I noticed that about the lid too as I have both tubes in my changing box. It was far more fiddly getting this one off than metanium ointment, especially considering you would be taking the lid on and off far far more if it was designed for each nappy change. I'm conscious of losing it or dropping it on the changing mat as it is tiny.

How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?

Would prefer a flip lid. Used a pea sized amount as directed. I LOVED the texture, it felt dry but moisturising, liked the fact it left a thin film.

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?

At night only, I use cloth in the day and I'd need a liner if I were using this with a cloth nappy.

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?

No nappy rash before or after and no noticeable difference in skin softness.

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?

I've used Sudocrem and Benpanthen to treat a rash before. Would definitely try Metanium treatment cream now I've used the Everyday.

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?

Yes, hate metal tubes because they crack. A flip lid better. And it would be great if you could say roughly how many nappy changes it would do you on the packaging - once the tube gets two thirds empty, it will prob be difficult to estimate how much was really left, especially in metal tubes where little bits hide everywhere.

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?
Yes, it had a lovely texture and felt nice to use. Would depend on price point tho.

TinyDiamond · 01/05/2012 18:05

Easy to use and rub in have used every change for last 3 days.
Easy to tell how much to use.
I usually use sudocrem I like how it is thinner than that and I find it easier to wash off my hands after application.
I like the tube and prefer it to a pot.
Have not noticed any difference in rash as dd didn't have rash before and doesn't have one now!
The thing I did not like is that it doesn't seem to have much of a smell to me. I prefer products with a slight fragrance or fresh smell. Ie sudocrem has a very distinctive smell.
I would probably not buy this product again as I'm just not sure if we need it. But if it was cheaper than sudocrem I probably would.
Have used regular metainium for rashes with great results and always recommend that to anyone

WowOoo · 01/05/2012 18:11

Very easy to use and easy to rub in.

The only problem I have with tubes like this is that it keeps coming out after I've used enough. So, it's a bit wasteful. this happened even when I was very careful.
These tubes easily have holes and cracks in them that leak, so not my favourite container.

Have used it at every nappy change. Actually saw an improvement in son's skin and so I may continue to use it at every nappy change rather than just when he is sore.

Thought it was very effective.

I have used Sudocrem and Bepanthen before.
My favourite was bepanthen for the scent.
I prefer a tub or a thicker tube. One that toothpaste comes in would be fine also.

Other than that the packaging was fine.
Regarding the name, I also think of meconium. I suppose it is related, so that's not a huge problem.

Yes, i'd recommend it as it was a good product.

Thanks for letting me test it!

~ How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?

Very easy. Easy to rub in and it felt nice on my hands and not oily at all.
I liked that it left a white mark so I could tell where I had rubbed it in and do I didn't use too much.

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?

In the morning and before bed.

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?

DS didn't get nappy rash, and his skin felt very soft after using it.

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?

I use Sudocreme in the mornings and Boots Zinc and Castor Oil in the evenings. I prefer it to the Sudocreme as it doesn't seem to have a smell and it is less greasy than the Boots cream.

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?

It isn't an 'exciting' packaging, but it is clean and fresh looking. I like it in a tube as its easy to get a small amount out and light to carry around.

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Matanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?

I would, but I find it difficult to remember the name of the product!

realhousewifeofdevoncounty · 01/05/2012 18:41

~ How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?

It seemed to rub in adequately. Though I suppose the idea is to not rub it in completely but leave some as a barrier on the skin? It wasn't difficult to judge how much to use, as I would just apply enough to cover the important areas, the same with any other cream! Though the tube was smaller than the usual size tubs you get barrier cream in, sudocrem etc, so I did wonder if you were supposed to use it more sparingly, like metanium treatment oitnment.

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?

Every nappy change. Though occasionally I have forgot to put it in the nappy bag when my daughter has gone to the childminder!

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?

When I first started using this my daughter did have a bit of a rash (didn't really get on with sudocrem that we were using previously). So I used this is conjunction with metanium treatment ointment (we use this whenever she has a rash and it is brilliant), and as soon as the rash went (very quickly) we used the barrier ointment on its own. Her rash has not come back since. I have also noticed that the cream is very moisturising and her skin is soft and in lovely condition.

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?

