This thread is for the 100 Mumsnetters who are trying out Netflix, the internet subscription service to watch TV shows and films instantly. Below are some questions to get you started but please feel free to leave any other comments you may have too. This thread will be up for the duration of your free month's trial so please do add comments as and when you want to during the trial. All 'official' testers who adds their comments to this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a 40" Samsung LED TV and a PS3 (RRP £1,000).

If you're not an 'official' Mumsnet tester but happen to be trying out Netflix at the moment, please add your feedback too - everyone who does so will be entered into a separate prize draw to win a £100 John Lewis voucher.

Q1 How easy or difficult did you find it to set up Netflix? Can you think of any improvements that could be made to the sign up process?
Q2 What do your child(ren) think of the TV shows and films available in the Just for Kids section? What has been their favourite so far? Is there anything else they'd like to see on Netflix that isn't on there yet?

Hello, well I'll be the first. I'm just signing up and finding it annoying that I have to connect up my Facebook. I don't want my FB people knowing I sit on my bum watching films every evening and I'm going to have to actually work out how to make my Internet TV work. But I will have a go later on and come back and post a full review. :)

Hiya. Just signed up. Seemed quite easy. Wouldn't let me sign up with email so had to do it via Facebook but will go take off the permission setting now so that solves that problem.

Have had a flick through some of the recommended titles and can see some films I wanna watch! May try first one when dS has his afternoon nap!!!!

Re the FB connection, Netflix have asked us to say "Whilst Netflix encourage sharing, users are not obligated to sign up through their Facebook account and can simply sign in using their email address. When going through the sign up process users should ensure they opt out of the Facebook sign up option by logging out of their Facebook account. Those that have signed up through Facebook can unshare what they are watching by following the on screen instructions"

Just plonking myself and my lazy arse on the sofa and will be back with some thoughts once we've had a look around.

Just spent a great hour and a half watching a romcom movie via my iPhone 4 whilst making a batch of rice and courgette cakes for DS for his lunch! Multiple tasking at its best!!!!!

I've just come on to say how irritated I was that you have to sign in via facebook so I'm relieved I can opt out of it.

Also don't like FB sign up.

Right, all signed up, was quick and easy, I found it simpler than lovefilm.
I added my facebook as I didn't see the harm - I have seen a few friends recently have it on their profiles I find it interesting to see what they're watching. Free advertising for Netflix there!
Just going to see how simple it is to add it to the Xbox downstairs & my internet tv upstairs then let ds1 (7) have a flick through.

I already have this but am adding my two pence worth

1. it was very easy to set up because I linked it to my Fb so had hardly any info to put in plus set my payment as via PayPal so didn't need anything there either.

2. my dd is four next week and loves this especially max and ruby. Love tge fact it's separate to tge adults bit.

3. This is where my feedback is not so positive. Apart from dexter, of which there is only the first two series, we really do struggle to find anything we want to bother watching.

4. it's really easy to use. I've got it on my laptop, wii and iPhone and the fact it's all linked means I can start watching something downstairs and when the baby cries I can carry on watching it on my phone from tge same place.

5. I would, and have, recommend it for the children's section, but I would tell people the adults is a bit hit and miss.

It was so easy to set up on tge wii and its amazing to watch on my iPhone. I just really wish there was more choice but I'm hoping that is coming as more people sign up.

I do keep getting on error message also which even my daughters calls it naughty when it comes up - saying the account has been deactivated? If I come out and go back in its fine.

Overall it is good and hopefully going to be getting better.

We're all signed up. No scary trojan warnings or FB issues so far...

Well so far it's good. My wii won't stream anything but DS watched torch wood on the laptop and was so happy as he has been begging for the DVDs. I've found a tv series and am working way through 15 episodes which is good tonight as Wednesday tv is rubbish! Loving the iPhone tonight!!!

I'm all set up although the ipad app won't let me log on.

I can enter my email & password but then nothing, which is a shame because I was going to take myself upstairs whilst DH watches football.

I tried to watch misfits on the laptop but after an initially good start the proggramme paused and took far to long to load so I gave up.

Off to try again!

It was really simple and I like that you can use paypal too.

It looks as though it has a really broad selection of content.

Very easy.

Right now, yes I would.

I only have a work laptop, and cant risk anything on it. I am selected to take part, but might reconsider as I am not sure about the safety issues having seen some of the comments.

Any reassurances?

