~ How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?

I don't know how much I can say about Metanium really! I find all the nappy creams much of a muchness. That said, yes it was easy to rub in and to work out how much to use.

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?

I use it most changes, particularly when DS has a sore bottom which he gets from time to time.

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?

I didn't notice that his skin felt any softer. I don't think I've been using it long enough to tell for certain but it seems to be reasonably effective.

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?

I used the Sudocrem that I got with the Bounty pack, and a tube of Earth Friendly Baby that I got before DS was born, and a tube of another brand I can't remember the name of (another green one) that I also got before he was born. (He is 17 months old now). I think they are all pretty much the same.

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?

I found the cap was sometimes awkward to replace. I prefer tubes with a much bigger cap.

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?

If I ever have a conversation about babies' bottoms, I might mention it.

How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?
I found the ointment very easy to use, not at all sticky, pleasant texture and rubs in nicely to my boy's bottom. I used a little too much the first time but when I realised it spreads in the same way Metanium nappy rash cream does I soon worked out that less is more.

How often and when did you use the ointment?
After every change as my son has dry skin problems and eczema flares all around the nappy edges regularly.

How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?
It was as effective as sudocrem and bepanthen. The skin did feel softer on those areas which suffer dryness. On the normal skin it was just the same as it always is.

Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?
Sudocrem, Bepanthen. It compared favourably to both, not so much because it is any better but because it is much nicer to apply.

What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?
Not outstanding, It doesn't stand out and like other posters I would prefer a small tub or perhaps a flattish screw on pot like some hair wax comes in.

If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?
Yes I would because it does the job and is pleasant to use.

EddieIzzardIsMine · 01/05/2012 13:17

~ How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?

Found it really easy, the 'powdery' texture means it spreads easily and 'dries' on the skin rather thn other creams that get everywhere as they are 'wetter' and more easily spread onto surrounding furniture by flailing baby limbs!

Glad this one isnt yellow too, various vests etc stained with Metanium Rash cream.

Easy enough to work out how much, just a little squeeze of the tube

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?

Twice a day - first nappy of the day and bedtime nappy

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?

DS didnt have nappy rash to start and still hasn't so guess its worked in that respect, difficult to say that he would have got one without the cream though....

Not noticed any softer bottoms if I'm honest!

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?

Didn't use any barrier cream regularly, have tried Sudacrem and Bepantham but both did nothing/made nappy rash worse so we tend not to use anything and use Metanium Rash cream at the first redness

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?

Thought the packaging looked a bit dated, would have preferred more funky colours or even the yellow of the original Metanium to show a 'brand'

Hate the metal tube though, it gets sharp as you have to fold it when getting to the bottom and the top can squeeze into a different shape meaning the lid wont go on properly and leave a gap - would prefer plastic tubing.

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?

Would recommend the brand Metanium but not sure if this specifc product

mejon · 01/05/2012 13:22

~ How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?

Very easy to use but may have used too much as it did leave a layer on DD's skin. There was residue on the nappy when it was time to change it too.

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?

I used it at every nappy change initially but DD developed nappy rash which she rarely does so I stopped using it and went back to the yellow Metanium to clear it up.

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?

See above! DD got nappy rash despite using it, I changed immediately after soiling her nappy as I always do - conicidence or not - I don't know!

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?

I don't generally use a barrier cream but if DD is looking a bit red I'll sometimes put a layer of Kamillosan on her or yellow Metanium if it's looking particularly angry.

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?

Packaging ok - possibly doesn't need the box too though I realise that the instructions and ingredients have to be included somewhere. Can't see a small tube lasting long though if it is meant to be used at every nappy change. I still have DD1's originaly tub of Sudocreme on the go and she's nearly 6!

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?

If it came up - and to be honest I don't often have such conversations(!) then I probably would suggest it as an alternative to try and wouldn't be put off by my negative experience.

debka · 01/05/2012 13:32

~ How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not? It was easy to use and rub in. I did find myself wondering whether to use an amount the size of a garden pea or a petit pois then decided I was being a bit of a plank and just used what was needed

~ How often and when did you use the ointment? I used it at every nappy change for a few days

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not? I didn't notice her skin feeling any softer, but no nappy rash appeared, so it must have been effective

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this? I use sudocrem, just at nighttime, because DD tends to poo when she wakes up. The sudocrem seems to work, but DD isn't really prone to nappy rash. TBH I couldn't be faffed with remembering to put the metanium on at every single nappy change, we're often in a different place when I change her, where I don't have the cream with me, so it is easier just to do it at bedtime as I am now

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way? packaging was a bit dull, but hey, nappy cream is dull!

