Right, we've just polished the last one off Blush . General thoughts were:
-they smelt of quavers Hmm not sure if this is a good or bad thing though Wink
-dh and i found them too sweet - like a bit too much sugar had been used
-the flavours were subtle but tasty
-we prob wouldn't buy again as too sweet
-I would describe them as crispy savoury bites
-like the fact they are wholegrain
-fave flavour was the sour cream one
-potential different flavour - maybe something bacony like (sundried) tomato and bacon
Will add more if I think of anything Grin

Q1 What was your overall impression of the product? Did you enjoy eating them or not? If so, why? If not, why not? Loved the packaging - very attractive. Liked the crispiness/shape and size of individual snacks but would like more flavour and a bigger packet!

Q2 How would you describe Sunbites to a friend who didn't know what they were? Healthier, very crispy wholegrain light snack.

Q3 Which flavour did you like the most? Are there any other flavours you'd like to see in the range? I liked the sweet chilli and my daughter liked the onion and rosemary best. I would like to see a prawn or crab flavour and my daughter thought something 'meaty' would be good.

Q4 Thinking about Sunbites in comparison to other snacks, can you think of one feature which makes Sunbites different? If so, what is it? More attractive packaging than competitors.

Q5 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Sunbites to your friends? If so, why? If not, why not? Probably not as they were generally too mild in flavour and packets were quite small.

Instinctivemum · 12/09/2011 16:16

Mine never came :(( thanks for the reminder to review MN, but I have nothing to say since I didn't get to taste them SadSadSadSadSad

louella01 · 12/09/2011 16:24

I really enjoyed the texture - my favourite flavour were the rosemary ones and also the sweet chilli (my 4 year old loved those too!) although I thought they could have been a little spicier! My least fav were the salt ones as I found them bland but ok for dipping into hummus.
I actually thought there could have been less in the packet to try and make them around 100 calories. I also really liked the packaging! I would definitely buy these and would recommend them to people- in fact I have already!

PandaG · 12/09/2011 16:25

Q1 What was your overall impression of the product? Did you enjoy eating them or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
yes, the whole family enjoyed eating them. liked the crunchiness, they are crisp and crack as you eat them

Q2 How would you describe Sunbites to a friend who didn't know what they were?

wholegrain lower fat snack, tasty.

Q3 Which flavour did you like the most? Are there any other flavours you'd like to see in the range?

really liked the chilli, liked all the flavours tbh, but thought the roast onion could have been stronger. I personally would like a strong salt and vinegar

Q4 Thinking about Sunbites in comparison to other snacks, can you think of one feature which makes Sunbites different? If so, what is it?

the wholegrain, and the shape

Q5 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Sunbites to your friends? If so, why? If not, why not?

yes, definitely. we liked them and would buy again, would like a family sized bag for sharing, perhaps with a dip.

Got them eventually! well that one testing I did not have to talk the children into for longGrin

Q1 What was your overall impression of the product? Did you enjoy eating them or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
I thought the packaging lookd very fresh and appealing. THe children and I shared the packets so we could all try all the flavours. It was a big success all round. In fact I was the only one who did not like one of the flavours(sour cream), everyone else enjoyed all the flavours.

Q2 How would you describe Sunbites to a friend who didn't know what they were?

I would simply say it is a savoury cereal based snack and a healthier alternative to crisps.

Q3 Which flavour did you like the most? Are there any other flavours you'd like to see in the range?
The children liked all the flavours in no definite order. I likes best the onion and rosmary one, then the sweet chili, the ready salted, cheddar and onion I just did not enjoy the sour cream ones at all ( I sort of knew I would not even before trying them).

Q4 Thinking about Sunbites in comparison to other snacks, can you think of one feature which makes Sunbites different? If so, what is it?
To me the mean feature would be the healtier side to a snack in comparison to crisps .

Q5 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Sunbites to your friends? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes I would recommend them, (still have to check price though as I have not yet any idea on how much more expensive or cheaper to other snack sunbites are). I think they were tasy, super crunchy, light but still filling enough.

Moodykat · 12/09/2011 17:09

Q1 What was your overall impression of the product? Did you enjoy eating them or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

I thought they were delicious!

Q2 How would you describe Sunbites to a friend who didn't know what they were?

"like crisps, but healthier!"

Q3 Which flavour did you like the most? Are there any other flavours you'd like to see in the range?

I loved the onion and rosemary and agree with other posters that salt and vinegar would be nice.

Q4 Thinking about Sunbites in comparison to other snacks, can you think of one feature which makes Sunbites different? If so, what is it?

The taste. Sunbites just taste a bit healthier!

Q5 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Sunbites to your friends? If so, why? If not, why not?

Already have to MIL as she likes this kind of thing and is nearly as much of a crisp addict as me!

OyOfMidWorld · 12/09/2011 17:18

Q1 What was your overall impression of the product? Did you enjoy eating them or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
I did quite enjoy them but I'm not sure if they are enough to take me away from crisps permanently!

Q2 How would you describe Sunbites to a friend who didn't know what they were?
Crunchy, interesting flavours. Much healthier than crisps.

