All 'official' testers who adds their comments to this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a 40" Samsung LED TV and a PS3 (RRP £1,000).

Questions:
Q1 How easy or difficult did you find it to set up Netflix? Can you think of any improvements that could be made to the sign up process?
Q2 What do your child(ren) think of the TV shows and films available in the Just for Kids section? What has been their favourite so far? Is there anything else they'd like to see on Netflix that isn't on there yet?
Q3 Now thinking about you and/or your DH/DP - what do you think of the content on Netflix, both in terms of the TV shows and films available? Is there anything else you'd like to see on there in future?
Q4 How easy or difficult did you find it to navigate around and find the shows/films you or your DC wanted to watch?
Q5 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Netflix to your friends? If so, why? If not, why not?

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw

I suspect this might become a problem for Netflix et al. I am on Virgin 50MB which is suposedly completely unlimited and unthrottled - a friend with the same who is a power user and streams both Netflix and Lovefilm recently got the dreaded letter as well.

Q1 How easy or difficult did you find it to set up Netflix? Can you think of any improvements that could be made to the sign up process?

Signing up was fine, although (like others) I didn't like being pushed into doing so via FB, and felt the email option could have been clearer. I did have some trouble downloading the software the first time, and had to go to downloads.com to get it....A download link on the homepage would have been helpful.

Q2 What do your child(ren) think of the TV shows and films available in the Just for Kids section? What has been their favourite so far? Is there anything else they'd like to see on Netflix that isn't on there yet?

They love it! They are 6, 4 and nearly 2, so the selection of programmes on there is fantastic....they loved having access to lots of Paddington, Dora and so on, and loved the choice of films as well.

Q3 Now thinking about you and/or your DH/DP - what do you think of the content on Netflix, both in terms of the TV shows and films available? Is there anything else you'd like to see on there in future?

We haven't used it much yet, as we don't watch tv often during the week (too much work....) but I have enjoyed being able to dip in and out of Red Dwarf etc, and have spotted a whole load of films I'd like to watch in future. In general, we'd probably like more recent releases to be available, but there's enough content we haven't seen to keep us busy for quite a while!

Q4 How easy or difficult did you find it to navigate around and find the shows/films you or your DC wanted to watch?

Very, although I found that things disappeared once we'd started watching them, and it wasn't sometimes hard to find them again. Is there an 'items you're in the middle of viewing' tab somewhere that I have missed?

Q5 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Netflix to your friends? If so, why? If not, why not?

I have been recommending it to everyone we know already! In particular, I love that it is unlimited, and can be used on multiple devices within one household at the same time. This has meant that our dcs could watch Paddington in one room, our aupair could watch content on her laptop in her bedroom and my dh and I could (in theory...hah!) be watching something else at the same time.....obviously it doesn't work that way in practise (I end up watching Paddington....) but it feels very flexible and user-friendly.
Thanks for letting us take part in the trial :)

Not very positive I'm afraid !

  • Did not find it easy to set up , as I did not want to go via Facebook- Netflix made it difficult to do it via email.
  • It is not easy to navigate.
  • It has poor choice in my opinion - could not find ' new ' films.
  • I would not recommend it.
  • I have given up using it and have signed to a different provider.
Honeydragon · 27/03/2012 21:50

Right subscription cancelled without watching a single thing. 3 virus alerty malware things logging into it.

Denies the very existence of my tv.

No online help what so ever

Nothing to inspire me watching the laptop.

Gah

and

Meh.

StickingLaboutin · 27/03/2012 22:00

I'm currently working through Dexter. Great stuff.

I would like to be able to sort better and remove films I have seen. I hate the scrolling through 70 items to get something I am interested in. It would be good to see a synopsis alongside a DVD picture.

We haven't suffered with a usage problem but we use O2 and generally find them to be excellent.

Bohica · 27/03/2012 22:08

We are really enjoying NetFlix, I have taken to watching cold feet on the ipad whilst pretending to cleaning the kitchen, it does stop and start quite a bit but I am assuming that is my broadband.

I'm going to try and stream through the wii over easter but I have an LG tv, will I be wasting my time?

cazza40 · 27/03/2012 22:27

Sorry just don't like it and will be cancelling my subscription. Films and programmes old and I cannot find anything to watch !

Coca · 28/03/2012 09:18

Q1 How easy or difficult did you find it to set up Netflix? Can you think of any improvements that could be made to the sign up process?
It was easy but I don't like the Facebook element. I don't want people to know what I watch and I certainly couldn't care less what other people are watching.

Q2 What do your child(ren) think of the TV shows and films available in the Just for Kids section? What has been their favourite so far? Is there anything else they'd like to see on Netflix that isn't on there yet?
They would like more choice, they can already acces some of the shows for free on other websites Nickelodian (sp?) for example.

Q3 Now thinking about you and/or your DH/DP - what do you think of the content on Netflix, both in terms of the TV shows and films available? Is there anything else you'd like to see on there in future?
More up to date seasons would be good.