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Matanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not? If a friend was complaining their DC had bad nappy rash then I would suggest it as an every change cream.

ViolaCrayola · 01/05/2012 13:34

~ How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?

It was easy to use in terms of its texture, not quite as sticky as Sudocrem I thought. But not that easy to use in the sense that you are meant to apply it so often - and I found I needed to wash my hands after applying.

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?

I used it about once/twice a day - especially at night as this is the time DS occasionally gets a bit of a sore nappy area.

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?

It is hard to tell, as DS doesn't get nappy rash often unless he's had a tummy upset. I find modern nappies generally mean that a preventative product is not that necessary. I didn't notice either any increase or decrease. Probably works about the same as Sudocrem as a barrier cream.

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?

I used Sudocrem, or sometimes Weleda nappy change cream when I can get hold of it. I prefer Weleda to both of the others in terms of smell, natural nature of ingredients etc. It is also very effective. I think I would be worried about applying the Metanium so often. But it is similar to Sudocrem, not a big difference as far as I could tell

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?

I think it's fine but might run out quicker than a (big) tub?

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?

If they were really struggling with nappy rash and needed a barrier cream, then I might mention it. But personally I would worry about all the chemicals in a cream to be used so regularly, so might suggest Weleda above this.

Mouseface · 01/05/2012 13:53

I love it already! It's so perfect for Nemo due to all of his feeds being liquid. He can get so very sore at times, so far this has prevented ANY soreness or rashes. Smile

~ How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?

  • So easy to use, you only need a tiny amount, it spreads so easily. I didn't 'rub it in', more sort of smoothed it on and dabbed it around any areas that normally flare up.

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?

After each nappy change. Protection is better than cure with Nemo.

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?

I love the way Nemo's skin felt after, not at all greasy, no strong odour, easy to see on the skin too so you know where you've put it.

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?

I've used Sudocrem in the past but getting that off my hands is a nightmare, this was lighter and easily removed, I much prefer the Metanium EveryDay ointment.

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?

This cream, like the Metanium ointment, would be better suited in a plastic tube. My Metanium tubes have all split in the past, depositing ointment around my handbag and on it's contents.

Wearing Matanium as a lip-gloss is not the best look when you're meeting friends for coffee!

It's the ONLY product I can buy over-the-counter that works for Nemo so I stay with it. Change the packing to something more 'flexible' or split proof please.

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?

YES YES YES! I'm going to tell everyone I know that has a baby/toddler/child in nappies, it's just the sort of thing I'm going to need long term so yep, it's a gold star from me. Smile

Needingsomeadvice · 01/05/2012 14:18

Thank you for letting me try your new everyday ointment. I have used it on DD, 28 months.

~ How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?

I thought the ointment had a lovely silky texture and not greasy at all. It rubbed in easily and felt pleasant so I had no qualms putting it on DD.

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?

I used it at night before bed and when we were in the house.

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?

My decision to use it at night was based on the fact that DD has recently started waking me up with a dirty nappy, which she has sometimes done in her sleep. She has been in danger of nappy rash and I was hoping that a barrier cream would prevent this.

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?

I absolutely love Metanium's yellow ointment for nappy rash - it always works on rashes within a short time. Nothing else has worked for my children. However, I am not usually in the habit of applying an everyday cream.

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?

I think I would recognise the logo and I think it's good that it is a white package for a white cream, as opposed to yellow packaging for yellowy cream. I do agree with others though - to reflect its 'everyday' use a larger amount would be better. Although I have no problems with a metal tube for the yellow ointment, I think something easier to use might be good for daily use (little pot of ointment perhaps?).

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?

Yes, but only if they already intended to use a cream with every nappy change. I am not too preoccupied with cream after every nappy change but I would recommend the brand if someone else wanted to.

Needingsomeadvice · 01/05/2012 14:20

Sorry- meant to say that it left skin protected after her morning soiled nappy, and there was no rash whenever it was used, so very happy with how it worked.