Q3 Which flavour did you like the most? Are there any other flavours you'd like to see in the range?
I liked the cheddar cheese and the cracked black pepper. I'd like to see a few stronger flavours as I thought some of them were a little bland.

Q4 Thinking about Sunbites in comparison to other snacks, can you think of one feature which makes Sunbites different? If so, what is it?
They are very thin and light, quite insubstantial really.

Q5 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Sunbites to your friends? If so, why? If not, why not?
Maybe, if someone was looking for a healthier alternative to crisps.

ZuberMum · 12/09/2011 17:26

Overall impression? Yummy. Like the crinkled-wavy-ness and the guiltish-free snack concept. But I can't help comparing them to a similar product in Oz and Sunbites are just a bit thin and not as satisfying in comparison.

Description? Crispy, wavy wholegrain crisp-things by Walkers. In adult flavours so they're safe from DCs.

Flavours? I like the rosemary one, but put off by 'onion' in the name as have a personal phobia of Cheese & Onion crisps ever since my Mum refused to kiss me after I'd eaten a pack as a child. Scarred for life, me. The chilli one is nice, but a little too much chilli-afterburn for my liking. But then again that stops me from eating another packet. And it stops DS from taking over the packet.

How different? no grease!

Recommendation....? If it came up in conversation "Come across any healthy and tasty snacks you'd recommend recently?" then yes, I'd highly recommend Sunbites. And I'd probably have them out with drinks if they came in BIG packets.

MissTinaTeaspoon · 12/09/2011 17:27

We've just finished our last packet, so here goes :)

We liked that they aren't greasy, but they are a little bit too salty - some flavours more than others but particularly the cheddar and onion flavour, the rosemary and onion flavour less so. We liked the packaging, it seems more 'grown up' than normal crisps.

Cheddar and onion had a nice cheesey flavour but as I said earlier they are maybe a little bit too salty. We liked that the onion didn't completely takeover the cheese. These were dd's favourite but she's a sucker for anything cheesey so may be biased!

The sweet chilli ones didn't really have enough of a chilli 'kick', they were a bit lacking in flavour to be honest.

The addition of whey powder to the salted flavour meant that they tasted a little bit too sweet.

We couldn't taste as much pepper as I would expect in the sour cream and pepper flavour. Dh didn't like the way that they smelled.

I was expecting to like the onion and rosemary ones the least but they really surprised me - they were my favourite, they tasted a lot like stuffing.

We thought that maybe a paprika flavour would be nice, or BBQ. I'm not sure that they would work with anything meaty like bacon or chicken though.

Overall we liked the product, and we would love to take part in any future tastings, all in the name of research you understand...Wink

gemma4d · 12/09/2011 17:36

Q1 Different views of different flavours; some were very nice (cheddar), some a bit yucky (salted)

Q2 Crisps made from wholegrain wheat etc instead of potatoes

Q3 Cheddar was the best

Q4 Crisps made without potato!

Q5 Yes, but not all the flavours. But most of my friends are gluten-intolerant so I wouldn't really be doing them any favours recommending them!

These contained sugar and I'm not convinced that they needed it - or as much - especially the salted which had a slightly odd sweet-salty taste.

curlywurl · 12/09/2011 17:45

we really liked these thanks. Liked the fwct that they didn't have too much salt or crap in them and that they had a good level of fiber but he flavours were still really nice. The only healthier crisp I can think of is the organix ones and they do taste quite healthy where as these did not they were nice!
Don't buy many crisps but would probably buy these when I next want some

Tulipchoc · 12/09/2011 17:56

Q1 What was your overall impression of the product? Did you enjoy eating them or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
I loved two flavours and the texture/crispiness is great. I enjoyed eating them. I didn't enjoy the others as I really disliked the flavours.

Q2 How would you describe Sunbites to a friend who didn't know what they were? For the flavours I liked - delicious, crunchy and almost good for you!

Q3 Which flavour did you like the most? Are there any other flavours you'd like to see in the range? The sweet chilli ones were delicious. A close runner up was the salted ones.

Q4 Thinking about Sunbites in comparison to other snacks, can you think of one feature which makes Sunbites different? If so, what is it? The texture and flabour.

Q5 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Sunbites to your friends? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes but only the flavours I liked. I think the others are too unusual/strong.

smithylovesme · 12/09/2011 18:01

Q1, The whole family loved the Sunbites, good flavour and good texture.

Q2 Delicious wholemeal crisps.

Q3 Sour cream and black pepper. Would like to see jalepeno flavour.

Q4 They aren't greasy at all

Q5 Would definately recommend them as they taste good and good light snack for all the family.

Didn't enjoy the sweet chilli flavour but all the rest were good.

MustControlFistOfDeath · 12/09/2011 18:06

Q1 What was your overall impression of the product? Did you enjoy eating them or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Very much enjoyed them, nice crunchiness and subtle flavours. Not many in the packet though, easily demolished by me in seconds

Q2 How would you describe Sunbites to a friend who didn't know what they were?
An unravelled wheat crunchy. Or a flattened frazzle. Without the bacon flavour though. Or the potato content. Oh just flippin try one will you!

