How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?

Found the ointment pretty straight forward to use. It was easy to rub in and seemed to apply to the skin well. The amount I used varied each time.

How often and when did you use the ointment?

I used it with every nappy change each day.

How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?

I found it very good at preventing nappy rash. As the product test started DD was just getting over a very bad bout of nappy rash, and I'd feared it was returning. Within two days (or less) of using the ointment the nappy rash had totally gone. I'm very happy. (So is DD!)

Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?

I have used Bepanthum and Sudocrem. I preferred the consistency of Metanium to that of Bepanthum and preferred it to the smell of Sudocrem.

What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?

Thought the packaging was the weakest part of the product. The lid is so small and fiddly I lost it a few times and was concerned about it falling into DD's hands.

If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?

Would be very happy to recommend.

~ How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?

It was really easy to use and rub in. Used a bit much the first time.

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?

Just at night time, as we always have with creams.

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?

Well no nappy rash yet, but she isn't prone to it really.

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?

Bepanthan is what we usually use. In the morning I always wash dd's bottom with warm water but the Metanium was really hard to get off, it just smeared everywhere. With regard to effectiveness it seemed to do the job just as well.

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?

I like a tube, but a flip lid would be better.

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?

Definitely will recommend it, especially to friends who chikdren suffer badly with nappy rash at times. Different things work for different people and this could be just what they've been looking for.

Truffkin · 04/05/2012 23:28

I used the cream at every nappy change (I usually use sudocrem) and liked the texture, I didn't notice a particular smell. My son's skin is beautifully soft and he has had no soreness.

The only downside for me is the packaging, as the tube is not very convenient to open during a nappy change. I prefer not to leave the lid off, as the cream can 'creep' out of the tube so if I needed to re apply during the nappy change, it was less convenient than using a tub of cream.

If discussing the cream with other Moms, I would say that it is a good, protective barrier cream and recommend it with the caveat of the packaging comment above.

If it were available in a tub, I would have no qualms about switching to this cream from my usual brand.

How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?

  • very easy to use and spread easily! I used too much at first - it went a lot further than I thought!

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?

  • at every nappy change - so around 4/5 times a day.

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?

  • her skin did feel soft - but no more so than with other nappy creams. There were no rashes while I used it which ids a miracle for my dd.

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?

  • with dd1 I used Bepanthen and Metanium yellow when she got sore
  • with dd2 I have only really used Sudocrem as the yellow metanium was not as magic on her!
I think Sudocrem might be better value for money as I can get a largetub that lasts forever for £5 in Asda. However, it is not at all easy to carry around and the portable tube of Sudocrem is v expensive. So Bepathen may be a better option for my changing bag

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?

  • I like the packaging

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?

  • yes - I think it is the ease of spreading and the good coverage it gives thta made it stand out. I have always recommended yellow metanium - so I think it is just a brand you can trust
charlatan · 05/05/2012 09:25

~ How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?

It was really easy to use and rubbed in well. You didn't need very much product as it went a long way with good, even coverage.

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?

I used a little at most nappy changes.

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?

During the week I have used the product there has been no sign of nappy rash. My DD is not really prone to it though but does sometimes get a little redness. There was no redness while I used the product and her skin was nice and soft as always.

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?

I usually use a little Vaseline when I remember as a barrier cream and Sudocrem if there is any rash or redness.

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?

The colours and design were fine albeit a little bland. The tube would benefit from having a flip cap so it would be easier to do with one hand or even being in a tub like Sudocrem or Vaseline.

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?

It would depend on the price to be honest but after trying it I would recommend it as it does what it sets out to do.

Thanks

~ How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?

Very easy to use but due to dd being a wriggly thing it maybe wasn't rubbed in as thoroughly as possible, however still seemed to do the job

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?

Twice daily at nappy changes

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?

Skin didn't feel any softer but didn't develop any nappy ash - dd has sensitive skin to start with so this is a real positive

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?

None regularly, have used sudocreme occasionally in past before switching to jojoba oil, much prefer this cream to the sudocreme

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?

Liked the fact it was in a tube, would definitely prefer a flip lid (dd is fascinated by lids and one that size on the floor next to her whilst changing her is not a good idea!)

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?