We originally used Neal's Yard Baby Barrier which is amazing but very expensive (gift from mother-in-law!). We couldn't really afford to keep using this so we switched to sudocrem, but this gave her a rash. I think because both of the superior products are very mildly fragranced, or fragrance free, this made a difference compared to sudocrem which has a very strong fragrance. I would also point out that we have only used two tubs of the Neal's Yard stuff since our daughter's birth, we had only just run out and she is now 16 months! This is because it comes in such a large tub. Therefore on balance it is not that expensive. The metanium barrier ointment seems equally as good so far, and I'm not sure how much it will cost, but if I find that the tube runs out quickly I might be persuaded to go back to the Neal's Yard stuff, so may be worth larger tubs so that it is definitely good value?

I also like that the barrier ointment is colourless and doesn't stain hands/clothes like metanium treatment ointment!

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?

I thought it was fine, no particular criticism. I think the tube is quite small, so this may put people off when compared to the other barrier creams on the shelf that tend to come in larger tubs. I'm also not sure that having it in a metal tube is practical - a fiddly screw top lid that could be a choking hazard. The tube of metanium treatment cream we have has split on the side so it goes everywhere every time you use it, so I'm guessing this may happen with the tube of barrier ointment in time.

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?

Yes definitely! I already recommend metanium treatment ointment at every opportunity and even put some in a hamper for my friend who recently had a baby as I swear by it. So far I am equally as delighted with the barrier cream so would happily recommend it, especially if it is as reasonably priced. Don't know if it helps the people at Metanium, but I found out about your treatment ointment after I read about it in Jo Frost's "Confident Baby Care"Blush. She seems to be a fan of your other products, so might be worth sending some to her to see if she likes it and maybe get some celebrity endorsement! Grin

How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?
It was easy to apply and to work out how much to use. The difficulty was getting my very stroppy 2 year old to submit to having any cream put on at all.

How often and when did you use the ointment?
I only used it once, at night time.

How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?
My dd developed a pimply rash on some of her skin where I had applied the cream. She has never had this before so I assumed it was because of the Metanium. She has eczema and has had funny skin reactions to other things in the past as well as a nut allergy, so her reactions to some things are not typical. I suspect she may be one of the rare cases that develops a "mild skin irritation" described as a possible side effect on the pack. I'm a bit reluctant to give it another go, although I guess there is a possibility that the pimples have nothing to do with metanium. Sorry.

Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?
I've used Bepanthum. My dd did not react negatively to this.

What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?
Packaging is OK but it might not stand out on a shelf.

If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?
I probably wouldn't recommend Metanium to others simply because I suspect it may have irritated my dd's skin. Instead of solving a problem, it caused another one. Sorry.

~ How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?

Easy to use, smoothly rubbed in but left an effective barrier

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?
Most nappy changes - maybe not if just a wee.

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?

No noticeable increase in softness but no rash occurring even after soiled nappies and a runny nose (seomtimes linked!)

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?

Have used sudocrem, thought it was comparable product in terms of texture, coverage and effectiveness.

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?
Doesn't really stand out. Box looks quite medicalised so the information that it is NOT a rash cream was important to highlight as it was. Prefer cream in a tub like sudocrem as you can be sure you've used it all instead of squeezing to get it out at the end and leaving some inside.

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?

Yes probably, based on this sample but would want to check out the price first.

How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?
really easy to apply, easy to know how much

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?
every nappy change

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?
no nappy rash and softer skin (i think)

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?
haven't used any before, only cream to treat rashes

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?
i liked the tube, colours are a bit forgettable, no idea how to say the name

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to
other parents? If so why, if not why no
yes i would, i would also use it in the future as it did the job and had more poositives than negatives.

oreocrumbs · 01/05/2012 19:31

~ How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?

I found it very easy to use. It has a lovely texture - very smooth and silky and it spread evenly and quickly. I used the amount that I would use when I put toothpaste my toothbrush, and found that to be plenty.

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?

Twice a day, before bed and her morning nappy. I don't put cream on at every nappy change unless she actually has nappy rash.

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?

DD's skin has improved (she was just over a rash from last week). She had no signs of irritation. Her skin feels lovely and soft.

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?

Sudocrem, I much prefered the metanium, I find sudocrem too gloopy and feel it stops the nappy soaking up as much urine as it does without. I felt metanium was much 'lighter'.

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?

It is nice enough, fairly standard baby product looking. Wouldn't stand out on the shelf IMO, but I did like it.

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?

Yes I would. I really liked the product and if it becomes available while DD is still in nappies I will switch.

Overall I really liked the product. I will buy it when it becomes available. I think it is all round a better product than sudocrem and bepanthen (only other brands I have used). Also my DD has eczema and this product did not irritate her at all.

ipanicked · 01/05/2012 19:54

~ How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?

