Clearblue Ovulation Test with Dual Hormone Indicator - Feedback Thread NOW CLOSED

AngelieMumsnet · 22/08/2014 14:00

This thread is for the 50 Mumsnetters recruited to try out the ovulation test from Clearblue.

Here’s what ClearBlue say "Clearblue Ovulation Test with Dual Hormone Indicator is breakthrough product because it tracks both luteinising hormone and estrogen it is the only Ovulation test that typically identifies 4 or more Fertile days, that’s more than any other Ovulation test. This means you have more advanced notice of when your body is preparing for ovulation than any other test."

All testers are currently trying to conceive and selected testers have been sent a Dual Hormone Ovulation Kit - RRP £29.99.

We are asking for feedback across a three month period. We have added some questions below on first impressions: please answer them as soon as you can after receiving the Dual Hormone Ovulation Kit. We will add some more questions across the next three months.

All testers who try the Dual Hormone Ovulation Kit and leaves their feedback as requested will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will receive a £250 Love2Shop voucher.

First impressions
How long you have been TTCing and whether this is for a first baby or 2nd, 3rd etc.
Please say what other products, if any, you have tried when TTCing.
On opening the package what were your first impressions of the kit?
What was the packaging like?
How quickly did you get started with it?
How easy were the instructions to follow? Did you understand it all?
Any other comments on first impressions?

As a wrap up please could all testers let Clearblue know their responses to the following questions:

  1. Based on your experiences with the Clearblue Ovulation Test with Dual Hormone Indicator, do you think you would recommend it to someone else you knew who was TTCing? Or do you think you'd recommend it on MN if you saw a post asking this or from someone who was TTCing like you were?

  1. If you're still TTCing, do you think you will continue to use it?

  1. How did you get on over the last 3 months or so with the test?

  1. What impact, if any, did it have on your TTCing?

and finally any last comments on this product?

Please note: your anonymous comments may be used by Clearblue on their website and other marketing materials.

Thanks and good luck (with everything!)

I've been TTC my first baby for a year and a half.
So far I've tried internet cheapy ovulation tests, preseed and conception vitamins from SevenSeas.
I think the packaging of the ClearBlue ovulation tests is quite nice, but needs hiding when nosy friends/family come around as it's definitely not discreet!
I have 35 day cycles so started using the tests when I got to day 21. I found the instructions fine, did read over twice to make sure I didn't make a mistake but by the second day I didn't need the instructions as it's really quite straightforward.
I was slightly confused as I had more than 2 days of flashing smiling faces (had 5), but googled it and this seems quite common.
Unfortunately no BFP this month, now on day 2, so waiting to start using the tests again in a few weeks.

How long you have been TTCing and whether this is for a first baby or 2nd, 3rd etc.

TTC #1 for 2 years

Please say what other products, if any, you have tried when TTCing.

Fertility Friend app on phone to time dtd.

On opening the package what were your first impressions of the kit?

Fairly easy to understand, no problems there.

What was the packaging like?

Fine

How quickly did you get started with it?

Not started yet as been on holidays

How easy were the instructions to follow? Did you understand it all?

I've used a different version and they are easy to understand. However, I have PCO (not the syndrome) and it doesn't say whether it works for people like me. I'e heard conflicting accounts in the past.

Any other comments on first impressions?

Congratulations callipygian00 that's great news. I'm due AF next Thursday after first month using the ov test so almost at end of two week wait. I don't feel any different though so suspect we'll be trying again next month.

Started testing in d16 (a day later than the instructions suggested because I'm forgetful). D16 was just a circle, yesterday and today I have the flashing smiley face. Unfortunately last night was a miss so hoping the toddler has a good night tonight (nudge nudge wink wink)

I definitely agree with others who have said that the flashing smiley should be peak fertility and the static one should be high fertility (the opposite of what they are now) - that was round feels much more intuitively right iyswim. DH thought the flashing smiley meant peak and that I was misunderstanding things when I told him my results yesterday. A flashing smiley screams "shag now!" far more than a static one!

Just thought I'd let you know I got an early BFP a week ago, first month of trying and using the Clearblue! Scarily good, especially as I am 38 so I had thought this would really take a while! Am only 5 weeks so a long way to go yet but fingers crossed. I think this is a great product for people who don't have the time/energy to be bonking every other day Smile.
I would agree with others though that the flashy face should be the peak days.

That's great news notmuchofaclue congratulations. If you don't mind me asking how many times did you BD during use of the ovulation tests? Did you feel pregnant/ have any symptoms or was it a late period that made you test? Thanks

Got my BFP this morning-first month of using the monitor but not first month trying.

We only DTD once-two days before ovulation on high fertility day.

Fingers crossed as I've had two early mc before this one.

Thanks for the congrats Smile
gms1489 I just had to Google what bd meant!! We did as instructed by the sticks - high and peak days. Seemed to do the job! I felt some pains that I had when pregnant with my first, also had some early spotting a week before AF due - exactly what happened first time around so even though first couple of early tests were negative, I was pretty sure I was pregnant.

How long you have been TTCing and whether this is for a first baby or 2nd, 3rd etc
We are TTC baby number one and have been trying for 9months.

Please say what other products, if any, you have tried when TTCing.
I take folic acid and used to track my temperature daily but I've stopped that. I use an app called my days to track my cycle.

On opening the package what were your first impressions of the kit?
It looked great. Exactly what you'd expect to be honest. Very appealing.

What was the packaging like?
Cardboard, a little squashed in the post but I liked the fact it was wrapped in plastic so you knew it hadn't been tampered with.

How quickly did you get started with it?
I had to wait a few weeks due to the timing in my cycle but I was excited to get started.

How easy were the instructions to follow? Did you understand it all? They seemed clear but I read them twice to make sure I'd fully understood it all.

Any other comments on first impressions?
I'm really excited to see if it works! Fingers crossed...

Here are some more thoughts after being able to use the product,

I got a fertile sign a day after having a non fertile sign, so no flashing sign in between. Is this usual?

The foil wrappers on the test sticks are pretty tough to open, especially if you are busting to wee in the morning!Blush

The test themselves are really easy to do, and instructions were easy to follow.

Congrats to all those with a positive and hope to join you soon, fingers crossed!Smile