Yes, does exactly what it says on the tin

Starshaped · 05/05/2012 14:03

~ How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use?
I followed the instructions on the tube and used a pea sized blob. I found that this was plenty, as a little bit seems to go a long way. The cream rubbed in easily, leaving a thin barrier layer on DD's bottom.

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?
I used it first thing in the morning and last thing at night over a period of 5 days. I also used it at other changes if her bum looked a bit pink.

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash?
DD's skin has looked and felt lovely and soft while using the cream. I thought the cream was very effective and really seemed to help. She came home from nursery with a slightly red bottom one day and the cream seemed to help, stopping it getting any worse.

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?
We normally use Sudocrem with about the same frequency as we used the Metanium. I thought that they both worked equally well. I definitely prefer the packaging for Sudocrem (tub rather than tube) but preferred the smell of Metanium.

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?
See above. I would prefer it in a small tub - less fiddly to get the lid off when trying to pin a wiggly baby down at the same time!

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?
As somebody else has said, I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend it but would speak positively of it if somebody asked if I'd used it.

celebmum · 05/05/2012 14:38

~ How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?

easy to use, took a few attempt to judge the correct amount to squeeze out, as you cant put it back and it ended up everywhere! not paticularly pleaseing as i would imagine 1tube wouldnt last very long anyway esp if its required to use at most nappy changes.

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?

at most nappy changes and before bed.

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?

DSs skin (usually pretty good, not had much nappy ash ever) felt clammy and soggy (think 'stayed in bath too long' skin) after a few uses. think 3-4 applications a day was too much for him.

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?

usually sudoceme but not as a daily type product, only as and when i felt he needed somthing extra. have used bepanthem also in the past when i thought it nappy rash was abit more sore.

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?

quite bland. not asthetic in any way really. cant say that i thought it would stand out on a shelf full of products.

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?

probably not if im honest. i dont like the name, too scientific/chemical sounding for a 'baby's bum' product. i didnt like the way DS's skin felt after a few applications.

BoysWillGrow · 05/05/2012 16:46

How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?
No different to sudocreme really, used a smaller amount then I otherwise would have because of the size of the tube though.

How often and when did you use the ointment?
Maybe once a day, more preventative than anything.

How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?
Well he didn't have a rash to begin with, so I used it as a preventative more than anything. His skin was soft anyway.

Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?
Well if and when I use a cream it's bepanthem which I prefer. Metanium I felt was sudocreme in a tube.

What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?
I thought it was fine really, it could do with looking a bit less medicine-like though, and maybe more bright as after all it's not a necessity to buy it.

If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?
I suppose so if it came up, as I'd perfer it to sudocreme as I don't like sudocreme packaging in tubs as bits always seems to get in it.

AnchorBun · 05/05/2012 21:41

~ How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?

It's a lovely texture, easy to apply and wash off hands/wipe of baby. Quantities easy to figure out.

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?

Used it after every nappy change over the week.

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?

Not sure there's been any change in her skin but there's been no nappy rash either so time will tell.

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?

I usually use Sudocrem as an everyday cream and Metanium nappy rash ointment when she when she shows signs of nappy rash. I much prefer it to Sudocrem, it's easier to apply, less greasy and, as a result, very easy to wash of.

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?

The box is unnecessary and the colours could be brighter. I like it being in a tube rather than a pot or tub, it stops it from getting under my nails!

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?

Yes I would, it's nice to apply and not too 'claggy'.

BadBuddha · 05/05/2012 23:51

~ How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?

Very easy to use, rubbed in/was absorbed easily. I just applied a thin layer.

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?

After every nappy change for five days after receipt of the the product.

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not

Difficult to say as my DS doesn't really suffer from nappy rash as a general rule, and his skin is amazingly soft and gorgeous anyway!

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?

Haven't really used a barrier cream, but use Sudocreme on the odd occasion he has any redness. He hasn't suffered from any redness while we've been trialling Metanium

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?

Seems fine to me.

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?