Also worried about the facebook aspect. I manage a company page, and am worried that any content may find its way to facebook, unintentionally, through own human thoughtlessness. Also worried that Netflix may change settings in the future, and the crossover happen then.

I have a genuine mistrust in companies that want to ride on the facebook wave and use their customers to spread the word to their friends unknowingly.

Combination childrens tv, facebook and work is lethal.

easy but i did not like the facebook connection, so i disconnected mine straight away. i just dont like the idea of everything going onto facebook, as i am not the type to update fb with every little thing! if you could not have the option to disconnect or change the privacy that would have totally stopped me from using it tbh, but as it is - its okay.
have linked it up to my iphone now. initially had a problem that i didnt have a password, cos of disconnecting it from facebook but got that sorted out now.
not yet linked it to the xbox or ps3 ill leave that for dh to do!

i've not shown dses yet so will update this more later but i had a look and pleased to see plenty of thomas episodes on it as that is what they loved but i was hoping they would have some of the classic disney movies on it like lion king, junglebook etc but there is nothing like that. alot of the things on there are characters they dont know and seem a bit old but will be worth a try to watch and see if theres any they like. im look for the younger age range stuff as my oldest is 3

seems quite a bit of stuff on there that me and dh would watch, i saw some tv series people have mentioned to me such as damages, which i was meaning to try, and seen a couple of films that look worth a watch. also some old films i remember liking before, which may be nice to see again - if i get the time

not mad on the navigation, i wish they would just have an option to look at all the films available in each category in a simple list, not scrolling through like that

Anyone else having issues logging in to Netflix on the iPhone? Suspect it is the same issue that Bohica had with the iPad.

i had to close the app on my phone then open it again, now its working.. before that it was just loading loading.. doing nothgin

Well I can't get it to work on my tv yet everything else does so this is getting annoying.

Please guys, is there any Star Trek there?

We have an Ilove film subscription, and have had absolutely no problems synchronizing tv, wii, laptop, iphone, fridge and ipad. But we have to rent the star trek episodes. One by one. I want to have a star trek marathon.

Found it very easy to sign up but only because I did it via Facebook, which I didn't really want to. I still can't find out how to stop it sharing what I am watching.

My children DD(3) and DS(5) both love it and are constantly asking for Netflix! A life saver this morning when DD wondering in at 5.50am. Stuck her next to me with the iPad and Max & Ruby. Managed another half hour in peace. We already have recordings of some of the programmes on TiVo but it was worth the convinence of flicking on the iPad and pressing play. We don't have a tv set up in the bedroom. My DS has some emotional needs and often has to take time out to be alone. He likes the fact he can go off with the iPad and have some space for a while. We have iPlayer etc on the iPad but it's it as easy for him to navigate. The fact that it is easy for him to navigate is also a slight issue. I would like to be able to put a pass code lock onto the app, that way the children can't just start watching Netflix without my knowledge. I would also like to have a quick easy way to adjusting the ratings of programmes that are on show. I'd been watching Secret Diary of a Call Girl and am aware that it's very easy for the DCs to access it. Not appropriate.

I really like it. Plenty there for us to watch. We are always behind with the popular TV series! I would like a way to add a 'wishlist' of the things I wish to watch. Scrolling through I've seen lots of things I plan on watching but can never remember what they are. DH enjoys it as he's been able to watch some of the series I've not been bothered about. It's been a blessing to have on the xBox. We have my teenage brother staying with us at the moment, he is sleeping it the living room. He thinks I'm cool cause we have Netflix and it gives him something to do when we all go off to bed. He's 17 so I figure I can trust him with the content on there.

Q4 How easy or difficult did you find it to navigate around and find the shows/films you or your DC wanted to watch?
Navigation is easy but I don't particularly like it. Better on the laptop than on the iPad/iPhone/Xbox. I'd like an easy way to scroll through everything that's available for each category. I do like the way you are given recommendations based on what you have been watching.

Yes I have recommended Netflix. Even my technophobe mother has signed up for a trial! Simple and easy to use. Pick up and play. My months trial has actually just come to an end but I have carried on with the subscription and paid for my first month. For us it's £5.99 well spent.mee can't really afford nights out so it's nice to know theres something we can get together and watch on a Saturday night. I found it better than love film, cancelled my trial for that after about two days. I look forward to exploring Netflix even more.

Oh and I'm sure my neighbours think I'm having crazy, wild sex. Watching Secret Diary of a Call Girl, late at night with paper thin walls