BellaBearisWideAwake · 01/05/2012 14:23

~ How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?
Easy to use except when I put too much on (more than advised) and then it was smeary.

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?
I used it at every nappy change for a morning

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?
I don't know if this was a coincidence but my son suddenly got very bad nappy rash so I stopped using it

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?
None

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?
No

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?
I might mention it, but as I said above it coincided with (or caused, I'm not sure which) quite bad nappy rash. I need to try it again now it is cleared up.

CheeseandGherkins · 01/05/2012 14:32

~ How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?

Very easy to use and easy to rub in. I liked the way it wasn't as heavy as some creams such as sudocreme. Really puts me off using them when they're like that. Seems to be absorbed a lot better too.

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?

Most changes for the past few days.

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?

Her skin is very soft anyway! It seemed to be effective, she hasn't had any nappy rash at all.

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?

Sudocreme when needed but I wouldn't use it all the time as it goes too clumpy and gets everywhere. Metanium is much better.

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?

A bit non descript really, could be brighter and more eye catching.

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?

Yes I would.

I really like using this and would definitely buy it again. We use the bottom butter quite a bit too and it goes on really well. We don't usually use a cream after every change, only when she needs it but something like this would be good and I'd be tempted to use all the time as it's much lighter than a lot of creams available.

Gauchita · 01/05/2012 14:48

~ How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?

The ointment was very easy to use and rub on DS's bottom. Re. how much to use, the box said pea-size amount so that's what I did Grin It was enough as well.

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?

With every nappy change, as suggested.

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?

Well, DS coincidentally got a tummy bug this week, which came with full-blown diarrhoea (sorry if TMI). I made sure I changed his nappy straight away and I used the ointment with every nappy change. I'm happily surprised, DS didn't get even a hint of redness, great protection, especially given the circumstances.

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?

Sudocrem. I think Sudocrem is very very good, but it seems "stickier" than Metanium, certainly harder to rub off my hands afterwards. I also liked the fact it's fragrance-free, unlike Sudocrem.

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?

It's a fairly simple package. I'm not sure that's a bad thing. More colour could be added if that's something that would catch buyer's attention more, but I know nothing about these things Grin I second the idea of a plastic tube.

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?

Yes, I would. I liked Metanium as a source of protection for every nappy change. It felt soft to the skin, it's fragrance-free, easy to remove from your hands, altogether I'd say a very good product.

Thank you!

grumpydwarf · 01/05/2012 14:49

I found metanium tube really easy to use and long lasting. I've used it ever nappy change for 4 days and definately found that it is softer for my son. We usually use sudocream but I find the tub hard to manage with a wiggling 11 month old so the tube I just squeezed directly at the area and rubbed in! It held up well overnight and he seems happier using it.
He has had nappy rash before and had a slightly red bum from teething but the metanium definately helped with this and I noticed an improvement in days. I used the metanium nappy rash cream when he has nappy rash and really like both products. The packaging was a bit dull but it does the job!
I would recommend it to my friends.

Faverolles · 01/05/2012 14:50

~ How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?

Very easy to use - although I did find a pea sized amount was too much. After a couple of nappy changes, I used half the amount, which was plenty.

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?

every nappy change since it arrived.

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?
DS does huge wees over night, and quite often wakes up a little red and sore, and the sudocrem seems to have dried out and gone bitty on his skin.
I found with metanium, his bottom wasn't red at all.
He's also teething at the moment, which would usually mean red rashy areas, but he's stayed pink and peachy, so i suppose comparing to his usual teething red bottom, yes, his skin is softer.

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?

We use sudocrem in times of need - not all the time, but when DS shows signs of teething. I found metanium much better than sudocrem. It didn't dry on his skin overnight, but remained as a barrier. I also like the non-fragrance.

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?

I like the packaging, although it's not very eye catching. Metanium rash cream is very easy to spot on a shelf, the everyday cream may be missed.
I like the fact that it is in a tube, but as it is an everyday cream, a larger size would be useful.

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?

If the conversation came up, I would recommend it. I tend to recommend metanium rash cream anyway, and I think the everyday cream is a better rash preventative than the others I have tried. Maybe my childrens bottoms tend to react well to metanium :)

Thankyou for giving me the opportunity to test this :)

blueeyedboymeetsbrowneyedgirl · 01/05/2012 14:54

~ How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?