I would suggest it as an option if other parents were having a problem - I'm not sure it's made any difference to us, but that may be because my DS very rarely gets nappy rash anyway. In fact, I would probably offer them my tube to try. It's pleasant to use, but I don't find a barrier cream necessary as a rule.

footflapper · 06/05/2012 15:08

How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?
Initially I used too much, as there was a lot of residue, but soon worked out how much to use

How often and when did you use the ointment?
I used it with every nappy change when my ds was getting over D&V

How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?
I did notice some reddening, but it wasn't as bad as it has been when ds is getting over a tummy bug

Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?
Bepanthen. It definately stays on the skin longer, I had to wash my hands really well to get rid of it

What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?
I think it might be a good idea to have the top attached, like a toothpaste tube. I found when I put the tube down when using it, it would ooze out a little bit

If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?
Yes, I would recommend it

ouryve · 06/05/2012 16:10

~ How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?

I found it to be pretty much identical to sudocrem in use. It didn't rub right in, but left a film, which is what I was after. A blob on the end of my finger seemed about right. I found it hard to wash off my own hands, though.

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?

I've jsut used it the once, when DS2 was having a heavy wetting day. It's difficult to even get near him with bum creas because they set him off giggling and kicking on sight. (he's a 6 year old with ASD, so quite challenging to change when he starts this)

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?

His skin seemed less red and angry almost instantly and he's not been tugging at his pad, which he does when he's uncomfortable.

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?

We've used sudocrem or good old savlon when he's started to get a red bum, in the past. Metanium seems pretty much identical to sudocrem and DS2 obviously thought it was the same thing, judging by his reaction to the sight of it on my finger.

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?

The tube was very awkward to use and almost impossible to get the lid back on. The lid needs to be chunkier with a more forgiving thread.

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?

If i was asked if it was OK, I'd say yes.

MumToTiny · 06/05/2012 17:29

How easy to use:
Well, it's only rubbing in cream, hardly rocket science! The cream spreads easily, and has a non-greasy feel. Simple to know how much to use.

I only used the cream a few times, as DS developed a bit of nappy rash so I switched to Bepanthan.

See above, I discontinued use due to (rare for DS) nappy rash. He was under the weather at the time though, so may have been nothing to do with the metanium.

I don't use a regular barrier cream as we use cloth nappies which have led to DS being pretty much rash-free unless teething. If I need to use something, Bepanthan works quickly, so I'll probably stick with that in the future.

The packaging is a little pale, and unlikely to jump out to me from a crowded shelf. The cap is too small, and rather fiddly to remove one-handed. A plastic tube would be better than metal.

I probably wouldn't recommend metanium everyday as other products suit us better. However, as a pharmacist I do recommend metanium ointment (the horrible yellow one!) for stubborn nappy rash, and would try it myself if needed.

Thanks for letting us take part, it was interesting to try something new!

NicksWife · 06/05/2012 20:28

~ How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?

It was easy to work out how much to use - the tube said pea sized amount and that was about right for my DD. The ointment was easy to apply, not too greasy and easy to remove from clothing and my hands.

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?

I have used the ointment for every nappy change for a week now.

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?

DD skin felt really soft and smooth. She has had nappy rash every now and again and I was treating it with Sudocrem as and when it occurred, but she hasn't had nappy rash at all this week which I was impressed with. She has had nappy off time everyday, which she always has, and I find that this is a good way to prevent nappy rash and really helps it to heal.

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?

I have been using Boots zinc and caster oil cream. It comes in a large pot and was good value for money. I do find it greasy though and quite wet on the skin, the ointment was dry on the skin - yet still easy to apply.

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?

The packaging was nice, but could it be a bolder colour? Metanium has a bright tube and is easy to recommend to friends, I just say, "It's a yellow box and begins with M." Then friends can find it easily. I honestly still struggle to remember the name of the product!! A brighter and bolder colour on the box would make it easier to recommend the ointment to friends.

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?

Yes I would.

SchrodingersMew · 07/05/2012 02:01

~ How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?

Very easy! I hate Sudocreme as is it too thick and others are too oily, this was perfect.

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?

I used it at every nappy change for a week.

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?

Definitely softer and no redness.

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?

I had been using Metanium nappy rash creme as I didn't know you weren't supposed to use it at every nappy change. Blush Also occasionally use "Kamillosan", "Bepanthen" and "Sudocreme".

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?

A bit boring when compared to the nappy rash creme, it doesn't stand out very well. I think the yellow box and tube should be used for the everyday as well or another bright colour.

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?

