AngelieMumsnet · 22/08/2014 14:00

This thread is for the 50 Mumsnetters recruited to try out the ovulation test from Clearblue.

Here’s what ClearBlue say "Clearblue Ovulation Test with Dual Hormone Indicator is breakthrough product because it tracks both luteinising hormone and estrogen it is the only Ovulation test that typically identifies 4 or more Fertile days, that’s more than any other Ovulation test. This means you have more advanced notice of when your body is preparing for ovulation than any other test."

All testers are currently trying to conceive and selected testers have been sent a Dual Hormone Ovulation Kit - RRP £29.99.

We are asking for feedback across a three month period. We have added some questions below on first impressions: please answer them as soon as you can after receiving the Dual Hormone Ovulation Kit. We will add some more questions across the next three months.

All testers who try the Dual Hormone Ovulation Kit and leaves their feedback as requested will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will receive a £250 Love2Shop voucher.

First impressions
How long you have been TTCing and whether this is for a first baby or 2nd, 3rd etc.
Please say what other products, if any, you have tried when TTCing.
On opening the package what were your first impressions of the kit?
What was the packaging like?
How quickly did you get started with it?
How easy were the instructions to follow? Did you understand it all?
Any other comments on first impressions?

As a wrap up please could all testers let Clearblue know their responses to the following questions:

  1. Based on your experiences with the Clearblue Ovulation Test with Dual Hormone Indicator, do you think you would recommend it to someone else you knew who was TTCing? Or do you think you'd recommend it on MN if you saw a post asking this or from someone who was TTCing like you were?
  1. If you're still TTCing, do you think you will continue to use it?
  1. How did you get on over the last 3 months or so with the test?
  1. What impact, if any, did it have on your TTCing?

and finally any last comments on this product?

Please note: your anonymous comments may be used by Clearblue on their website and other marketing materials.

Thanks and good luck (with everything!)

Just updating - annoyingly got AF today :( amazing that there are so many positives though - for me it was strange, went from no chance to peak (high fertility) on day 10 so much earlier than I thought but missed out this time - look forward to trying again in about 10 days time!

MrsGingerbread · 03/10/2014 10:58

I'm at the end of my first month of using these now. Af is due tomorrow.

I had 3 days of high before my peak and this matched the timing I have been getting from ic opks and also not far off my app either.

I think they are easy to understand once you have taken the time to get to grips with the instructions, but I agreed that the foil is hard work to open first thing on the morning when you need a wee.

I am peeing in a pot, is anyone peeing directly on the strip?

junebaby2011 · 03/10/2014 15:30

Thank for the good wishes Smile

feetlikeahobbit · 03/10/2014 22:20

Peeing in a pot too, more so because at least then I have time to put the test strip in properly and in time!

PiperIsOrange · 04/10/2014 03:25

I am not TTC, my husband has had the snip and I am not on any contraception or wish to be pregnant.

I could take part in the study to rule out any stree/anxiety about TTC

gms1849 · 04/10/2014 22:33

I got a bfp today first time using the ov kit. My period was a couple days late so thought I'd test. Was actually surprised as didnt think I was. I've not had any symptoms. Stick with the kits everyone and baby dust to all.

alien11 · 05/10/2014 09:16

Congratulations gms1849 hope all goes smoothly for you :-)

Katewright699 · 06/10/2014 11:50

Great news gms :) hopefully will have a similar story myself Grin just started ov testing today... Have a happy healthy 9 months xx

gms1849 · 06/10/2014 23:12

Thank you ladies. Fingers crossed for you too. X

alien11 · 07/10/2014 10:36

I'm now 3 days late and just did a test and again bfn. No idea what's going on with my body!

Katewright699 · 07/10/2014 12:06

How extremely annoying for you alien ... How many 28 day cycles have you had since your coil was removed ? X

alien11 · 07/10/2014 18:27

Only 2 so probably not unusual I guess? Just want AF here so I can forget this month and bit worry that my body's going a bit strange Hmm

alien11 · 07/10/2014 18:27
  • not worry!
Katewright699 · 07/10/2014 21:29

Yes it could take a few months for your periods to sort themselves out... I was the same when I came off my bc,I knew it was highly unlikely that I would fall straightaway and just wanted AF to come so I could at least move on. I've just finished my first proper AF and am now convinced that I won't ovulate.... Oh the constant stress of it all if its not one bloody thing to worry about its another Hmm fx for you alien that something happens for you x

alien11 · 07/10/2014 22:16

I am totally imagining a very faint 2nd line aren't I?? When I hold it up to the light it looks like where the urine has stopped flowing if you know what I mean??

SweetTeaVodka · 08/10/2014 03:39

I see a faint line too, alien! How sensitive is the test?

alien11 · 08/10/2014 06:03

It's just a supermarket one-morrisons! No idea on sensitivity !

SweetTeaVodka · 08/10/2014 06:45

It usually says the sensitivity on the packet somewhere. The lower the number the higher the sensitivity (needs less of the hormone present to give a positive). Was just thinking you might get a clearer line with a more sensitive test. Considering the hormone increases quickly the same is probably true for testing again in a day or two (though I know from experience the wait is torture).

alien11 · 08/10/2014 06:59

Ok hunted out the instructions and it's 15miu?

Impatientwino · 08/10/2014 08:02

How long you have been TTCing and whether this is for a first baby or 2nd, 3rd etc.

1st cycle, 2nd baby - 1st baby took 14 months to conceive

Please say what other products, if any, you have tried when TTCing.

None.
.
On opening the package what were your first impressions of the kit?

Looks professional and good quality - in line with what I would expect from clearblue

What was the packaging like?

Box itself felt a bit thin.

How quickly did you get started with it?

They arrived too late for my last cycle so started using them this week.

How easy were the instructions to follow? Did you understand it all?

They aren't difficult to understand but I did read through it all twice to double check as they are very wordy. (I know they have to be, there's a lot of information to convey)

Any other comments on first impressions?

I wish the stick wrappers had an easy tear on them. I find I have to cut them open with scissors.

Impatientwino · 08/10/2014 08:03

My faint line is now 2 alien! Fingers crossed for you!

Impatientwino · 08/10/2014 08:10

This was my faint line which turned out to be DS alien11

alien11 · 08/10/2014 09:53

alien11 · 08/10/2014 16:04