It was easy to work out how much was needed. The tube is a PITA, the little cap was forever rolling off the unit or DD was grabbing it and trying to eat it. I really hate these tube designs as they always seem to get squished in the changing bag.

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?

Every nappy change every 3/4 hours

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?

There was a definite improvement in DD'S skin, much softer.

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?

Along with many other testers, Sudocrem. The pot is so much easier to use than this tube, although this smells much nicer. Metanium does seem to rub in a bit better and is easy to get off your own hands

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?
A little generic, doesn't stand out. The name is a little maybe medical and difficult to remember, imho. I would prefer something similar to Sudocrem, lke a pot or a pump.

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?

I would certainly recommend this barrier cream, I will be using it again- it's only drawback for me is the tube design.

NoodieRoodie · 01/05/2012 15:09

~ How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?

Found it very easy to use although initially even though I used the recommended pea sized blob it seemed to create far too much of a layer.

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?

After every nappy change (as long as I remembered)

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?

Couldn't really tell, bits of DS that were slightly pink stayed slightly pink until I lashed on the Sudacream.

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?

I normally use Sudocream and I prefer it to Metanium. I'm probably in the minority that prefers the consistancy and it clears any bits of rash up really quickly

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?

I agree with others who commented on the metal tube and screw cap being a bit of a pain. I found it hard to squeeze the right amount whilst holding squirming DS down.

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?

I'd probably offer it as a suggestion if all else had been tried

veeeee · 01/05/2012 15:27

~ How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?

Easy to rub in and apply

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?

Most nappy changes over the weekend

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?

Not noticably

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?
I use Bepanthan only when my baby has nappy rash, I don't use an everyday barrier product.

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?

It's ok, nothing special but it is clear what the product is. I also agree with others that the name is too similar to meconium and too difficult to spell/pronounce.

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Matanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?

Possibly if the parents had a child with persistent nappy rash. Mine only gets it every now and then and so I would not be prepared to pay out for an everyday product.

StrawberryMojito · 01/05/2012 15:42

I found the ointment easy to use. It was a nice texture and easy to rub in. I think I may have used too much though as I did not find that a pea sized amount covered the area I wanted it too.

I used it for every nappy change over a long weekend and my son did not develop nappy rash. We are weaning at the moment and therefore his nappies have been interesting to say the least but his bottom remained smooth. I did not notice that the skin became softer though.

I have both sudocrem and bepanthen at home and use both depending on where I change his nappy. I like all three but I find that I can apply sudocrem more liberally and the packaging is more user friendly. It absorbs more easily than bepanthen and leaves less residue.

I did not like the packaging of metanium for 'at home' use as I found the top fiddly and easy to lose when dealing with a wriggly baby particularly at bathtime. A sudocrem tub is better in this respect. However, I can see that the tube shape of metanium is more useful for slipping into a nappy bag. I think the packaging could be improved by making it hard and rectangular shaped (eg like a tub of Vaseline) so easy to stand on a shelf or put in a nappy bag.

On the whole, I liked the product but I would be concerned that it would not be economical for frequent use. I would recommend it to a friend over bepanthen but suggest they try sudocrem first.

ObviouslyOblivious · 01/05/2012 15:46

~ How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?

I followed the instructions (doesn't everyone Shock!) so used a pea sized amount. This was perfect for the area that needed cream. It rubbed in easily and was a nice dryish texture.

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?

I used it overnight, first thing in the morning and sometimes during the day if DS looked a bit red.

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?

Skin is lovely and soft anyway! The cream was as effective at preventing rash as Sudacream/Bepanthan.

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?

I have used Sudacream (every night), and if DS has a rash I use either Bepanthan or Metanium.

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?

I agree that a flip lid would be good. I don't think this cream would work in a tub as it's too dry.

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?

Yes I would.

ChunkyPickle · 01/05/2012 15:49

~ How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?

Didn't seem to rub in at all - sat on the top like sudocreme. One difficulty was because it was in a tube it was easy to squeeze accidentally (flailing limbs).

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?

Almost every change for the past 4 days (ie. not when someone else changed his nappy which was occasional)

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?

Didn't feel any softer really, didn't seem to do much at all (he didn't get nappy rash, but then he rarely does)

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?

