This thread is for the 1,000 MNers who have been trying out the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Pump.

If you're a tester, please add your feedback to this thread. Below are a few questions for you to answer but please feel free to add any other comments you may have. We'll also email you a link to a short survey that you'll need to complete (will send this next week). Everyone who adds their feedback to this thread and completes the survey will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will receive a £250 Love2Shop voucher.

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw.
MNHQ

Thanks
Helen

I think that that £1 off voucher will do the most harm Indith long time no see! :)

Hello! How you doing?

Yes, I think the £1 is causing bad feeling. I understand why, I too expected more after they promised us something to make it up to us. I suppose I just feel it quite sad how grabby we all are expecting compensation for having Shock a perfectly good, free product in a different language.

I too find the washing smells if you leave it in the washer overnight. I have a fleece blanket of ds's that smells really fusty. I am not seeing the 25 washes as i think i have done 8 and the bottle is over half empty. I am using 4 pumps. The smell ,if washed and dried promptly , lasts for a while and smells clean.

I got the voucher too and i think it is nice if you buy method but i wouldnt have made a big deal about it being a 'gift'

But Indith, it's all relative, isn't it?

Had Method just sent me a letter saying 'thanks for participating in our trial, here's a £1 voucher, merry xmas and happy new year', then I would have thought 'ta' and -binned it with no ill feeling. After all, £1 isn't going to go very far, but I wouldn't have minded.

No-one made Method promise 1000 testers a free gift on top of the detergent (which I rather liked), but once they have sent out a whole 'mea culpa, gosh, this is just so embarassing, we are going to make it up to you, so watch out for your free gift' email, then they need to follow through.

And however you cut it, a second apologetic and irritating letter with a £1 discount token attached just does not qualify.

That's not being grabby. Its more that the whole thing feels a mite.....patronising, perhaps? As though we are some poor silly souls who were blessed by the great Method marketing teams munificence in the first instance, but not clever enough to understand French so needed a whole load of extra help and would obviously be enormously grateful for a pat on the back and badly printed voucher.....

I'm posting them back the £1 voucher, and asking them to send me a cheque. Then I can buy myself a box of maltesers, as an apology instead Grin

Sparklingbrook · 28/12/2012 14:48

I still don't understand why we needed an apology. We worked out what to do, it didn't really matter about the French instructions did it? So we got a free bottle to test and now have £1 to spend on any Method product so I am going to try some of the washing up liquid. Smile

FFS there's just no pleasing some people is there? They didn't have to send a voucher or letter so quit bleating.

i am another tester finding the £1 voucher has shot the company in the foot. i also feel a sorry and no mention of a gift would have been fine and/or a supprise voucher at the end would have been great. But a promise of a gift and then a voucher being sent is an anti climax.

MNHQ could the company consider a second love to shop voucher for the thread? and a promise to start using capitals in thier letters and website, its bloody annoying and hard work to keep it up.

Got my voucher this morning was was quite happy with it. Did notice that some testers seem to have got freebies but not others (I am in the 'others' camp, having not received any more samples).

To be honest I thought the £1 voucher a little on the mean side but will use it on one of their products as I use their granite worktop cleaner and their wood polish (absolutely wonderful smell on that). I will use this product again as I like the smell, compactness and cleaning power.

I do agree, though, that, overall, Method have done themselves a disservice with this voucher. It smacks of meanness and is for a paltry sum - people will remember that rather than the generally good views of their products.

Note to method: What a shame you promised a gift. It isn't a gift if I have to pay you money Xmas Biscuit

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

i really liked the look of the pump and it was very compact!what was slightly annoying in that my washing machine is 8ukg so it definitkey doesn't last 25 washes

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

the pump was great when it was full but even with the instructions on how to get out the last bit out it was still quite tricky to get it out at the right angle.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

the cleaning power was great and the fragrance was ok if a bit subtle for my liking.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

my normal washing liquid is much cheaper its £6 for 40 washes so will not be buying myself but would definitley reccomend it to friends and family

I thought you put the detergent straight in the washing machine barrel, and not the drawer Confused

Method must be really regretting this trial.

Sending out French bottles was a mistake that I don't think bothered anyone. A quick email with the translations and everything was sorted - or at least it should have been - but Method offered a "gift" in that email and a gift is not something that should cost you money imo.

I don't know why they bothered. There was no massive uproar about the French instructions as far as I could see and I'm sure no-one was ready to boycott the test because of the mix up. Personally, I was quite happy with my free bottle of washing liquid no matter what language it came in.

It's entirely likely that those who got the free washing up liquid samples did so because they're a part of this 'people against dirt' thing that Method also have running and it is pure coincidence that those people happen to be on this thread too. I think adding the testers on this thread to the mailing list for those samples would have probably gone down better than the vouchers though as there is nothing in Methods range that costs less than £1 so to take advantage of the "gift" everyone has to spend 4 or 5 (or more!) times that on one of their products making it less of a gift and more of a money spinner for method which is not really in the gift giving ethos if you ask me.

Yes, it's grabby to complain about a gift but I'm not sure that voucher counts as a gift.

Gosh what a lot of fuss over the instructions! Who needs instructions for washing liquid? The 4 squirts bit was clear. It worked for me... I've bought 2 more bottles since. I like the peony blossom fragrance better than the one they sent but they're both good. Thanks Method!

Oh and instructions for getting the last bit out? Er... I just unscrewed the top swished a bit of water around and poured it out.

Don't particularly have strong feelings either way about the voucher (arrived in the post this morning), but as there are no stores in my area that stock Method stuff, it won't get used.

Meh.

I quite liked my voucher especially with the light hearted letter - apart from the punctuation! I hadn't noticed Method products before but I did find some in my local Sainsburys and the £1 voucher is much appreciated - its better than nothing.

Q1

I thought it looked great. I like Thr method product design anyway and I was very impressed with the size, it was so small which is ideal for us as size for cleaning items is at a premium in our kitchen.

Q2

I can't think of anything I would change tbh, at least once I got the hang of the pump - it was quite squinty at first and I missed the drawer once or twice.

Q3

I liked Thr fragrance. It could probably have been a little bit stronger but it was nice. I didn't notice any difference in cleaning power, either better or worse, than the product I normally use.

Q4

I would definitely recommend it, based on th convenience of Thr storage alone, but it is a little pricey.

An addition - one reason I asked to take part in Thr test was that I was worried about spending so much on it and then DH and dd2 having an adverse reaction with their eczema. They have both been fine with it.

Thank you for choosing me to test MNHQ!

I didn't have strong feelings about the voucher...in fact I had forgotten that they offered a gift, or even that the instructions were in french to be honest.

I too noticed that the washing smells musty if left in washing machine too long (obviously I wash late at night for cheap elec rates not just leave it machine out of laziness Wink )

I wouldn't have realised that it was down to changing detergent if they hadnt sent me the voucher today which prompted me to check the thread....

I got a £1 off voucher too. That isn't a gift to me and it would have been better if they hadn't have bothered. Promising a gift then sending that is a bit off.

I haven't had a voucher :( and don't know if my instructions were in French or English as I didn't read them!

I like Method, I love their Clementine washing up liquid and would happily buy their products because they feel and smell less chemically than the competition.

Just to add - after having used nearly the whole bottle I'm really liking it (and DP does too) so we're planning to switch once I get the Fairy non-bio mountain used up (we'd stocked up...)

£1 voucher also arrived for me, must agree that its not much of a 'gift' Hmm personally the French instructions were not a problem really and a simple email/letter (with English instructions) and an apology would have been enough.