I already recommend the nappy rash creme all the time as I think it is brilliant but I will now also recommend the every day creme as it isn't expensive, feels lovely and protected his bum.

champagnesuperdupernova · 07/05/2012 11:51

~ How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?
Found it easy, was easy to rub in and easy to work out how much to use

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?
Used at most nappy changes

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?
DS's skin does seem softer

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?
Don't use a barrier cream normally but was impressed with this.

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?
^My issue is the same as with the main Metanium cream, which I have recommended left, right and centre.
The tube is nice and small to put in change bags. BUT you often need the tiniest of dabs, so I have decanted to a travel sized pot in the past. It's also sometimes difficult to wrestle with unscrewing the cap when you have a wriggly baby with which to deal.^

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?
Probably, it seems to be as good as its full strength counterpart,

StopEatingThatMud · 07/05/2012 12:38

~ How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?
A: In theory, very easy. It was easy to rub in and the instructions on the side of the box gave a clear indication of how much to use. In practice however, with a ridiculously wriggly 11 month old DD, even being pinned to the floor with 1 leg (thanks MNetters for that pearl of wisdom by the way!) I am generally looking to get nappy changes over and done with as quickly as possible with minimal fuss.

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?
A: I have been TRYING to use it for the past 4 days or so at every nappy change! In reality I have used it once or twice each day as I just couldn't get DD to lay still for long enough the rest of the time.

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?
DD doesn't suffer massively with nappy rash other than occasionally when teething so I didn't notice a massive difference. I will say when I used it overnight, combined with using a cheaper supermarket brand of nappies, rather than my usual Pampers, DD's skin had no redness at all and was very soft in the morning, whereas as normally this is the only time you can tell she's had a wet nappy so I think the product would definitely make a difference is DD suffered from soreness/redness more.

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?
I used Sudocrem when DD was tiny, but she is now 11 months and I've not used anything for quite a while. I only used Sudocrem as it was free in my Bounty pack and it was one less thing to think about, having to make a decision of what to buy! I use normal Metanium when DD does occasionally get nappy rash when teething and it is AMAZING. Nothing else even compares!

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?
I was a bit...bland for me. A bit pale and wishy washy I suppose. I like bolder colours though. The instructions were clear and I liked that everything you needed to know was on the box rather than on an enclosed leaflet which DD is a big fan of ripping up/attempting to eat/generally losing. DD also thoroughly enjoyed using the box as a rattle with the tube in, which did help keep her still for a few seconds more so thanks for that!

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?
Definitely if they were looking for something to help prevent nappy rash.

CarryOnMatron · 07/05/2012 13:22

~ How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?

I really liked the texture, it felt more like a cream than a greasy ointment. It was nice to rub in and easy to wash of my hands after application unlike normal ointments. I thought it was easy to work out how much to use.

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?

After every nappy change.

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?

It seemed to do the job, no sore bottoms whilst using it.

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?

I tend to only use sudacreme and only when already sore. I liked this product but i'm not sure that I would like having to use two different products, one for prevention and one when they actually got sore. Also if i was using this after every nappy change i'd worry about how many tubes of metanium everyday i'd get through in a week.

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?

I didn't feel that the box was neccessary really, the packaging is a bit boring and not very eye catching.

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?

Probably.

fallingandlaughing · 07/05/2012 13:48

How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?

The ointment was easy to use. It went in easily and had an inoffensive smell and texture. It absorbed easily so I didn't need to scrabble around for a babywipe to clean it off of my hands.

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?

I used the ointment every change for several days.

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?

I think it would have a preventative effect for most babies. DD had less redness than usual, but then developed very raw skin - more likely due to her excema and allergies, not something a non-prescription cream could have prevented. DD's skin felt very soft - as did my hands!

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?'

Varies depending on DD's skin. I felt it was more effective than the Boots nappy cream we have been trying recently.

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?

Packaging OK but a tub would be easier. Mobile babies have a habit of squeezing tubes and I don't like loose caps that could be a choking hazard.

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?

Yes, I would.

Hi. Thanks for my sample. I've used it for about a week now, so have given it a good trial..... I've only used it on my newborn (5 weeks old), not on my toddler (age 3, and out of nappies - but occassionally has a sore bottom and asks for cream). Obviously (!) I've mainly used it in the nappy area, but have also applied to to newborn's (cheesey) armpits.