It was lovely to use, really smooth, rubbed in easily, I just put a tiny blob on my finger and found a little bit went quite a long way

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?

With every nappy change

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?

I thought it was brilliant - DD is a bit prone to patches of mild nappy rash, but had absolutely none at all while using this product

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?

I used Sudocrem before when she got nappy rash and at night but it's too thick and gloopy and difficult to clean off in comparison. This was fab, prevented all nappy rash, easy to clean off (her bum and my hands) and a lovely consistency. It doesn't smell either which I really like as I'm not keen on the smell of Sudocrem.

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?

I wasn't so keen on the metal tube as they break and split and the lid is a choking hazard. DD unfortunately thought the lid was great and had a tantrum every time I trying to hide it if she spotted it. The size of the tube would be great for a nappy bag but very annoying for everyday use when a tub would be more practical, more cost effective and less likely to get lost in a corner of the bathroom.

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?

I would, especially if I could buy it in larger pots! I actually really like this product and I will definitely buy it when it becomes available.

Bonkerz · 01/05/2012 20:06

~ How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?

Very easy to use. I used about a cm of cream at a time which seemed to give perfect coverage on my large 11 month old son's botty!

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?

Like it said on the packaging I use it every day! I tend to apply cream at every nappy chnage anyway so i just swapped sudocrem for metanium everyday.

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?

Normally I use sudocrem at every nappy change and use metanium (the yellow one) when DS looks sore. I find sudocrem just sits on DSs skin and doesnt actually prevent him getting sore but i was impressed with metanium everyday as have been using it for 3 days now and DS bottom is lovely and smooth with no redness at all.

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?

see above comments. I prefer metanium everyday to sudocrem for sure!

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?

packaging fine although would prefer larger tube or maybe dispenser type packaging then it can stay on my changing unit and i can use it more freely. Dinspenser would work well as like i said im a childminder so change MANY nappies a day and easy access like a dispenser would also be more hygenic.

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?

I actually did today! my friend was moaning that sudocrem appears to stop the nappy absorbing wee and i mentioend i was using metanium everyday......she had tried bepanthem but found it too sticky to apply. I let her use my cream :0( and she loved how it felt and how it applied easily.

nancerama · 01/05/2012 20:11

~ How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?

It was pretty easy to use. It was less sticky than sudocreme and spread out easily. The packaging advises to use a "pea sized amount" - you probably need to use less than that (unless I'm used to bigger peas, or DS has a particularly tiny behind). It seemed to stay put until each nappy change.

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?

I try to use it every nappy change. I've been using it since the weekend.

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?

Despite a couple of stealth poos, there has been no trace of dress or nappy rash. It remains to be seen if it could cope with a nasty tummy bug or teething poo though. His skin felt as soft as it always does.

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?

I've used sudocreme before and hated it - it's much too sticky and hard to spread. I usually use Waitrose Baby Bottom Butter - I love it because it smells delicious and only has 4 ingredients.

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?

The packaging looked fine, but is nothing exciting or eye catching. I like a tube for the nappy bag, but much prefer a tub for use at home. DS likes to explore everything, and a tube with a small cap worries me in case he tries to swallow the cap. I let him play with creams in tubs to amuse him while he's being changed. I would neve let him play with a tube.

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?

Possibly. A few of my friends use metanium for nappy rash, so I would probably let them know that an every day cream is on the market. If it handles teething poos well, I would definitely recommend.

ladywithnomanors · 01/05/2012 20:28

~ How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?

I found the ointment really easy to use. The instructions on the tube were clear so I knew only to use a pea sized amount and apply a thin layer. The ointment went on smoothly and the tube allowed you to squeeze out just the right amount whereas if the cream had been in a jar/tub it would have been easy to take out too much.

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?

Every nappy change for 4 days.

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?

There was no redness or rash during use so I would say that if used regularly the ointment could prevent nappy rash. My daughter's bottom did feel very soft with the ointment.

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?

Before this I have used Sudocrem as an every day barrier cream and ordinary yellow Metanium when nappy rash has been bad. After using this ointment I would say that Sudocrem has quite a strong fragrance compared to this ointment and you need to apply more Sudocrem too.

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?

I think the packaging is fine. A tube is ideal to dispense a small pea sized amount.

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?

