Below are some questions to get you started but please feel free to leave any other comments you may have too. This thread will be up for the duration of your free month's trial so please do add comments as and when you want to during the trial. All 'official' testers who adds their comments to this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a 40" Samsung LED TV and a PS3 (RRP £1,000).

Questions:
Q1 How easy or difficult did you find it to set up Netflix? Can you think of any improvements that could be made to the sign up process?
Q2 What do your child(ren) think of the TV shows and films available in the Just for Kids section? What has been their favourite so far? Is there anything else they'd like to see on Netflix that isn't on there yet?
Q3 Now thinking about you and/or your DH/DP - what do you think of the content on Netflix, both in terms of the TV shows and films available? Is there anything else you'd like to see on there in future?
Q4 How easy or difficult did you find it to navigate around and find the shows/films you or your DC wanted to watch?
Q5 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Netflix to your friends? If so, why? If not, why not?

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw

I have no idea why the laptop can play other streaming services fine but not Netflix. Its a Dell Inspiron 15 if that helps, Windows Vista, bought nearly 2 yrs ago brand new.

Chopstheduck · 16/03/2012 16:08

I'm not an 'official' tester but happened to sign up to this a couple of days ago

Q1 How easy or difficult did you find it to set up Netflix? Can you think of any improvements that could be made to the sign up process?

Very easy. I would have liked the option on whether or not to share on facebook to have been offered at the beginning though, rather than having to search for how to switch it off. Actually what I would like is an option to choose to share on facebook, rather than that being the default.

Q2 What do your child(ren) think of the TV shows and films available in the Just for Kids section? What has been their favourite so far? Is there anything else they'd like to see on Netflix that isn't on there yet?

The kids think it is brilliant. they especially like Spongebob. They also liked the Mario show. They would like there to be Simpsons on there, and I would love to see a genre for more educational stuff to watch wiht the kids.

Q3 Now thinking about you and/or your DH/DP - what do you think of the content on Netflix, both in terms of the TV shows and films available? Is there anything else you'd like to see on there in future?
We think they us a great selection and def enough to keep us going for a long time! I would like to see more subtitles available though.

We think it is great, and a bargain for the price. Unlike some online streaming I've had no buffering or freezing of the picture which is ace. I am definetly intending to keep it going.

Q4 How easy or difficult did you find it to navigate around and find the shows/films you or your DC wanted to watch?

found iot very easy. The suggestions are a bit off, but hopefully they will improve as we use it more

Q5 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Netflix to your friends? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes def, I think it is good value for money. DD is already recommending it to her friends.

tigercametotea · 17/03/2012 11:52

Tried to watch Netflix again last night on the laptop. Same problems with video quality. I tried unchecking the HD option, still no improvement in video quality. DH gave up and went back to watching BBC Iplayer, which was fine. Hope Netflix sorts this out or I am definitely unsubscribing before the end of the trial.

Codandchops · 17/03/2012 11:54

I am SO grateful for the recent addition of Red Dwarf. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Chopstheduck · 17/03/2012 12:12

I've been watching red dwarf, love it Grin

So my feedback...... It's great.
Managed to figure out how to download Netflix to the wii. All easy once I knew how.
DS loves torch wood and is able to navigate the site easily and has said he wants to watch a few things.
I'm excited to watch a few of the tv series I've missed and love the fact I can do this via iPhone.
I can see me using this over Easter break for sure.

Q1 How easy or difficult did you find it to set up Netflix? Can you think of any improvements that could be made to the sign up process?

Very easy, seems complicated at first on the PS3 but then we found we already had a netflix icon and it was simple!

Q2 What do your child(ren) think of the TV shows and films available in the Just for Kids section? What has been their favourite so far? Is there anything else they'd like to see on Netflix that isn't on there yet?

My children are all a bit older (youngest is 10) and prefer the film choices rather than the Kids section. DS hasn't used it yet but I might suggest he tries it this weekend rather than constant CBBC. DD has been watching films on it too.

Q3 Now thinking about you and/or your DH/DP - what do you think of the content on Netflix, both in terms of the TV shows and films available? Is there anything else you'd like to see on there in future?