~ How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?
The tube is not idea for every day use, as it's fiddly unscrewing the lid. A flip top would be much better. I started using a smallish amount (size of a pea or two), and quickly realised that this was plenty, perhaps even too much. A tube will last a long time - much longer than I thought when I first saw it. I think some people might be put off by the small looking tube - it seems tiny compared to a tub of sudocreme.

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?
I used it at most nappy changes (except night ones - lazy!).

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?
It felt nice and silky, and like it would be effective. My newborn didn't get any nappy rash, but to be honest I'm not sure if he would have got any if I wasn't using the cream.

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?
I don't always use a barrier product, but if I do I use (lashing's of) sudocreme. Metanium felt lighter / silkier and I applied much much less - which is probably a good thing.

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?
The packaging was ok, but nothing exciting. In keeping with the metanium brand, but I might improve it by making it a nicer colour - perhaps reversing the blue/purple and white.

Yes.

easy as any other cream and preferable to a tub. Spread really nicely and left a visible layer even with a wriggly baby. Not nearly as thick as normal metanium. i only needed a small amount which was excellent. Would prefer a bigger tube if its for daily use and also a bigger lid. Please design a onehanded lid or one that cant roll away?

How often and when did you use the ointment?

after every nappy change today .... had to wait for an existing sore bit to clear

How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?

skin def softer ... will update on effectiveness. Back teeth coming in so that usually causes a flare up

Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?'

i generally dont use a barrier cream. I use original metanium when any sore bits appear> have tried bepanthen and sudocream but never been impressed enough with either to purchase regularly

What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?

See my comments at start r.e lid. Trying to hold down a wriggly baby and put a lid on is a nightmare. Packaging a bit bland> I wouldnt grab it if i didnt already know the brand

Need a few more days to see if im that impressed

Pretty easy to use. Easy enough to rub in but you really don't need much at all. Size of a pea was too much for my DS's bum (but he is only a few weeks old). Nice that it is fragrance free.

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?

Started using it every nappy change when we got it but within a few nappy changes it started to make DS's bum red (see below) so we used it a few times for a few nappy changes but then gave up with it.

I suspect we're in the minority here, but after a few uses, I noticed that his bottom was starting to look red so had to stop and use sudocrem for a few changes until that calmed down. Then started again with it and the same thing happened. Then again the same thing. Then I've been trying with no cream at all (in case he just has a bottom that goes red!) and he's been fine with nothing so it did seem to be the cream that made him start to go red. DH wondered if it was perhaps if he was still a teeny bit damp under the cream that it was locking in the damp? But to be honest I can't be bothered with a cream that means I have to spend ages trying to get him 100% dry before I put it on - He's a newborn boy and thus prone to weeing or pooing during changes so speed is of the essence!

Didn't really notice his skin being any more or less soft, but since he's so young he bum is super soft anyway.

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?

No regular barrier cream, but use sudocrem for mild redness / nappy rash and bring out the metanium yellow stuff (the big guns!) when it's worse

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?

Seemed to fit the metanium family as in similar to the other metanium cream but not very bright so wouldn't jump off the shelf at me unless i knew what i was looking for.

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?

Probably not (as above it didn't seem to work for us), unless someone was specifically saying they were looking for a barrier cream (I don't even know if most people use a barrier cream at all?). If someone asked me I'd say it was out there but didn't work for us.

Thank you for letting me test this cream

It is quite easy to use, rubs in well.
I don't tend to use creams when there is no rash, so it's not been on DDs bottom yet, but it has been on the back of her knees where she keeps getting red lumpy bits around the creases. Whenever I remember to put it on (usually bedtime) it really calms the redness down by the morning so I must remember to do it in the mornings too.

Dd liked it too, she got hold of the tube and rubbed a far bit into the carpet before I could grapple it back, we have a nice white patch now :)

Packaging:
I really don't like metal tubes. You squeeze to get some out, stop squeezing when you've got enough, and then it just keeps coming out!! Most annoying and hard to be precise when you're trying to keep a baby still with the other hand. A flip top lid would be an excellent idea too.

I'm not sure if I'd recommend it, I do recommend classic metanium to lots of people, but a preventative cream is not so.. compelling, I guess. That said I don't have particularly rash prone children so just haven't really had much need for them I suppose.