Yes I would recommend to a mum whose child was prone to nappy rash as I've found it to be effective.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 01/05/2012 20:35

How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use ? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use?
It was very easy, good tube. It is quite white compared to Bepanthan that I normally use but think I squeezed too much at first.
How often and when did you use the ointment?
All daytime nappy changes as DD is on antibiotics
How effective was it at preventing nappy rash?
It was good as she would normally have a sore bum after being on medicine.
Which if any barrier product did you use before?
Bepanthan and it's comparable and I think a bit cheaper. I use traditional yellow Metanium for bad rash and to me, that is irreplaceable
What did you think about the packaging?
Nothing special
If it came up in conversation would you recommend
Yes, definitely.

stressheaderic · 01/05/2012 20:47

How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?
Easy to apply, only needed a small amount.

How often and when did you use the ointment?
A few times, at night time, on my 2 year old.

How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?
I couldn't tell, as DD had no rash to start with, and none after. It didn't seem to do anything.

Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?
I've used Sudocrem which deserves its long-standing reputation as the market leader, as it just works. This new cream was a different, drier texture to Sudocrem which may suit some people.

What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?
I would be attracted by the name as I'm familiar with Metanium Ointment, in fact, I swear by it. I like white box for white cream.

If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?
Hmmm, I'd suggest the 'Metanium' family, as the ointment is fabulous. But the Everyday cream, is yet to prove itself to me. I hated the metal tube, why? And the fiddly lid, so tiny (and chokable). Flip top lid please.

glenthebattleostrich · 01/05/2012 20:52

How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?

Very easy to get the right amount, rubbed into skin well and didn?t dissolve right into skin so you could see where you?d already applied the cream. The cream was a really nice and had a lovely texture. It also didn't trigger my excema, which is always a bonus!

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?

5 times a day at nappy changes for 4 days.

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?

Really effective. DD is teething at the moment which is usually her trigger for nappy rash, she has 3 very runny poos and gets very red immediately after pooing. The cream stopped that. I?m very impressed.

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?

I?ve used sudocrem, bepanthem, tesco own brand and boots own brand. Metanium was better than them all.

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?

I liked the packaging, it was simple and clean. This would make it stand out on the shelf I think.

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?

I already have, it?s great.

SoundOfHerWings · 01/05/2012 20:59

~ How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?

It was very easy to use, not as greasy as bepanthen and not as messy as sudocrem. A little went a long way, it ws easy to rub in and it felt nice on my daughter's skin.

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?

At every nappy change this weekend.

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?

It didn't seem to make much difference, and I didn't notice any difference in my daughter's skin. I ended up using Bepanthen on a red patch, as the Metanium didn't seem to clear it up.

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?

Nothing- we use cloth nappies and have never really needed a barrier product, just regular 'bare bum time' and a bath every night. I like the Metanium though- it leaves less residue and so is better for cloth nappy users then heavier creams.

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?

I really don't like the packaging- it doesn't stand out at all and looks very 'value'. The cap is way too small- it's just impossible to hold a squirming baby and try and unscrew it, and there's no way I'd use it when out, the lid would be lost in minutes.

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?

No- it made no difference to my daughter, and didn't clear up the red patch that she did get. If they used a cream everyday I would recommend this over Sudocrem or Bepanthen, as it's much lighter and nicer to use.

mamij · 01/05/2012 21:00

~ How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?

I've used this for three days now and found the ointment fairly easy to apply. It rubbed in to my baby's skin fairly well. I always squeeze out less cream, and add more to it, rather than squeezing out too much.

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?
I used it at every nappy change. I found it most effective at night (as DD2 has one nappy for the night) as it kept her bottom nice and protected. It was too excessive for every nappy change during the day.

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?
I think it helped with preventing nappy rash at night. But applying it at every nappy change during the day was too much. Sometimes I found it left a white mark on her bottom that needed to be wiped away.

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?
I used Sudocream before, and prefer Sudocream as I didn't need to use it at every change. I have also used vaseline as a barrier protection, which also works very well (sorry Metanium!)

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?
The packaging is very plain and I wouldn't necessarily pick it up in the shop - maybe make it stand out a bit more. A tub version or a flip lid would be easier to use

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?
I would mention I did a trial and liked it. But would probably add that you wouldn't need to use it at every nappy change.

Easy to use if DS not 'helping' a Flip top lid would have saved some extra getting squeezed out.
Easy to rub in, loved the fact that I could see where Id put it without using too much.

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?
After every change. Except the 3am one...

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?
Excellent, much better than the (many) others I have tried. No redness or rash, there is usually a red patch somewhere, if not any actual rash. However his skin was not softer.

