawberry flavour for 3 to 6 year olds? If so, what did your child like about them? If no, what didn’t they like?

Loved them. Big smile when she saw the face on the vitamin ("it's like a jelly baby head!") And really enjoyed the flavour and chewyness.

4.Would you recommend Bassetts Vitamins to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes. Taste good (no vitamin-y aftertaste) provide appropriate percentages of RDA for children and are appealing (no point spending money on vitamins they won't eat!)

preety18 · 28/08/2015 23:55