I have watched 2 films so far. I watched them on my iMac and they are VERY pixellated at times which is annoying and slightly disappointing. I Googled this problem but there doesn't seem a way round this. It's just how it is. Frustrating as i have a large screen which would be perfect for films.

The content has been good for both of us. We were both watching a different film at the same time. I like that lots of people can log onto the same account at the same time.
DH was impressed and said the picture on the PS3 was really good quality.

Q4 How easy or difficult did you find it to navigate around and find the shows/films you or your DC wanted to watch?

That seems ok although I haven't searched for much yet. I've found something to watch quite quickly

Q5 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Netflix to your friends? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would but I think they do need to have more recent film releases in the choice too, I don't know how often the content is added too, I might run out of films to watch quite quickly!

FruitShootsAndHeaves · 17/03/2012 15:28

Ok so I went off to 'test' the Kid's section on DS2 and he mumbled about them all looking good but he had already spotted Pirates of the Caribbean..
So he is now in the playroom thankfully no longer watching CBBC happily watching POTC!

Bonkerz · 17/03/2012 15:34

  1. It was easy, minor difficulty with setting up the wii but think that is down to connection timing out, then installed eventually, on the laptop it is fast.
  2. I was so impressed as were the kids with their section of netflix, it really is great, so much for them to pick from. I am seriously considering getting rid of Sky when it comes up for renewal as we only get it for the kids anyway. There were over 70 episodes of Dora youngest was in awe!
  3. We mainly stayed in the kids section, but the adults section had a good variety, plenty to choose from, great selection. I really wonder why we pick another provider when its a bargain price and great selection. Not laggy at all over a laptop. Wii occasionally lost connection then works again.
  4. Easy to navigate around. List of characters at top help children pick easily.
  5. Definately would recommend, good price, perfect for kids, great selection. Wish our sky renewal was sooner! So we could swap to this!!!

Questions:
Q1 How easy or difficult did you find it to set up Netflix? Can you think of any improvements that could be made to the sign up process?

Was easy enough, but it used my DH work Facebook account as this las the last logged into on the ipad. So had to cancelled it and start again. That wasn't very helpful!

Q2 What do your child(ren) think of the TV shows and films available in the Just for Kids section? What has been their favourite so far? Is there anything else they'd like to see on Netflix that isn't on there yet?

They like as getting to watch things they've never seen before (as I only let them watch Cbeebies!). They are enjoying Dora, Rugrats and Thomas the Tank Engine. Some Peppa Pig would be good.

Q3 Now thinking about you and/or your DH/DP - what do you think of the content on Netflix, both in terms of the TV shows and films available? Is there anything else you'd like to see on there in future?

I've been disappointed by the lack of movies for me. There isn't much recent movies, and I find it hard to choose from the selection, as you can't search by recent releases. Almost everything I'd want to watch, I've already seen and find the ratings and suggestions aren't very effective.

Q4 How easy or difficult did you find it to navigate around and find the shows/films you or your DC wanted to watch?

Not easy, its better if you know what you are looking for, but harder if you are looking for something different. I'd like more of a film summary to be avialable, as anything I click on something to find out more, it starts to play immediatly.

Q5 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Netflix to your friends? If so, why? If not, why not?

Not for an adult, as the movies choice is poor. Still unsure about recommending it for children, as DC have likely watching something new, but they also loose interest rapidly.

mumatron · 19/03/2012 17:00

I completely forgot I'm supposed to be doing this test Blush

will sign up on wed and post feedback asap.