Q3 Which flavour did you like the most? Are there any other flavours you'd like to see in the range?
Liked all of them, would probably pick the onion and rosemary as my favourite. Be nice to see some meaty flavours.

Q4 Thinking about Sunbites in comparison to other snacks, can you think of one feature which makes Sunbites different? If so, what is it?
The crunchiness.

Q5 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Sunbites to your friends? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would recommend as they do taste nice.

EsmeWeatherwax · 12/09/2011 19:07

Q1 What was your overall impression of the product? Did you enjoy eating them or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
On the positive side. I loved the crunchiness and non-greainess of the crisps, I also loved the wholegrain aftertaste, kind of nutty, very nice. On the negative side, the flavours themselves deviated between bland and downright awful, the sour cream one in particular tasted like very off milk. It's taken me two weeks to finish them, and that is unheard of for me with crisps!

Q2 How would you describe Sunbites to a friend who didn't know what they were?
Really crunchy, good if you're on a diet, or slightly healthing up your snacks, but not great flavours.

Q3 Which flavour did you like the most? Are there any other flavours you'd like to see in the range?
The onion and rosemary flavour was the nicest, more work on developing the existing flavours before adding new ones!

Q4 Thinking about Sunbites in comparison to other snacks, can you think of one feature which makes Sunbites different? If so, what is it?
The lack of greasiness and the crunchiness really stand out, they really have a very nice texture.

Q5 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Sunbites to your friends? If so, why? If not, why not?
Probably not to be honest, they're a bit bland. But apart from the flavour issues, I like everything else about them!

MsInterpret · 12/09/2011 19:31

Q1 What was your overall impression of the product? Did you enjoy eating them or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

I liked them. Their crunchiness was good and they weren't greasy feeling or tasting. I liked most of the flavours.

Q2 How would you describe Sunbites to a friend who didn't know what they were?

A wholegrain, crunchy snack that's a good alternative to crisps.

Q3 Which flavour did you like the most? Are there any other flavours you'd like to see in the range?

The salted ones were very bland and dull. I liked the others. DH wouldn't eat 3 of them because you use dried garlic or dried onion in them which he detetsts!

Q4 Thinking about Sunbites in comparison to other snacks, can you think of one feature which makes Sunbites different? If so, what is it?

The fact that they're whole grain.

Q5 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Sunbites to your friends? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, probably because I enjoyed them. I'd tell them to avoid the salty ones though!

shanks313 · 12/09/2011 19:34

Never received them

SisterSavior · 12/09/2011 19:41

Q1 I really did enjoy them, they were really tasty! I loved the crunchiness of them and the fact that the flavours were quite subtle.
Q2 As highly addictive wholegrain crisps
Q3 I actually liked the plain ones the most, although they were all lovely.
Q4 The fact that they are wholegrain and also the flavours which seem a little more grown up than other crisp flavours
Q5 I would definitely recommend them, I thought they tasted lovely and are a great 'grown up' snack.

fairylights · 12/09/2011 20:15

Lets start by saying I LOVE crisps so have tried pretty much the full range of this kind of snack..
I have really enjoyed all the packets/flavours, my favourite being the rosemary one. I used to buy sunbites but went off them in pregnancy so it was good to be reminded how tasty they are! Like the new packaging too - attractive.
I think when shopping I would be considering them against "baked" crisps for the calories but also for the taste, i have really gone off crisps that taste very fried and fatty. The texture is a lot more appealing to me than regular crisps. The ultimate test would be which was on special offer though Smile, fruagality being the name of the game in our household at the moment.
I liked the wholegrain thing, definitely feels more healthy (even if not actually that much healthier!) and the wholegrain taste too.
I would recommend them to a friend for taste and originality.

hellojojo · 12/09/2011 20:18

I enjoyed eating them, although got a bit bored towards the end of the packet. Thought they could do with a bit more flavour perhaps - especially the sweet chili ones.

like crisps but low fat and not potato

Sweet chili

not s fattening

don't think I would eve recommend any food to anyone really!

LostInTransmogrification · 12/09/2011 20:26

Q1 I liked them all (not fussy!) ESP the cheddar ones, less keen on the rosemary
Q2 like really healthy frazzles.
Q3 cheddar, then the chive, least keen on salted
Q4 low in salt, not greasy, different texture
Q5 yes as a slightly healthier alternative to crisps, with nice adult flavours

red23 · 12/09/2011 20:40

Enjoyed all the flavours but would love a salt and vinegar and prawn cocktail version. They have a nice texture and are a good alternative to crisps because they're not as greasy.Great for lunch boxes too. Have already recommended them.

AndTheWinnerIs · 12/09/2011 20:42

Q1 - Liked all of them all apart from the sweet chilli, which dh ate and enjoyed. Favourite was the cheddar ones, least fav plain.
Q2 - I thought they were a bit like wheat crunchies.
Q3 - cheddar
Q4 - proper ingredients, for grown ups though, maybe with a dip.
Q5 - Yes, I liked them and they are abit healthier than normal crisps.