Norwegian formula body moisturiser or E45. I prefer the standard moisturiser to zinc creams I think as they actually do seem to absorb.

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?

Yes. I prefer a pot to a tube so I can put it down and not end up standing on it and squeezing it all out.

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?

as a lighter alternative to sudocreme, yes, but in general, no.

~ How easy or difficult did you find the ointment to use? Was it easy to rub in or not? Was it easy to work out how much you should use or not?

It was easy to apply and rub in, just a pea sized amount of cream goes a long way. Left some residue on baby's skin so perhaps I needed to rub in a bit more.

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?

I made sure DS's nappy rash was gone completely and have been using this for the last 4/5 days to prevent further nappy rash. Sadly it returned anyway!

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?

For us, it didn't work. After a few days of using this, his nappy rash returned and looked quite sore so I have now stopped using this and have returned to using Conotrane (the only thing I have ever found to treat and prevent his nappy rash).

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?

I have used just about everything! Bepanthan, Sudocrem, regular Metanium, Conotrane, Zinc and Castor oil, Kamillosan etc. I found that this was better than Kamillosan which did nothing for us, easier to apply than Bepanthan which is very gloopy. However I would still buy Sudocrem, Bepanthan or Conotrane over this as for us, these have all fared better at keeping the nappy rash at bay.

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?

I don't really like to have excess packaging and feel that the tube would be enough without the unnecessary box, which was shoved in the recycling box the second the package was opened! Colour scheme was nice but I'm not sure it would be the first cream I would pick off the shelf given that others are brighter (Bepanthan) or the bold, recognisable Sudocrem.

~ If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?

I personally couldn't recommend this as for us, it didn't work. However, I do think skincare is incredibly subjective and I know that what works for some babies doesn't work for others - DS has sensitive, dry, eczema prone skin so I would only recommend a product for a baby with similar skin type.

Things I liked about this product included the fact that it was fragrance free, kind to DS's fairly sensitive skin and the fact that a little goes a long way (thus saving money!) It was simple to apply.

Unfortunately the cons outweighed the pros for me - it just didn't work in preventing DS's nappy rash. I am yet to find a cream or combo that truly works in both preventing and treating nappy rash!

I found it very easy to use. Squeezed a bit out and rubbed it in. Came off my hands quite easily too.

~ How often and when did you use the ointment?
During all nappy changes (3/4/5 times a day depending on if DD2 needed it)

~ How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?
Feels just as soft as always

~ Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?
Only used Sudacreme on any rashes or sore bits that appeared. Didnt really use any regularly

~ What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?
I know it has been said, but it was a bit plain and not very eyecatching

I wouldn't go out of my way to mention it, but if it came up Id say that Ive used it and found it to be quite good.

I put too much on at first and then by trial and error realised that you only need a tiny amount! It was easy to rub in.

How often and when did you use the ointment?

Most nappy changes (when I remembered) over the last four days

How effective (or not) do you think the ointment was at preventing nappy rash? Did your DC's skin feel any softer after using the ointment or not?

She was left in a dirty nappy (mistakenly!) for a couple of hours and nappy rash did flare up. I used my usual Bepanthan cream to treat this. It went down quickly and she has had no rash since so maybe Metanium helped to prevent re-occurance (?)

Which, if any, barrier product did you use before? How did Metanium Everyday ointment compare to this?
I use Bepanthan usually as I have found this to be the best to treat rash. I don't use anything if she has no rash. I have to be quick changing 2 year old's nappy (as she hates to keep still for long) so tbh I would not bother to use a cream at every nappy change!

What did you think about the packaging? Do you think it could be improved in any way?
Packaging looked fine - not very exciting. Quite "medical" looking which I imagine people would find reassuring.

If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Metanium Everyday to other parents? If so why, if not why not?
No - I prefer fresh air for everyday and Bepanthan for outbreak of rash. I feel Bepanthen provides a proper barrier - Metanium Everyday seemed too thin and not especially moisturising (if DD's skin seems dry I use Waitrose Bottom Butter which smells lovely as well!

Meant to say - I think that the ultimate best way to prevent nappy rash is to change nappy the second it is dirty!

I've just compared the tube to the 'normal' Metanium. The lid on the normal Metanium is much wider and less of a choke hazard than the lid on the Everyday tube. I don't know why they are different?
