Kärcher SC2.500C review thread. Non-testers: Tell Kärcher about the cleaning tasks you avoid for a chance to win a SC2.500C Steam Cleaner! NOW CLOSED

AngelieMumsnet · 15/04/2014 14:50

This thread is for the 15 Mumsnetters who are currently testing out the Kärcher SC2.500C Steam Cleaner.

Kärcher say "The Kärcher SC2.500C Steam Cleaner makes light work of grease, dirt, stains and even limescale, delivering deep cleaning results with no chemicals or scrubbing. It kills 99.9% of bacteria with just the power of steam, and can be used on most surfaces around the home"

Non-Testers: What cleaning tasks do you have trouble with? Maybe you avoid cleaning the oven or dread scrubbing the bathroom? Are there any tasks that you think a steam cleaner could help with? Whatever your cleaning woes, Kärcher would love to hear about them.

Everyone who leaves their response on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky MNer will win their own Kärcher SC2.500C!

Testers: We'll be asking you to add feedback twice - we'd like your first impressions now and in a week we will add some more questions.

So, for your first impressions, Kärcher would love to know:

  • Did you find setting up the Steam Cleaner easy, were the instructions helpful?
  • What were your impressions from the first few uses?
  • Where have you used the Steam Cleaner?
  • What cleaning chore have you been most pleased with the results from using a Steam Cleaner?
  • Did you you use this for more functions than you originally planned?

Thanks and good luck!

non-tester - I'd tackle the thin veneer of sticky dried up pee that lands like dew on my toilets every morning.

I'd first of all, clean it all off, and, second of all, threaten everyone in the house that errant willy pointing will be corrected by a blast of steam.

would also tackle the dust mites that keep trying to kill our son. Bastard things.

ThePearShapedToad · 22/04/2014 20:08

Non tester

My room 101 for cleaning are the shower sliders at the bottom of the shower doors. They're constantly full of black and brown gunk no matter how many times I use a toothbrush and some cream clenser squirted on them

Makes me shudder Sad

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 22/04/2014 20:11

Also, the Karcher lady sent me an email addressed to a different name, and then sent another one with the correct one. Confused

Pull yourselves together, Karcher! Grin

lilyloo · 22/04/2014 20:13

Cleaning the shower , it always ends up streaky and mouldy whatever products I use .

AnneEyhtMeyer · 22/04/2014 20:20

I haven't had any emails from the Karcher lady. Are those of you who have doing the filming? I'm not, so maybe that's why I haven't heard.

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 22/04/2014 20:49

Yes, for the filmage.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 22/04/2014 21:13

Phew!

I bet it doesn't turn up. I thought it was too good to be true when I got the email saying I was a tester.

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 23/04/2014 09:23

FedEx just pulled up right outside my house and I was punching the air, thinking "this is it!" and getting all excited, threw my cardi on, secured the dog, got the keys for the front door ready to unlock...

...and he went next door. Sad Stand down, troops. Stand down.

comicsansisevil · 23/04/2014 09:37

Ooh, that's harsh Saga, what a let down Sad

Have positioned myself at my front room window ready for it to turn up

CakeyCakeyCakey · 23/04/2014 10:26

A yodel van drove past just now, and kept going, I may have shook my fist at it through the window like a grumpy old man...
I've got to go ad have my hair done soon (can't put it off, mil won't offer to pay again lol)
It's got 30mins before I get in the car.

I'm really hoping it comes soon I'm not sure how much more "are you sure it's not some kind of scam?" I can take!

CakeyCakeyCakey · 23/04/2014 10:27

AnneEyhtMeyer · 23/04/2014 11:06

I think I am going to stare out of the window for a bit in the hope that mine arrives.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 23/04/2014 11:36

It's here!!!!

Nearly hugged the UPS man!

HolidayArmadillo · 23/04/2014 11:45

I have no UPS man yet. What's the betting he comes whilst I'm out on the nursery run.

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 23/04/2014 11:52
Sad
AnneEyhtMeyer · 23/04/2014 12:11

Was about to give it a go when I read the safety instructions in the instruction manual.

It says it can't be used to clean ovens (page 15 of the booklet).

I wanted to clean my oven!

Disappointed.

mistlethrush · 23/04/2014 12:18

That's interesting Ann, as the website instructions suggest that you can...

AnneEyhtMeyer · 23/04/2014 12:24

How odd, mistle.

Hmmm... so do I believe the website or the instruction manual?

So, for your first question, Karcher, about whether I found the instructions helpful, is no, they contradict your website!

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 23/04/2014 12:28

Why would steam be so bad for the oven? Confused

mistlethrush · 23/04/2014 12:28

Perhaps Karcher would like to comment? I hope they do as cleaning the oven is one of the things I would be interested in doing if I bought one (given I didn't get chosen AngryEnvy).