CheeryCherry · 19/03/2012 17:04

Q1...found it really easy to set up, didn't want to go via FB so chose to use email, it was quick and straightforward.
Q2...the DCs spent a long time reminiscing their favourite tv shows from when they were little, and I suspect they will be furtively viewing Strawberry Shortcake and suchlike soon! They have already watched a film and have made a list of what to see next. They searched for Harry Potter and the Twilights, so would like those listed. I think they like the fact that they can watch a film in their roomthe laptop...its like having a tv in their room!
Q3...the content seems ok, I love the idea of watching reruns of Cold Feet, Queer as Folk etc. The films are a bit dated, I think the old comedies/tv dramas suit us better. Would like more British tv series, like Vicar of Dibley, Open all Hours, One foot in the Grave etc.
Q4...yes it is very easy to find what we want.
Q5...I would recommend it to others, especially those who are retired (and will get value for money), it would be handy during the holidays. But many friend are like us, they barely have time to watch terrestrial tv let alone extras! Plus there would need to be constant additions to the listings, to maintain interest. Do like the immediacy though, that's really handy.

Honeydragon · 19/03/2012 17:51

Q1 How easy or difficult did you find it to set up Netflix? Can you think of any improvements that could be made to the sign up process?
erm...can't set it up. My tv (LG) manual instructions were followed no code involved anywhere. No info on netflix. Gave up. Have managed to install iPlayer and Anytime no problem though.

Q2 What do your child(ren) think of the TV shows and films available in the Just for Kids section? What has been their favourite so far? Is there anything else they'd like to see on Netflix that isn't on there yet?

Well they were quite excited about some of the movies but as I couldn't install it they are unable to comment. Hmm

Q3 Now thinking about you and/or your DH/DP - what do you think of the content on Netflix, both in terms of the TV shows and films available? Is there anything else you'd like to see on there in future?
erm.....see above .

Q4 How easy or difficult did you find it to navigate around and find the shows/films you or your DC wanted to watch?

It appears very straightforward on the laptop

Q5 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Netflix to your friends? If so, why? If not, why not?

purely frustration.

I'd consider subscribing for a holiday as it saves taking dvds for the dcs to play on the laptop and we have to travel places with wifi for work.

Saying that, I will be cancelling the subscription and would be wary of signing up again after the malwyre warning....not good!

Lovetats · 19/03/2012 17:51

I've had Netflix for about six weeks now and absolutely love it. We watch it on 2 iPads, two iPhones and via the Wii - not all at the same time!

I think it's fantastic for tv programmes - I prefer Lovefilm for movies.

Trills · 19/03/2012 18:04

Q1 How easy or difficult did you find it to set up Netflix? Can you think of any improvements that could be made to the sign up process?

Easy peasy because I signed up using my Facebook

Q2 What do your child(ren) think of the TV shows and films available in the Just for Kids section? What has been their favourite so far? Is there anything else they'd like to see on Netflix that isn't on there yet?

N/A

Q3 Now thinking about you and/or your DH/DP - what do you think of the content on Netflix, both in terms of the TV shows and films available? Is there anything else you'd like to see on there in future?

Films are a bit old, TV series are very good. I wish they had all the seasons of Cold Feet, not just the last 3. Start from the beginning would be a good plan for TV shows in general

Q4 How easy or difficult did you find it to navigate around and find the shows/films you or your DC wanted to watch?

It's OK but could be better. I'd like to be able to see more shows on a page and not have to do the weirdy sideways scrolly thing.

Q5 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Netflix to your friends? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, I have and will do so again

JustMary · 19/03/2012 18:37

Q1 Very easy to register. I haven't tried setting it up on the computer yet so can't comment on that. I did set it up on the wii. It was easy enough, but I did have to google for help. It would be good to have details or tips on Netflix.

Q2 Lots to choose from, but a bit outdated. We haven't watched much from the just for kids, but Barney was a hit..unfortunately.

Q3 Selection is good, especially as I haven't been to see a film in years. It would be nice to have more current films though. I don't think I've seen a film on there that was made in the last 3-5 years. Like the idea of tv shows and I think my husband will make use of that.

Q4 Navigation is easy, but it would be nice to have a way to mark films as favorites or to be watched.

Q5 I don't know if I would recommend it. I think its good for watching old movies, but unless Netflix starts making current films available its not worth using long term.

Lilyloo · 19/03/2012 18:37

Have just signed up. Found this very easy, just cancelled the fb option and set payment up via PayPal.
Now to watch something, will wait until dcs are in bed then see how that goes, the selection of tv programmed looks good up to now.