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?
A variety of gifts and hopeful purchases, Metanium, much better, less greasy than the nearest most effective, much nicer to use than Sudocrem.

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?
Like the low key look, I always feel a bit ripped off if there is a lot of gaudy colours on the packet, as tho its a poor product trying to sell on looks alone.

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?
Definately yes.

Not amazingly easy to use. To avoid messing around with it (leaving it germ covered) straight after cleaning bum I squeezed a bit onto the back of my left hand and got it from there. Takes a bit of time to spread over the skin and I needed a suprising amount.

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?

Most nappy changes for the last 3 days.

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?

Looks amazingly soft and healthy, I can't deny!

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?

Oily sorts of barrier eg waitrose bottom balm, green baby balm, kamillosan ointment.

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?

A little plain, also, sounds a bit daft, but would have liked it if the product was a distinctive colour like standard metanium - blue perhaps?!

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?

Possibly but more as a treatment before Metanium or as a night time barrier, not for every change, seems overkill.

Q1
Easy to use and rub in. Easier than Sudocreme or Metanium rash ointment to get off your hands too!
Q2.
Every change since receiving it on Friday.
Q3.
She had no issues before or during use so difficult to judge. She has, however, got a dry patch on her leg which I used it on and it seemed softer/more moisturised after a few days use.
Q4.
I'm not tied to any one brand and will use what's around. Prefer the feel of Bepanthen but like the way that Sudocreme is so "obvious". Metanium everyday is more like Bepanthen. But I use it spoadically as neither of mine are prone to rashes. Though when they do get them they come out of nowhere.
Q5.
I thought the lilac colour was a bit insipid if I'm honest. It does imply gentleness, I suppose.
But, seriously, a metal tube? Really? It scratches if you have to squeeze it directly onto a wriggling baby because you haven't got 2 hands to use. Also the tiny lid is liable to disappear when the toddler spots it rolling around on the floor next to you and wriggling baby. Also, as an everyday cream the tiny tube won't last long.
My suggestion would be a (much) larger version of the plastic flip top Sudocreme that appeared last year.
Q6.
I might mention it as an alternative to Sudocreme as I know some people don't like the consistency of it, but not sure I'd recommend it. Will, and have on many occasions, recommended Metanium Rash Ointment. That stuff is miraculous. If only it didn't stain everything bright yellow it would be damn near perfect.

~ How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?
Tube says how much to apply though I thought this was too much- you only need a tiny amount. I didn't like the texture at all, nor the way it requires rubbing in so much, nor the way it seemed to rub off on the nappy rather than be absorbed properly. My husband really hated the feeling of it on his fingers when he'd applied it to DS.

~ How often and when did you use the ointment? after dirty nappies (as opposed to just wet ones!) and overnights, as we do with our normal barrier cream- over the weekend.

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?
My DS's skin was drier than usual (we had this problem when we've had to use the metanium to treat nappy rash). It did soothe a slightly red patch very quickly.

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?
Bepanthen. I much prefer Bepanthen to the Metanium Everyday as it's lighter/smoother and absorbs into skin very quickly. Bepanthen seems to be more moisturising too and doesn't dry out DS's skin.

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?
Looks like a heavy duty cream rather than something for everyday use. Not sure I'd pick it up. Seems to be relying on the brand to sell but the brand isn't even shown that distinctively. Box is dull and dated. The tube lid is quite fiddly.

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?
I would recommend Metanium ointment as it clears up rashes very quickly. I'd mention the Everyday ointment if a child was particularly prone to nappy rash as it seems to be effective. Overall though, probably not- I think Bepanthen is a nicer product for reasons above, and it works better for my DS.

How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?

Very easy to rub in, and apply, I liked good texture

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?

most nappy changes whilst using terry nappies! Have used it in the nappy change before I go to bed and generally it has lasted.

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?

No signs of nappy rash, and skin soft anyway.

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?
Bepanthan and baby bottom butter

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?

packaging ok, not really noticable.

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Matanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?

I would recommend, but baby bottom butter smells nicer, but prob not as effective. thank you will def use again!

I found the cream easy and pleasant to use. I usually use sudocrem and preferred the metanium as it's not as greasy and rubs in more easily. I do prefer the smell of sudocrem though. I used it at every nappy change at the weekend and it did keep my son's bottom soft and free from redness. My main gripe is the packaging - I hate the metal tube, which cracks easily, and the lid is diddly to remove and a potential choking hazard. A plastic tube and flip-top lid would be much better.
