Kärcher SC2.500C review thread. Non-testers: Tell Kärcher about the cleaning tasks you avoid for a chance to win a SC2.500C Steam Cleaner! NOW CLOSED

AngelieMumsnet · 15/04/2014 14:50

This thread is for the 15 Mumsnetters who are currently testing out the Kärcher SC2.500C Steam Cleaner.

Kärcher say "The Kärcher SC2.500C Steam Cleaner makes light work of grease, dirt, stains and even limescale, delivering deep cleaning results with no chemicals or scrubbing. It kills 99.9% of bacteria with just the power of steam, and can be used on most surfaces around the home"

Non-Testers: What cleaning tasks do you have trouble with? Maybe you avoid cleaning the oven or dread scrubbing the bathroom? Are there any tasks that you think a steam cleaner could help with? Whatever your cleaning woes, Kärcher would love to hear about them.

Everyone who leaves their response on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky MNer will win their own Kärcher SC2.500C!

Testers: We'll be asking you to add feedback twice - we'd like your first impressions now and in a week we will add some more questions.

So, for your first impressions, Kärcher would love to know:

  • Did you find setting up the Steam Cleaner easy, were the instructions helpful?
  • What were your impressions from the first few uses?
  • Where have you used the Steam Cleaner?
  • What cleaning chore have you been most pleased with the results from using a Steam Cleaner?
  • Did you you use this for more functions than you originally planned?

Thanks and good luck!

My goodness so much to pick from!
Behind the toilet and sink, the corners on the floors, the kitchen cupboards.
I would love to get in between the tiles in the kitchen and bathroom, get all the grime i just can not reach!

So much cleaning i feel i now need to do, if only i had a steam cleaner...

Fidee64 · 20/04/2014 13:02
  1. Top of the kitchen cabinets
  2. Tile grout in bathroom
  3. Inside the cooker

...Life's too short; but I suspect a steam cleaner would take care of this!!

jenhegarty · 20/04/2014 14:59

My worst cleaning jobs are those that involve fiddly corners/crevices - things like oven shelves and the corners of windows. Anything that could help get all the grime out would please me greatly!

AlisonJB · 20/04/2014 16:45

Non tester. Hate cleaning the oven, kitchen floor and the tiles in the bathroom. But basically I avoid cleaning as much as I can get away with!

EvilHerbivore · 21/04/2014 13:57

Anyone's arrived yet?

AndHarry · 21/04/2014 14:51

Non-tester. Could a steam-cleaner do my carpets and sofas? I usually avoid doing them hire a Rug Doctor but it's a pain and expensive.

whattoWHO · 21/04/2014 14:58

Non tester. There are many, many jobs that I avoid.
Particularly the oven because I hate the gunk it generates.
And windows are my nemesis.

HeartStarCircleSquare · 21/04/2014 20:35

Non tester- I hate mopping floors. I have 3 children (3 and under) and it doesn't matter how much I clean, how often I scrub the floors...More food/playdough/glitter finds its way to the floor! It's a sticky thankless task! A steam cleaner might help but can you use them on laminate flooring?

CakeyCakeyCakey · 21/04/2014 20:47

I have a cheap steam mop and I use it on my kitchen laminate all the time, when the karcher comes it'll be used on it too.

vixo · 22/04/2014 10:40

Non tester - my least favourite cleaning task is the utility room floor. It's always grubby - spilt washing powder, cat footprints, full rubbish bags my husband has 'taken out' etc. you get the picture!

Uzma01 · 22/04/2014 12:38

Non-tester:

Cleaning the oven is something I generally avoid as I don't like the heavy duty chemical cleaners. Found a putty type one which worked really well a few months back.

A steam cleaner would come in handy on the laminate downstairs & in the bathroom plus on the kitchen tiles. Would love to win one.

HolidayArmadillo · 22/04/2014 14:15

Still no steam mop here...

Rigbyroo · 22/04/2014 14:19

Non tester-I hate cleaning windows! They are never smear free and I find it so exhausting!

AnneEyhtMeyer · 22/04/2014 14:53

I went out today in the hope of tempting the postman to deliver the cleaner but nothing has arrived in my absence.

CakeyCakeyCakey · 22/04/2014 14:55

Im out at the emergency vets with mil, I'm half expecting a missed delivery when I get home, or tomorrow when I'm having my hair done.

CakeyCakeyCakey · 22/04/2014 14:56

I should clarify that it's mils cat at the vets today, mil has he moments but up to just she still sees a human dr.

Nouseforausername · 22/04/2014 15:30

oh god, new hated task, cleaning the high chair! no matter how many times I clean it every day it still has caked on grime in horrid little crevices. disgusting.

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 22/04/2014 15:33

No cleaner here, yet!

CakeyCakeyCakey · 22/04/2014 15:51

NoUse get an ikea highchair, no crevices and you can put it outside and throw buckets at it, I loved ours!

crazybutterflylady · 22/04/2014 16:34

No cleaner here either although I've had email instructions on the video task together with a deadline even though we have nothing to film yet Grin

Nouse I agree. Ikea highchair all the way. I learnt this with my second after splashing out on a ridiculously expensive but useless high chair with my pfb Wink

The ikea one also goes in the dishwasher! Sold!

HermioneWeasley · 22/04/2014 18:39

No cleaner here yet and karcher lady doesn't reply to emails!

comicsansisevil · 22/04/2014 18:41

No cleaner here either, any news when it'll turn up please MNHQ?

It's not going to be another Flora Buttery is it?

I'm still waiting for mine.

The house is slowly disappearing under a mountain of saved up filth.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 22/04/2014 19:55

I really wish they could let us know when to expect it.

In the meantime, for all those with sticky cupboard tops, before I had kitchen cupboards which reached the ceiling I always put newspaper on the tops of my cupboards, cut to size. Then every so often I would just change the newspaper, no need for cleaning.