Q4 How easy or difficult did you find it to navigate around and find the shows/films you or your DC wanted to watch?
It is very easy to use

Q5 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Netflix to your friends? If so, why? If not, why not?
I probably would yes

Honeydragon · 28/03/2012 09:49

Bohica you should be fine through the Wii, my LG tv is Internet / streaming compatible directly, except for Netflix Hmm

Honeydragon · 28/03/2012 09:50

Ooooh Bohica your iPad is alive again Smile how did you get it resolved in the end, was it fixable?

NoSleepTonight · 28/03/2012 10:32

Ds1 is at school, ds2 is at playschool, ds3 is asleep on me so it must be time for my daily Dexter fix. - The washing will hang itself out right?

Ds2 would like to see Mickey Mouse on there, but I see there's nothing Disney, so Disney obviously aren't allowing it.
But other than that my boys seem to have found lots of things they like, even ds2 can control it on the Xbox and find what he wants.

My friend and her dds came to play yesterday and they were also impressed with the amount of Dora on there, they've gone home and signed up, she didn't tell me herself, but her facebook did!! Grin

aristocat · 28/03/2012 13:39

My DS is ill at the moment so we have been having sofa and NetFlix for two days now.
We have already seen The Pacifier, Alpha & Omega, Open Season 3 and Sky High Grin

I agree that there is not much in the way of new programmes but the choice is huge and there is always something to watch.

Thank you, we love it!

Blatherskite · 28/03/2012 20:34

Q1 How easy or difficult did you find it to set up Netflix? Can you think of any improvements that could be made to the sign up process?

Very easy to sign up. After signup, I recall two badly worded questions though when setting up my profile but I can't remember exactly what they were right now [helpful]

Q2 What do your child(ren) think of the TV shows and films available in the Just for Kids section? What has been their favourite so far? Is there anything else they'd like to see on Netflix that isn't on there yet?

So far, the children have chosen to watch Thomas the Tank engine and Sonic the Hedgehog. Both were very much enjoyed. I think, because they're only 2 and 5, the choice was rather overwhelming at first but we easily found something to watch and they enjoyed the shows we tried. It would be handy if Netflix had my children's current favourite shows from Sky which are Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Tom & Jerry as I think they'd start asking for those eventually but hopefully we could find something else to distract them from the choice offered.

Q3 Now thinking about you and/or your DH/DP - what do you think of the content on Netflix, both in terms of the TV shows and films available? Is there anything else you'd like to see on there in future?

There seems to be a wide choice for adults too but non seems to be too recent. It's OK for us as after having our social life somewhat stunted for the past 5 years by small children, there's been a lot of films that have come out which we'd like to have seen but have missed but I can see it being less attractive to someone who's been able to visit the cinema whenever they like. Conversely, we've seen pretty much all of the TV shows we've wanted over the years so unless we missed that something was on completely, or a series clashed with another we were watching, there's not much TV-wise I'm interested in seeing. I do like the documentaries though.

It would be nice to see some more up to date films in the future

Q4 How easy or difficult did you find it to navigate around and find the shows/films you or your DC wanted to watch?

I found it very easy to navigate round and find the shows we wanted. Even the children could do it.

Q5 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Netflix to your friends? If so, why? If not, why not?

I think I probably would recommend Netflix but only if someone was asking about this type of service. Most people I know have Sky though and a huge range of programs to chose from as it is, I'm not sure they'd be interested in getting any more.

Bohica · 28/03/2012 21:24

Hi Honeydragin It wasn't fixable I'm afraid Sad £200 for a replacement in the apple store but I didn't loose my pictures and DD3 learnt a very big lesson Smile

Bohica · 28/03/2012 21:26

HoneyDragon

And unfortunatly my spelling is just as crap as before on the new one!

Sorry netfix testers, carry on as you were Grin

Honeydragon · 28/03/2012 21:33

Bohica well £200 is better than £400 and most importantly you kept your pictures. I am pleased Smile

NannyPlumIsMyMum · 28/03/2012 22:57

I'm glad I'm not the only one Cazza !

NannyPlumIsMyMum · 28/03/2012 22:58

Have now cancelled my subscription .

Bohica · 28/03/2012 22:59

I took it into the garden the other night to take a picture of the moon and venus and I carried it with as much care as I have our newborn babies!!

Expensive mistake that we have all learnt from!

Sleepwhenidie · 28/03/2012 23:06

I signed up to netflix having read positive reviews on this thread but i cannot get it to work on my new samsung Internet enabled tv (LF, 4OD etc all work fine). I discovered today by googling that this is an ongoing problem so will be cancelling until it is resolved Sad

Honeydragon · 28/03/2012 23:33

It's a bloody crap problem
It really should be equips to work on a actual tv if iplayer and love film erc can Hmm

Sarayu · 29/03/2012 10:33

I'm still loving it. I don't think I'd be allowed to post a link here but.... I've figured out how to get the US version of Netflix. LOADS of content!

OvO · 29/03/2012 18:50
