AngelieMumsnet · 22/08/2014 14:00

This thread is for the 50 Mumsnetters recruited to try out the ovulation test from Clearblue.

Here’s what ClearBlue say "Clearblue Ovulation Test with Dual Hormone Indicator is breakthrough product because it tracks both luteinising hormone and estrogen it is the only Ovulation test that typically identifies 4 or more Fertile days, that’s more than any other Ovulation test. This means you have more advanced notice of when your body is preparing for ovulation than any other test."

All testers are currently trying to conceive and selected testers have been sent a Dual Hormone Ovulation Kit - RRP £29.99.

We are asking for feedback across a three month period. We have added some questions below on first impressions: please answer them as soon as you can after receiving the Dual Hormone Ovulation Kit. We will add some more questions across the next three months.

All testers who try the Dual Hormone Ovulation Kit and leaves their feedback as requested will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will receive a £250 Love2Shop voucher.

First impressions
How long you have been TTCing and whether this is for a first baby or 2nd, 3rd etc.
Please say what other products, if any, you have tried when TTCing.
On opening the package what were your first impressions of the kit?
What was the packaging like?
How quickly did you get started with it?
How easy were the instructions to follow? Did you understand it all?
Any other comments on first impressions?

As a wrap up please could all testers let Clearblue know their responses to the following questions:

  1. Based on your experiences with the Clearblue Ovulation Test with Dual Hormone Indicator, do you think you would recommend it to someone else you knew who was TTCing? Or do you think you'd recommend it on MN if you saw a post asking this or from someone who was TTCing like you were?

  1. If you're still TTCing, do you think you will continue to use it?

  1. How did you get on over the last 3 months or so with the test?

  1. What impact, if any, did it have on your TTCing?

and finally any last comments on this product?

Please note: your anonymous comments may be used by Clearblue on their website and other marketing materials.

Thanks and good luck (with everything!)

Started using the ov test from cycle day 12 and got a static smiley on day 16. Confirmed ovulation on day 17 as have also been taking bbt. Have used clear blue digital for a while and they always seem accurate to me. Usually get an increase in bbt the day after the first static smiley.
Very happy with this product.

Ps Have got pregnant 3 times while using these in the last 12 months, but unfortunately I keep miscarrying!

Ok, so here is my first month's feedback.

I started getting a flashing smiley face on day 17. This then continued for the remaining tests this month and didn't change. So either I missed when I ovulated or I didn't at all. I came on today - day 24 (four days early).

Obviously am disappointed but am pleased with the product so far. Hopefully I will learn whether this was a blip or if there's something more to it next month. Either way, I started this because I wanted to learn what on earth my body is up to, which is what I'm doing. So that's a plus.

Hello,

I have been TTC number two for about a year, in that time have had two mc. We are on cycle 3/4 since last miscarriage.

In the past I have used an all on my phone to track fertility and also internet cheapie ovulation sticks which seem to suggest I ovulate around day 17 in a 27/28 day cycle.

These tests are well packaged and I like the colour being purple to distinguish from pregnancy tests. I found the inner packaging/foil quite difficult to open.

I have started testing this cycle in day 9 (should have been 8 but missed it). I got one or two days of low fertility and then two high fertility and then today has gone back down to low fertility-not sure why. I did use the other holder this morning as couldn't find the first one so not sure if that has had an impact in the result. Will test again tomorrow and see what happens.

Instructions are ok and results are clear-although to me a flashing smiley seems more important than a static smiley (if that makes sense)-so peak fertility should be flashing.

Just read back thoroughbred thread that I should've used the same holder throughout this cycle of testing oops! Will keep going but will aim to get it right next cycle!

Started using the kit on CD7 as per instructions, got flashy smiley faces for CDs11, 12 and 13 then a static smiley on CD14. Was stressed out on CD13 when I got a flashing smiley because I was expecting a static one!

Static smiley for me today-day 13.

mountaingirl01 · 13/09/2014 17:50

Got a static after 2 days of flashing so I was very pleased. Definite ov pains this month and a slight rise in BBT so pretty hopeful I have ovulated.

Anyone know the percentage in chance of that static :) being wrong?

First months testing feedback

So I started testing CD9 nothing, CD10 flashing smiley, CD11 static smiley, it seems I ovulate far sooner than I thought. If I don't get a bfp this month I'll start testing a little sooner to maximise my fertile days.

Maybe this is where I've been going wrong all these months years

I don't think I can rely on my phone app any more it's very far out.

Hi all, I'm now starting to use the test sticks on day 8 of a 28 day cycle. Wondering if I will ovulate at all.... Time will tell I guess. Yay to those who smiley faces :)

Hi everyone
After a couple of days testing with an O symbol appearing it then went to a static ?? without seeing the flashing one. It really surprised me as I wasn't sure if I was ovulating and thought if I was it was late in my cycle. My cycles have been between 26-29 days since coming off the pill in May. I never notice a real change in cm and have no other symptoms of ovulation. This month has been exactly the same.
Is anyone taking any vitamins/supplements?

I've just starting using them now - day 3; the first two were not ovulating but today was a flashing Smile. Can I add that my husband is pleased we can start DTD in earnest?

How long you have been TTCing -
TTC just since July - stopped the pill at the end of July
and whether this is for a first baby or 2nd, 3rd etc. - this is for baby number 3 (hopefully).
Please say what other products, if any, you have tried when TTCing. - tried nothing else & never used ovulation sticks before
On opening the package what were your first impressions of the kit? - the kit looks too much like a pregnancy test, the baby on the front is a bit OTT & for some who have been trying a long time probably not great - again the baby makes it look like a pregnancy test.
What was the packaging like? - as above!
How quickly did you get started with it? I have only just started it as my August cycle went on forever...
How easy were the instructions to follow? I thought the instructions made complete sense.
Did you understand it all? Yes
Any other comments on first impressions? - yesterday I got the circle today it went straight to peak fertilty - this made me a little nervous about the accuracy...But will wait & see.

Gms1849 - this is what has happened to me, nothing about it in the instructions? Guess at this stage we have to trust it?

Glad people are getting smilies :) I've been using the sticks for 3 days with no signs of one yet... Think I'm going to be an odd one as I think I don't ovulate each month :(

First impressions: The packaging looked good, as though it would be easy to use; however I haven't had a chance to use it as before the package arrived we got our bfp :)

Just fertility tracking app, no products.

I've tried Boots ovulation kit but didn't seem to detect any HSG in me so after a few attempts I stopped using it.
On opening the package what were your first impressions of the kit?
Initially looked complicated but I soon learned the instructions were easy to follow.
What was the packaging like?
The packaging is nice - would stand out in the supermarket good use of colours so clear to distinguish they are ovulation not pregnancy tests
How quickly did you get started with it?
I waited until I was cd8, about 3 days after my period stopped.
How easy were the instructions to follow? Did you understand it all?
Instructions were clear and straight forward to use
Any other comments on first impressions?

I'm on my second cycle of this.

As my cycle was so short last time (24 days) I started testing on day 7. Low fertility for day 7 and 8. Woke up this morning and got peak fertility day 9! No high fertility, which has surprised me. Last cycle I got high fertility from day 16 and then nothing. I have done everything right both cycles so not sure what is going on.

Hey mistresskatherine , according to the clear blue website the peak shows ovulation. Some people don't ovulate each month so maybe last month you had the hormones for prep for ovulation but this month you are ovulating Smile

I had 2days of high and this morning got a peak in cycle day 14.

Fingers crossed!
